Gertrude the Job Coach - Part 1

Memorable quote: So you get up to stop the creepy flamingo from talking to you any more, plus you’re really thirsty anyway, and you skate right into the water cooler. Gertrude (Adele Field) is not wearing her gardening hat today. Her new hat for today's "educational presentation" episode has an attached TV antenna, associated with her new business as a job coach. In her interview with the show host (Luella Wagner), Gertrude offers her most important tip for job seekers — which is to wear the proper attire and why. With three increasingly "outlandish" scenarios, involving roller skates and a talking flamingo (Coleen Robinson), she demonstrates pitfalls to avoid. Mrs. Wimberly (Coleen Robinson in a dual role) roars in at the end on her 4-wheeler furious at the holes all over her garden created by someone's homemade spiked-shoe aerators. Gertrude and the Cook-Off 18

Memorable Quote: "Mother Nature can be vindictive, but you can't arrest her. "— Miss GertrudeGertrude talks about her garden weeding challenges with thistle, quackgrass, purslane, and mallow. Gertrude and the Host brainstorm a biscuits-and-gravy cook-off as a good way to fundraise to repair the terrible pothole on Main Street. The Sheriff calls in to say he's going for a blue ribbon with his famous biscuits-and-gravy recipe. Gertrude will be a judge, not an entrant, because her gravy is vegan, but she will bring her famous Eat-the-Weeds salad. The Host describes it as "infamous." Mrs. Wimberly quickly calls in to take charge of the event so there will be some "rules and regulations." Mrs. Pleckspeckle wants to bring her Irish soda bread instead, but she may make biscuits if it will get the pothole repaired. Hartford Goodspring, still in Las Vegas, calls to say that he doesn't like biscuits or gravy, but he will be a judge, and bring his forte, a Black Forest Torte. He has to abruptly end his call, due to a rapidly developing situation with "rogue humanoids." The Sullivan kids call in with their ideas for judging the cook-off entries, as well as entering their own, and bringing a dandelion salad. Written and produced by Adele Field. © 2025. Gertrude and the Moodometer 17

Memorable Quote: "I remember a lot of things I have forgotten." — Miss Gertrude Having left her gumbo-covered boots outside, Gertrude enters the studio, removes her dripping rain bonnet, and reveals her latest hat invention, a Moodometer. The Host agrees it has merit, but says it's "gimmicky." The Sheriff calls in to express interest, thinking it will be a top-seller in the farming community if it can predict animals' intentions, like whether or not his cow Marybelle is going to kick over the kids' milking pail. Mrs. Wimberly is on a campaign to start issuing parking tickets on Main Street. Gertrude suggests building a mudslide ride from Water Tank Hill as a way to capitalize on the gumbo. Mrs. Pleckspeckle wants to commission Hartford Goodspring to build an automaton to play her dear husband's, the late Connor P. Pleckspeckle's, violin. Goodspring calls in from Las Vegas, under yet another fake name, saying he is busy with a lucrative arcade project. The Sullivan kids call in to offer their help as apprentices in Goodspring's workshop, in addition to their work in the thriving duck egg business.Written and produced by Adele Field. © 2025. Gertrude and the New Sheriff

Quotable Quote: People click in and out so fast, it makes my head spin. They don't understand the concept of " Gew-Gaws" as a timeless trend." — Gertrude, on her Internet reseller show. As the Host merrily trills a happy springtime tune, Gertrude enters the studio with an update on the newly official interim Sheriff, Phineas “Phinn” Sullivan, aka Farmer Sullivan. Mrs. Wimberly is already trying her best to enlist him for support with her various complaints, but Phinn is not a particular fan of Mrs. W’s specialty, pies. With a new cooking show possibly on the horizon, the Host has baked some hard-to-swallow test cookies, and Mrs. W offers to step in and take over the show. Hartford Goodspring — or whatever his name is, calls in to get in on Mrs. Pleckspeckle’s pinochle tournament. He also has news about his new project that has Gertrude thrilled to bits. The Sullivan kids call in to see if they can have the test cookies for hockey pucks or target practice. Written and produced by Adele Field, © 2025. Gertrude Comes Clean

Quotable Quote: I got the perm and color special at the L-Bar-L saloon … salon … and paidextra for a feathered-blue tint. — Margaret Pleckspeckle Gertrude is making a fresh start with her laundry business with a new name, and has major news about one of her associates, formerly known as Donald Drakenstein, who has decided to “come clean.” In more big news, Farmer Sullivan is filling a temporary law enforcement gap, and Mrs. W, chairwoman of the Uptown Beautification Association District, has scheduled a meeting with him to discuss the town’s duck pond. Mrs. Pleckspeckle is miffed when her new hairdo is ruined by a fall in the snow, blaming the absent snowplow operator and Mrs. Wimberly. When the Sullivan kids call in, Gertrude offers to help them start their new business for a percentage of sales, of course.Written and produced by Adele Field, © 2025. Gertrude's Sugar Plums Clinic

After the Host (Luella Wagner) makes a rambling introduction, Gertrude (Adele Field) launches into her latest service idea that "scratches an old itch" as the logical extension of her Mitsakes mistakes-fixing business. Sheriff Jesse James (Ishmael I. Garcia) calls to offer his support. Mrs. Wimberly (Coleen Robinson) calls in twice about cat-related issues, and Mrs. Pleckspeckle (Luella Wagner) asks Gertrude to help restore her late husband's instrument. Gertrude's mysterious business associate, Mr. Drakenstein, has gone missing, leaving a mechanical duck to rust in the park. Written and Produced by Adele Field. Gertrude's Twists and Turns

Quotable Quote: “She’s a pretty gentle old soul but by golly she kicked him.— Sheriff Jesse James. When Gertrude’s latest hat creation, a whirlybird beanie with pinwheels, flies off across the highway, Sheriff Jesse James calls in with the news that the hat has been found at Sullivan’s farm. Mortimer Sullivan and his cow Mirabelle, aka Milkshake, are not amused, even if everyone else is. Regular callers Wynona Wimberly and Margaret Pleckspeckle are against pinwheels in general, and Mrs. W wants an ordinance passed prohibiting them as well as snowballs and bad accordion music on public thoroughfares. Mrs. P defends a previously elaborate, and unfortunate, hairdo. Gertrude tries again to plug her personalized “Wanted: Headed for Parts Unknown” cowgirl mugs. The show host reluctantly reveals Gertrude — and her business partner, the mysterious inventor Mr. Drakenstein — have received a large amount of mail. Mr. D says he’s coming to the station immediately, and he’s bringing a duck. Just as the show is ending, kids Albie and Amanda Sullivan call in to order some hats. Written and produced by Adele Field, © 2024. Cast: Adele Field, Luella Wagner, Coleen Robinson, Ishmael G. Garcia, and special guests T.J. and R.D. Darrow.

    Gertrude Advice on Fixing Mitsakes

Quotable quote: “Blowing this way and that way is like clothes flapping on the line. If your clothespins are rotten, your linens might fall in the pond.” — Margaret Pleckspeckle... Gertrude’s latest entrepreneurial venture pairs a unique hat with an expansion of her coaching business to teach DIYers like herself why and how to embrace mistakes. In spite of the show host again stressing the no-ads policy, Gertrude sneaks in plugs for her new customizable hat design and “Mitsakes” consulting sessions, and her personalized “Wanted: Headed for Parts Unknown” cowgirl mugs. She tries to recruit Wynona Wimberly as an expert pie and bread maker partner/client. When her reimagined vision for a large billboard in her chaotic, mistakes-filled back yard is soundly rejected by Mrs. W, Sheriff Jesse James calls to clarify the town policy on signs and warn about future potential for graffiti. After Gertrude makes an emergency exit from the show to rescue a customer’s laundry from a duck pond, Mr. Drakenstein calls to inquire about bubble remediation services. Mrs. Pleckspeckle offers advice on “proof-of-concept” testing and adds some pith with what may or may not be an old Irish curse. Written and produced by Adele Field, © 2024. Gertrude's Bug Machines

The show host and Gertrude discuss Gertrude's new business partnership with Mr. Drakenstein for an innovative product line of bug-eating machines. Mrs. Wimberly, chairwoman of the Uptown Beautification Association District calls in to complain about Gertrude's retro candy business in the repainted carnival trailer across the alley, and threatens to report it. The Sheriff calls in to assure Gertrude that her enterprise is not illegal, and he urges her to stock his favorite candy. Mrs. Pleckspeckle has trapped a cricket and is anxious to order one of Gertrude's new machines. Cast: Adele Field, Luella Wagner, Coleen Robinson, Ishmael Garcia. Gertrude's Time Pockets, A Timely Idea

The cast of regulars, Host (Luella Wagner), Gertrude (Adele Field), Wynona Wimberly (Coleen Robinson), Mrs. Pleckspeckle (Luella Wagner), and Mr. Drakenstein (Ishmael Garcia), are joined by Sheriff Jesse James (Ishmael Garcia), in this tale of Gertrude's newest business idea, Time Pockets. Her system is a creative way to manage To-Do lists, "which everyone has unless they are comatose or in jail." The Sheriff is quite taken with Wynnie's homemade pies, and Drakenstein has some used mechanical parts to offer. Wimberly and Pleckpeckle are decidedly skeptical about the Time Pocket system, but Wimberly insists that Gertrude's eyesore of a vintage carnival trailer get fixed or hauled away ASAP. Gertrude solicits support for her business venture, but admits there are some design flaws to be worked out.

    Tell Trudy — Random Riff

  12. 10

    Gertrude and the Hopper Popper

Gertrude has a new business idea and a new invention to share that she thinks will solve a major gardening problem. Mrs. Wimberly tentatively agrees it might work, and Mrs. Pleckspeckle wants to know if it will get rid of moths. The mysterious Mr. Drakenstein is potentially interested as well. The show host, however, cannot get past the "ick" factor. Gertrude's Fixer Fixation

Ep. 8 — Gertrude’s Fixer Fixation   Gertrude comes on the show wearing a prototype of her latest hat creation, replete with hanging miniature tools designed for “fixers,” plus a USB-chargeable headlamp and a Morse Code transmitter. Since Gertrude is admittedly a bit rusty on her code, she initiates unexpected communication with a very odd caller. Mrs. Wimberly, chairwoman of the Uptown Beautification Association District (U-BAD), is not happy with the sudden appearance of a heap of construction debris at the garbage dumpsite, and wants to get to the bottom of the situation. Before the show host can stop her, Gertrude does an on-air shout-out to a mystery man she is trying to track down. Another odd caller responds. Things are beginning to get weird, which has everyone but Gertrude worried. She’s still trying to solve the duck situation, and the mystery man seems to hold the key… unless he is an internationally notorious cat burglar. The show host warns her about catfishing, but Gertrude is out the door to pursue her new adventure. Gertrude Tries Inside Sales as an Account Executive

Gertrude attempts to take on the role of guest host for the show. When she thinks the interviewer is clueless, she realizes she should just go ahead and be the interviewee as usual. In search of a suitable topic, they briefly discuss the garden beanie hat she is wearing — replete with live herbs and soil, convenient for a quick lunch garnish. They eventually move on to Gertrude’s newest job idea… advertising account executive. Her first foray into inside sales involves her unwilling trailer park neighbor Mrs. Pleckspeckle, who sputters her way into the recording studio for a righteous rant. So maybe Gertrude’s other idea, to be a “Scentus Taker,” might be better?? Cast & Credits Adele Field (Gertrude, Producer) Luella Wagner (Host/Jane, Mrs. Pleckspeckle
