Episode 15 What we Learned Together
This episode is full of imagination, ambition, and a strong sense of who this young voice wants to become. We hear a child mapping out the future in real time. A guard who helps people and listens when it matters most. A singer ready for the stage. A painter. A dancer. Each idea builds on the last, showing a mind that is open, creative, and full of possibility. What stands out is not only the range of ambitions, but the values behind them. Being kind, brave, smart, and strong matters as much as any job. Listening is seen as a skill. Helping others is the goal. Even complex ideas like responding to people in distress are understood through empathy and attention. There are also glimpses of uncertainty. Moments in school where things do not always make sense. But these sit alongside confidence, humour, and a clear belief in growth. This episode captures how children think about the future. Not in fixed plans, but in layers of identity, values, and imagination.__________________________________________________________________________________________________This project is supported through the Daphne-CHILD programme, a European initiative led by Eurochild and Terre des Hommes and funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme. Episode 9. Anti-drugs & Stress talk
This episode brings children’s voices to the centre of everyday challenges many of them face. Through stories about Jacob and Chloe, children explore real situations involving drugs, stress, anger, and friendship. Their responses are honest, practical, and grounded in their own lives.Jacob’s story opens a conversation about drugs, safety, and why people might turn to harmful coping strategies. The children respond with clear advice. They link drug use to stress and talk about healthier ways to cope, including swimming, yoga, and staying active. You hear how children understand risk, but also how they think about support and alternatives.Chloe’s story shifts the focus to anger and behaviour. The group reflects on what happens when emotions take over and how actions can affect others. They suggest ways to manage anger such as talking to parents, asking for help, taking time out, reading, listening to music, and stepping away from conflict. The discussion moves naturally into bullying, empathy, and the importance of recognising other people’s feelings.Across both stories, a strong message comes through. Children value being listened to. They know when something feels wrong. They also have clear ideas about what helps. Whether it is asking a teacher for support, speaking to a parent, or finding space to calm down, their solutions are rooted in everyday relationships and simple actions. This episode shows how children make sense of complex issues in direct and thoughtful ways. It highlights the importance of giving them space to speak, reflect, and support each other.__________________________________________________________________________________________________This project is supported through the Daphne-CHILD programme, a European initiative led by Eurochild and Terre des Hommes and funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme. Episode 3. How to do Kindness to my Community
In this episode children take on a simple challenge. A letter arrives with a worrying message. Kindness has disappeared from the community. The children step in to answer a direct question. What does kindness look like in real life?Their answers stay grounded in everyday moments. Kindness means including people who feel left out. Kindness means checking on someone who looks sad. If a child falls and gets hurt, help them up, bring tissues, and make sure they feel safe. Small actions carry meaning. The children also speak about respect. No one deserves to be laughed at for making a mistake. Laughing when someone struggles leads to bullying and hurt. Kindness means understanding how another person feels. One child shares a story about helping a sister after a fall from a scooter. Another speaks about helping people who live in poverty. Several talk about watching out for people who face danger. These reflections show how children connect kindness with responsibility and care. The conversation ends with a hopeful moment. One child explains a dream of becoming a Garda. The reasons stay clear. A Garda should be friendly, brave, and smart. The role offers a way to protect people and help the community. This episode forms part of the Listen to Us series. Children share their ideas about respect, safety, and how communities treat each other. Their voices show how kindness grows through simple actions and everyday choices.__________________________________________________________________________________________________This project is supported through the Daphne-CHILD programme, a European initiative led by Eurochild and Terre des Hommes and funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme. They speak about kindness, safety, fairness, and how adults should listen to their ideas about the community where they live. The conversation begins with a reminder of the history around them. If a child became the leader of Ireland, what changes would help build a kinder society? The answers show how clearly children understand the problems around them. Some talk about justice and safety. Others focus on kindness and respect. Several speak about homelessness and the need for practical solutions such as affordable places for people to live and support to help them find work.Playgrounds and public spaces also matter. Children describe how fireworks in parks frighten younger children and make shared spaces feel unsafe. Their message stays simple. Public places should feel safe for everyone.Another child focuses on health and care. If given power, they would invest money in hospitals, doctors, psychologists, and veterinary services so more people and animals receive help when they need it.Across the conversation one theme repeats. Children notice what happens around them. They care about fairness, safety, and kindness. Their ideas show empathy, common sense, and a strong sense of justice. This episode forms part of the “Listen to Us” series, where children share their views on the issues shaping their lives and their communities. Episode 1. The Police came and arrested him
In this episode children reflect on a creative drama activity where they worked together to write and perform their own short play. The conversation captures the excitement of storytelling, imagination, and teamwork as the children describe what they created together. One group explains how they acted out a scene they called “Mean Girls and Sabotage Girls.” The performance included different roles such as police officers, teachers, and emergency services. Through their story the children explored what happens when someone gets hurt and how people respond to help. The scene follows a dramatic moment on the street where someone is attacked. The police arrive, the person responsible is arrested, and an ambulance comes to help the injured person. Through play and performance the children worked through ideas about right and wrong, justice, and how communities respond when something bad happens. The episode shows how creative activities give children a way to express what they see around them and how they understand the world. Through drama they explore safety, responsibility, and care for others while building confidence and learning to work as a team. This conversation forms part of the “Listen to Us” series, where children share their voices, ideas, and experiences. Their stories remind adults how powerful creativity and play are in helping children make sense of the world around them.__________________________________________________________________________________________________This project is supported through the Daphne-CHILD programme, a European initiative led by Eurochild and Terre des Hommes and funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme.
