Hi! Welcome to the Girls Against the Gap podcast. This podcast will be featuring conversations with young female change makers who are fighting against the gender gap in leadership roles through their passions. Our goal is to bridge the gender gap of women in leadership positions by encouraging Gen-Zers to start their own initiatives to change the world, to become active in major issues facing our generation, and step up as the leaders and changemakers we need in our future. We believe everyone has the power to change the world.

    Social Justice in Portland, Mental Health Advocacy, The Power of Kode with Klossy, AI Ethics, and the Intersection of STEM + Advocacy with Jenny Duan.

    Jenny Duan is an incoming first-year at Stanford University passionate about AI ethics, mental health advocacy, and social justice movements. Originally from Portland, OR, Jenny spent most of her time in high school immersed in community projects ranging from direct service with people experiencing homelessness to science education to cultural advocacy, serving on multiple nonprofit boards and aiding legislative campaigns in her area. Also deeply involved with technology, Jenny is an alum and IA with Kode With Klossy as well as a hackathon participant and a founding team member of @Inclusively.ai, a startup that uses AI-based tools to detect biased and exclusionary language. For her work, Jenny has been recognized as a 2022 US Presidential Scholar, Generation Google Scholar, NCWiT AiC National Awardee, and more. In her free time, Jenny loves to play the piano, read, explore new ice cream places, and travel through Oregon's beautiful natural scenery.     Fighting for Menstrual Equity, Tackling Period Taboos, and Running a Non-profit Organization with Grace Kim

    Grace Kim is a South Korean-based youth rights activist focused on menstrual equity. Passionate about the intersection of gender and healthcare, she will be majoring in medical sciences at university this upcoming year. She is the founder and the executive director of the Mini Moon Project, which focuses on eliminating menstrual taboos by providing sustainable menstrual kits to people in need. Her organization has distributed a total of 2,000 menstrual kits and approximately 30,000 educational materials across six countries. Striving to eliminate the stigma around menstruation, she was invited to speak at global health conferences hosted by Harvard University and Johns Hopkins University. In 2022, she was selected to be the recipient of the Diana Award and the Pfizer-One Young World Scholarship.
