Stop Silencing The Children with guest Megan Hollingsworth
I sat down with Megan Against Injustice, RN to discuss the trend of labeling children with mental illnesses and prescribing drugs without addressing the spiritual and emotional causes. This is a topic that both her and I have experience with because this tactic was used against us as children. We are here to sound the alarm. To speak up against those who are knowingly and unknowingly harming children who do not have a voice. In this episode Megan also brought up just how normalized psychological abuse tactics have become. Her voice has become a threat to the status quo, but that was never her intention. She has healed in order to put an end the generational pattern of abuse and has a heart to spread the message of healing through the testimony of what Jesus has done for her. Deliverance and Healing | Dispelling the Myths with Clare Cunningham
On this episode of Growing Together In Christ, I had the opportunity to have Clare Cunningham on to talk about her experience with deliverance and healing ministry and to dispel the basic myths around this subject matter. She is a singer and songwriter whose life was radically transformed when she met Jesus Christ in 2020. Since she has realized her true identity in Christ, as a warrior for the kingdom of light, she speaks on behalf of those who cannot yet speak for themselves. I became interested in deliverance over a year ago, not only due to my own struggles but because I have walked with many who have given their lives to Christ but still cannot seem to attain the freedom that I believe we have in Jesus. There is a very real issue plaguing Christians today in which they say the prayer to accept Jesus into their heart and follow Him the best they can, but they are still suffering in unimaginable ways, often in isolation. These things don’t seem to be getting addressed in the modern church. Such as, ongoing addiction, suicidal ideation, unexplainable health issues and even physical attacks from the unseen when one lays down at night, such was the case for Clare. Many are suffering in silence thinking this is just how they were made or that perhaps these things are a part of life to be accepted. Many of us were taught to outsource our physical and emotional healing to the world, but it is through the work of the cross in our lives that true and lasting freedom is found. We need the support, guidance and prayers of other followers of Christ to lead us out of the dark and into His light. Clare and I explore a piece of her path to freedom through the ministry of deliverance and healing. The people and ministries mentioned on this episode are:Kevin E Beasley’s ministry can be found at OBS Prayer ConnectJared Gregory is the author of Deliverance Demystified and his ministry can be found at The Defining Place You can find Clare on YouTube to check out her music as well as hear her testimony or discover more at Clare Cunningham - singer songwriter performer. Spiritual Warfare and AI with Christopher Lind
I had the opportunity to chat with Christopher Lind about the grave risks posed by AI and the destructive force it can be in the lives of all people, particularlly for the follower of Christ. He breaks things down into easily digestable chunks for those of us who do not fully grasp the pitfalls of the digital space. This conversation is not meant to cause irratational fear, rather to equip you to move forward into this space fully reliant on the Lord Almighty. It is vital that we all remain vigialnt and fully informed. Technology can be used as a tool for good and to even glorify God, but as with everything it can also lead to our distruction when we do what is right in our own eyes. As Christopher points out, the battle is not new. It has been going on since Genesis 3. Thanks for listening to Growing Together In Christ! Subscribe for free to receive episodes and support my work. Discernment and Hearing The Voice Of God with Naomi Woods
On this episode of Growing Together In Christ I was joined by my dear friend, Naomi Woods, to discuss hearing from God and the importance and process of gaining discernment to distinguish good from evil. Specifically when those voices come from some of the most sacred spaces, such as the church, and those who identify as Christians but do not operate in agreement with the Holy Spirit. You can visit my newsletter at Jamie to read up on my introductory study of discernment. Thanks for listening to Growing Together In Christ! Part Two Of: The Struggle To Break Free of Pornography Addiction and Back Into The Arms Of The Lord with guest Bryan Horton
This is Growing Together In Christ with Jamie Bohn. Join us for part two of my conversation with Bryan Horton in which he explains how he finally found freedom from his 30 year struggle with a pornography addiction and other various forms of sin through ultimate surrender and obedience to Jesus Christ. If you missed his backstory in part one click here to listen. Bryan and I discuss the Biblical principals as they apply to his story of transformation, the difficult decison to get divorced from his last wife, the necessity of seeking the Lord in everything, all throughout the day, the act of confession and repentance, the importance of being deliberate about what one consumes, his experience with the evacuation of the spirits that came against him due to opening the door to demons and the immense power behind calling on the name of Jesus.Whether you struggle with this particular sin or not, most, if not all humans have an idol at some point in their lives and they are not always as obvious as one may tend to believe. Anything that we place in higher regard than God, anyone or anything we cannot live without, is an idol and thus it is in fact a sin. The first and greatest commandment is:You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.Mark 12:30 Thanks for listening to Growing Together In Christ ! The Struggle To Break Free Of Porn Addiction And Back Into The Arms Of The Lord with Bryan Horton (Part One)
On this episode of Growing Together in Christ I am joined by Bryan Horton, a fellow writer on Substack under his name: Bryan Horton.Bryan’s primary goal for writing is to point people back to basic obedience and trust in God and away from the endless arguments about those things that are not a matter of salvation. He struggled with sin, and specificly pornography, for most of his life. In this episode he shares his journey that led to a transformative relationship with Christ that would free him from the bondage of sin and destruction. As Bryan tried to find a relationship with Christ in church he became disillusioned with God and the inability to stop his porn addiction through obedience alone. In part one he explains his messy walk of falling and failing in his attempt to stop engaing in this evil on his own strength. We have recorded a part two so that we could talk about the solution he has found in complete and total surrender to Christ. Subcribe to be the first to receive it when it is released:Bryan and I dive into a topic I had no intention of getting into and that was my first sign that God had another plan. I was personally affected by pornography as a child and honestly wasn’t looking to talk about it. It gave way to the sin in my life just as it did his. But I have committed to God to use all things that were meant for evil for the healing and building up of the people who follow Him. So when I am disturbed, it tells me I must face it and expose it to the light. Evil thrives on our silence. Pornography is rampant in our society amoung men and women. It is being viewed by our neighbors and friends at church. As much as we humans want to keep our head in the sand, that is only giving power to the enemy. Just don’t do it and obey God isn’t working. According to brain imaging the damage is real and the bodies response is likened to opiate use. Sexual immorality in all forms is erroding our society, destroying children and tearing apart families. We simply cannot pretend it isn’t happening.Jesus said to the church in Thyatira: But I have this against you; that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality… Revelation 2:20This isn’t new. The spirit of Jezebel is alive and living among us and cannot be tolerated. I owe a debt of gratitude to Bryan for being willing to shift at the last minute and discuss this with me. He is indeed a brother in Christ. Each time we face the things we are afraid of we grow closer to being the person God created us to be. Payer for all who hearLord use the exposure of this evil, to guide others to freedom from the bondage of sin that grips their soul and suffocates their life.Cast out the spirit that corrupts and corrodes Your people. Use our witness to open a dialog in the body of Christ so that all will turn to Jesus and repent. May Your healing hand restore us to a way of life that is far better than what the world has to offer. In Jesus mighty name, AmenThanks for listening to Growing Together In Christ ! Knowing The Character Of God with Adrena Anderson-Ward
If all you desire is peace, open your Bible and get to know the character of God. Nothing on this earth can fill the space meant for your Father.Join me as I chat with Adrena Anderson-Ward, author of the newsletter and podcast: Every Day Grace with Adrena . Adrena uses her newsletter to equip others to grow in faith and to build Kingdom mistries online. The foundation of everything she does is built on Christ. When she opened the Bible and read it in it’s entirety, her life changed. She found out who she was and what her true identity was all along. This was an encouraging and uplifting conversation focused around, what we agree, are the building blocks to having a lasting relationship with the Creator of the universe. We want each and every person to know the love of the Father through the reading of His word and devotion to prayer, but where do you start? We answer that very question.Quotes to remember from the show“Something told me to just go buy a Bible and get to know him for the very time for myself. And that is where the peace came from. It’s getting to know the character of God, getting to know who my Father is, who created me, why I was created, the covenant that I have.”“At a certain point, you have to put your big girl underwear on and be like, you know what? It’s time for me to own my relationship with Christ. I have to stop listening to what this 30 second clip says. I have to stop taking everything that I see online or what my parents told me or what my pastor from the seventies told me as gospel. It’s time for me to take ownership of my relationship with Christ. And I think for me, that was the pivotal moment in my life. I was like, no, I’m not going to continue to rely on my grandmother’s faith and my grandmother’s prayers”“What God is showing you through the scriptures is: I’ve always had a plan for your redemption”“The life that you’re actually seeking is in the Word.”“Faith is action. Faith is movement. Faith is not passive… Faith requires movement. In order to see who God is, you gotta move.”“If you stay in that devotional style of reading where a book tells you to go here or something like that, I think it’s very catered to your carnal self. You’re just getting a word that makes you feel good and fuels you to go into the day for whatever you may be going through. My hope and prayer is that doesn’t offend anyone but sometimes we need to be convicted a little bit because I know someone will read this and they’ve been doing that devotional style reading… you got to move past that, you got to put some structure, some intentionality behind it and you really have to get that holistic view of the Bible and the only way you can do that is by reading it”“You got to sacrifice going out with your friends or doing what you want to do or keeping the busy calendar so you can sit at the feet of Jesus”“The Bible will walk you through and help to shape your identity. And halfway through, you’ll start to realize like, oh, oh, So I’m not what the world has told me.”“When you put scripture between you and someone it’s so hard because you’re not attacking me you’re coming after Jesus”Scripture we referenced -You will know them by their fruit Matthew 7:20-He disciplines those He loves Hebrews 12:6-God is slow to anger Psalm 103:8-His Mercy is new every morning Lamentations 3:22-23-Did I not make the mouth of man? Exodus 4:10-12-We have power through Him to do the works John 14:12-According to the level of your faith Matthew 9:29-Spiritual milk 1 Peter 2:2, Hebrews 5:11-14, 1 Corinthians 3:13-Seek first the kingdom of God Matthew 6:33-If He dresses the lilies of the field, what more can He do for you? Romans 5:3-Every good thing comes down from the Father of Lights who never ever changes James 1:17-I want everyone I encounter to hear: well done my good and faithful servant Matthew 25:21-Correct them with gentleness 1 Peter 3:15-Teachers are judged more strictly James 3:1-Woe to those who scatter My sheep Jeremiah 23:1Visit Adrena’s page, subscribe to her newsletter and reach out to her for help with digital discipleship at Every Day Grace with AdrenaThanks for listening to the Growing Together In Christ podcast! Being The Hands And Feet Of Christ: An Interview With Rosemary Van Gelderen
Join me today as I talk with Rosemary Van Gelderen author of the newsletter, Fed by Ravens on Substack.Rosemary is a wife, mother of seven children, a grandmother and most of all a follower of Christ. She writes about her experiences on the streets, serving those struggling with addiction, homelessness and families that have been torn apart. Rosemary has been healed as she looks into the faces of the people that she meets and see’s Jesus looking back at her. With the deeply rooted love of God, she has been able to love these wandering souls and continues to show up for her family through the darkness, moving closer to the light. This is a battle that can only be won by dwelling in the valley with Jesus by your side.I discovered Rosemary’s writing when her daughter, Misha, was one of those children living on the street, poison running through her veins and desperate for a Savior. When Misha got pregnant, she came home for the last time and against all odds recently gave birth to a precious and healthy baby boy. Misha’s little warrior’s name is, Oscar, meaning “spear of God”. Listen to the podcast for a preview of Rosmary’s upcoming book! She is currently writing on abuse in the church and share’s a preview of that with us today.Scripture ReferencedLike arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Psalm 127:4Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, Ephesians 3:20For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4He delivers the afflicted by their affliction and opens their ear by adversity. Job 36:15For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.Hebrews 12:6Let the Redeemed Say So Psalm 107We sincerely hope that this inspires others to be the hand’s and feet of Christ to the people you meet every day. Jesus call’s us to share what what we have with others and to give to those in need. Each and every one of us has something to give. I pray that each of us use the life that God has blessed us with to bring hope to another person. Comfort others with the comfort you have found in Christ and He will reward you. Searching for God: Interview with Brandon Ward, Episode 002
Join me, Jamie Bohn, as I chat with Brandon Ward on Growing Together In Christ.Brandon shares about his journey to discover a relationship with Christ, to learn what the Bible actually says and find order within his soul through the saving power of the Lord. He is an author and the voice behind “Order Within”. A podcast and newsletter on Substack where he shares about God, the Bible and the journey of faith in the modern world. He does not consider himself an expert but has been redeemed in Christ and he is taking others along for the ride.He is also a proud husband and father. We discuss his quest for his true purpose in life which he found in the God of the Bible. Through reading the word of God for himself he discovered a relationship with Jesus he had been searching for his whole life. He found that much of what the world said about God was never true to begin with. His excitement about learning what God really says is palpable through his writing and his podcasts. He speaks on what many people experience: fear of a God they never truly knew, wondering where they fit in, in the world and if there is a God, why a good God allows suffering and so much more.He touches on a very important topic- Attacks from other Christians,, as he shares what he is learning from reading the Bible for himself. We discuss the importance of knowing the enemy and that it isn’t as simple as what is portrayed by the world. Spiritual forces of evil are very real and cannot be denyed, but God is bigger and He always wins.Scripture referenced in this conversationYou are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.Matthew 5:14-16As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.Genesis 50:20Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, ‘from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.Ephesians 4:15-16What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.Philippians 1:18What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.Ecclesiastes 1:9Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’? And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, ‘but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ‘But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. ‘Genesis 3:1-4Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.John 14:6But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel , who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.Revelation 2:20Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.Luke 10:19But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”Matthew 16:23 This is a public episode. Episode One: Conversation with Deborah Hillyer
Join me as I chat with Deb Hillyer on Episode One of Growing Together in Christ.Deb Hillyer writes about her relationship with Christ and her journey in faith on Substack under Endless Possibilities given to her by the Holy Spirit, made possible by faith in God.She is a wife and mother and most importantly a follower of Christ. She has written a book titled “Unless He Hurts You”. When her most precious possessions were threatened, she turned to God and began to discover the power of faith. She learned and lives by the mantra that “faith is to believe what you cannot see and the reward for that faith is to see what you believed”. Join us as we discuss subjects such as domestic violence and abuse, divorce, attending church, striving to do what God desires for us and other areas that don’t tend to get touched on often, such as new age practices and following Christ. If we, as followers of Christ, avoid certain subjects the space will surely get filled by those who serve other gods. We are not experts in this area, but we talk about it anyway. Deb shares her experience with visualizing Jesus with her daughter as she was praying in faith for her healing from anorexia.Scripture mentioned during podcastEcclesiaAnd I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my (ecclesia) church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.Matthew 16:18 Divorce (two of many examples)But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.Matthew 5:32 So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.Matthew 19:6 Even the demons believe Jesus is GodYou believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!James 2:19 Warning for TeachersNot many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.James 3:1 Shema (Jewish prayer)Deuteronomy 6:4–9, 11:13–21Thanks for engaging with Growing Together In Christ!
