Ep.83 Everything Was Leading Here (Jules' Thoughts)
Follow it. Trust it. Watch it unfold. Dave Griffin knew two things at eight years old - he wanted to tell stories, and he wanted to play AFL. What happened next is a masterclass in trusting the journey even when it doesn't look the way you planned. One game with the Sydney Swans. Running onto the MCG as a Hawthorn runner. A successful career in business. And all the while - the thing he loved most quietly waiting in the background, collecting people and experiences and stories until the moment was right. In this takeaway episode Jules reflects on what Dave's story revealed about following your passion before you know where it's going, why nothing is ever a waste of time, and what happens when you finally stop waiting for the perfect moment and just begin. Why not you?

Ep. 82 | Dave Griffin: I was Overwhelmed Reading my Author Bio (Part 2)
If you could define your ideal life… what would it look like? In Part 2 of our conversation with Dave Griffin, we go deeper into the inner world of a storyteller who writes to emotionally challenge people and hopes, in doing so, to impact them in a way he was also impacted as a child by the power of words. Dave speaks candidly about empathy as both his superpower and his kryptonite, what it means to be an “emotional guy” while still feeling pressure to be strong, and the ongoing wrestle to regulate feeling without shutting it down. We unpack the meaning behind his three books, all written at different stages of his life, with all author proceeds donated to charities that resonated with where he was at the time. From the boxer whose rose tattoos symbolised survival through hardship, to documentary work on That Race, this episode explores how Dave anchors his creative projects in stories that matter. Dave also reflects on the moment his publisher entered his life, not just at the right time, but as a mentor who genuinely believes in his work and the emotional weight of seeing his photo and bio printed for the first time, marking the reality of a new chapter and a new version of himself. We close with Dave’s grounded view on legacy (“maybe just that Dad had a go”) and advice that feels refreshingly human: you don’t have to be great at everything, you just have to keep bouncing, keep finding a way around obstacles, and keep lighting your fire through people, purpose, or persistence. An honest, reflective conversation about resilience, creativity, and continuing to show up, even when you don’t fully know who you’re becoming yet. Ep. 81 | Dave Griffin: " Feeling Petrified" (Part 1)
Dave is the perfect example of how success can look different for everyone. While he has been pursuing his career as a GM in a large footwear company, he has been quietly finding alignment for his passion to play on the MCG firstly, and then secondly as an author. His story shows how when you have a goal in mind, you can be off course most of the time but you can still find alignment in unexpected places and meetings and experiences can make sense retrospectively. Whether you’re chasing your own dream or looking to rediscover what drives you, this conversation will remind you that success isn’t luck — it’s courage, practice, and purpose. 🔗 Show Notes & Links Resources and tools mentioned in this episode: 🎙️ Record studio-quality audio from anywhere with Riverside.fm 👉 Try Riverside Free https://riverside.sjv.io/Bnr3eq Connect with JulesFM Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/julesfmshow/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61578036023218 LinkedIn → https://www.linkedin.com/in/jules-mundy-a10b5a33/ YouTube → https://www.youtube.com/@julesfmshow Watch the entire interview on YouTube for the full video experience.

A new perspective - Jules' Thoughts
In this episode of JulesFM, I’ve been reflecting on the conversations I’ve had so far. I have heard and learnt from some incredible guests and their insights are fantastic. But it’s not the success stories themselves that I have been most interested in, it’s the trade-offs behind them. What it cost people to change direction. What they chose to give up, certainty, approval, income, status to work in a way that felt more aligned. And those moments where something no longer fits… and they choose differently, without knowing how it will unfold. This is because it resonates with where I’m at and the choices I’ve been making myself and this whole journey began, and continues, with me wanting to share my story - honestly. This episode is an explanation of my thinking and the slight pivot I am taking. Because when something truly matters, there are always trade-offs. The path is rarely straightforward. But it’s often in those decisions, and everything that follows, that we find what’s most meaningful. That’s the gold. That’s life.

Ep. 80 | Dr Sharp - aka Dr Happy: The Importance of Self Compassion (Part 2)
In Part 2 of my conversation with Tim Sharp — aka Dr Happy, we continue exploring what it really means to live well, beyond the metrics, milestones, and “when I get there” thinking. Tim shares his belief that from a very young age, we all have a sense of what energises us and where our natural strengths lie but we often don’t have the language, or the permission, to name or prioritise them. We talk about why society tends to discount what comes easily to us, and how much changes when we begin to build life and work around our strengths rather than constantly trying to compensate for our weaknesses. We discuss the everyday habits that help support wellbeing, knowing that no one gets it right all the time and the role self‑compassion plays when things don’t go to plan. Tim speaks honestly about how the way we speak to ourselves matters, and why picking yourself up with kindness is just as important as motivation or discipline. This part of the conversation also explores the idea of a “happiness diet” moving away from endlessly postponing happiness until certain conditions are met and instead learning how to feel worthy of the changes we want to make now. We talk about applying this thinking to work, relationships, and mental health, and why creating environments where people can thrive benefits everyone. We also discuss the power of nature for feeling happy and connected. Because living well isn’t about doing it perfectly, it’s about choosing to show up again and again. And, as always, this can look different. 🔗 Show Notes & Links Resources and tools mentioned in this episode: Audible https://amzn.to/4p8RFt1 All of Tim’s books including ‘Lost and Found’ By Dr Tim Sharp – on Audible Website - https://drhappy.com.au/resources/ 🎙️ Record studio-quality audio from anywhere with Riverside.fm 👉 Try Riverside Free https://riverside.sjv.io/Bnr3eq Connect with JulesFM Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/julesfmshow/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61578036023218 LinkedIn → https://www.linkedin.com/in/jules-mundy-a10b5a33/ YouTube → https://www.youtube.com/@julesfmshow Watch the entire interview on YouTube for the full video experience. 🧾 Affiliate Disclosure Some links above are affiliate links. Ep. 79 | Dr Sharp - aka Dr Happy: How to CHOOSE happiness (Part 1)
In Part 1 of my conversation with Tim Sharp, aka Dr Happy, we talk about happiness from a place that’s often missing from the conversation. Tim shares how his interest in happiness began not through ease, but through struggle working as a clinical psychologist alongside anxiety, depression, and the parts of life that weren’t working. His own mental health challenges shaped his drive to succeed, but also influenced how he experienced that success, sometimes achieving things without fully enjoying them. We explore how positive psychology isn’t about being happy all the time. Happiness is just one emotion among many alongside calm, contentment, joy, and meaning and thriving requires learning how to live with discomfort, uncertainty, stress, and negative emotions, not avoiding them. Through Tim’s CHOOSE framework, we discuss what it means to pursue a life that includes clarity about values, healthy foundations, realistic optimism, strong connections, use of strengths, and space for enjoyment while accepting that growth often involves effort and challenge. This part of the conversation is about learning to respond to life more deliberately, understanding that we don’t control everything that happens, but we do have choices in how we engage with it. Because happiness isn’t about eliminating the hard parts, it’s about learning how to live well with them. And, as always — this can look different. Ep. 78 | 7 Day Challenge to realign
Three Questions to Realign Your Life This Week This episode is a little different. There’s no guest, and I’m not sharing answers as an expert. I’m very much still working this out in real time which is exactly why I wanted to record it. Lately, I’ve noticed how easy it is to feel slightly off without being able to name why. Not burnt out. Not unhappy. Just… misaligned. Like you’re doing the right things, but somehow, it isn't quite right. So instead of trying to fix anything, this episode offers three simple questions as a micro check‑in that I am focusing on for the next 7 days. A gentle experiment you can try this week as well if it feels useful. This episode is about awareness. About remembering that realignment often starts quietly, and that you’re allowed to adjust as your life evolves. And if any of this resonates, take what’s useful and leave the rest — Because, as always, this can look different. 🔗 Show Notes & Links Resources and tools mentioned in this episode: 🎙️ Record studio-quality audio from anywhere with Riverside.fm 👉 Try Riverside Free https://riverside.sjv.io/Bnr3eq Connect with JulesFM Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/julesfmshow/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61578036023218 LinkedIn → https://www.linkedin.com/in/jules-mundy-a10b5a33/ YouTube → https://www.youtube.com/@julesfmshow Watch the entire interview on YouTube for the full video experience. 🧾 Affiliate Disclosure Some links above are affiliate links. Ep. 77 | Know Your Worth
After every conversation on julesFM, I take time to pause and reflect, not on everything that was said, but on a few ideas I’m consciously choosing to carry forward. In this takeaway episode, I share what I’m taking from my conversation with Elyse, shaped by her long career, lived experience, and honest perspective on success, growth, and control. There are three ideas I keep coming back to: You may never feel like you’ve “made it”, and why that isn’t a problem. Focusing on what you can control frees up energy for progress. Your definition of success is allowed to change as your life changes. This isn’t about copying someone else’s path. What worked for Elyse looks different to what will work for me and likely different again for you. But the skills, perspectives, and life lessons she learned along the way offer something important: permission to keep learning, keep adjusting, and define success in a way that actually fits. Because truly, this can look different. 🔗 Show Notes & Links Host: Jules Resources and tools mentioned in this episode: 🎙️ Record studio-quality audio from anywhere with Riverside.fm 👉 Try Riverside Free https://riverside.sjv.io/Bnr3eq Connect with Jules Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/julesfmshow/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61578036023218 LinkedIn → https://www.linkedin.com/in/jules-mundy-a10b5a33/ YouTube → https://www.youtube.com/@julesfmshow

Ep. 76 | Elyse Villani: Becoming Better Without Becoming Someone Else (Part 2)
In Part 2, Elyse shares the advice that she received late in the game that changed everything in the second half of her career. We talk about the moment she realised cricket doesn’t define her worth, and how reconnecting with why she started playing became an anchor through her journey. This conversation explores the practice of letting go, of outcomes, of selection decisions, of things that you can’t control and doubling down on what you can. Elyse reflects on what’s most important and defining who you want to be on and off the field. We talk leadership, values, risk-taking, and the shift in how she defines success from medals and results to waking up excited, fulfilled, and aligned with what matters most in her life now. This is a conversation about staying true when it would be easier to please others. About success evolving over time. And about finding something you genuinely enjoy because you never know where that path might lead. 🔗 Show Notes & Links Host: Jules Resources and tools mentioned in this episode: 🎙️ Record studio-quality audio from anywhere with Riverside.fm 👉 Try Riverside Free https://riverside.sjv.io/Bnr3eq Connect with Jules Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/julesfmshow/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61578036023218 LinkedIn → https://www.linkedin.com/in/jules-mundy-a10b5a33/ YouTube → https://www.youtube.com/@julesfmshow

Ep. 75 | Elyse Villani: Staying in The Game (Part 1)
Elyse Villani is a cricketing great. Across a career spanning more than 19 years, she represented Australia on the world stage and built a reputation for resilience and leadership, showing that success in elite sport doesn’t have to follow a single script. In Part 1, Elyse takes us inside a career shaped by constant challenge. The kind where you never feel like you’ve fully nailed it and maybe that’s the point. We talk about the satisfaction of progress over perfection and learning how to stay in the game without losing herself. From making a state team at nine, being the only girl in an all‑male team, to how she chose cricket. Elyse shares what elite sport actually teaches you. Including the uncomfortable bits: being in and out of the Australian team, sitting with unfairness, and learning to focus on what you can control. We talk about how she handles nerves and learning the difference between acceptable and unacceptable failure. She also explains the unexpected gifts leadership gave her. This is a conversation about improvement without performance. Growth without losing yourself. And finding ways to contribute even on the days you don’t feel at your best. 🔗 Show Notes & Links Host: Jules Resources and tools mentioned in this episode: 🎙️ Record studio-quality audio from anywhere with Riverside.fm 👉 Try Riverside Free https://riverside.sjv.io/Bnr3eq Connect with Jules Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/julesfmshow/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61578036023218 LinkedIn → https://www.linkedin.com/in/jules-mundy-a10b5a33/ YouTube → https://www.youtube.com/@julesfmshow

Ep. 74 | What Failure Teaches Us About Alignment
In this episode, Jules reflects on something that’s come up again and again in conversations with Olympians, entertainers, founders, leaders, and in her own life. Success can feel awesome and it can confirm that what you’re doing is working. But it rarely changes you. The moments that shape us the most tend to arrive when things don’t go to plan, when the win isn’t there, when the outcome is not what you hoped for, or when life forces an unexpected turn. This episode is about learning from those moments. And about how failure, discomfort, and missteps often become the place where alignment begins. If you’ve ever felt like the real learning didn’t come from the win but from what followed, this conversation is for you. 🔗 Show Notes & Links Resources and tools mentioned in this episode: 🎙️ Record studio-quality audio from anywhere with Riverside.fm 👉 Try Riverside Free https://riverside.sjv.io/Bnr3eq Connect with JulesFM Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/julesfmshow/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61578036023218 LinkedIn → https://www.linkedin.com/in/jules-mundy-a10b5a33/ YouTube → https://www.youtube.com/@julesfmshow Watch the entire interview on YouTube for the full video experience. 🧾 Affiliate Disclosure Some links above are affiliate links. Ep. 73 | Recording from a different place
In this Weekly Wins & Recap episode, Jules shares a candid update on her voice‑over journey and why where she is at now feels like genuine progress, not just momentum. After being asked to deliver a relaxed, conversational read (in an English accent), Jules walks through the real work behind the scenes: honouring the brief, recording multiple takes, noticing when something technically “works” but doesn’t quite connect, and having the courage to start again. This episode explores what changed when Jules stopped listening with “does my voice sound good?” ears and instead asked, “will people actually connect to this?” and how that shift can lead to a far more truthful, relational read. Drawing on insights from previous conversations (including lessons on reflection and feedback from Hawthorn Head Coach Sam Mitchell), Jules reflects on creativity, vulnerability, and what it really means to show up authentically in creative work. A thoughtful reminder that progress isn’t always louder or more polished, sometimes it’s quieter, braver, and far more human. 🔗 Show Notes & Links Resources and tools mentioned in this episode: 🎙️ Record studio-quality audio from anywhere with Riverside.fm 👉 Try Riverside Free https://riverside.sjv.io/Bnr3eq Connect with JulesFM Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/julesfmshow/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61578036023218 LinkedIn → https://www.linkedin.com/in/jules-mundy-a10b5a33/ YouTube → https://www.youtube.com/@julesfmshow 🧾 Affiliate Disclosure Some links above are affiliate links. Ep. 72 | It’s Not About Sounding Good
This episode starts with world records and ends somewhere a little more reflectively. On Friday night, I stood in a crowd singing ‘You’re the Voice’ surrounded by friends, strangers, nostalgia, and a surprising sense of ease. No one was trying to sound good. No one was being assessed. And somehow, that made everyone braver. In this Jules' Thoughts episode, I explore what that night revealed about voice, confidence, and connection and why most of us don’t actually need more confidence when we speak… we need fewer stakes. A short reflection on joy, shared experience, and remembering that voice isn’t something we fix, it’s something we return to. 🔗 Show Notes & Links Resources and tools mentioned in this episode: 🎙️ Record studio-quality audio from anywhere with Riverside.fm 👉 Try Riverside Free https://riverside.sjv.io/Bnr3eq Connect with JulesFM Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/julesfmshow/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61578036023218 LinkedIn → https://www.linkedin.com/in/jules-mundy-a10b5a33/ YouTube → https://www.youtube.com/@julesfmshow Watch the entire interview on YouTube for the full video experience. 🧾 Affiliate Disclosure Some links above are affiliate links. Ep. 71 | Showing Up Authentically
Authenticity isn’t a performance. It’s a release. In this episode, Jules shares what turns out to be one of the biggest learnings she has made on this journey so far and that is the power and freedom of being authentically yourself. A misbelief she had was that being authenticity meant doing things right, sounding natural, choosing the right words, delivering value, and being honest in a polished way. And she genuinely thought she was being authentic. This guard was also present in other areas of life. Something that can easily be overlooked in anyone’s life but once it’s identified, there is no going back. This episode is a reflection on that awareness, and on what authenticity really feels like when we stop performing it and start allowing it. And letting ourselves sound human instead of perfect. 🔗 Show Notes & Links Resources and tools mentioned in this episode: 🎙️ Record studio-quality audio from anywhere with Riverside.fm 👉 Try Riverside Free https://riverside.sjv.io/Bnr3eq Connect with JulesFM Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/julesfmshow/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61578036023218 LinkedIn → https://www.linkedin.com/in/jules-mundy-a10b5a33/ YouTube → https://www.youtube.com/@julesfmshow

Ep. 70 | Black Box Thinking - What Failure Really Teaches Us
In this solo episode, I share my thoughts on a book that genuinely shifted something in me: Black Box Thinking by Matthew Syed. It’s an awesome exploration of how two industries, aviation and medicine, handle mistakes in completely opposite ways… and what that reveals about learning, growth, and human potential. Aviation treats errors as data. Medicine often treats errors as secrets. And somewhere in between is us, trying to grow, trying not to fail, and sometimes hiding the very things that would help us improve. This episode is part reflection, part self‑confession, and part invitation. I talk about: • why we fear mistakes and what it costs us • how our ego gets in the way of learning • what happens when we treat failure as information, not identity • what this mindset could mean for our creativity, our teaching, and our personal growth • how we can build our own personal “black box” track what went wrong, reflect honestly, adjust, and try again I also share how this book nudged me to rethink my own habits as a learner, a teacher, and as someone who’s constantly trying to align my life more closely with what feels true. 🔗 Show Notes & Links Resources and tools mentioned in this episode: 🎙️ Record studio-quality audio from anywhere with Riverside.fm 👉 Try Riverside Free https://riverside.sjv.io/Bnr3eq Connect with JulesFM Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/julesfmshow/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61578036023218 LinkedIn → https://www.linkedin.com/in/jules-mundy-a10b5a33/ YouTube → https://www.youtube.com/@julesfmshow

Ep. 69 | Janine Allis: The Mindset Boost (Jules' Thoughts)
In this recap episode, Jules reflects on her conversation with Janine Allis, founder of Boost, author, Survivor favourite, and a woman dedicated to helping others live with purpose. Jules highlights Janine’s next‑level authenticity, her down‑to‑earth humour, and the powerful reminder that showing up as your true self is where the real magic happens. Jules also explores Janine’s unconventional business beginnings, her belief in naivety as a strength, and how her can‑do mindset is what has carried her from building a global brand to tackling Survivor in her late 50s. Why she is adopting Janine’s SOAR vs. VERB mindset tools into her decision-making toolbox and rethinking what’s possible at any age, Janine’s wisdom offers practical and inspiring takeaways for anyone wanting to live more boldly and intentionally. Ep. 68 | Janine Allis: Choosing to SOAR (Part 2)
In Part 2 of this conversation, Jules explores Janine Allis’ powerful VERB and SOAR framework, the mindset model she lives by. While everyone drifts into VERB at times, the reactive, resistant, or negative state, Janine explains why choosing to become a SOAR thinker — solution‑focused, optimistic, accountable and open‑minded, is what consistently leads people toward opportunity, growth and “lucky breaks.” Jules and Janine unpack how the shift from VERB to SOAR begins with one simple practice: listening to how you talk to yourself. If the inner dialogue is VERB, catch it, interrupt it, and choose differently. It’s the foundation, Janine says, for building a good life. The conversation also dives into the importance of embracing flaws, staying accountable in business, and understanding that your “brand” is simply the reputation you create through doing what you say and saying what you do, including the ‘BBQ Test”. Janine shares how routine and self‑care have become non‑negotiables, practices inspired by longevity experts like David Sinclair. She talks about becoming comfortable with new conditioning, appreciating the body you have, and grounding success not in appearances but in the freedom to choose, the health of your family, and the relationships that matter. Jules explores all of this through a lens of curiosity and practical application, offering listeners a deeper understanding of mindset, conditioning, and the daily habits that help us truly SOAR. Ep. 67 | Janine Allis: The Mindset That Changes Everything (Part 1)
In Part 1 of my conversation with Janine Allis, founder of Boost Juice, part‑owner of Retail Zoo, Shark Tank judge, author, Survivor legend, and CEO of the Business Academy we dive, into the unexpected lessons that have shaped her life, from what she learnt working with David Bowie (including a surreal moment alone with him on his boat!) to the mindset that helped her create Boost, long before she had any experience in business. We explore the power of naïvety, the way we talk ourselves out of things before we even begin, and how most of the roadblocks we experience are self‑imposed. Janine opens up about why mindset not strength was what got her through Survivor, and why she believes life is about living, experiences and “spikes.” She also shares her simple but powerful approach to marketing: be different rather than better. Know your audience, know your category, and know your archetype, the personality of your brand, then communicate from that place with clarity and confidence. From friends reinventing their careers at any age, her own preparation for Survivor, to the influence her husband Jeff has had on her journey, Janine brings so much grounded wisdom, humour and honesty to this episode. This is a conversation about mindset, courage, and backing yourself, even when you don’t have all the answers. Ep. 66 | How comparison keeps us stuck
In this episode, Jules talks about the illusion of being ‘behind’ and how it only exists when we compare our path to someone else’s. Someone with different experiences, circumstances, timing, opportunities, challenges, and lessons. When you really think about it, how could you possibly be behind on a path only you are walking? Life isn’t a race with one track and one finish line. It’s a collection of paths, all unique. When we compare, we’re measuring our inner world against someone else’s highlight reel, and who knows what led them to that place. Every meaningful thing in your life has arrived the moment you were ready for it, not earlier, not later. This is a look at what changes when we stop comparing to others. Matt Nunn, CEO of Nunn Media, has built his success from the ground up. Along the way he’s learnt a great deal about backing himself, staying consistent, and showing up for the hard work. In this recap episode, Jules reflects on Matt’s journey through a different lens — the lens of someone on the outside looking in, and noticing how the lessons he’s lived can genuinely help us, no matter where we are in life or what goal we’re chasing. Part 2 with Matt Nunn, CEO and Founder of Australia's largest independent Media Agency goes deeper into the traits that really drive success, and why it’s never just skill or mindset, but how the two work together. We unpack the role of resilience, competitiveness, self‑reflection, and culture in his growth, and how mentorship from Tony Gandel helped him see what was possible long before he believed it himself. Matt shares his thoughts on goal‑setting, his daily routine, the importance of taking responsibility for your own development, and why confidence is the most valuable thing you can bring out in people, whether in business or on the basketball court. Ep. 62 | Rejection is Protection
In this episode, Jules explores the idea that “rejection is protection”. A reminder that closed doors aren’t always failures, but redirections. She reflects on why clarity rarely arrives in the moment, how “wrong turns” often shape us in the best ways, and how her own career shift revealed the deeper alignment she’d been missing. Ep. 59 | Emma Murray: Performing Under Pressure - Skills That Actually Work (Part 1)
Today’s episode is Part 1 of my conversation with Emma Murray — a high-performance mindset and mindfulness coach who helps people perform well under pressure. Emma works with corporate leaders, students, performers, and elite athletes — including Oscar Piastri, Richmond Football Club, and Dusty Martin — but what makes her work so powerful is how transferable it is. She’s one of the most sought-after coaches in Australia, trusted by ASX 100 organisations, executives, and the education sector, not for hype or motivation, but for teaching practical skills that change how the mind responds in high‑pressure moments. Emma’s approach helps individuals and teams improve attention control, confidence, motivation, and focus, often with sustainable, meaningful results in surprisingly short timeframes. In this episode, we talk about pressure, state change, and self-belief, and why the same skills that support world‑class performance are just as relevant in classrooms, workplaces, and everyday life. This isn’t about chasing perfection. It’s about learning how to bring your A‑game more often, especially when it matters most. Ep. 58 | The Wins That matter
Every January I reflect on what I didn’t achieve in the year past and then set new goals and resolutions to make them happen in the year to come. This year, I did it differently. I pressed pause on the “not there yet” soundtrack and looked at the wins I’d overlooked: Learning an entirely new skillset (podcast tech jungle: mics, interfaces, software, lighting etc). Getting comfortable feeling vulnerable and being a beginner, over and over. Letting my story evolve. I launched this show to document my VO journey and realised I’m still learning the mindset and habits behind success in any field. Choosing contribution over comfort, because hearing from people who’ve actually done it doesn’t just help me; it helps the teens I teach and the everyone who listens to this show. Practicing everyday courage: stay where my feet are, not being afraid to make mistakes, sharing the process and keeping moving. And here’s the deal, success isn’t one big leap. It’s a thousand tiny reps. It’s being authentic and showing up consistently. It’s being open to learning and not shying away from challenges. It can be hard but the reward is worth it. Hard now, easy later. As we move into a new year, I’m doubling down on what’s working: keep learning from incredible people, build courage, stay curious, and be brave in small ways that add up. If that resonates with you, I think you’ll appreciate this solo episode. 🔗 Show Notes & Links Resources and tools mentioned in this episode: 🎧 Try Audible Free for 30 Days — listen to the books that inspire our guests and conversations. 👉 https://amzn.to/4p8RFt1 🎙️ Record studio-quality audio from anywhere with Riverside.fm 👉 Try Riverside Free https://riverside.sjv.io/Bnr3eq Connect with JulesFM Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/julesfmshow/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61578036023218 LinkedIn → https://www.linkedin.com/in/jules-mundy-a10b5a33/ YouTube → https://www.youtube.com/@julesfmshow 🧾 Affiliate Disclosure Some links above are affiliate links. Ep. 53 | Sam Mitchell: Learning From Winning: What the Greats Do Differently (Recap)
In this recap episode of JulesFM, I reflect on my conversation with Sam Mitchell — premiership player, premiership coach, and one of the most thoughtful leaders in the AFL. We often see Sam as the finished product — calm, composed, successful. But what stayed with me most was how much of his journey was built in the quieter, unseen moments: a willingness to keep learning, the discipline to double down on strengths, and the courage to keep going when the signs suggested it might not happen. This episode explores the ideas that lingered long after our conversation ended — particularly Sam’s belief that winning can be one of the hardest places to learn from, and that real growth often comes from asking better questions even when things appear to be working. In this reflection, I unpack: Why delays aren’t always dead ends How turning your strengths into your edge can change everything Why learning from wins can be harder — and more important — than learning from losses The power of filtering out noise and listening only to voices that truly matter And what great leadership looks like, whether you’re coaching a team, leading a classroom, raising children, or simply trying to lead yourself well This isn’t a replay of Sam’s story. It’s a reflection on what his mindset and approach can teach all of us about growth, resilience, and sustainable success. If you’re navigating self-doubt, leadership, change — or simply trying to do better in the season you’re in — this episode is for you. Ep. 52 | The 4-Word Principle That Will Change Your Life
What if the secret to an easier life tomorrow is choosing something hard today? In this episode of Jules.FM, I dive into one of the most powerful principles I’ve ever applied in my own life. It’s only four words, but they can change everything—your health, your career, your confidence, your dreams. We all want the “easy later” part. But most of us avoid the “hard now” because it’s uncomfortable, inconvenient, or just plain hard. Yet that choice—the one you make in the moment—determines whether you stay stuck or step into who you want to become. I’ll share why this principle matters, how it works, and practical ways to apply it every day. From showing up when you don’t feel ready to doing the reps when no one is watching, these small hard choices compound into big results. If you’ve been negotiating with yourself lately, this episode is your reminder: Comfort now = Hard later. Hard now = Easy later. 🔗 Show Notes & Links Resources and tools mentioned in this episode: 🎧 Try Audible Free for 30 Days — listen to the books that inspire our guests and conversations. 👉 https://amzn.to/4p8RFt1 🎙️ Record studio-quality audio from anywhere with Riverside.fm 👉 Try Riverside Free https://riverside.sjv.io/Bnr3eq Connect with JulesFM Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/julesfmshow/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61578036023218 LinkedIn → https://www.linkedin.com/in/jules-mundy-a10b5a33/ YouTube → https://www.youtube.com/@julesfmshow 🧾 Affiliate Disclosure Some links above are affiliate links. Leading from the Inside Out: How Sam Mitchell Brings Out the Best in His Players In Part 2 of my conversation with Sam Mitchell, we move from his playing career into his evolution as a coach. Sam shares how great coaching starts with understanding people — meeting each player where they are, recognising their individuality, and knowing which “levers” help them grow. He talks about building confidence, creating clarity, navigating feedback, and developing athletes on both the physical and mental side of performance. Sam’s approach reveals what truly separates a good coach from a great one, and how the same principles apply far beyond sport. Ep. 49 | The Mindset Shift That Separates High Performers from Everyone Else
In this episode, Jules explores a principle that can completely change how you approach your goals: Think like a number one — but act like a number two. It’s the mindset shift that blends confidence with humility, belief with discipline, and ambition with hunger. Jules breaks down how “thinking like a number one” helps you step into bigger possibilities, trust your own potential and stop shrinking yourself… while “acting like a number two” keeps you learning, experimenting, working hard and staying curious. This is the same approach elite performers use — the vision of someone who knows where they’re going, with the work ethic of someone who’s still earning it. If you’re chasing a dream, rebuilding momentum, or trying to level up your mindset, this episode gives you the tools to strike the sweet spot between self-belief and grit. Ep. 48 | Michael Klim: How to Reinvent Yourself When Life Forces You to Start Again (Recap)
In this recap episode, Jules shares the biggest lessons she took from her powerful two-part conversation with Michael Klim — lessons about curiosity, courage, and what reinvention really demands from us. We all know Michael as a world champion: 21 world records, Olympic gold, and the groundbreaking straight-arm freestyle. But what Jules didn’t expect was how the same mindset that made him extraordinary in the pool — tiny improvements, experimentation, backing his own style — became the mindset he needed most later in life. After Michael’s CIDP diagnosis, he was forced into a completely different kind of reinvention. Not the loud, medal-winning kind, but the quiet, vulnerable and deeply human kind. In this episode, Jules reflects on how he rebuilt his identity, redefined strength, and learned to adapt in a way that has nothing to do with athletic performance — and everything to do with resilience. This recap explores the questions Michael’s story raises for all of us: Where are we relying on comfort instead of curiosity? Where are we holding onto an old version of ourselves? And what might open up if we finally let go? Links to the Michael Klim Foundation — supporting people with CIDP and their families — and to his new book Klim are included in the show notes. Ep. 47 | Michael Klim: How to find your winning edge (Part 2)
In Part 2 of my conversation with Michael Klim, we dive into the moment that changed everything — his CIDP diagnosis — and the profound journey of reinvention that followed. This is Michael beyond the medals and world records. It’s the story of an athlete forced to rebuild his identity, rethink his strengths, and adapt to a new reality he never saw coming. What emerges is a powerful look at resilience, vulnerability and the mindset it takes to keep moving when life doesn’t go to plan. Michael shares how he navigated uncertainty, found purpose in unexpected places, and learned to redefine success on entirely new terms. His honesty, courage and refusal to give up offer lessons that apply far beyond sport — especially for anyone facing change, challenge or a chapter they didn’t choose. This episode is a reminder that true strength isn’t just about performance… it’s about who you become when everything familiar is stripped away. Michael shares how curiosity, tiny improvements and backing his own style helped him rise to the top of world swimming, even when he didn’t fit the traditional mould. Ep. 45 | Dave Hughes: How to stop overthinking and start living (Recap)
In this short episode, I share the biggest lessons I took from my conversation with Dave Hughes — including how he stays grounded in the moment, backs himself when doubt creeps in, and uses humour to cut through stress instead of getting stuck in overthinking. What I loved most was his reminder that being real, not taking yourself too seriously, and finding moments to laugh can shift your entire mindset — especially when life feels heavy or busy. These are simple ideas you can carry into your own week, whether you’re chasing a dream, rebuilding momentum, or just trying to live with a bit more lightness and presence.
