    138 - "Right This Way!"

Names are an important part of communicating who you are the world around you. Whether it's through your name's meaning, how it describes you, or what it tells others about who you're related to... names carry a lot of weight in telling the world about who you are. God is no different. the Bible tells us a lot about who He is through His Names. So for the next couple of weeks, we're going to be looking at the different names of God. Today, we are reminded that Jesus describes Himself as "The Way"... He is the path forward... He is the example for us to follow... and He is the avenue to eternal life because of His sacrifice on the cross!  Our passage today is:  John 14:6 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 6. 133

    133 - "You've Been Served!"

This week, we're looking at how God built His Kingdom. Specifically, how He's building His UPSIDE DOWN KINGDOM. Nothing is as it would be on earth... but it is the way He set it up. Today we look at how Jesus came to the earth, amidst all the earthly Kingdoms, and rather than having everyone on earth serve Him - the King of Kings - He, instead... came to serve. That by serving, all would know the character and love of God. He desires for us to do the same, and showing the people living in the earthly kingdoms a better way... by inviting them to be citizens of His upside down Kingdom.  Our passage today is:  Matthew 20:28 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 7. 132

    132 - "Me's and Enemies"

This week, we're looking at how God built His Kingdom. Specifically, how He's building His UPSIDE DOWN KINGDOM. Nothing is as it would be on earth... but it is the way He set it up. Today we look at how in this earthly Kingdom, instead of hating our enemies, we must love our enemies and PRAY for our enemies... in hopes that their hearts would be changed and moved towards Jesus and that our hearts would be changed towards them.  Our passage today is:  Matthew 5:43-44 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 8. 131

131 - "Only The LOSERS Win!"

This week, we're looking at how God built His Kingdom. Specifically, how He's building His UPSIDE DOWN KINGDOM. Nothing is as it would be on earth... but it is the way He set it up. Today we look at how in this earthly Kingdom, we must lose our lives in order to save our lives for the eternal Kingdom of God... you know, the upside down Kingdom! 9. 130

    130 - "If You’re First, You’re LAST!"

This week, we're looking at how God built His Kingdom. Specifically, how He's building His UPSIDE DOWN KINGDOM. Nothing is as it would be on earth... but it is the way He set it up. Today we look at how the FIRST in God's Kingdom must put themselves LAST here on earth.  Our passage today is:  Matthew 20:16 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 10. 129

129 - "Christianese Words: THE BODY OF CHRIST"

This week, we're going to start looking at some of the words that get used all the time in church, the Bible or in Christian circles. Some of these words are unhelpful without the proper definition or explanation... in fact, I like to call these words: Christianese. They're words that Christians use, that anyone outside of church (or those without a long history in the church) might not understand. We're going to define these words, and help to give context to them. Today's word is THE BODY OF CHRIST. As the CAPITAL "C" Church, we are said to be the "Body of Christ." Made up of many parts, we come together - with Jesus as the head - to form the body that will see the gospel spread to the ends of the earth. Each believer with unique skills, passions and callings... making up the whole of the body. We are the Body of Christ, His Church.  Our passage today is:   1 Corinthians 12:27 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 11. 128

128 - "Christianese Words: BORN AGAIN"

This week, we're going to start looking at some of the words that get used all the time in church, the Bible or in Christian circles. Some of these words are unhelpful without the proper definition or explanation... in fact, I like to call these words: Christianese. They're words that Christians use, that anyone outside of church (or those without a long history in the church) might not understand. We're going to define these words, and help to give context to them. Today's word is BORN AGAIN. We can only ever be born of the flesh once... but we can be born of the Spirit after we're born of the flesh... and in this way, we can be born again! Our passage today is:   John 3:3 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 12. 127

    127 - "Christianese Words: SANCTIFICATION"

This week, we're going to start looking at some of the words that get used all the time in church, the Bible or in Christian circles. Some of these words are unhelpful without the proper definition or explanation... in fact, I like to call these words: Christianese. They're words that Christians use, that anyone outside of church (or those without a long history in the church) might not understand. We're going to define these words, and help to give context to them. Today's word is SANCTIFICATION. This is the process by which we come to look more like Jesus. Where justification is a once-and-for-all ruling after we're saved... sanctification never stops until we die and are with Jesus. We continue to be sanctified, and made to look more like Jesus ever new day! Our passage today is:   Hebrews 10:14 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 13. 126

    126 - "Christianese Words: JUSTIFICATION"

This week, we're going to start looking at some of the words that get used all the time in church, the Bible or in Christian circles. Some of these words are unhelpful without the proper definition or explanation... in fact, I like to call these words: Christianese. They're words that Christians use, that anyone outside of church (or those without a long history in the church) might not understand. We're going to define these words, and help to give context to them. Today's word is JUSTIFICATION. Because Jesus died for us, in our place... when we put our faith in Him, and claim His salvation - that we didn't earn, but was given as a free gift from God - the Father no longer sees our guilt... He sees the innocence of Jesus instead. So when He looks to us as a righteous Judge, His verdict is innocent! That... is JUSTIFICATION.  Our passage today is:   Romans 5:1 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 14. 125

    125 - "Christianese Words: GOSPEL"

This week, we're going to start looking at some of the words that get used all the time in church, the Bible or in Christian circles. Some of these words are unhelpful without the proper definition or explanation... in fact, I like to call these words: Christianese. They're words that Christians use, that anyone outside of church (or those without a long history in the church) might not understand. We're going to define these words, and help to give context to them. Today's word is GOSPEL, which is the "good news" of Jesus, our Savior, to us. When we talk about the Gospel, we're talking about the BIG story of the Bible, and the smaller story of how that BIG story changes our lives.  Our passage today is:   John 3:16 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 15. 124

    124 - "Christianese Words: MERCY"

This week, we're going to start looking at some of the words that get used all the time in church, the Bible or in Christian circles. Some of these words are unhelpful without the proper definition or explanation... in fact, I like to call these words: Christianese. They're words that Christians use, that anyone outside of church (or those without a long history in the church) might not understand. We're going to define these words, and help to give context to them. Today's word is MERCY. Unlike GRACE - which is getting what we don't deserve... MERCY is not getting what we DO deserve... namely judgement for our sins. Instead, God forgives us and offers us salvation by faith in Jesus.  Our passage today is:   Ephesians 2:4-5 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 16. 123

    123 - "Christianese Words: GRACE"

This week, we're going to start looking at some of the words that get used all the time in church, the Bible or in Christian circles. Some of these words are unhelpful without the proper definition or explanation... in fact, I like to call these words: Christianese. They're words that Christians use, that anyone outside of church (or those without a long history in the church) might not understand. We're going to define these words, and help to give context to them. Today's word is GRACE. Grace is getting better than you deserve. Grace is deserving darkness and destruction and being given light and an eternal Kingdom to rule and reign over, alongside Jesus. Unmerited favor = Grace! 17. 122

    122 - "Christianese Words: FAITH"

This week, we're going to start looking at some of the words that get used all the time in church, the Bible or in Christian circles. Some of these words are unhelpful without the proper definition or explanation... in fact, I like to call these words: Christianese. They're words that Christians use, that anyone outside of church (or those without a long history in the church) might not understand. We're going to define these words, and help to give context to them. Today's word is FAITH. Faith is the hope of that which we can't see, and the conviction of what is to come - based on what the Bible teaches us.    Our passage today is:   Hebrews 11:1 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 29. 110

    110 - "Goodness, Gracious..."

Over the next three weeks, we'll be looking at the three, distinct persons of the Trinity - The Father, the Son and The Holy Spirit - and we'll be diving in to what makes each one unique and hopefully give us a better understanding of how they function, and relate to us. This week we'll be looking at God the Father... who is LORD, and whose graciousness brings us near, even when our sin should separate. He makes a way for us back to Himself. He's not just LORD, He's our Father... and, like an earthly father, our Heavenly Father desires to be close to us, even when it hurts.    Our passage today is:   Psalm 145:8 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 30. 109

    109 - "Karens & The Manager"

Over the next three weeks, we'll be looking at the three, distinct persons of the Trinity - The Father, the Son and The Holy Spirit - and we'll be diving in to what makes each one unique and hopefully give us a better understanding of how they function, and relate to us. This week we'll be looking at God the Father... and to do so, we'll be dissecting Psalm 145:8, to see what it says about God as our Father. Today, we focus on God being the LORD over all things... the Head Honcho, the top of the pyramid... who not only rules... but who is also our very near and compassionate Father.    Our passage today is:   Psalm 145:8 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 31. 108

    108 - "If They Know Your Name…"

Over the next two weeks, the Daily Devo will be focusing on Matthew 5, and more specifically - the BEATITUDES. This section of Matthew 5 comes from a sermon that Jesus gives called the "Sermon on the Mount." As we finish our look at the Beatitudes... we come to a passage that tells us to look above our circumstances when we're insulted for our faith... to see that God's work in us has put us on the enemy's radar, and because there are rewards in heaven for our faithfulness, and because God's light is clearly shining through us... rather than fear or frustration, we should rejoice when we're persecuted!   Our passage today is:   Matthew 5:11-12 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 32. 107

    107 - "For Goodness' Sake..."

Over the next two weeks, the Daily Devo will be focusing on Matthew 5, and more specifically - the BEATITUDES. This section of Matthew 5 comes from a sermon that Jesus gives called the "Sermon on the Mount." Sometimes, as believers, we'll encounter people who don't believe in Jesus, or who are hostile towards God... and when their anger gets directed at us in place of God - that's called "persecution." Jesus tells us that when we stand firm in the face of persecution, and meet it with love... we, like Jesus, will be a light to penetrate the darkness... and we'll be called blessed, as those who show true faith... faith that assures us a place as heirs of the Kingdom of God, with Jesus!   Our passage today is:   Matthew 5:10 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 33. 106

    106 - "Love - 40"

Over the next two weeks, the Daily Devo will be focusing on Matthew 5, and more specifically - the BEATITUDES. This section of Matthew 5 comes from a sermon that Jesus gives called the "Sermon on the Mount." Jesus wants us to follow in His footsteps, of bridging the gap, and erasing the dividing line between image bearers of God... but making peace between those who were once separated, that we all might come to be part of the same family, joined together in the Kingdom of God.    Our passage today is:   Matthew 5:9 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 34. 105

    105 - "2 Kingdoms, 1 Heart"

Over the next two weeks, the Daily Devo will be focusing on Matthew 5, and more specifically - the BEATITUDES. This section of Matthew 5 comes from a sermon that Jesus gives called the "Sermon on the Mount." Jesus tells those he's teaching that if we want to see all that God desires to show us -- most importantly Himself! -- then we can't have a divided heart. We have to desire, purely - the things of His Kingdom, and not to split our affections with the things of this world.    Our passage today is:   Matthew 5:8 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 35. 104

    104 - "Mercy..."

Over the next two weeks, the Daily Devo will be focusing on Matthew 5, and more specifically - the BEATITUDES. This section of Matthew 5 comes from a sermon that Jesus gives called the "Sermon on the Mount." Jesus calls us, in verse 7, to be people who give what we've been given. Not to return evil for evil... but to share with others the undeserved mercy that God has shown His kids.  Our passage today is:   Matthew 5:7 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 36. 103

    103 - "Awfully Fulfilling"

Over the next two weeks, the Daily Devo will be focusing on Matthew 5, and more specifically - the BEATITUDES. This section of Matthew 5 comes from a sermon that Jesus gives called the "Sermon on the Mount." Sometimes we misunderstand things we haven't experienced, and righteousness is one of those things. Righteousness can feel like rules that keep us from the fun we might want to have... but once we experience the true life that comes from living life God's way, we won't just want righteousness for ourselves, we'll hunger and thirst for it. Jesus tells us that when we do that, God can't wait to fulfill that desire and hunger in us! 37. 102

102 - "From Me to Meek"

Over the next two weeks, the Daily Devo will be focusing on Matthew 5, and more specifically - the BEATITUDES. This section of Matthew 5 comes from a sermon that Jesus gives called the "Sermon on the Mount." Today we focus on meekness, which might also be thought of us gentleness or humility. There are those who try and strive after all they want out of life, and who try and squeeze life into getting their desires met... and then there are the believers who understand that our lives are about God's desires... who submit to all He wants from us, and whose posture towards their lives are one of service and humility. This is who Jesus says will inherit the earth... not those who take it by force.  Our passage today is:   Matthew 5:5 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 38. 101

101 - "He'll See You in the Mourning"

Over the next two weeks, the Daily Devo will be focusing on Matthew 5, and more specifically - the BEATITUDES. This section of Matthew 5 comes from a sermon that Jesus gives called the "Sermon on the Mount." Today we focus on mourning, and what true mourning looks like in contrast to just being sad about consequences. When we truly mourn, and feel the weight of sin's presence in the world... God's presence comes to us and comforts us.  Our passage today is:   Matthew 5:4 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 40. 99

    "99 - When I'm Poor, I'm Rich!"

Over the next two weeks, the Daily Devo will be focusing on Matthew 5, and more specifically - the BEATITUDES. This section of Matthew 5 comes from a sermon that Jesus gives called the "Sermon on the Mount." Today we focus on being poor in spirit, so that we might be welcomed in the Kingdom - not on our own merit, but because of the sacrifice of Jesus - and the offer of eternal reign in His kingdom with Him - based on what He alone could and has done for us! 41. 98

    98 - "A Mountaintop Experience"

Over the next two weeks, the Daily Devo will be focusing on Matthew 5, and more specifically - the BEATITUDES. This section of Matthew 5 comes from a sermon that Jesus gives called the "Sermon on the Mount." We'll be looking at a new Beatitude each day, but today we're looking at "why" Jesus says they're important signs of character to the world beyond us. So we can be a LIGHT to the world around us, so God gains glory as His kids show off what it means to be His through the light we give off! 42. 97

97 - "On The Other Side"

This week's Daily Devo theme is an empowering force that keeps us going. Our theme this week is HOPE. When we face tough things in life that are unavoidable, no matter how much we stress about them - at some point, we'll have to face them. Jesus offers us hope in that space... that the troubles and hardships of life, though real and difficult - do happen, but won't last forever. In fact, we're able to draw hope from the reality that one day all of life will be made right and we'll be on the other side of this challenge, and into an eternity of rest in Jesus! 43. 96

96 - "Free! But With Pickles..."

This week's Daily Devo theme is an empowering force that keeps us going. Our theme this week is HOPE. Sometimes free isn't entirely as clean and simple as "free." In our passage today, we look at how Paul encourages us to rejoice in the hope we have in Christ, and pray continuously, staying close to the Father... but also to be patient in tribulation. Sandwiched in between these two awesome things... is another, seemingly non-awesome thing... but it's an important ingredient that we (even if we don't realize it) really need! 44. 95

    95 - "The Great Deposit"

This week's Daily Devo theme is an empowering force that keeps us going. Our theme this week is HOPE. When we want something to be true, it can be easy to convince ourselves of delusions and fantasies... but with God, the HOPE that we have is certain. So certain, in fact, that God gave us Himself as a despot for when Jesus comes back and fulfills His promise to set up rule here, again on earth... that Deposit? His Name is the Holy Spirit! 45. 94

    94 - "Trust Fall"

This week's Daily Devo theme is an empowering force that keeps us going. Our theme this week is HOPE. It's easy to hope in what we've seen, and what we know. God will sometimes invite us to step out into the unknown, like a "spiritual trust fall" in order to strengthen our faith and hope in Him. When we trust Him, and allow our HOPE to propel us towards His calling, we start to see and believe that He's always got us, even when we feel nervous about falling towards Him.  Our passage today is:   Hebrews 11:1 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 46. 93

93 - "No Giant TOO Giant"

This week's Daily Devo theme is an empowering force that keeps us going. Our theme this week is HOPE. As we face the world ahead of us, one of the most important things we can take with us is hope. Hope for the destination beyond the next destination... hope for the circumstance beyond the circumstance... and hope for the life after life. We don't have to wait, however, for that hope to take root and bear fruit... we can have hope now, and walk in the power and reality of all that is to come, even now! Today, we look at how a young King David understood this, even as he faced the biggest giant of them all. His hope was never rocked, but it did rock... get it?! 47. 92

    92 - "Speak Life"

This week's theme is an important one, but one that we often overlook - so that we can look more at ourselves. This week's theme is HUMILITY. If you're following along with us in real time it's been a heavy week, with some really awful things that have happened... but this week has offered an important reminder that our words have power. We can build up or break down, and my hope and plea is for you to choose words of life. It's what Christ showed, even under the most distressing realities of his crucifixion, as he prayed for our forgiveness in the midst of our ignorance. May we offer words of life to everyone, including those whose words bring us death, just like they did to Jesus.    Our passage today is:  Proverbs 18:21 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 48. 91

    91 - "Upside-Down, Undercover & Unseen"

This week's theme is an important one, but one that we often overlook - so that we can look more at ourselves. This week's theme is HUMILITY. Sometimes life turns us over, and disorients us... sometimes we feel hidden or unseen, and still - God wants us to know He's there, He sees us and He has plans, even for our dark, hidden and unseen days. He is always at work and He cares for us. When we believe this and live out of that awareness, we're free to face whatever the days bring with joy - because He's writing the story, we just get to experience it.    Our passage today is:  1 Peter 5:6-7 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 49. 90

90 - "The Goal of Humility"

This week's theme is an important one, but one that we often overlook - so that we can look more at ourselves. This week's theme is HUMILITY. Humility isn't just about not thinking about yourself all the time... sometimes it's about thinking about yourself properly. We are needy, helpless and completely dependent upon Jesus for access to His Kingdom, no matter what good we do, and no matter how much of it we do. Humility is recognizing our need, and not thinking too highly of our efforts... but thinking all the more highly about all Christ has done for us, in our place!   Our passage today is:  Matthew 5:3 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below. 50. 89

    89 - "Naval Gazing...Eww!"

This week's theme is an important one, but one that we often overlook - so that we can look more at ourselves. This week's theme is HUMILITY. Humility is one of the most evident character traits of Jesus, and the one He calls us to so often, in following His example. Jesus thought less of his own well-being, in order that others might benefit from all He had. His salvation, His forgiveness and His provision... he offers to us, that we might have what we didn't earn. He calls us to think less of ourselves, and more of the needs and concerns of others as well!    Our passage today is:  Philippians 2:3-4 Written by: Casey Taylor  If you'd like to join our growing community, you can find us at our various social media platforms, or you can show your support by joining our Patreon at the links below.
