Mirror Dimly Face to Face

During the lockdown years, it became very much more difficult to keep up my connection with people in person, but at the same time online platforms presented other opportunities. Through Zoom and other means I began to connect with friends, colleagues and family in a very new way. As I have always tried to encourage people on their own spiritual and transformational path, starting a podcast to share about my own spiritual exploration and discovery seemed a natural next step. This first series starts by discussing the person of Jesus Messiah and the different metaphors he used to describe his relationship to us as his disciples. I will present a series of short teachings of about 20 minutes in length, and I will release them every two weeks or so. My hope is that these will inspire all who listen to discover the person and presence of Jesus more deeply, and to therefore be able to represent both Jesus and his mission very much better in our troubled and unstable world.

  1. 10

    EP 10 PEACE AND JOY

This is the final episode of this first series; a series in which we have discussed the promises Jesus made to His disciples in the Farewell Discourses and the wonderful ways He described His relationship to themIn this episode we discuss His promise of peace and joy and the sending of Another Comforter.

  2. 9

    EP 9 FRIENDS

In this penultimate episode in this series we will be discussing the final thing Jesus says about His relationship to us His followers. He says that no longer will He call us servants, He will be calling us friends and what a transformation and privilege that is.

  3. 8

    EP 8 FRUITFULNESS

As we continue our study of the Farewell Discourses about the things that Jesus came to restore, we will look at the promise He gives to those who abide in Him; the promise of fruitfulness. Throughout the pages of Scripture, those who are faithful in their relationship to God live fruitful and blessed lives, the reward of the righteous is life and blessing.

  4. 7

    EP 7 PARADISE

We take a slight detour in this episode exploring the concept of paradise in the New Testament particularly. It will tie together a number of things we have been discussing. I have based this episode on a teaching given by Tim Mackie from 'The Bible Project'.

  5. 6

EP 6 IN HIM WAS LIFE

In this episode, we look together at the second thing that Adam surrendered but which Jesus restored. which is life itself. The Genesis account states that God separated Adam and Eve from the Tree of Life immediately following Adam's rebellion. A warrior angel stood guard to deny access to Adam and Eve from the Tree of Life and subsequently to deny access to the rest of humankind. Jesus through His life, death and resurrection, restored life to us. We will look at a number of passages where Jesus mentions life specifically.

  6. 5

EP 5. IN MY FATHER'S HOUSE PART II

In this Episode, we talk more specifically about the restoration of God's dwelling amongst His people from the Farewell Discourses (John 13-17)and other New Testament passages. We will discover that Jesus specifically addresses and makes provision for all the consequences of Adam's rebellion.

  7. 4

EP 4 IN MY FATHER'S HOUSE PART I

In the last episode, we talked about the things that Adam had lost as expressly mentioned in Genesis chapter 3. For this episode, we turn our attention to the Scriptures revealing how God began to restore all that had been lost. I devote 2 episodes exploring passages in both the Old and New Testaments which discuss the restoration of God's dwelling amongst His people. This episode focuses on the Old Testament.

  8. 3

    EP 2 THE WIDER PICTURE

In this episode I briefly refer to some the significant challenges that the believer is facing in the world at the moment and the urgency of building a harbour of safety in our hearts.

  9. 2

    EP 3 WHAT ADAM LOST

In this episode we look at 3 specific things from Genesis 3 that this scripture tells us that Adam has lost.

  10. 1

    EP 1. INTRODUCTION

In this episode I will take you through our reasons for starting this podcast and show you why you will want to come with us on this journey.
