    On the bench this week we have no guests, only the hosts of Her journey podcast Blaine and Danni reminiscing on season 1 of the pod and how far it has come. We delve into what people don't see behind the scenes and what it took to start the podcast. We talk about the community we have started to make through Her journey and the people we have met along the way such as Emma Mutch who has been a fan favourite from the beginning as well as being a true believer in the pod from the very start and Shannon Mather who helped the pod grow and allowed us to use our platform as an extra voice to share peoples stories, the incredible opportunities we have had the chance to have from the podcast growing. Not only have people able to open up with their stories it has allowed us to work on things ourselves to become better versions of who we are and to understand how our minds work. Her journey is just getting started follow the journey with us into season 2 for some amazing new guests lined up.

    On the bench with Bromley FC winger Emily Woodhouse

    On the bench this week we have Emily Woodhouse on the pod. In this week’s episode we delve into Emily’s playing career starting from a young age playing for a team in Andover before having a large period of time away from the game. We talk about how she returned to playing football and began in a women’s team such as basingstoke, Winchester City Flyers, Dartford, and Bromley. Emily opens up about the person who believed in her to be able to get back to playing, finding the love and having her outlet on the pitch once again. Not only is she a very hard working footballer she is also very hard working within her job as a PE teacher where we discuss how much of an impact Emily had on Danni’s life when she was her PE teacher growing up and how she was able to create a pathway in women’s football for Danni.

    On the bench with Winchester City Flyers striker and defender Chelsie Hay and Sharna Capel

    On the bench this week we have Chelsie Hay and Sharna Capel on the pod. In this episode we delve into both their playing careers from youngsters and when they used to play together at youth football and then where football took them in separate directions. We speak to them about where their adulting footballing journeys started, Chelsie getting a scholarship to play football in America and Sharna playing for Portsmouth youth set up making her debut for the first team at 16. When their paths met again they began playing together at Winchester city flyers putting that bond they built together at a young age back onto the football pitch in a race to win the league.

    On the bench with IGF CEO & founder Sophie Hollis

    On the bench this week we have Sophie Hollis on the pod. In this episode we delve into Sophie’s playing career and how she ended up playing in America on a scholarship which then transitioned into her coaching career blossoming and finding the love for teaching others the game of football. We also talk about where the idea of IGF came about and how it started before it getting interrupted by covid which was a blessing in disguise for IGF to help it grow at a rapid speed from doing online free football sessions for girls. We then speak about the growth of IGF and everything that it offers coming from foundation sessions to elite sessions as well as holiday camps for all ages.     On the bench this week we have Maisie Buckley on the pod. In this weeks episode we delve into her goalkeeping career starting in the UK before going overseas to play football in America on a scholarship as well as teams in the UK such as Hersham, Farnborough, and Ash United. We will also talk about the personal battles that Maisie faced in America and now feels ready to share her story.     On the bench with Farnborough defender Danielle Jones and Tooting Bec manager Luis Emanuel

    On the bench this week we have Danielle Jones and Luis Emanuel on the pod. In this week’s episode we delve into Danielle Jones playing career and her time playing at some of the most prestigious clubs in the area such as Badshot lea, Farnham and Farnborough. We also talk about her injury she sustained in one of the most craziest ways an injury has ever happened. And we discuss future plans for herself at Farnborough and if shed ever like to become a a coach for the path for future girls. We then delve into Luis’s coaching career and how he was able to create Farnham and bring in players from in the area and build the big Farnham name that everyone knows. We then delve into where Luis is managing now at Tooting Bec and the exciting challenges he faces with the new team there. We end the pod on what football means to Danielle and Luis and how much football means to both of them and in their relationship.

    On the bench this week we have Porchester coach Molly small on the pod. In this episode we delved into Molly’s playing career and where she started playing at a high level of football from a young age at academies and at grassroots football to then where she excelled her playing career in women’s football. We then lead onto where the love for coaching began for Molly and what made her get into wanting to start coaching and see the levels she is able to reach such as getting her UEFA coaching badges. Not only has Molly been a player on the pitch or a coach on the sidelines she has also managed her own teams for consecutive seasons and took the teams to fa cup runs and winning promotions.     On the bench this week we have ex ash manager Dan Dullaway. In this episode we delve into Dans coaching career and where it began and what got him into coaching starting from coaching mens teams but then transitioning into coaching and managing women’s teams, we talk about how he found the change, what he found challenging, but also how he was able to thrive within that environment and start a new team from scratch. We also talk about why Dan wanted to step away from managing women’s football and talk about things people don’t see behind the scenes when being a manager is a 24/7 job and how it can affect your personal and home life away from football.

    On the bench this week we have Sherfield English women's manager Mickey Lovell and their captain Fiona Avis on the pod. This week we delve into what it's like to start a brand new women's team from scratch and the challenges Mickey faced from the get go. We talk about Fiona's horrible ankle injury and what it means for the team when the captain is out for the foreseeable future. And we also chat about what football means to the both of them and how being involved within football helps them become better versions of themselves and to grow not just in football but in life as well.

    On the bench this week we have Kaitlin Lawrence on the pod. In this weeks we delve into Kaitlin's professional netball career and the levels she was able to achieve whilst playing at University and in the NSL.     On the bench this week we have Sophie Kirk on the pod. She is the founder and CEO of Melp foundation. In this weeks episode we delve into how her journey to becoming a mental health therapist began as it was not the traditional route that many would consider taking. We discuss Melp foundation and the variety of tools it has to help people in need. We also talk about the Melp app that Sophie created as an easy and accessible mental health app available for anyone who needs to talk to someone in the moment. As wells this, there are many fundraisers that Melp has organised past and present which is suitable for any abilities and for a nice friend's or family day out.

We also talk about how Jess and Danni's friendship began and how they were there for each other during their toughest times.

    On the bench this week we have the one and only Blaine Conway on the pod. In this episode we delve into how he made the change from mens football to women's football and the adaptations that he had to come across through that. We also discuss how he has found stepping up and becoming the Ash women's manager in such a quick space of time and where he wants and sees the season to end but also the goals that he wants Ash to be able to achieve within themselves. Football can be an outlet for many but it can't solve everything in one go. We go into what Blaine has had to fight in his personal life which has involved addiction, depression, mental health and almost cos him his life.     On the bench this week we have a very inspirational guest on its Tracy Yates. In this episode we delve into what it was like for her being the first female coach in the area and what she found motivating or challenging about that. We also discuss the the inspiring work she has put out there within the many youth clubs she created and how they helped many children and teenagers stay out of trouble and how many lives she has changed from her efforts that she put into her work. We talk about how she has always been there for others during their times of need but who was there for Tracy. Find out in todays episode!

    On the bench this week we have Aldershot Captain Shannon Mather on the pod. In this week's episode we delve into how she has found being the captain and what goes into being a good captain for the whole team. We also talk about how devastating her ACL injury has been for her mentally and physically and the struggles that come along with dealing with an injury like that and also balancing being a mum on the side as well.And a huge thank you to everyone who has donated to the GoFundMe without your help Shannon would have had to wait 12 months for her surgery but she has now been scheduled in for her surgery this Friday!
