All true Christians have the same salvation, this common salvation.

There is only one way of salvation. The old Testament saints looked forward, we look back, but it is to the same saviour. Jesus is the only way.

The Lord Jesus Christ sent his disciples to do local evangelism. We need to consider what is essential in our work locally.

We live in a day when men are openly engaging in works of darkness.Very often in the past men who did works of darkness hid away. We live in a day when men and women openly take the name of the Lord in vain, a day when some ministers of churches are doing the work of Satan. Yea hath God said, said the Serpent. He sought to make the word of God doubtful. Are you bold enough to defy this evil?

Today everyone seems to live life their own way. It feels right to you, maybe you do think it is right. But it is important to be sure that it is the right way. Your opinion and feelings are not the standard. You must come to God's word the Bible. Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life. Jesus is the only way.

We can never fully comprehend God, but he has revealed his attributes in the scriptre. In our text we learn that God is just. He punishes sin where ever it is found. Every trangression shall have its just reward.

When the number of people following John the Baptist decreased there was some jealous comments. John, however, helps us have the right view. But, this must not prevent us from opposing popular errors in churches.

There has been a great transformarion. If you are a Christian you have been accepted. Once we were not a people, but now we are the people of God. This is all of grace.

The prevalent idea seems to be that any thing the world can do, the church can do. We have seen the pop culture enter the church. The gospel has been replaced by gimmicks. The church has lowered standards to try and get people in.

The final perserverance of those who are Christ's is a glorious truth. Often known as eternal security. Salvation is certain.

Jesus came to Nazareth. The people were were ready to hear him. He preached from Isaiah, but was met with sceptisim.

There is much confusion about God's way of salvation, even in evangelical circles. But there is on;y one way to God and that is through the person of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The motive behind all the Lord Jesus Christ's work on earth was his compassion. When he saw people's condition, he was moved with compassion. They were scattered as sheep having no shepherd.

What role does God's law have for you as a Christian today? The Bible is clear that we are not justified by law-keeping. However, we do have a moral responsibility to comply with the moral law. It is a rule of duty. Christ's obedience does not release you from its obligation. Robert Haldane said, "The doctrine of justification by the imputed righteousness of Christ does not release believers from obedience to the law."

Paul took the opportunity put before him to set before Felix the word of God. Felix was alarmed when the biblical principles were applied to him.

We are called to give thanks unto the Lord for he is good, to continually offer our sacrifice of praise.

Jonah prayed in unique circumstances, but we see the ordinary principles of believing prayer. This cry from Jonah's lips can help us as ordinary Christians to pray. We note he pared from the belly of the big fish. This was a living hell for him. There is no place on earth where we can not pray and be heard by the Lord.

He suffered and died voluntarily. The Good Shepherd gave his life for the sheep. He had the power to keep his life, to lay it down and the power to take it again.

This prayer gives guidance on how to pray. Most of us tend to pray more in a time of trouble. Habakkuk prayed the way he did because of God's revelation.

The prophet Jonah preached against the city of Nineveh. He told them clearly that they would be destroyed because of thei9r wickedness. Often God's prophets were despised and rejected. Their message was also rejected. However, when Jonah went to Nineveh they repented. God showed mercy to them. How did this affect Jonah? He was very angry. He felt that he had lost credibility as a prophet. So as he left the city, he was very disgruntled.

We live is a day of gossip, slander and rumour. These vices are common and cause much heartache. The seriousness of this is not realised. Adultery, stealing and lies are serious sins, but so too is evil speaking.

It was normal for a servant to wash dusty feet. It was a lowly task. In the upper room there were only the disciples and Jesus. When none of the disciples offered to do this work Jesus, the Son of God, became a servant unto all. Peter then made some mistakes which we can learn from.

The ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ to the disciples is exceedingly precious.

Today there is pressure to go along with evil. The powerful demand idolatry. In the book of Daniel the three Hebrew men faced the test, would they bow to the golden image? They had the courage of their convictions. They were strong in God's strength.

The doctrine of election is very difficult to understand. A.W. Pink has said it is a "profound mystery altogether beyond the mind to comprehend." But that does not mean we should neglect it. There are many mysteries, the question of sin, of inequality, of God dealing with some one way in his providence and some another.

There has been a time of testing, a time of difficulty. I believe this has been a time of preparation and the Lord has work for us today.

There is a tremendous need for the pulling together of the Lord's people. When Nehemiah explained the problem, the people stirred one another up to action. May you have the resolve to reach out to other people with the gospel. Don't delay; immediate action is required. The date is based on a reference to New Year's resolutions, and working in 1985, it is, therefore, uncertain.

This is a truth which brings much happiness to the people of God. Once a man has trusted in Christ, he can not fall from a state of grace. He is kept and preserved for God's eternal kingdom.

In different times and places God has raised up mighty soul winning churches. May we have a continual passion for the souls of the lost and may the Lord make us a soul winning church.

It is true that most of the Lord's people are conscious of their inadequacy and long to know more power, to be fit for the master's use. Is this one of your desires? Let me tell you it is possible to seek power to the neglect of seeking after Christ. Looking for experience instead of a more intimate knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Your priority must be knowing Christ.

Do you ever fell ashamed of yourself as a Christian because you have doubts overwhelming you. Let me give you a word of comfort. Even the best of the disciples were overcome with doubt. Simon Peter was close to Christ, but even he was a strange mixture of faith and doubt.

There was a rebuke for the Church at Pergamos, because they were compromisers with what our saviour hates. Jesus Christ despises false doctrine. Today so many so called Christinans tolerate error, this is ruining the church. Repent or else I will come and fight against you in judgement. But it is not all rebuke. There is a word of commendation for thier good points. Right under Satan's nose they held fast the name of Jesus Chirst.

God called Jonah to take God's word to Nineveh, so Jonah went in the opposite direction and fell asleep. But God stirred up a storm and Jonah became profitable.

Who receive the gospel invitation? Those who thirst. What is the gospel invitation? A call to come to Christ and drink.
