EP-40 | Get Out with God | Day 40/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 40 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we dive in to John 20:1-31 NKJV. Dear brothers and sisters, Here we are, on our final Day 40 of our Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection. And… what an incredible journey it has been. It has been filled with self-discovery through our relationship with God and His beloved Son, Jesus Christ. We learned so much about Jesus’ sacrifice all in the name of love, His and the Father’s unconditional love for us… even if, even then, even when. As believers in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we have learned that there is nothing we can do to lose their love and nothing more we can do to gain more love. They just love us as we are! Today marks the eve of the most glorious days ever… Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Holy Saturday was a very quiet day after a previous day, Good Friday, which was very dark, somber and so very heavy as we witnessed Jesus’ final walk to the cross and His crucifixion. Since Holy Saturday falls on a Sabbath, the only activity recorded occurred after 6 p.m., after Sabbath had ended. Since we observe Sabbath and do not record a podcast on Sunday, we have chosen to dive deeper into Resurrection (Easter) today. Today’s scripture echoes much of what we have discussed in this journey. As we have discovered, we are called to put our faith in Jesus Christ, even when we cannot “see”. We are called to believe even when we don’t see. Daily Scripture: To put this into context, please pause and listen to the reading on the podcast or read John’s account of today’s scripture to yourself in John 20:1-31 NKJV. Since we have chosen to share the full reading, it is lengthy, please use the link to reference the full scripture. Again, we wish to thank you for joining us on our Journey with Jesus: A 40-Day Lenten reflection as we journeyed to the cross with Jesus. We hope this series has blessed you as much as it did for us to record and share. We pray that you have a beautiful resurrection and are filled with God’s peace, love and joy! We will return on April 18 when we begin our next weekly series on the “Fruit of the Spirit”. ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-39 | Get Out with God | Day 39/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 39 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we dive in to John 19:30 NKJV. Dear brothers and sisters, Today we remember the sacrifice of Jesus through His crucifixion on that cross and all of the trauma He suffered throughout the entire day. There were many events that transpired on that day that we could have discussed. There was the kangaroo court that convicted Him, the scourging by the Romans, and the substitution deal of Barabbas that was offered and accepted by the Jewish leadership. Then there was His frank discussion about truth and the sovereignty of His Father with Pontius Pilate as well as the brutal beating and crucifixion that He endured including the conversations with the other two men on crosses beside Him. Out of all those events, there was one particular event that caught our attention that we would like to share with you. We invite you to join us on today’s podcast as we dive into that section of this passage. Daily Scripture: “So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ‘It is finished!’ And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” John 19:30 NKJV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-38 | Get Out with God | Day 38/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 38 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we dive in to Luke 22:19-20 NKJV. Dear brothers and sisters, As we continue to follow Jesus to the cross during the Holy Week, today is a solemn day as Jesus nears His final day on earth in fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies of Isaiah, Zechariah, Daniel, and other prophets. Jesus’ character and love for us on these final days was no different than throughout His ministry. He Jesus spends His final days continuing to be a humble teacher and servant to His disciples. This is demonstrated in several events of the day, which we will cover two in detail in the Study Guide that is linked above and do an overview of the others on today’s podcast. We’d love to have you join us as we discuss the powerful events of this day which have changed the world forever! Daily Scripture: 19 And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me. 20 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.” Luke 22:19-20 NKJV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-37 | Get Out with God | Day 37/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 37 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we dig in to Luke 19:41-44. Dear brothers and sisters, As we discussed on Day 35 (Monday), today we are going dig into God’s Word in the passage we noted in Luke 19:41-44 for in it is a pointer left there by the Holy Spirit to one of the greatest (in our opinion) prophecies of all time. As we dig in to this prophecy in Daniel 9:24-27, we encourage you to join us on the podcast and make sure to download the companion study guide linked to above as it will give you far more detail in this study than we can cover in our discussion. Daily Scripture: 41 “Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, 42 saying, "If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things [that make] for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43 "For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, 44 "and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.” Luke 19:41-44 NKJV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-36 | Get Out with God | Day 36/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 36 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we dig in to Matthew 24:36-44. Dear brothers and sisters, Today’s scripture, “No One Knows the Day or Hour” Matthew 24:36-44, is just one of so many powerful scriptures in the Gospels that chronicled the events that occurred over 2000 years ago today, Holy Tuesday. As we prepared this episode of the podcast, we dove in and combed through the scriptures from the day’s events. We compared the accounts of each event in each of the Gospels. As we did, we felt the Holy Spirit nudge us to share this particular scripture. We will be discussing a few of the events of the day on today’s podcast and would love to have you join us there, and invite you to also do a deeper dive in a review of the accounts of these events in the Gospels. As you do, we encourage you spend time with God meditating, praying over and just pondering the scriptures we have shared in the companion Download linked above.. And as we move on into today’s scripture, we invite you to join us in this podcast as we look at how this passage in Matthew can serve as a warning, an encouragement, and a reminder. Daily Scripture: “No One Knows the Day or Hour” 36“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” Matthew 24:36-44 NKJV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-35 | Get Out with God | Day 35/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 35 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with Mark 11:12-14, 20-23. Dear brothers and sisters, We hope you had an amazing Palm Sunday to kick off the annual celebration of the Resurrection Week of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! We can find the genesis of the story of Palm Sunday in each one of the Gospels. Matthew 21:1-11, Mark 11:1-11, Luke 19:28-44, and John 12:12-19 all chronicle the amazing fulfillment of that wonderful prophecy in Zechariah 9:9 which foretold the very coming of Jesus into Jerusalem over 500 years before it happened! “Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” Zechariah 9:9 NKJV Join us on Wednesday’s podcast where we will discover one of the most astounding prophecies in all of the bible pointed to in the Luke 19 passage above. And as we move on into today’s scripture in the gospel of Mark, we invite you to join us as we look at some of the events that took place the Monday before the crucifixion. We think you’ll get some new and amazing insight into your inheritance in Jesus! Daily Scripture: “12 Now the next day, when they had come out from Bethany, He was hungry. 13 And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14 In response Jesus said to it, “Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.” And His disciples heard [it]. ... 20 Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. 21 And Peter, remembering, said to Him, "Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away." 22 So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God. 23 "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” Mark 11:12-14, 20-23 NKJV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-34 | Get Out with God | Day 34/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 34 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with Acts 13-38:39 NIV. Dear brothers and sisters, Those living under the Law of Moses, the Old Law, were required to follow a very strict set of 613 commandments, which were in reality, simply impossible to keep. Most often not obeying the Law was punishable by death and, when atonement was allowed, it did not remove the sin, but simply covered the sin. Sinners would continue to carry the weight and shame of the sin. But, God! Brothers and sisters, we invite you to grab a cozy seat, settle in for a bit, and join us in a heart-to-heart discussion about the good news today’s scripture brings with the news of the greatest gift ever—our Savior, Jesus Christ. Daily Scripture: “Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.” Acts 13-38:39 NIV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-33 | Get Out with God | Day 33/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 33 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we dive into 1 Peter 2:9-10 NKJV. Dear brothers and sisters, Have you ever felt like you were too ordinary, ‘nothing special’, or just not cut out to accomplish anything big or meaningful? Well, let us share with you just what a BIG LIE that is from the enemy. If he has you believing that, then he has successfully kept you from realizing the truth of what your heavenly Father has said about you, not to mention that he has successfully sidelined you from doing all the marvelous things that God has planned for you. Let’s change that right now. Join us on the podcast today as we take a closer look at today’s scripture. Daily Scripture: “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” 1 Peter 2:9-10 NKJV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-32 | Get Out with God | Day 32/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 32 of our 40 Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with Isaiah 61:10. Dear brothers and sisters, The feeling of joy a bride and groom feel on their wedding day, in the presence of God, is probably the closest thing in our earthly realm to how Jesus must feel when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. He loves us so much that He willingly gave His life at the cross to become the atonement for our sin, salvation, and the way to righteousness. We invite you to settle in for a bit and join us as we chat about today’s scripture, dive a little deeper and discover the truth of Isaiah’s vision and what we need to do to receive this most precious gift from Jesus--to be clothed in garments of salvation and a robe of righteousness. Spoiler alert—the only thing we need to do is accept Him… period!Daily Scripture: “I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.” Isaiah 61:10 NKJV ----Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. In Day 31 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with 1 Thessalonians 5:9 NKJV. Dear brothers and sisters, Today’s scripture has been used to illustrate many things, but most commonly it is used as a scripture of comfort to believers when talking about the end times. Many, many times preachers and bible teachers have pointed out that the “Tribulation” period referred to in the Bible is a time where God is pouring out His wrath upon the earth. This this verse assures us that we will no longer be here during that time period, which then supports the teaching of the rapture of all believers prior to tribulation period. When used to illustrate this point about that particular part of God’s plan, we couldn’t agree more and also recognize that this was truly Paul’s intended meaning when he penned these words so many years ago. However, there is another subtle point that is contained in this verse which we will be digging into on today’s podcast and we’d love to have you join us as we discuss it! Daily Scripture: “For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,” 1 Thessalonians 5:9 NKJV. ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-30 | Get Out with God | Day 30/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 30 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with John 1:12 NIV. Dear brothers and sisters, What a beautiful scripture we have today; it speaks of the greatest gift we could ever hope to receive —adoption as God’s son or daughter, unity, becoming an insider, belonging, uniting, inclusion and belonging to God’s family. All we need to do to receive this gift is to believe in Jesus Christ. Have you have ever heard the term “Gotcha Day”, a day that adoptive parents use to celebrate the anniversary of the day their adoption of a son or daughter is finalized and legal? If you have ever known someone going through the adoption process, you might have witnessed how exciting, emotional and wonderful that day is to both adoptive parents and the child(ren) they are adopting. The adoption process can often be arduous, lengthy, trying and sometimes met with sadness when an adoption doesn’t go through. It can be a gut wrenching and challenging time for parents, but when adoptive parents believe and have faith, is so rewarding when it is finally completed, legal and sealed, and they can say “Gotcha!” to the new addition to their family. Join us on the podcast today a learn all about the God “Gotcha” that Jesus purchased for us all. Daily Scripture: “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—,” John 1:12 NIV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-29 | Get Out with God | Day 29/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 29 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with 1 Peter 2:24 NKJV. Dear brothers and sisters, One of the things we talk about frequently in the modern-day church is the word and concept of 'Salvation'. In the podcast today we’ll give you an overview of just exactly what that word means in the scriptures. We’ll dive into the Greek in the New Testament as well as the Septuagint (The Old Testament translated to Greek) and show you this other bookend to our previous look at Isaiah 53:5… you’re sure to get some surprising revelations along the way! We invite you to dive in with us and find out what an amazing gift this thing is that we have been so freely given through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and know that when you understand the height, depth, length, and breadth of this thing the Greeks called “Sozo” (Salvation) you’ll be astounded! Daily Scripture: "who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness–by whose stripes you were healed." 1 Peter 2:24 NKJV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-28 | Get Out with God | Day 28/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 28 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we are looking at Isaiah 53:5 NKJV. Dear brothers and sisters, Today’s scripture is one of our favorite scriptures and the concepts within align with our ministry purpose and pillars. A bookend to tomorrow’s 1 Peter 2:24 scripture Isaiah 53:5 provides us, looking forward, with hope, a “living hope” with the prophecy of Jesus’ coming. Some 700 years before Jesus entered this world as man, Isaiah prophesied His coming and His atonement for the sin of mankind. We invite you to join us on the podcast today and find a quiet, comfy spot because we park a little longer than normal on this scripture today. There is so much juicy goodness packed into this one little scripture that we couldn’t help but to unpack it line by line to do it the justice it deserves. Today’s discussion also sets the stage for Monday’s study on 1 Peter 2:24. Daily Scripture: “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5 NKJV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-27 | Get Out with God | Day 27/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 27 of "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we look at Romans 8:33-34 NKJV. Dear brothers & sisters, Oh man, we are so glad that Romans 8 exists in every Bible in the world. This whole chapter is SO GOOD! Today’s reading of verses 33 & 34 are NO exception. We have talked a lot, over the last few weeks, about condemnation and feeling unworthy for God to use us in His great master plan for the world. Today’s verse really drives home the point that there is NO condemnation, EVER, for His kids. We invite you to look at the first verse in today’s scripture reading, Romans 8:33 NKJV… 33 “Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.” This point alone should forever lay to rest every internal condemning or accusing thought we have as well as every condemning or accusing word spoken by anyone else against us. We invite you join us on the podcast today as we unpack this as well as the 2nd half of this verse and discuss what valuable tools these are to keep in our "toolbox’. Daily Scripture: 33 “Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” Romans 8:33-34 NIV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-26 | Get Out with God | Day 26/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 26 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with Romans 15:7 NIV. Dear brothers and sisters, Today’s scripture dives deeper into our study of scriptures from the Book of Romans, where, in that book, Paul worked to bring both Jews and Gentiles together in harmony, even though their cultures and beliefs were vastly different. In today’s scripture, Paul continues to spur both groups on by reminding them that, by accepting each other, they make God pleased and give Him all the glory. “Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.” Romans 15:7 NIV As we have discussed over the past few weeks, God made each one of us perfect in His eyes, just as and where we are. Therefore, when Paul makes this statement, he is merely echoing what is in God’s heart…for us to accept and love one another, unconditionally. It is important to point out that Paul doesn’t even call for the Jews and Gentiles to like each other, each other’s acts, words or beliefs, but to just accept one another as Christ Jesus. Paul explains how we are to accept one another… “just as Christ accepted you”. He is referring to the fact that, in Jesus’ lifetime, he hung out with the fringes of society, those that society and religion called “unclean” or “unfit”, sinners. He also could be found with many that did not have the same beliefs, lifestyles, morals, heritage, and so many other areas of difference. However, as we read in the scripture, Jesus accepted them all with grace, love, and humility. At times He had to stand His ground as far as His beliefs, but did not argue or try to convince others to change. He merely spoke the Truth, the Word, and let them see the love of the Father through Him. While dependent upon the first portion of the scripture, the last portion “in order to bring praise to God” of Paul’s scripture is the most important as it is the why. We are called to do all for the glory of God, including accepting and loving one another, as He first loved us. We invite you join us on our podcast today as we dissect this passage and reflect upon the meaning of each piece as it relates to our life and how we interact with others. We pray that this scripture and discussion blesses you as it did us as we prepared it. In Day 25 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with 2 Corinthians 3:18 NKJV.Dear brothers and sisters,How do you think of yourself as a Christian? Do you think of yourself as “just a sinner saved by God’s grace” or do you perhaps think “I’ll never be that ‘good’ of a Christian; I just can’t seem to quit doing _____?_____ (fill in the blank).” IF you have thought either of these things, we would like the opportunity to share some biblical truths with you, that, if you really begin to believe them, will radically change your perspective on things and revolutionize your relationship with the Lord. We invite you to join us on the podcast today as we crack open today’s scripture and take a closer look at how we view ourself as a Christian vs. how God sees us. Grab your Bible, “Get Out” and away from the noise, settle into a cozy spot, and hang out with us for a bit as we talk about all the things that Jesus did for us! EP-24 | Get Out with God | Day 24/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 24 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with 1 Peter 1:3-4 NIV. Dear brothers and sisters, At first glance, today’s scripture might appear to cover topics we have already discussed in previous podcasts. While we have talked about God’s mercy and grace that He gave us through Jesus Christ, there are two beautiful golden nuggets nestled right in the midst of these passages that we have yet to discuss in the depth that they deserve. We invite you to “Get Out” with us today on our podcast where we start by reading today’s scripture, pausing to shine a light on these two nuggets… “living hope” and “inheritance”. As we do, let’s take time to unpack what they truly mean to us. So, grab a comfy spot in your favorite place, crack open your Bible and follow along as we ramble on about all that Jesus Christ has done for us. Get ready, today is a doozy, but aren’t they all? Daily Scripture: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,” 1 Peter 1:3-4 NIV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-23 | Get Out with God | Day 23/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 23 of our 40-Day Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection, we begin with Hebrews 9:14 NIV. Dear brothers & sisters, What do you think are the top answers given by Christians when asked why they don’t feel able to serve God? According to a recent survey on ChristianityToday.com, two of the top 6 reasons were: I don’t know enough / I am not qualified, and I’m not worthy. Over the last 22 days, we have discussed that first reason substantially and showed how God rarely ever calls the qualified but qualifies those He calls IF they step out in faith. The second reason above, “I’m not worthy”, is what we are addressing through today’s scripture in Hebrews 9:14 NIV. Have you ever found yourself feeling “unworthy” in that way? What exactly is the part of us that makes us ‘feel’ so unworthy to serve God? It is our own conscience… the part of our mind and soul which is constantly evaluating our actions and comparing them to an external standard, and either approving us or condemning us based on how our actions and thoughts measure up against that standard. We encourage you to join us on this podcast where we discuss that thing called ‘the conscience’. Daily Scripture: “How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!” Hebrews 9:14 NIV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-22 | Get Out with God | Day 22/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 22 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with Romans 5:1 NIV. Dear brothers and sisters, We read the earlier portion of Paul’s letter to the Romans where he very directly calls out both Jews and Gentiles as sinners at odds with God. After getting our attention at the beginning of this letter, he softens this message by sharing the good news that, even though we deserved the wrath of God and death for our sin, God made a way for us to be made righteous (having right standing) with God through his beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Instead of receiving eternal death and separation from God, which we fully deserved, we received His mercy. Not only did we receive His mercy, but His grace as well. Through this grace we have been blessed with so much… forgiveness, healing, redemption, freedom and life everlasting. Today’s scripture takes grace even one step further, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1 NIV Join us on the podcast today as we dive deeper into Paul’s letter to the Romans sharing the good news to ALL Jews and Gentiles that we ALL are all justified, right standing, and worthy of His peace. We give all the glory to God and are excited to discuss this amazing gift with you all. We look forward to seeing you on the podcast! EP-21 | Get Out with God | Day 21/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 21 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with 1 Timothy 1:15 NIV. Dear brothers and sisters, I don’t think many of us, if we're honest with ourselves, struggle with thinking that we are perfect and without sin. So today’s scripture in 1 Timothy 1:15 NIV is really a ‘no-brainer’ for most of us. But just in case you DO have a tendency to think that you are bordering on perfection, might I remind you to take a closer look at this verse from 1 John 1:8 NIV... “8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” I think that should cure ALL of us from any deception about being anywhere near perfect. Or, perhaps you have the more common thought pattern of many Christians today and think “Hey, I may not be perfect, but I’m not as bad as THAT person over there.”, or “I may not be perfect, but at least I’m not a murderer, a liar, a pervert, or something REALLY bad like that.” If you’ve ever thought this, I suggest that you remember 2 Corinthians 10:12 NKJVwhere Paul tells the Christians in Corinth... 12 “ ...But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.” Join us on the podcast today as we dive into these truths to understand our complete and total need for the salvation that Jesus purchased for us all. Daily Scripture: “15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst.” 1 Timothy 1:15 NIV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-20 | Get Out with God | Day 20/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 20 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with Ephesians 2:4-5 NIV. Dear brothers & sisters, Yesterday we dove into Romans 6:11, which is the cornerstone of being set free and living IN Christ. Being dead TO sin and alive TO God by way of Christ is such an amazing gift from God. In today’s scripture, we find that this gift that He has given is made up of His mercy and grace. If you’ve never really understood the difference between those two things we encourage you to join us on this podcast where we discuss about that very thing! Daily Scripture: “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.” Ephesians 2:4-5 NIV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-19 | Get Out with God | Day 19/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 19 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with Romans 6:11-13 NIV. Dear brothers & sisters, On our Journey with Jesus during this Lenten season our eyes have been opened to the sinful nature we were born TO because of the disobedience of Adam causing the fall and for death to reign on all of his descendants. It is woven into our DNA, much like a genetic disease, because of Adam’s sin. We are sinners therefore we sin. BUT God… He knew Adam was going to sin before he did and couldn’t allow sin to run rampant throughout all eternity. So, God, acting as our Great Physician, sent Jesus as the cure to annihilate our sin. Jesus was the only way. Now that He won the war for us, it is our responsibility to remain free from sin and not allow the enemy’s temptations to get a foothold in our heart. You might be asking… “How do I do this in such a fallen world, with temptation all around me?” Join us as we discuss these things and more on today’s podcast. Daily Scripture: “In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.” Romans 6:11-13 NIV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-18 |Get Out with God | Day 18/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 18 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with Romans 5:12-21 NIV. Dear brothers & sisters, As you read today’s passage, you might find it to be long and complex... that is, because it is. In this one scripture, Apostle Paul summarizes the entire history of mankind from the fall of Adam onward and shares God’s purposes for everything. As with everything that we have talked about, Paul ends with verse 21, which reminds us again that Jesus is The Way. In today’s scripture, it is important to notice that we did not become sinners because sinned. We sin because we were born sinners. This is why Jesus came to save us from sin. As you walk with Him, know that He has removed ALL sin from you. You now have access to Him without fear of rejection or judgement. He had MADE you accepted in Jesus, regardless of how you might feel! Daily Scripture: "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—" Romans 5:12-21 NIV ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-17 | Get Out with God | Day 17/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 17 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with 1 John 4:10 NIV, which is yet another example of all that Jesus has done and continues to do for us. Dear brothers & sisters, On our Journey with Jesus, we have talked about finding God, drawing closer to Him, and spending time with Him out in our “wilderness”. He is calling out to us and waiting for us to respond. However, it is so important for us to remember that He has never left us, even when we are not looking for Him and didn’t hear His call. As today’s scripture mentions, God doesn’t love because we loved Him first, but He sought our heart before we were born. His love was not in response to our love, but He initiated love and we love Him in return. Scripture: “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:10 NIV He took the initiative to love us first and sent His only beloved, sinless Son to the cross so that our sins could be forgiven and we could be set free from death. “Divine love takes the initiative to love others.” Verse by Verse Commentary This causes us both to think of one of our favorite scriptures, The Parable of the Wandering Sheep: “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. “What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish. Matthew 18:10-14 NIV Brothers and sisters, there is nothing we can do to lose God’s love. He has, and always will, love us. In your reflection today, we encourage you to reflect back about a moment in your life where you wandered off the path you were on. Perhaps it was a time that the enemy tempted you, tried to draw you away from God, away from fellow Christians, and into his grasp. ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-16 | Get Out with God | Day 16/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 16 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with Romans 8:10-11 NIV, which is yet another example of all that Jesus has done and continues to do for us. Dear brothers & sisters, Long before we were born, because of the sin of Adam, our bodies were “subject to death.” In Genesis we read: “And the LORD God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” Genesis 3:22 NIV This scripture often brings with it the question of why did God not forgive Adam and Eve when they didn’t obey Him, but instead forbid them from eating the tree of knowledge. Many will ask, why would God not forgive them and allow them to live forever? Why did He banish them from the Garden of Eden? God did not do this because He did not love Adam and Eve, quite the contrary, He banished them and forbid them to eat from the tree of life, therefore begin to die, because He loved them. He subjected their bodies to eventual death so that sin could be removed and not be perpetual within their bodies. The same is true for us; while we are in Christ, our spirit and soul are renewed, set free and forgiven, our bodies will still die due to the sin that indwells them. However, when we are in Christ, after death, our body will be renewed to a genuine, sin free body like that of Jesus. Our new, resurrected, heavenly body will be “permanent and indestructible” and something glorious. Scripture: “But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.” Romans 8:10-11 NIV While God banished Adam and Eve and subjected their bodies to death, this was not a death of illness. He still gives us the authority to heal our bodies and keep them from getting ill, when we believe that with Jesus’ death at the cross, we were healed. We have the authority to live long and healthy lives. Brothers and sisters, join us on our podcast today as we ponder these truths, remembering that Jesus’ death gave us full access to His authority in both heaven and earth. We look forward to sharing what God has placed on our hearts to share with you. ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-15 | Get Out with God | Day 15/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 15 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we dive in to 1 Peter 1:18-19 NIV. Dear brothers and sisters, If someone asked you to itemize your possessions, your most precious treasures, what would be on your list? Many of us might have items like our house, car, money, jewelry, fine china, heirloom items passed down from ancestors, silver, gold. What about the blood of Christ? Was that on your list? Scripture: “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” 1 Peter 1:18-19 NIV In today’s society, if we are not in consistent relationship with God and in His Word often, we can easily get whipped up, in the hustle and bustle and busy keeping up with everyone else. In that “churn” it is easy to put a high value on material items that society considers to be “treasured possessions” and to forget the most precious possession that was given to us... redemption and salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ. When we do not stay in the Word, remember and believe God’s promises, and put our value on things that society says we need to survive, instead of trusting in God alone, it is easy to lose hope, faith and forget that, in Jesus Christ, we were healed, saved, delivered and redeemed. What can you do in your daily life to keep Jesus’ sacrifice at the top of your “most treasured” list? Join us on today’s podcast as we discuss some of the practices we can follow to stay close to God as we continue our "Journey with Jesus". We are merely the vessels delivering His message and pray that, as you listen, this episode blesses you as God intended. ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-14 | Get Out with God | Day 14/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 14 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with Titus 3:4 NIV. Dear brothers and sisters, Today’s society makes it very easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of the “doing”. We live in a culture that rewards us for continually doing more, doing “better”, working harder and longer, earning more, keeping up with, or surpassing, others. Scripture: In all the busy, it is easy to forget to pause, just breathe, and “be” at one with Jesus. But, as today’s scripture says: “...he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,” Titus 3:4 NIV Why is it so hard to let go, let God, and just "be"? Why do we strive and hustle so much? Society has ingrained in us a need to be better and do more in order to be accepted, to be loved, liked and to belong. Because of this, we can easily be tempted to “go go go” until we are worn out, dried up, depleted and become ill in our spirit + soul + body. We give without pausing and refueling our spiritual “cup”. We give beyond what we have the capacity to give to keep society from looking at us as failures or ‘less than’. The enemy is always encouraging this to happen in our daily lives, so that he can then attack us in this vulnerable, worn out, and tired state. BUT God! As the Viking says, “We are human beings, not human doings.” God doesn’t care how much money we make, what our title is, or how many widgets we have sold this year. He only cares about our heart and being in relationship with us. He is desperately calling out to us to come and just “be” with Him, in our quiet place, our “wilderness”. However, His cry is often muffled or silenced by the “noise” of the daily busy. Brothers and sisters, we invite you to join us today as we take time to discuss how we can truly start being the human beings that God created us to be. Here’s a hint… we start by pressing pause on all the “doings” in our life and just being with God. We look forward to today’s time with you all. ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-13 | Get Out with God | Day 13/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 13 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we reflect on 1 Corinthians 1:30-31 NIV. Dear brothers and sisters, Each day we dive deeper in the Word as we prepare our daily Journey with Jesus podcast. Our faith deepens with each step, and we never expected the impact this Lenten journey would have on us. We have discovered that the more we are in the Word, the deeper our gratitude for Jesus becomes. Each day, we read the daily scripture, allow it to marinate, then discuss our individual perspectives with each other before recording our podcast. The gratitude in our hearts flows like never before and we thank Jesus for all that He has done. As we unpacked today’s scripture, our gratitude grew even deeper as we stacked another building block of thankfulness upon the previous one. Thank you, Jesus! Scripture: “But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the LORD.” 1 Corinthians 1:30-31 NIV Here is some commentary we stumbled upon as we prepared: “The moment we were born again the Holy Spirit baptized us into Christ, He positioned us in Christ. We exchanged all that we were for all that He is... and as members of His body we became one with Him. When God looks at believers He sees the perfection of Christ - the wisdom of Christ and the righteousness of Christ, for we are one with Him. God sees nothing of what we were... for positionally He only sees Christ in us - and [He] has accepted us in the Beloved. God accepts us on one condition - Christ.” At the moment Jesus gave His life for us at the cross, we were like a branch grafted into Him as the vine (John 15:5). In the same way that a vine is life for all its branches, so Jesus is our life. As we became one with Christ, ALL of who we once were died at the cross. God does not see the ‘old’ person, but only sees us as He sees Christ – His pure, righteous, sinless, and worthy child. We hope that as you join us today to discuss today’s scripture, that you too are blessed with the “ah ha” moment that we experienced when we really understood that we “are one with Christ.”. We look forward to spending time with you and sharing what God has placed on our hearts. ---- Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. EP-12 | Get Out with God | Day 12/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 12 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with Hebrews 2:14-15 NIV. Dear brothers and sisters, Why do we fear death? The emotions we feel when we lose someone close to us can often be driven by fear... a fear of not seeing them, a fear of the end of our life when that comes, fear of the unknown, and perhaps a questioning of our faith. Today’s scripture is a great reminder that, not only did Jesus surrender His sinless life to the cross to save us from our sins and draw us closer to God in the present, but also to defeat Satan, who had the power of eternal death. With His death, Jesus took the weapon of death from Satan that held us captive. Jesus forever broke that bondage of fear that Satan hangs over us. “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.” Hebrews 2:14-15 NIV Brothers and sisters, being in the Word helps us remember God’s promises, which are echoed from the Old Testament and on through the New. If we reflect on those promises and have faith and trust, we will find peace and not be captive to Satan’s fear tactics. Instead, we can draw closer to God, be comforted, and allow His love to reassure us. We will be renewed in faith each time we Get Out with Him, alone in the “wilderness” where we can hear Him clearly. The Words He recorded in the scriptures will begin to reframe the image on the inside of us and create the new reality of God in our lives. His peace, love and joy and will fill your spirit + soul + body to overflowing. Join us as we unpack Hebrews 2:14-15 NIV and will be discussing how the enemy uses our fear of death to hold us captive and in bondage when he already knows that he has been defeated. EP-11 | Get Out with God | Day 11/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 11 of our 40-Day "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection", we begin with Ephesians 2:12-13. Dear brothers and sisters, Have you ever felt that you didn’t belong, were left out, alienated from a group, or that you just didn’t fit in? Perhaps it was because you had different beliefs, looked or acted differently, or maybe it was because you were a foreigner from a different place. Scripture: “remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:12-13 As you set out on your journey today, we encourage you to reflect back on a moment you did not feel that you belonged. How did it feel to be separate and apart from a group, not wanted? What did you do? Did you show up authentically, just as you were? Or, did you access the situation, try to adapt, mold yourself to fit in and to try to please the group with hopes of being accepted? Brothers and sisters, if you have ever longed to belong and be a part of something larger than yourself, you are not alone. We have all longed to belong. Researcher and author, Brené Brown defines our desire to belong as: “...the innate human desire to be part of something larger than us. Because this yearning is so primal, we often try to acquire it by fitting in and by seeking approval, which are not only hollow substitutes for belonging, but often barriers to it. Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance.” Now, imagine for a moment how the Gentiles must have felt at the time of today’s scripture. They were not the “Chosen Ones”, but were foreigners, outcast, left out, not wanted, not accepted, and simply did not belong. They didn't have a place in God’s kingdom or a way to Him. BUT God. He desired to bring both Jew and Gentile together into His Kingdom that He gave his only beloved Son at the cross to do so. Join us as we dive deeper into Ephesians 2:12-13 and discuss how we are ALL God’s children that belong in His Kingdom, no longer needing to feel left out, unworthy, or that we don’t belong. If you have never read the story of Ruth from the Old Testament, please take a moment and pause from reading this article and hop over to this beautiful story that foreshadows Jesus’ willingness to become our kinsman-redeemer. In this story, you will find many parallels to how Jesus has provided for us when we couldn’t for ourselves. Perhaps, it was something made of ceramic and glass that was near and dear to your heart. If so, recall the crash to the floor and it breaking into a million, unfixable pieces. What did you feel when it happened? Perhaps you felt sadness for the loss, hopelessness that it never can be restored to new, or maybe you felt anger or shame for your hasty actions that caused the item to break. Were you worried about being blamed for breaking the item, or the pain you caused someone for breaking such a precious thing? You are not alone… we hear you and have felt those things.Things happen. We move fast, we don’t always think things through, and things easily break beyond the point of repair... precious things.Over the past several days, each scripture we have read reminds us of God’s love for us. They spoke of His forgiveness. They told of how He sacrificed the most precious thing to Him so that our sins could be erased and so that we could be made brand new. Today’s scripture (Romans 4:7-8 NIV) reaffirms this.Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them.”When Jesus died, we were made new with: NO flaws or cracks. NO blame for any hurt or pain we caused in the past. NO constant broadcast reminding us, and others, of our past sins.Instead, through Christ, God made a beautiful masterpiece, a mosaic, from our broken pieces. We invite you to join us as we unpack this scripture further and show just how strongly it relates to us today. EP-6 | Get Out with God | Day 6/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
In Day 6 of our 40-Day Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection, we begin with Colossians 2:13-14 NIVHello brothers and sisters,We hope your Journey with Jesus is helping you to confidently draw closer to God and allowing you to let go of the things that once held you back from a closer relationship with Him. We pray you find “joy in the journey” as your body comes into alignment with your spirit and soul and you begin to feel a divine balance in the triad of spirit + soul + body.Yesterday’s scripture (Hebrews 10:19-22) shared with us that Jesus’ journey to, and death on, the cross tore back the curtain between us and God and, in doing so, made a way for us to approach Him directly.Today’s scripture reinforces the magnitude of what was done for us and how it truly set us free to experience joy.“When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.” Colossians 2:13-14 NIVNow that we have learned that God has wiped our slate clean, have you let your sin go and allowed the Holy Spirit to work in your life and fill your heart with joy? If not, what do you need to heal from? What do you need to let go of today? EP-5 | Get Out with God | Day 5/40 - "Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection"
Hi, brothers and sisters,Welcome to our “Get Out with God” podcast. We are Rick and Kristine Ingraham, founders of The Viking and the Lioness Ministries, Inc. As we read this scripture and prepared to share what God placed on our heart to share, we felt an overwhelming sense of FREEDOM. For those that know us, you know we do not like to be caged and want to be wild and FREE. As we read this verse, it did just that. It FREED us...from rules, regulations, guidelines, shame, blame, constraints, chains in our desire to draw closer to and into a more intimate relationship with Christ. We both want to know Him better. We want to be able to hear His voice, His calming whisper and guidance on next steps. We want His voice to be the only One that we hear above all the "white noise" in life. We don't just want our ears to hear, but our spirit + soul + body. We want to “be still” and be FREED by what we hear. We what to "know" that it is the voice of God and that all will be well... no question, no doubt, no fear. Today's scripture, Hebrews 10:19-22 NKJV began to do just that.“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” Hebrews 10:19-22 NKJVWe invite you to join us as we dive deeper into the depth and magnitude that today’s scripture carries. We hope this podcast series blesses you as you strengthen your relationship with the Lord during this Lenten season. In His precious love,Shalom shalom (perfect peace)Rick & Kristine Ingraham - The Viking & The LionessThe Viking & The Lioness Ministries, Inc.Connect with us:THEVIKINGANDTHELIONESS.COM / INSTAGRAM / FACEBOOK

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:”You might be asking yourself, “What does this passage really mean? I know I have been forgiven of my sins. Isn’t that reconciliation?” Until we dug in a little deeper into the true meaning of reconciliation, we thought the same. It wasn’t until we discovered that forgiveness and reconciliation were not the same, but that reconciliation is the last step in forgiveness, that the impact of this verse was life altering. Reconciliation is truly where restoration begins.Reconciliation, when it happens, is the most beautiful step in forgiveness. It marks the end of the estrangement which was caused by the original sin, and where harmony and fellowship can begin to be restored. In the passage above, Paul is speaking of reconciliation between God and humanity.Come join us as we look at this passage and what reconciliation truly is and why it is not only important in our earthly relationships, but also in our relationship with the Lord. We will break apart this scripture further and share examples of how this might be applied in your daily life.We hope this podcast series blesses you as you strengthen your relationship with the Lord during this Lenten season.

This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.” The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification."We hear you. We know that, it can be difficult to let go and trust and have faith in God's plan, especially when we cannot see what is coming. When our mind wanders from a place of trust, we find it helpful to pause and focus our eyes back on The One and His promises. We are comforted by today's scripture, which shares the testimony of Abraham's incredible faith. The scripture goes on to share the story of just one of the promises God made to Him coming true. After many other incredible acts of obedience, trust, and faith, Abraham, at 99 years of age, continues to trust God.Come join us as we dive deeper into His Word and pray with you.We hope this podcast series blesses you as you strengthen your relationship with the Lord during this Lenten season. In His precious love,Shalom shalom (perfect peace)Rick & Kristine Ingraham - The Viking & The LionessThe Viking & The Lioness Ministries, Inc.Connect with us:THEVIKINGANDTHELIONESS.COM / INSTAGRAM/ FACEBOOK
