Mindfulness Over Intention (Drawing the Line)

The internet can be a cruel cruel place at times. On one of my routines scrolls through Facebook there was a post, that ready what not only I took offense to,but many others did also. It was one of those post that basically singled out a certain group with a salacious stereotype attached. It was interracial racism at its finest. Now, me knowing the author of the post personally, I struggled with whether or not I should comment at first. I even made an excuse by telling myself that they were simply seeking post engagement, until I dropped down into the comment section. There were many offended people and the author, well let’s just say he got plenty of engagement, but wasn’t very positive. So I decided to record this pod, in hopes of spending awareness on being mindful of what we post on social media. I don’t believe that a lot of thought went into the post before it was posted, so hence we’re here. Leave a comment let me know your thoughts.

The Overlooked History of Black Greatness (Honoring Black History)

For centuries Black people and our history have often been misunderstood due to historical systemic biases, and misrepresentation and a lack of control over mainstream narratives. The media has long portrayed Black communities through a narrow lens, focusing on struggle while often overlooking joy, innovation, and resilience. Before colonization, before the transatlantic slave trade, Africa was home to some of the most advanced and thriving civilizations in the world. We all know about Egypt, but what about the Kingdom of Ndongo, the Benin Empire, or the great city of Timbuktu? We often hear about slavery as if it was just something that happened to Black people. But let’s be clear—Black folks fought back every step of the way.In this episode this is the Black history they didn’t and still don’t teach you in school, but we’re bringing it to the forefront. Black History Month isn’t just about looking back—it’s about reclaiming our narrative and recognizing that our greatness didn’t start with struggle.
