Today the boys are joined by psychology professor and sometimes political correspondent Michael Foy (who also happens to be their uncle) to discuss the movie Memento. An early career gem from Christopher Nolan, this is truly an awesome movie. Nolan, notorious for his fascination with time, pulls some trickies on us in this one. Just like the movie the Foy Boys are a bit all over the place on this episode. But it's definitely a fun one - although it's highly recommended to give the movie a watch before listening. This one might start slow, but trust us, it’s worth it. Star Trek (2009) is a rare blend of sleeper hit and absolute banger that, in our opinion, didn’t get the recognition it deserved. In a world where big franchises get churned out constantly, this movie kicks off a trilogy with a fresh flavor that stands apart from typical blockbusters—yet still offers the familiar thrills that make for a great time. We definitely recommend watching it first, but just like the movie, this episode is easygoing, fun, and packed with some unexpectedly deep moments below the surface. Dr. Aaron Baker of Movie Watchers fame lends his insights into the film - which everyone agrees has immaculate vibes. The boys cover the ultimate Christmas classic It's a Wonderful Life in this one. Unfortunately *someone* forgot their microphone when they went back to their parents, so we apologize for the audio. It does improve around the 15 minute mark, and if you like AM radio, well hey you'll enjoy this. This is a wonderful episode (see what I did there) that sees Jord and Cars discuss the various elements of the film, from it's excellent story and narrative structure, to it's colorful performances, and they conclude with a conversation about it's themes and meanings. It's a Wonderful Life is an amazing film that is definitely recommend to be watched before listening to this! This episode is almost a double feature (kind of)! In the first portion we discuss Tim Burton's iconic, yet misunderstood Batman Returns. To summarize, the movie is a lot of fun, although there is some pretty big holes in the narrative. Both boys agree, you must watch it if you haven't! Danny DeVito is 'feral', and it's worth it just to see him, although Jordan would argue Michelle Pfeiffer steals the show.
