All my own AI assisted tracks, are free to download. I do not monetise any of these tracks; I do however claim copyright in all but a few of the lyrics and the music in many of the lyricsI have been writing songs "on and off" since1959 until the present. As a songwriter, I write purely for the pleasure it gives me. I have always been pleased with my songs which have been mainly from genres such as folk/blues, rock and roll and general pop (in the style of the sixties). My musical skills are quite limited and the early demos on Soundcloud, prior to two years ago, are of me singing and accompanying myself on guitar or latterly ukulele. I can strum the strings well enough, but there my skills end.I have also "toyed" with electronic keyboards and briefly with sequencing software (ACID Forge). I should also include harmonica and various percussion instruments, oh and not forgetting the Kazoo - from my years in a ukulele club band.Recently I discovered Suno AI and the results have astound

Let's Make It Happen
A new song at last, Used an old David Bowie technique, Saw an interview on video a long time ago in which he described where he got some of his song lyrics from. Cutting headlines from newspapers/magazines/etc he used to assemble them into lyrics. Saying this was where he got some of his stranger lyrics from. I don't use his technique as is but do get some inspiration from the odd phrase or maybe a word that I might not use. On this song, I let Suno develop the music, with some judicious prompting.

A Brand New Life
A song I wrote, after playing around with the theme for ages, I think I am satisfied but there has to be an end point sometime. It also uses a Suno clone of my voice. Hope you like it. Lyric - A brand new Day [verse1] A new day is dawning, How should I feel? Everything I doubted. I’m about to reveal. How will I know, When stability returns Will my life be improved Or will I still have concerns [pre-chorus] The curtain opens New decisions must be made No more binding myself To the past… Not today… [chorus, build] This day could be the first day Of a brand new life… I have made the decisions I have to make; I feel lucky, oh so lucky (oh so lucky….) I am the only thing Holding myself back Today…… [verse2] I rise with the sun I’ve a new chance today It’s a challenge I know But I will be brave Open the window Let out the remorse Today is a barrier I am willing to cross [pre-chorus] The curtain opens New decisions must be made No more binding myself To the past… Not today… [chorus, build] This day could be the first day Of a brand new life… I have made the decisions I have to make; I feel lucky, oh so lucky (oh so lucky….) I am the only thing Holding myself back Today…… [bridge, drop] I’ve had more than enough I’ve made up my mind I’ll lose inhibitions I’ve made up my mind I’ll throw off the yoke Holding me back A new world awaits What more can I ask [chorus, build] This day could be the first day Of a brand new life… I have made the decisions I have to make; I feel lucky, oh so lucky (oh so lucky….) I am the only thing Holding myself back Today…… [outro, ] [Instrumental solo] I am the only thing, (I am the only one) Holding myself back Today……

Cardboard Towers (voice cover)
Sorry about this, I believe it is called procrastinating, the wonderful sunny weather in the UK after what seems like months of rain, had seen me trying to get my garden ready for summer. This evening, while relaxing after a busy day, I came across this song - a track I had to cover using the new VOICE feature from Suno. (it also needed a correction to the lyric). I feel much better about it now, hope you like it.

My new shirt
The weekends, I find, are a very quiet time om Sound Cloud. So I decided to take the opportunity to upload a couple more poems (set to music). There is a story that resulted in this poem - something that rarely happens with my "songs" which tend to be triggered by a phrase or similar which I come across and feel it would make a decent lyric. Some years ago, I spent a weekend in Brighton, here in the UK; a place with a reputation for quirky shops in an area known as THE LANES. My wife dragged me into a men's outfitters, and saw a shirt on display. Well my dress code might have been called "boring" or "dowdy". Lots of different shades of grey, white and maybe blue,; but certainly plain coloured, never a trace of a pattern. This shirt was certainly based on white, but had a bright red, large paisely pattern. Very much not ME. But my wife insisted, it was bought, quite expensive, rarely worn and became something of a talking point. Anyway, it eventually got it's own poem and here it is with a slightly amusing treatment - barber shop quartet with a tuba and xylophone. MY NEW SHIRT Today, I purchased a brand new shirt A little bit red but, OK; It's colourful, patterned Will stand out in a crowd, Wearing it makes a statement, "This is me, and I'm proud" To be just a little bit different. Just for once in my life I'll stand tall So don't tell me it's flash; Nothing so rash! It's just a little bit loud - That's all.

MY JOURNAL JAR
A little pretentious piece. I just decided to add another poem to the album. I never used a journal jar myself, but joined many challenges from web sites I belonged to at one time. I wanted a female voice for this poem and selected a VOICE/persona which I had created from a classical piece of music. I was a little surprised by the result but came to accept if not to like it. Love to know how you feel if you should listen to the track. MY JOURNAL JAR by John Dyhouse Each day I open up my journal jar, When I find time to rest. I pick a slip from deep within, To provide a little test. Chose at random that's the key And write a poem upon request. A poem based upon the prompt Now in your hand, Just do your best. That's all I ask, and nothing more, Apply your writer's mind. Invest In words, attest to deeds to come. Or maybe even deeds repressed. Just write, compose, transcribe your thoughts; Don't leave them unexpressed. Don't wait, it will work out in the end, resulting in a poem, to leave you most impressed.

If (voice cover)
This is a song I wrote in the late sixties (sorry I keep guessing, I did not keep very good records in my youth) but I was always unhappy about not being able to find a rhyme for the last line of the bridge. I was listening to an old playlist/album and this lyrical issue again jarred with me. As I was busy around the home I was late with another new song, so of course I decided to do a cover with a clone of my voice - I love this new feature. I had originally uploaded a solo version to Suno in my mad rush to refresh all my songs with Suno ; So I simply used the lyrics as written. This time I did something which I should have done long ago; instead of searching for a rhyme for that line, I simply turned the problem upon it's head and changed the line which I was trying to rhyme with - simples. No problem at all. It improves the whole song for me. So here is a newly improved version, I hope you like it as much as I do.

Going to the City - remix
Realised that I did not have a Suno version of this acoustic song. So using the recent v5.5 and the voice feature, covered an original live recording of this track (written & performed by myself, solo) Suno was prompted to add a little extra instrumental support with a Spanish guitar. Hope you like it

Words
This is a very old song, which I had not paid much attention to over the years; but it jumped out at me as being suitable for testing the VOICE cloning feature. I see to remember that when I wrote it, I was inspired by a similarly named song by a new band from Australia. Yep, The Bee Gees.

I really need to know -(voice cover)
Another cover of one of my original songs, Near the end of my trial of the Suno Voice feature. Saw a comment on FB today that claimed the voice was not actually a clone; it was more probably the closest pick by Suno from its library of voices that sounded like the supposed voice to be cloned. I have to say that mirrors my own experience. Depends very much on the song genre/style. May need to create a library of my own clones for each genre and style. Maybe those claiming this works well, only create similar songs. PS I think this is a pretty accurate clone on this track, but well improved and more like a professional singer.

Mr Nobody (voice cover)
A cover of one of my early songs using the new Suno Voice feature. This has proved to be a little "hit & miss"; on this track definitely a miss. Suno video for the release of the Voice feature (beta so far) did warn that it one should train the AI with an audio clip in the same genre as the song to be generated! Here I sang in my normal voice on the training clip but this track has turned out a little jazzy and the voice seems to be quite different, although I wouldn't have thought it would have been. I can recognise myself , in there somewhere but is not obviously the same person singing. I have covered other songs where nobody could recognise me as the singer at all!

Moonwalk (cover-v5.5)
Sorry, I know I said the last but watching the re-entry of Artemis flight last night, I just had to add one more. BTW I wanted a rhyme with "until" for that last line and it had to fit the line structure, and for some reason Michael Jackson was on my mind - so Jacksonville simply fitted the bill, no other reason!

The Wind And I
Although a similar title to the previous track, this is a very different track. A very light-hearted poem; written whilst on my way to work one day, in the rain. This is the last of this little set of poems used for the exercise with v5.5.

Let The Music Play (voice cover)
I keep saying, "This is one of my favourites"; I have so many. I just wanted to have this with my own cloned voice - so here it is. I will get used to hearing myself singing my own songs soon and get round to writing some more. I am probably doing too many covers/remixed tracks/etc

its so she said -(voice cover)
Still playing with the cloned voice feature in Suno. All the songs I have tried so far use a similar style. This time I have chosen a rock number from 60's/70's, this track is a cover of a track which I uploaded to Sound Cloud a few years ago; so the music and lyrics are mine, Suno has done the heavy lifting and caught the acoustic Uke stumming very well. Hope you like this version.

til the dawn (cover v5.5)
A "folk" song written in the late sixties, lyrics by me, tune/melody very close to my original and the guitar melody (picked) in the intro written and played by me in the original. The solo is developed from the intro by Suno. This cover is of the original "me and my uke" version also posted to SC, although there is another cover with an earlier Suno version. I have made this second cover for two reasons; I love this simple song and I have used the "My Voice" feature so it sounds like my singing. Hope you like it!

Stand Up To Fear
This is a story of how to defeat fear by considering the personification of that which causes you fear. From a poem by myself and set to music in Suno, using a clone of my own voice. I love the piano in this, which builds, along with the vocals to the end of the piece. Hope you like it, worth listening, worth listening past 2.30 min.

I heard a song ( cover - v5.5)
Another of the experiment with the new "Voice" feature in Suno. Not the most successful and varies from the first part to the more up-tempo, heavier second part. Cloning can be successful if the uploaded audio clip is similar (genre / style) to the song to be featured. It is a beta release, and may be better in the long term. Apart from this I love this track, which uses my original melodies in the first part but does develop them in the second part. Hope you like it.

Don't Hide Yourself Away (cover 2026)
I covered this old song of mine to experiment with Suno v5.5 and the new "Voice" feature, uploading a 30 sec audio clip for Suno to clone my own voice. Ths can be used just like the older "Persona" feature, which are still available as stored voices. Hope you like this version.

You Hide But Nobody Seeks
Now appearing, my own voice cloned with the technology introduced by Suno AI, in version 5.5 of it's very excellent software. Yep, you heard it here, though I spent a lot of time uploading acapella versions of me singing songs , to Suno. IN order to hear those songs with their original memories. This was done in v3.5; and gave a very good attempt at cloning. Although, it did alter the vocal to match the genre, e.g. added a broad western accent for Country songs. But this is an improved version, though this beta version still might need different clones for some genres (????) and you have to prove the voice is yours by reading and uploading the exact phrase from on the screen at one point. Still, we are promised it will get better - and I believe them - I think. I do hope you like this, the lyrics are taken without editing from a poem (by me) although some sections may be repeated, especially at the end of the song.

A Connection To The Past
The story here, comes from the fact that I simply enjoy browsing thru 2nd hand bookshops. Well, I guess I have to apologise - for dropping yet another new song (well a poem set to music really). I am completely carried away with this current project, educating myself (via AI agent) in the art of prompting Suno. Yes I know I have spent the last couple of years generating songs on Suno, however I still feel I am only at first base. AND..... Suno has just let V5.5 drop, which also has provided another major major advance in quality of the results and bought personalisation forward with three massive improvements to the tool set. So please bear with me over the next few days whilst I play with the new toolset and my improved understanding of prompting.

A crumpled Sheet Of Paper
I was so pleased with the last posting (Faded Flowers) that I decided to try the same experiment again. In fact there is a good reason to work through both songs together, as they are both allegories for a failed/failing relationship. The difference is that (the experiment if you like) is that I have been taking lessons from an AI app in the practical use of Suno prompts. Although I have been learning by using Suno and picking up pointers here and there, I feel that I have not been using the skills of arranging/recording/producing/etc. I have had no experience with these roles. So I sought help from the closest source. I think it has made a difference with both tracks which I am really pleased with. But enough of that; I do hope that you like the track.

The Clock Struck Thirteen
Using my current favourite "Suno" persona but beginning to change the prompts for effect, which unfortunately changes the voice. I think this must be close to the most generated versions I have been thru' for a song - almost. I went thru many as I was trying to get some specific effects, but in the end picked one of the early iterations. I am not an experienced engineer/arranger and maybe do not find the right words to effect the nuances. A friendly AI has offered to let me into some "secrets" of effective prompting - We have made a date... I am quite pleased with this track but may upload another in a slightly different genre in the next few days. Some of my persaverence did pay off, but too much would not be a good idea. Anyway, hope you like this version.

How Many Ways Do I Love You?
WoW, I give in. I plead guilty, I had been writing a few songs to a prompt, seem to be having a hard time writing to original themes; repeating myself, I guess. This one I guess could be called a "silly love song", and really tried to write something original. With The Beatles in mind, or was it Paul, I was struggling. Finally, I gave Suno a structure for the lyric and described the theme of the lyric - leaving the content open, apart from the title. Of course it cam up with two lyrics, I was horrified with the first, simply a list of very poor metaphors. But the second looked as if it might be usable with some editing. I prompted for a demo using a recent "Persona" (a vocalist, genre and style; to hear the lyric within a setting. I was astounded with how it all worked out, and the more I listened, I decided it was exactly what I wanted. Something original (as far as I know), with just the music to complement the lyrics. Sorry, but this is AI at it's best, as far as I am concerned. Not really my song but I am accepting it as something I helped to bring out of the process. Please listen to the song and forget the source. I really hope you like it!

When You Say You Love Me Too
From a track originally recorded by myself and worked at with v3.5. This has now been remastered with v5. I love this track and hope that you will too. I hope that it is obvious that the lyrics are all mine. Simple rhymes, plain words - it is a very old song - early sixties is my best guess but Suno has made a great job of the backing for me.

THE THURSDAY BUS
For a short time, I had a bit of a problem with song writing - and took to writing poetry. I could write on so many themes/subjects which I would never consider for a song. This is a very good example. Little things from everyday life, suddenly became fair play . I did in fact find myself in just this situation. I had retired from my day job early (on very good terms which my employer was offering to those who wanted voluntary redundancy. I took a part time job to get me through a couple of years and on one night a week I found myself working until late - a Thursday. This is a true story but the names have been changed to protect the innocent.

In The Dark Of The Night
One of those lyrics (yes another) which took a long time to surface although I had a title. A short lyric when finally written, but I decided to use an unusual structure; Verse, verse, chorus, instrumental bridge followed by a repeat of the whole thing and then a final chorus. I was admittedly being lazy, but I hope you think it worked. It certainly works for me.

Does that surprise you
Sometimes, I have to really sweat over my lyrics! This lyric was originally written with a heavy rock genre in mind, but the flow of the words simply did not help ....? I finally did an almost complete rewrite, and changed to this "strange genre", which I think finally gave me something to be proud of. I hope you will also find it to your liking. My apologies to any country fans if you think it is a step too far!

Electric Blues Makes Me Sad
Loved the instrumental version and decided to do something I had not yet attempted in Suno; most of my songs/music starts with a lyric, so I thought this was a great opportunity to attempt to add a lyric to a purely instrumental track. As this was experimental, I simply asked Suno to write a lyric and specified a title. Well maybe because it is a simple blues, both version seemed acceptable. I chose one version and clicked on CREATE. Again, as with the instrumental cover I was really blown away. So here is a rare track where I have not been at least mostly responsible for the lyric. I love it, hope you do to.

Electric Blues in E
Another cover. Another track from the past. A solo guitar with an auto, keyboard percussion track which just never melded together. But for some strange reason I kept with my early recordings. Although using just a simple blues chord sequence, just on a whim, I decided to see what Suno's AI could make of it. WOW blew my mind, absolutely love it. So here it is for you delectation...
