E70 | Connections in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Pragmata
This week I'm talking about some of the connections that are made between characters in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1774580/STAR_WARS_Jedi_Survivor/) and contrasting it a little with the first game. I also tried the demo for Pragmata (https://store.steampowered.com/app/3357650/PRAGMATA/) and really enjoyed what I played of the game, even if it's an incomplete picture of the entire experience. Last but not least, this week I'm recommending Proxmox (https://www.proxmox.com/en/), which is great software for managing and creating virtual machines for homelab setups. (Yes, I am that nerd.) As always, I'd love to chat about any of the things that I talked about in this episode, so hit me up on X (https://x.com/Game_Club_Pod) and let's have a conversation! E69 | Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
For the month of May I'll be playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1774580/STAR_WARS_Jedi_Survivor/), which is the sequel to one of the games I most enjoyed playing last year. This will be fun! New this week is also Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (https://zelda.nintendo.com/links-awakening/) which is a beautiful remake of the 1993 Game Boy game. Classic Zelda gameplay, modern visual style! Last but not least, this week I'm recommending the book Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars (https://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Jedi-Battle-Scars/dp/B0B9T79MCP) for fans of Fallen Order who want to get a look at events that connect the two Jedi games. As always, I'd love to have a conversation about any of the things I talked about in the podcast this week, so hit me up on X (https://x.com/Game_Club_Pod) and let's chat! Welcome to the month of April, where the big focus this month is Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1817070/Marvels_SpiderMan_Remastered/)! It's amazing, truly spectacular, and sensational, and I'm excited to play more of it this coming month. This week I also got to try out the brand new Crimson Desert (https://store.steampowered.com/app/3321460/Crimson_Desert/), and while it's a little rough around the edges, it's one that I think will probably be a really great game in time. Last but not least, in honor of the sequel coming out next week, I'm recommending The Super Mario Bros Movie (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6718170) for fans of Mario and everyone who likes fun. E64 | Spectacle in God of War and Elite Dangerous
This week as I'm wrapping up my time with God of War (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1593500/God_of_War/), I'm talking about the way that spectacle is all over the game. I also played Elite Dangerous (https://store.steampowered.com/app/359320/Elite_Dangerous/) this week and got to experience a top-quality space-sim where freedom to determine how you want to play is absolute. Last but not least, this week I'm recommending the show Firefly (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0303461) from 2002, which is great, but also getting an animated sequel series?! I also played in the server slam event for Marathon (https://store.steampowered.com/app/3065800/Marathon/) to try out Bungie's latest shooter. E52 | Horizon Zero Dawn and Vanquish
Welcome to year two of Game Club! Let's call this Season 2 of the show, as there's a bit of change from last year. The big focus for January is Horizon Zero Dawn (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2561580/Horizon_Zero_Dawn_Remastered/), and in this episode I'm talking about the tutorials in it. Also this week is Vanquish (https://store.steampowered.com/app/460810/Vanquish/), which is a stylish third person shooter from Platinum Games. A solid start to the new year! Last but not least, this week I'm recommending the audio book for Halo: Edge of Dawn (https://www.amazon.com/Halo-Edge-Master-Chief-Story/dp/B0DYWTW4KL), specifically for the voicework from Steve Downes (Master Chief) and Jen Taylor (Cortana/The Weapon)! Probably the peaks of their respective series, I think. This week I also want to recommend the composer of Uncharted 4's music, Henry Jackman (Henry Jackman | Spotify) who's done some great music in other things that I've really enjoyed as well. As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts on these things, so hit me up on X (https://x.com/Game_Club_Pod) and we'll have a conversation! E50 | Uncharted 3 and Tomb Raider III
This week I continue exploring the Uncharted and Tomb Raider series! Uncharted 3 (https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/uncharted-the-nathan-drake-collection/) is probably one of my favorites in the series, and Tomb Raider III (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2478970/Tomb_Raider_IIII_Remastered_Starring_Lara_Croft/) is possibly the best in that series so far as well! This week I'm also recommending the TV show Severance (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11280740), which is kind of a crazy mystery that makes me think of Fallout! As always, I'd love to get your thoughts and recommendations over on X (https://x.com/Game_Club_Pod), so hit me up there and we'll have a conversation. E49 | Uncharted 2 and Tomb Raider II
This week is a battle of the sequels! Uncharted 2 (https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/uncharted-the-nathan-drake-collection/) takes everything good about the first game and cranks it up, while Tomb Raider II (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2478970/Tomb_Raider_IIII_Remastered_Starring_Lara_Croft/)...does not! Last but not least, I'm recommending Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0851851) this week. It's a fun show, regardless of how you feel about the rest of the franchise. Of course, I'd love to hear your perspective on these things, so hit me up on X (https://x.com/Game_Club_Pod) and let's have a conversation about it! These games are very similar in spirit, but pretty different in execution! I'll also be playing more games from each series for the rest of the month, so join me! This week I'm also recommending the new Running Man movie (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14107334), which is a pretty solid remake of the 1987 film of the same name. As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts on any of the things I've talked about in this episode, so hit me up on X (https://x.com/Game_Club_Pod) and let's have a conversation! This week I played Diablo III (https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/family/diablo-iii) and found I enjoy it maybe even more than Diablo II (gasp!). I also played Fallout: New Vegas (https://store.steampowered.com/app/22380/Fallout_New_Vegas/) and found I like other Fallout games more (horror!). I also recommend the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies, they hold up really well! As always, I'd love to have a conversation about any of this stuff, so hit me up on X (https://x.com/Game_Club_Pod) and let's chat about it! E41 | Diablo II and Warhammer 40K: Space Marine II
This week I played the sequels to each of the games I played last week! First up, Diablo II (https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/family/diablo-ii), specifically the excellent Resurrected edition, followed by Warhammer 40K: Space Marine II (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2183900/Warhammer_40000_Space_Marine_2/). These are both really good games, and worthy sequels! Last but not least, I recommend Fractal Design (https://www.fractal-design.com/) for some cool computer parts and excellent customer service. As always, I'd love to chat about all of this and more over on X (https://x.com/Game_Club_Pod) so hit me up and let's have a conversation! E40 | Diablo and Warhammer 40k: Space Marine
This week I played the very first Diablo (https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/family/diablo) and found that it's got some old but good bones! I also played Warhammer 40k: Space Marine (https://store.steampowered.com/app/55150/Warhammer_40000_Space_Marine__Anniversary_Edition/) and found it to be a lot like Gears of War! Last but not least, I recommend the Apple Watch (https://www.apple.com/watch/) for wearable tech that probably does more than you need it to. As always, I'd love to have a conversation about any of these things over on X (https://x.com/Game_Club_Pod), so hit me up and let's talk about it! E39 | Marvel's Midnight Suns and Hollow Knight
This week kicks off a month playing some games that could be considered "spooky"! First up, Marvel's Midnight Suns (https://store.steampowered.com/app/368260/Marvels_Midnight_Suns/) from Firaxis. A Marvel tactics game with a twist! I also finally played Hollow Knight (https://store.steampowered.com/app/367520/Hollow_Knight/) for the first time. Pretty solid game! Last but not least, I wanted to recommend an upcoming game called Agent 64: Spies Never Die (https://youtu.be/vsGxG1GPN-A?si=iJQ1w4X7l5Yr2nK3) that looks like it'll be a fun throwback to some classic shooters. As always, I'd love to have a conversation about any of these things. Just hit me up on X and let's talk about it (https://x.com/Game_Club_Pod)! This week I continue playing through the Arkham games with Batman: Arkham City (https://store.steampowered.com/app/200260/Batman_Arkham_City__Game_of_the_Year_Edition/) which is a really fantastic follow-up to Arkham Asylum. I also was able to hop into the Battlefield 6 Open Beta (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2807960/Battlefield_6/) and get a preview of what that new game will look like when it releases in October. It's good! Last but not least, I recommend the 1954 Hitchcock classic Rear Window, which stars Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047396). This week I continue playing through the Arkham games with the first in the series - Batman: Arkham Asylum (https://store.steampowered.com/app/35140/Batman_Arkham_Asylum_Game_of_the_Year_Edition/)! This is a really great game from 15 years ago, but so is Donkey Kong Bananza (https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/donkey-kong-bananza-switch-2/) which came out in July. Finally, I recommend the new Fantastic Four: First Steps movie (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10676052), which is a great first outing for the FF in the MCU. E31 | Batman: Arkham Origins and Word Play
This week I kick off my playthrough of the Arkham series with Batman: Arkham Origins (https://store.steampowered.com/app/209000/Batman_Arkham_Origins/). Not the first in the series, but first narratively, so it's a good place to start. I also enjoyed the new game from Mark Brown, Word Play (https://store.steampowered.com/app/3586660/Word_Play/). Single player Scrabble against a clock! Last but not least, I recommend the website ProtonDB (https://www.protondb.com/) for anyone looking to play games on Linux. This week I played two very different games from Ubisoft.
