The GOAT
Who is the GOAT (Greatest of All Time)? Is it an athlete? A musician? An actor or actress? We use that label to indicate someone who excels and is, arguably, the best at what they do. A man came to Jesus one day with a GOAT question. And Jesus gave him THE answer. Not an answer, but THE answer. This Sunday, we are going to take a look at the GOAT command. Join us.

Easter Words
Sunday is Resurrection Sunday. We typically call this day "Easter." On this day nearly 2,000 years ago, a life-changing, life-transforming event took place. It's one segment of the Greatest Story Ever Told. Jesus, who had given His life three days earlier, now makes His way out of the tomb ... alive, fully alive! As we consider this familiar historical record once again, we will take a look at 5 words which are vitally important to Easter.

Worthy of Praise
Praise ... we kind of like it when we are praised. When someone says something nice about us, it really feels good. In all transparency, we probably don't deserve the praise we get. But there is One who IS worthy of praise. On this Palm Sunday, our focus will be on praising the One who is worthy of ALL praise!

Dilemmas
Have you ever faced a dilemma, a problem involving a difficult choice? Maybe you would call it being between a rock and a hard place. The religious leaders of Jesus' day were always trying to put Him in a dilemma. In this passage, Jesus faced a political dilemma and a theological dilemma. You and I may face these same types of dilemmas. What do we do when faced with these difficult situations? Perhaps we can discover an answer from the Scripture.

Jesus in Jerusalem - Rocky Spear - Mark 11:12-25
In Jesus' last week before crucifixion, He stirred the pot quite a bit. As we consider this portion of the Gospel of Mark, we have the opportunity to examine our lives and take inventory of the fruit we are bearing. We also get to ask ourselves, "What might God want to correct in my life and who do I need to forgive?" Join us Sunday as we dive into the Scripture.

Faith that Sees, Persists, and Follows
When it comes to our faith it is the foundation of our relationship with God and the key to our salvation. Faith sustains us through trials, brings peace in uncertainty, and gives purpose to our lives. A couple weeks ago we studied the rich man and his sorrow that came from his unwillingness to leave his wealth and follow Christ. This week we will study the opposite. Bartimaeus, who had nothing, put his faith in Christ, and received everything! There are many lessons about faith that we can learn from Bartimaeus and implement them into our daily lives. Join us Sunday as we dig deeper and look to strengthen our faith in Christ.

N.V.S Most Valuable Servant
Have you ever wanted to be "the big boss" or at least "one of the big bosses?" There is nothing wrong with it, unless our ambitions are wrong. When we want it for the power, the title, the notoriety, or anything that points to "love of self" it's a very worldly pursuit. God wants you and I to be "GREAT" in His Kingdom? What does THAT look like? Join us Sunday as we look at what it takes to be an MVS in God's Kingdom.

Sin & Hell
Nobody really wants to talk about sin and nobody REALLY wants to talk about Hell. But, the Scripture addresses each of these topics. In fact, In Mark 9, Jesus, Himself, addresses sin and Hell. If He thought it was important enough to teach about, it's probably important enough for you and me to pay attention to. This may not be the "pickme- up" sermon of the year, I promise it will be an important message for each of us to hear. Come expecting to be challenged.

You are called to be a Servant!
As Christians, we are called to be the very best followers of Christ that we can be. How are you doing? Are you striving to be the "greatest" follower you can be? In this passage we see that the disciples are thinking of this very thing, but in the wrong way. Jesus sets them straight with words and actions. Come see what they learned about what it takes to be a great follower of Christ and more.

Watch Out For The Yeast
Sometimes it's easy to let things slide in our lives. Maybe we don't think of them as being all that significant...at least at the moment. But there are attitudes and feelings or emotions, which if not cleansed by God which will behave like yeast and will begin to grow. First, almost imperceptibly, then more and more obvious, until there are wrong attitudes, sinful behavior, which bubble to the surface. We are in danger then of embracing that which is false and deceptive. Jesus' admonition to "watch out for the yeast" is still good for us today.

He Does All Things Well
Do you like "attaboys?" I think all of us enjoy hearing that we've done a good job. It kind of feels nice, doesn't it? Sadly, because we are limited human beings, we don't always do all things well. However, when it comes to Jesus, we can rest assured that whatever He does, it will be done well. He heard words of affirmation from His father, as well as from a crowd of people. In our passage Sunday, we will be reminded once again that Jesus does all things well.

Religion or Relationship
There are many religions in this world. Virtually all of them are based upon "works" or "good deeds." The Christian faith is not based on these things. It is first and foremost a relationship. A relationship with Jesus Christ. This relationship will be followed by good works. We must be careful not to get works ahead of relationship. It seems the Pharisees in Jesus' day were more interested in religion (rule keeping). Are you following Jesus from the heart (relationship) or are you just keeping the rules (religion)?

294
Legalism Vs. Liberty
Within Christianity, there are two extremes which are dangerous to our walk...legalism and liberty. Either extreme will find us living in bondage or excusing wrongdoing on our part. Jesus had several run-ins with legalists during His earthly ministry. What can we learn from His encounters?

Matters of Faith
"Faith" is a common word in the Christian Church world. Do we know what it means? Is faith necessary in our walk with Christ? What role does it play when it comes to prayer and God answering our prayers? My guess is that most, if not all, of us have prayed and didn't get the answer we hoped or expected. Maybe we prayed with faith, but still, it seems that nothing happened. Why not? Join us Sunday as we touch the tip of the iceberg on faith.

The Untouchables
Would you touch a leper? Fear of contracting leprosy? I wonder, are there people in your circle of influence who you might think are "untouchable?" Maybe you avoid them for some reason. What if Jesus wants you to follow His example and touch the untouchable? Wold you do it? Will you do it?

Who is Jesus?
The people in the town of Capernaum had the wrong idea of who Jesus was. The crowds of people in that region seemed to come to Him for what He could do for them. What could they get out of Him? What about you? What is your answer to the question, "Who is Jesus?" Who is He to you?

Follow Me!
As we continue our journey through the Gospel of Mark, we will take a look at the calling of Jesus' first disciples. His call was simple: "Follow Me!" Not many details. Just "Follow Me!" Is Jesus still calling people to follow Him today? What does following Jesus look like for us? See you Sunday for the answer.

The Suffering Servant
Today we begin a journey through the Gospel of Mark. His account is the briefest of the four Gospels and it begins, in perhaps, the most unusual of ways. He never mentions the birth of Jesus. Mark's account of Jesus' life begins with His baptism. There is a lesson here for all of us.

Tragedies & Triumph!
Have you ever considered that there were several tragedies associated with Easter? As we gather to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ this Sunday, we will consider together five tragedies directly connected to Easter and then celebrate the TRIUMPH of Easter.
