The Jataka Tales (or Jatak Katha in Hindi) are a compilation of some of Lord Buddha's most renowned stories that he used to convey his teachings and messages. These were originally told in the Pali language. In later years, Sanskrit scholar Aryasoor translated them into a collection of Sanskrit stories named ‘Jatakmala’ comprising 547 tales.There have been numerous versions of these stories since then. Gautam Buddha delivered his teachings in the form of amazing stories. These stories are primarily about Buddha's previous incarnations and are intended to instill the ideals of self-sacrifice, honesty, morality, and other important social values in common people.Animals, especially elephants played a very important role in his stories. These children loved stories were so powerful that they became part of Indian folklore over centuries.
