He has a heart for building bridges across denominational lines, and he helps lead several in depth Bible studies with other churches and groups in his area.   Matt loves to draw on historical records and 1st Century context in search of a deeper aspect to the Biblical narrative, especially in reference to the Messiah.​ Matt graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a degree in Social Sciences. He then went on to earn a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Amridge University, and he is currently a PhD candidate at the same university with an expected graduation in May 2024. His focus later in his education has been on literary criticism, Hebrew poetry, and the prophets, and his dissertation focuses on comparing the Hebrew and Greek texts of the book of Micah.
