In The Now

My favorite thing I’ve learned as a 200hr Certified Yoga Teacher is that sometimes all we need to do is take a moment to observe what’s going on; both mentally and physically. A little bit of mindfulness goes a long way. From things going on with ourself, or things going on in the world around us, and anything in between, mindful thinking holds great power. Welcome to In The Now: with Claudia Yurrita, a podcast with intentions to bring a sense of comfort and understanding when it comes to the world of emotions, mental health, and of course, mindfulness.

    7. The Practice of Cold Water Immersion

In this episode, Claudia discusses the practice, benefits and science behind cold water immersion. Cold water immersion is the practice of exposing oneself to cold water for set increments of time, in a monitored environment, for therapeutic effects. Considering the cold is a natural stressor, when exposed to the cold, the body's sympathetic nervous system kicks in, resulting in a "fight or flight" reaction. When looking at the physiological changes within the body during the practice of cold water immersion, it is clear to see how this practice uses the body's natural responses to increase well-being. A consistent act of cold water immersion yields many benefits. 4. Gratitude and Perspective

Sometimes we just need to look at life through a different lense, through a different perspective. In this episode of In The Now, Claudia shared some of her favorite stories where she experienced moments of pure gratitude, that brought a new outlook. Sometimes things don’t go as planned, but that’s okay, because your outlook and mindset is what counts. And through expressing appreciation, our mindsets can grow even more loving.

    2. A Dive Into the World of Yoga

A little bit about the yoga that is not typically heard of in the western hemisphere. In the west, yoga is considered a physical practice: a way to stretch and a way to move your body. While this may be true, yoga has much more to offer. In this episode, Claudia dives deep into the birth of Modern Postural Yoga, it a history, and dabbles in yoga’s philosophy and practices, other than the typical asanas that are commonly associated with yoga.
