Let’s Focus on God! – Podcast Episode No. Eight
**Summary Transcripts for this episode are ONLY Available at this time: Hello everyone, this is Autumn J. Rountree, and I'm excited to return with another podcast episode. It’s been three years since my last few episodes, aside from a live update in December 2024. My previous episodes are still available on platforms like Pandora and iHeart Podcasts, and you can find *Let's Focus on God* on social media as well. Due to technical issues with Anchor's merger with Spotify, I’ve moved my podcast hosting to Podbean. Let’s start this episode with a prayer, asking for guidance and wisdom as we explore the topic of forgiveness. Forgiveness is essential for finding peace, even though it can be challenging. Holding onto grudges can lead to bitterness, which I often struggle with. A recent incident with my upstairs neighbor highlighted this struggle, emphasizing that forgiveness brings inner peace and happiness. Ephesians 4:32 encourages us to forgive as God forgives us, freeing us from bitterness and allowing us to tap into God's grace. By embracing forgiveness, we create space for healing and growth instead of clinging to negativity. I’ll reference several Bible verses that highlight the importance of forgiveness, including Matthew 6:14-15 and Colossians 3:13, which stress that our forgiveness is tied to our willingness to forgive others. Forgiveness is not just a suggestion; it is a command essential for maintaining unity within the Christian community. I also reflect on personal growth through forgiveness, sharing my struggles with faith and health issues, including my recent diagnosis of sleep apnea. Additionally, I touch on the tragic cases of Sonia Massey and Madeline Soto, raising questions about accountability and justice in complex situations. As we conclude this segment, I invite you to reflect on how forgiveness can alleviate burdens in your life. Remember, there is currently no way to financially support the podcast, but your engagement and prayers are appreciated.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/let-s-focus-on-god--6707063/support.I now have a listener's support option - just please click this hyperlink: Let’s Focus on God! Let’s Focus on God - More Fascinating Stories of Faith - Bonus/ Episode Six
Hello, everyone! I am back with another unique episode, covering the topic of faith. I'm trying my best to provide my listeners with topics that are interesting to hear about and if I'm not offering enough, please let me know! I want to produce the best kind of Christian podcast there is around and with your help, I believe I could make that happen. (The original episode was created on: November 17, 2021) **Summary Transcripts for this episode are ONLY Available at this time: **Duration:** 0:01 – 9:11 ## Introduction: What Does Faith Do? **(0:01)** Autumn J. Rountree opens this special episode of the podcast *Let’s Focus on God* by exploring the impact of faith in the believer's life. She references sources like PraisePhilly.com and Christianity.com that highlight how faith brings salvation, answers to prayer, healing, prosperity, peace, love, joy, and liberation. It is also explained that faith builds, obeys, blesses, longs for, and worships. With this as a foundation, three biblical accounts are presented to illustrate how faith transforms lives. ## The Faith of King Nebuchadnezzar Influenced by Daniel **(0:50)** The first account revolves around King Nebuchadnezzar and his relationship with Daniel and his Israeli friends (Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah), renamed as Belteshazzar, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. In the book of Daniel (chapter 1, verses 3–7), the king assigns them tasks related to his food and wine. Later, Nebuchadnezzar builds a golden statue and imposes its worship (Daniel 3:1–22). When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refuse to worship it, they are thrown into a fiery furnace but emerge unscathed due to their faith in God. This miracle changes the king's perspective, leading him to praise the God of Israel and issue a decree demanding respect for Him (Daniel 3:25–29; 4:1–3). Subsequently, the king has a disturbing dream that only Daniel (Belteshazzar) can interpret: Nebuchadnezzar will become like an animal and eat grass like cattle for seven years as divine punishment (Daniel 4:8–33). At the end of this period, the king regains his sanity, praises God, and acknowledges His eternal dominion (Daniel 4:34–37). Thus, Daniel inspires a profound transformation in the king, based on faith and obedience to God. ## The Brave Faith of Gideon **(5:32)** The second account is about Gideon, a judge of Israel who initially doubts but whose faith grows through a series of signs and actions. An angel persuades him to fight against the Midianites (Judges 6:12, 20–21). His first act of faith is to destroy the altar of Baal with ten servants, enraging the townspeople, but they cannot harm him because Baal does not intervene (Judges 6:27–33). God continues to strengthen Gideon's faith through signs with a fleece (Judges 6:36–40). He then guides him in selecting soldiers and empowers him to defeat the enemy. Gideon captures two Midianite princes and destroys the tower of Peniel, killing their men (Judges 7:4–25; 8:4–23). He rejects the offer to be king and attributes all glory to God, reaffirming that only the Lord should rule over Israel. ## The Restored Faith of Jonah **(7:35)** The final account focuses on Jonah, whom God commands to preach in Nineveh. Jonah disobeys and flees on a ship (Jonah 1:1–3), fearing the potential violent reaction of the people. In the midst of a storm, Jonah takes responsibility and suggests being thrown into the sea, showing an act of faith and sacrifice (Jonah 1:5–15). A great fish swallows him, and during three days and nights inside, Jonah reflects, repents, and prays to God (Jonah 1:17; 2:2–9). God frees him and gives him a second chance (Jonah 2:10; 3:1–2). This time, Jonah fulfills his mission, preaches in Nineveh, and leads the city to repent of its wickedness (Jonah 3:3–10). His faith, strengthened through trial, transforms an entire city. ## Conclusion and Final Message **(9:02)** Autumn concludes the episode by reiterating that her goal is to share uplifting themes that honor the Word of God and strengthen Christian faith. She invites listeners to support the podcast through contributions and to send comments, suggestions, or testimonies via Anchor.fm or her email: focusonthispodcast.com. ## Final Summary: This special episode highlights how faith can transform the lives of kings, judges, and prophets. Through the stories of Nebuchadnezzar, Gideon, and Jonah, it shows that faith not only guides to personal salvation but can also collectively impact entire nations. Let’s Focus on God - Putting Faith in God - Episode Five
Hi, Christian podcast listeners! It's Autumn J. Rountree and I'm back with my fifth podcast which involves another discussion on faith. I will be covering two new sets of Biblical stories that feature people depending on God for strength to get them through their tough times. I hope you'll enjoy what's ahead! (The original episode was created on: September 28, 2021) This Episode's (Number Five) Transcript: Let's Focus on God, Putting Faith in God, Episode 5. Hello everyone, it's Autumn Rountree sharing with you another podcast. I decided to create this episode as a continuation on the previous subject discussed, which was faith. Today I will be talking about first Samuel, particularly concerning the story of Elkanah and his family. But before I go into the topic, I'll start this podcast in prayer. Dear God, thank you for allowing me a chance to do another podcast. Please guide my podcast listeners through this episode and bless their hearts as they hear the story of faith in Elkanah's family. We appreciate your graciousness while the scriptures are being spoken. Amen and Amen. The topic setting starts in 1 Samuel Chapter 1 verses 1-7. Elkanah was married to two women. One was Hannah and the other was Peninnah. The two were rivals according to 1 Samuel Chapter 1 verses 6 and 7. Hannah wanted a child, although at the current time she couldn't have one because God shut her womb. Elkanah was in a polygamous relationship, which may have affected how the women felt about each other. Peninnah had children of her own and was disrespectful to Hannah, possibly because her husband was more thoughtful of Hannah. You can find this in 1 Samuel Chapter 1 verse 5. Why do you think Elkanah cherished Hannah more than Peninnah? Maybe it's because Hannah couldn't have children, so he felt sorry for her. Maybe it's because Hannah was his first wife, which made that situation more endearing. Despite her grieving, she turned to God and prayed for a son. She also made a vow that once her child was born, she would give him to the Lord and he would be a Nazarite, which would mean his hair would never be cut. This would be public and a visible sign to everyone due to the vow. Someone named Eli, a high priest, saw Hannah praying and he gave her his blessings through her time of grief and sorrow. This uplifted her spirits as she received the promise with faith. Her dedication to God fulfilled her heart and renewed her faith, although the promise was not yet due. This is found in 1 Samuel Chapter 1 verses 17-18. The Bible also states that Elkanah and Hannah worshipped early before the Lord, and before long the news comes that Hannah had conceived a child, which she named Samuel. Her continuous faith in God gave her courage and had pursued patience. You can read 1 Samuel Chapter 1 verses 19-20 to see what I'm talking about. Faith can play a big part in a person's life like Hannah's. Faith is absolutely essential in receiving God's blessings. Hannah received God's blessings just by reaching out to him on a daily basis for comfort and strength. I also wanted to discuss a very similar biblical story that compares with Hannah's. It also deals with faith and trusting that God will pull people through. It's about Elizabeth and her husband Zacharias, who were two elderly people. The couple were very religious but had no children. You can find this in Luke chapter 1 verses 5-7. Elizabeth could not have children even as an older woman, but the couple prayed and stayed faithful to God. Having no children were a sign of God's disfavor, leading to social scorn and ridicule. This is a piece of information I found on a website which is womaninscripture.com forward slash Elizabeth. (womaninscripture.com/elizabeth) The source reveals that Elizabeth was at least 60 years old and well past childbearing years. In those days, women without children were either belittled or became gossip among other Jewish women. Elizabeth had strength in God while dealing with this emotional strain. Luckily enough, an angel came to Zacharias and announced that his wife Elizabeth would have a son. He is also told that his son's name will be John. The angel also claimed that the child will be a delight to his parents in the world and be wonderful before the eyes of the Lord. Because Zacharias is in so much disbelief, he becomes mute. Read Luke chapter 1 verses 11-20. Being in such a way almost kept Zacharias from telling Elizabeth what happened. Anyway, somehow he was able to tell his wife the good news. She believes it to be true and is humble and grateful for the blessing. You can read more about this story in full detail by referring back to the website womaninscripture.com forward slash Elizabeth, for complete insight. Finally, I have some questions to ask before I close the podcast. Question 1. - Why do you think Elizabeth and Hannah had so much faith in God? Question 2. - What do you think they did to keep their faith active? Question 3. - Do you believe that faith will carry you through? Question 4. - In what ways have you increased your faith in God? Question 5. - Is it possible to strengthen your faith and what must you do for that to happen? You can answer these questions in the message area on my anchor page or send me a private email at focusonthispodcasts at (@) gmail.com if you wish to participate. As always, if you enjoyed this podcast, please contribute to the listener support part of the program. If you have any comments or suggestions for this or any future biblical based podcasts, please leave them in the message area and/or my email: focusonthispodcasts at gmail.com. Let’s Focus on God - Understanding the Meaning of Faith - Episode Four
Hi, everyone! I'm back, online and ready to discuss the Bible! In this podcast, I will be reviewing the subject of faith. I was driven to create the podcast because it's something a lot of people, including myself, struggle with. But things are slowly improving! I will present my topic in the best way possible and hope that anyone who's falling short of faith will get a better understanding of it after hearing what was said. (The original episode was created on: August 28, 2021) This Episode's Podcast Transcripts: Hello! This is Autumn Rountree returning for another podcast. It's been a while since I've last been on, and that's because I was trying to figure out a biblical topic to study and press upon. So, I finally settled on the subject of faith. I thought it would be a good idea to discuss this one because a lot of people, including myself, have a weakness in this area. But before I get started with the program, I'd like to open up in prayer. Let's pray. Dear god, thank you for allowing another opportunity for others to hear this podcast. Grant the listeners a chance to realize the meaning of faith and how to live by it. Help me as well as those who need strength through struggles and doubt. Help us all learn to understand what faith can do through this faith lesson today. Amen and amen. I hope this lesson on faith will provide answers to questions regarding what exactly is faith, plus what can it do for us. I challenged myself by looking up ways to improve faith and how to grow into it. One reference about this can be found on: www.conformingtojesus.com under What is Faith. I'm going to review some essential findings. According to the website, the biblical definition and meaning of faith is found in Hebrews eleven one, now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is the well-established and firm foundational structure that stands under and supports the expectation of something whose fulfillment is sure as it will certainly happen based on the knowledge that we that we have. Faith is the verified and established proof of things that we have not yet seen happen, but that will surely happen based on everything that we have learned throughout time and know. So, what is faith in God? How can we have faith and trust in God? How can faith and trust in God grow? Faith in God is based on knowing him and establishing a strong and lasting relationship with him. When we know someone well and we know that this individual is dependable, trustable, and reliable, then we can have faith in him or her. Same thing happens when we get to know God and establish a relationship with him. We learn more and more about him as we go, and we learn that he is dependable, trustable, and reliable. We learn that we can rest assured that God is a soft spot where to land and a loving, protective father that shelters His children and keeps His word and covenant with them. Romans ten seventeen. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. This means that faith comes by understanding and obeying the word of God. Faith is understanding completely the things hoped for and that by which things not seen yet have been tested and proved in the past as we have obeyed and have seen the positive results of our obedience in our life. Faith is energized and empowered and becomes effectual by walking in God's commandments. Faith grows by obedience. Another website, Beliefnet, shows how we can build godly faith. Faith is recognized by most as the single most important element in Christian life. We are told in Hebrews eleven one that faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the convictions of things not seen. When we have faith in God, we trust not only that he is there but also in His promises. Hebrews eleven six reminds us that without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Trusting in God and His promises requires faith. But how do we build godly faith in a world of sin and brokenness? Another way to build godly faith is through prayer. Acknowledge our heavenly father as holy. Start with my father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Matthew six nine. Ask God for the fullness of the holy spirit to be at play in your life. If you then who are evil know how to give good gifts to your holy children, how much more will the heavenly father give the holy spirit to those who (who) ask him? Luke eleven thirteen. We build godly faith when we give all our all of our heart and mind to God, not things of the world. Matthew six twenty-one is a great reminder of this. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Proverbs also reminds us that it that it it's important that we protect our hearts. There are plenty of people in the bible who were big on faith. The following seven biblical characters were known for their trust in God at all costs. The first one on the list is Noah. Noah put His trust in God before, during, and after the flood. He had faith that God would get him through the big storm even if other people didn't believe that. Read Genesis chapter six verses seven to 22. The second one is Nehemiah. Nehemiah took time to pray to God about the needs of a temple he wanted repaired in Jerusalem. Even though he was upset, he continuously spoke out to God and pursued what he had set out to do. By doing this, he was able to bring His people together by upstanding their faith. Read Nehemiah chapter two verses 12 to 20. The third person representing faith is Job. Job never lost hope despite the horrible circumstances he was given to deal with. Regardless, he kept His faith in God no matter what. Read Job chapter one verses one to 22. The fourth person is Joseph. Joseph honored God and did right no matter what happened to him. His undying faith kept him safe and secure despite the constant disrespect he received during part of His lifetime. Read Genesis chapter 37 and verse four. Genesis chapter 37 verses 18 to 35, and Genesis chapter 39 verses seven to 23. The fifth person marked by faith is Ruth. Ruth had a period where she lost some of her family but couldn't leave her land due to the love of the closest people around her. She never strayed, and God gave her a new family because she hadn't given up hope. Read Ruth chapter one verse four, Genesis chapter 11 verse 31, Genesis chapter 19 verse 37, Ruth chapter two verses 10 through 13, Ruth chapter three verses two to five, and Ruth chapter four verse 13. The sixth person is Elijah. Elijah is known for prophesying drought and soon being fed by ravens and a widow before His noble challenge to the prophets of Baal on Mount Horeb. His faith moved the Lord God to answer by fire, and Elijah killed all the false prophets, then prophesied rain. Read first Kings chapter 17 verses one through six, first Kings chapter 17 verses seven through 24, and first Kings chapter 19. The seventh and last person of faith for this podcast is Daniel. Daniel disobeys the Persian king by praying to God as he always has done. As a result, he is thrown into a den of lions as a punishment. Throughout this ordeal, he continues to pray to God, and His faith indeed rescues him from the dangerous lions. Lastly, I want to include that there are quite a few Bible verses that mention faith as I wrap up this podcast. I will be providing 10 of the best ones. Ephesians chapter two verse eight, Hebrews chapter 11 verse one, Hebrews chapter 11 verse six, Matthew chapter 21 verse 21, Romans chapter 10 verse 17, James chapter two verse 24, Luke chapter 17 verse five, Ephesians chapter six verse sixteen, first Corinthians chapter 16 verse 13, and Romans chapter one verse seventeen. I know that sometimes I miss out on what God's telling me, and I find myself going back to review the Bible, conducting thorough searches on what he's trying to say. Learning what the Bible teaches is crucial when navigating through today's world because you could end up missing a line if you're not paying attention. For your reference, I will put the websites that were mentioned with their entire links on my podcast page. Please don't forget to place a tip in the listener support part of this program if you enjoyed this recent episode because it will help aid in my contribution to making Christian podcasts for anyone to enjoy. As an added bonus, I also want to include something insightful from which I found on manybiblessons.com (Note: Website may not be working at this time). From a biblical world view, we cannot take God for granted as we live our lives. When we think about Him as Creator, we realize He is the reason we even exist. Understanding His power gives us confidence to trust in Him. Knowing His love and promises gives us our hope. Studying His word gives us direction. How we view God greatly impacts how we view life and the world around us. For that reason, we must place Him at the center of our lives. Acts 17, verses 24-28 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that He is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelt not in temples made with hands, neither is worshiped with men's hands, as though He needed anything. Seeing He giveth to all life and breath and all things, and hath made of one blood all nations of men, for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation, that they should seek the Lord if happily they might feel after Him, and find Him. Though He be not far from every one of us, for in Him we live, and move, and have our being, as certain also of your own poets have said, for we are also His offspring. Enlightening and Uplifting Bible Verses - Episode One (New Version)
Hello! This is the first episode of Focus on God! I'm your host, Autumn J. Rountree. I will be providing spiritual insight for this and every episode I create. This first one entails bible verses to help guide your walks with Christ and encouragement for hope through dark times. (The original episode was created on: April 12, 2021) Transcript from this Episode: Let's Focus on God, enlightening and uplifting Bible verses episode one. Hello, thanks for tuning in. I'm your host, Autumn J. Rountree. For this up and coming podcast series, I'll be providing ways to connect with God. This includes prayers, scripture readings, and Christian literature. I'm going to begin this episode by offering a quick prayer to everyone who's tuning in to the channel. Dear God, please bless this online podcasting program and allow all those who are listening to it feel the power and the spirit of Your word. You are the one true living God who envisions and makes all things possible. Please guide us in our personal yet spiritual journeys with You in mind as we devote our time in learning what's good and wonderful for us. Amen and Amen. I'm now going to read out some enlightening Bible verses you should be aware of. Psalms 119 verse 70, Their heart is as fat as grease, but I delight in thy law. In other words, the scripture is saying that a human being's heart is as nasty and ugly and despicable as grease, and he or she are only fulfilled by worldliness. But from a first person's narrative, the author was announcing that he was very appreciative of praising the Lord and following his law more than anyone or anything else. Number 2 -Exodus 20 verse 7, You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. Basically this scripture is saying that you shouldn't swear by his name or take it upon yourself to express discontentment by using his name and a light regard. Furthermore, using phrases like Oh My Goodness, Jeez, and the commonly used one, OMG, may be offensive to the Lord. Number 3 - Proverbs 16 verse 2, All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes, but the Lord weigheth the spirits. Loosely speaking, people can justify their own actions based on anything that they do, but God always has the final say if whether or not their ways are pleasing enough to him. Number 4 - Deuteronomy 8 verse 18, Remember the Lord your God, He is the one who gives you power to be successful in order to fulfill the covenant. As an expansion, this means you must remember the Lord. He has enabled you to have access to things like wealth and power and has proved to us that His covenant is available only because of an oath He has certified with our descendants. Number 5 - Numbers 14 verse 18, He doesn't excuse the guilty, He lays the sins of the parents upon their children, the entire family is affected. As an end result, this passage means that God is all forgiving to any act of sin, but He won't forget the guilty. He will judge and punish them all according to what they have done as well as the transgressors own children and each of their grandchildren thereof. Number 6 - Psalms 119 verse 39, Turn away my reproach which I fear, for the judgments are good. From what I gathered, this passage is saying that anything a person does that they're embarrassed or ashamed about should be asking God to forgive them and turn the problem away. He or she should also pray that any fear of scorning or harassment that could possibly come from his or her enemies should be completely overridden by the Lord's grace. The narrator has also mentioned that he knew that God's decrees in which he respects are always upstanding. Number 7 -Power 15 verse 31, If you listen to constructive criticism you will be at home among the wise. From what I understand, this scripture means that if someone hears something insightful they should adhere and stick to what was said because then they would be considerably nimble. Number 8 -Corinthians 12 verse 11, It is the one and only spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have. As this reads, the Lord serves many different men and women with their own talents, but each person should respectfully accept them and not brag upon which ones would make them better than someone else. Number 9 -Proverbs 27 verse 7, For full soul loatheth and honeycomb, but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet. I believe this means that if someone is full of greed and abundance of things they will not be easily fulfilled with honey as much as a person who is starving for such either because they don't have enough honey or nothing like it at all. Number 10, Proverbs 16 verse 9, in his heart a man plans his course but the Lord determines his steps. I've concluded that this scripture means that someone can choose what they want to do or go in life but God will always show that person the path he or she should be going or leading. Number 11, Proverbs 4 verse 25, let thine eyes look right on and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Collectively speaking, this means keep your eyes open and alert to what's right and just. Also keep everything going in the same direction which would be your eyelids. Be very conscientious of what's good at all times. I came across some intriguing Bible verses on ChristianPost.com that should be resourceful to anybody that needs help during a crisis or times of stress. The brief article suggested at least 7 uplifting Bible verses when you're going through hard times. Number 1, Psalms 119 verses 67-68, before I was afflicted I went astray but now I keep your word. You are good and do good, teach me your statutes. Number 2, Isaiah 55 verse 6, seek the Lord while he may be found, call upon him while he is near. Number 3, Psalms 34 verse 17, when the righteous cry for help the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. Number 4, 2 Corinthians 9 verse 8, and God is able to make all grace abound to you so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times you may abound in every good work. Number 5, Colossians 1 verse 13. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved son. Number 6, Proverbs 3 verses 5-6, trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make straight your paths. The 7th verse was a repeat so I won't read that one out loud, but in the meantime you can leave a message below about what you think this program meant to you. I will be returning in my next podcast starting with semi-monthly talks about other Christian commentary to listen and comment to along with different Bible verses to help uplift your scriptural life.
