Mission Complete w/ Jonathan Modeste

In today’s society, the role of a Christian man or woman is skewed and always shifting in various directions. As the body of Christ, we sometimes tend to focus on one aspect of the faith, while neglecting or downplaying the other elements that are meant to bolster our walk with God, which would aid in our effectiveness as ambassadors in God’s Kingdom. The truth of the matter is that we all have some elements we can work on, but unless we’re aware of those impediments, then we cannot fully manifest the fullness of God’s plan in our lives. How do we put all of this together? We need to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the deficiencies in ourselves; allow ourselves to accept them as elements that need to be worked on; seek God’s word on the matter; and to obey whatever He has commanded. We need to remember that as individuals who were made in the image and likeness of God, we are capable of achieving so much more, if we submit to the will and way of God; to where we become individuals whose

System 1 and System 2 of Sanctification

In psychology, there are two methods of thinking that affect everyone in every situation. This is the philosophy of System 1 and System 2 – or in simpler terms, Fast Thinking and Slow Thinking. Now, these two tenants are predicated on your upbringing, your environment, what you ingest into your subconscious mind, and our general word-view. They are essential the building blocks of all the decisions you make and the consequences you ultimately live with. At one end of the spectrum, System 1 runs automatically, based on your presuppositions and habits you’ve adopted over time. It takes the sum of all experiences in their categorized subsections, and comes up with a quick solution, that is quick and concise. That in itself sounds tantalizing, considering our proclivity/inclination to get things done fast, but that same train of thought can cause heartache and a host of mistakes, since we are not really intentional with what we say or do, and in the case of a Christian, don’t allow the Holy Spirit to inspire and direct us down the true and definitive path of righteousness. On the other end of the spectrum, System 2 is slower in the way in which it produces results and interrogates information. It dives deep down into the subconscious mind and questions what is presented, and formulates a meticulous chain of steps to execute a more robust plan. With those two ideologies contending for dominance in theater of your mind, how do we act out both ends effectively and efficiently? As always, that answer can be found in the Word of God.

    Job vs. Work

In many cases, the reason why we feel purposeless and drained at our places of employment, is because we don’t look past what our job entails. Beyond the office chair, the drill floor, nurses' station, sales meetings, etc., is a great commission that goes far beyond a paycheck. The work we were created to do, was embedded within us since the day we were born and before the beginning of time. We were made to worship God and to promote His name wherever we go. Once that becomes the forefront of our drive, we’ll never have to worry about having a job…because we’ll always be working for the Lord.

    Wi-Fi Faith

In this age of technology, there have been many advancements in the social construct in which we live in. From sitting on the cusp of self-driving cars, to smartphones that would put some supercomputers of the distance past to shame, we have taken leaps and bounds into the future; but one of the most used forms of technology, that we can’t seem to get enough of, would have to be Wi-Fi. From trying to connect various devices, to wanting to cut back on utilizing your mobile data plan, Wi-Fi has become somewhat of a staple in today’s society. Now, when you think of Wi-Fi, the main takeaway from this little gem, is proximity. What I mean in essence, is that in order to garner the full potential the Wi-Fi has to offer, you have to draw closer to the source of the signal. In the same way, from a spiritual standpoint, we must remain close to the Source (God) if we want to tap into the full potential of what He has to offer.

    God's Law of Spiritual Exchange

Sir Isaac Newton’s 3rd Law of motion states, “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.” Essentially stating that the force of a specific object upon another is translated in a chain reaction that results in an equal transfer of energy. In simpler terms, you get out what you put in, in the physical sense. Now, in the spiritual sense, there are some stark parallels in regard to this “revelation”. Thankfully, God knows that our imperfection hinders us from giving our best in order to receive the best He has for us, but He still REQUIRES us to perform acts of obedience, love, grace, forgiveness, etc., in order to receive our blessings in full!

They say they should separate church from state. They say that God shouldn't be in the government. They say society doesn't need the "old and antiquated" words of an "Ancient God". Manhood: What is a Father?

The saying, “Be a man”, isn’t a witty catch phrase or a trivial notion uttered by the shifting social construct. It is a decree and call from the Most High God, to all fathers. The job as a mother is like no other, and carries immense responsibility, but the role of a father is the literal “seed” that germinates the potential for a family to grow towards a safe, sustainable, and flourishing future. We cannot put down our swords and leave anything up to chance. As fathers, we are truly needed by society and loved and cherished by our families. Our role reflects the Divine Himself, so our potential is limitless. Keep fighting the good fight. Keep seeking the Lord and His purpose for you. The world may press on all sides, BUT GOD BUILD YOU TO LAST!!!

In this episode of Mission Complete, Rodney Newton and I dive into the principles and foundations that make up the Kingdom Mindset. This is world is jaded with so many variations of government and conflicting narratives, so if you do not have something that is superordinate guiding you, we fall prey to the machinations of our minds and social norms. Our goal is to explore the mindset that can set us on the right path.

  21. 8

    Kingdom Citizenship

We must come to realize that the Kingdom mindset should be the primary, driving force that influences everything we do and speak. As ambassadors to our King, our primary job is to obey His Word, reflect His Son, and promote righteousness. With so many distractions vying for our attention, a spiritual gut-check is needed; in order to know where our true allegiance lies. The government of this world, or the Kingdom of God?

  22. 7

    Brokenness: The Stained Glass Window

No matter what you’ve been through or what your currently situation looks like, God can take your broken pieces and turn you into a work of art. We were not meant to take on this life on our own. Our mentality and overall outlook should not be solidified in the fact that we are broken - for in our brokenness, we are made whole in Christ.

  23. 6

Social Constructs: The Machinations of Society

What is a social construct? It is a set of phycological rules, regulations, and presuppositions that are erected from the status quo society decides to adopt, depending on the political and spiritual climate that is prevalent at the moment. How does that definition hold up to the Word if God, and how can we reorient society back in the proper direction?

    Hurricane Season

Much like hurricanes, the woes and hurdles in life are natural disasters/happenings. It doesn’t necessarily have to do with anything you did wrong, or if you made a mistake. Just like in the story of Job, life may seem unfair, but there is purpose in the pain. We must accept that seemingly unfortunate truth in our existence, build our foundation on the Word of God, withstand the onslaught, allow our Heavenly Father to pull us through, and learn from it all. So, WHEN those trials and tribulations make their way back to us, we’ll hopefully be more prepared to conquer our giants more effectively.

The Art of Kindness w/ Pastor Daniel Alaigba

In today’s society, there seems to be a decline in or empathy for one another, and childhood trauma is resurfacing on various fronts. How do we get back to those wholesome beginnings? How do we repair what was broken? How do we pass this trait on to the next generation effectively? That is what I would like to discuss with our guest today, Daniel Alaigba.

Faith, Hope, and Love w/ Ese Ebhomielen

Today we’ll be diving into the definitions of faith, hope, and love, and the subtle interplay that weaves these essential cornerstones together. Each element boasts heavy implications individually, with an unreachable depth that transcends the trivial, but when they are combined as one entity, the impact is far reaching and transfiguring. For though they are separate entities, they are incomplete without the other. ***Despite all the audio issues we encountered during this first official recording , we couldn't find it in ourselves to redo it all, in the spirit of keeping the conversation; so we we apologize for the reduction in quality. Things will get better going forward.***

    The Introduction

As we launch this podcast, I'd like to introduce myself and also give you a general idea of what I hope to accomplish - or better yet, inspire. We are all on this journey called life, and there is no one who "has it all together." With that in mind, it is imperative that we cross-pollinate ideas, viewpoints, and inspire the Logos (the spoken word of life). As the Word of God states in Proverbs 27:17, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." That is the mission. That is the purpose.
