    Remembering Divine Love

Welcome back to The Nothing Doubting Podcast. I owe you all a life update regarding the chaotic events that have unfolded since January, including moving homes, managing a new pregnancy, and continuing to grapple with familial health issues. I have deeply appreciated how divine love and guidance have been a source of solace during a difficult time, even during moments when I least expected help. In today’s episode, we discuss some of the reasons it is so easy to lose sight of the divine love that emanates from the Savior. We discuss some of the misconceptions that can cloud our ability to connect with divine love and some of the ways we can continue to seek out the profound love of Jesus Christ even in our darkest moments.00:00 Welcome Back to The Nothing Doubting Podcast00:51 Personal Update: Moving and Family Challenges05:03 Finding Jesus Amidst Chaos11:04 A Tender Mercy of Divine Love17:22 Lehi's Dream and The Tree of Life25:38 Overcoming Misconceptions about the Love of God31:51 Conclusion and Next Episode PreviewReferences:* 1 Nephi 8:4-12, 21-24* Jacob 3:1-2* Runia, B. Episode 13 - Who Is That Divine Voice?

Happy New Year and welcome to episode 13 of the Nothing Doubting podcast. I hope your holidays were wonderful. I certainly enjoyed some time off but I am excited to jump back in to the discussion of faith and how each of us can come to know, “Nothing doubting.”In this episode we recap where we have been so far in the discussion of personal revelation and how the voice of God is more certain when we can recognize multiple aspects of true revelation present. The central theme of this episode explores 'whose voice' is heard when receiving revelation, diving into the roles of God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost, as well as our Divine Mother within Latter-day Saint theology. We consider the unity of divine beings but also the need to develop a relationship with each of them separately. We illustrate how Jesus Christ serves as the intermediary who answers prayers directed to the Father. We also touch on the desire to know more about a Heavenly Mother. The episode concludes with encouragement for listeners to seek personal revelation to deepen their understanding of these divine relationships.00:00 Welcome Back to the Podcast00:57 The Importance of Sharing Testimonies04:07 Understanding Revelation05:48 Whose Voice is It Anyway?12:30 The Concept of Unity in the Godhead19:51 Roles of the Son and the Holy Ghost35:23 Understanding Our Heavenly Mother42:27 Conclusion and Next Steps This is a public episode. Episode 12 - The Redeemer's Voice

In this episode of the Nothing Doubting podcast, we dive into the concept of personal revelation, focusing on recognizing the voice of God.The discussion reviews where we have been so far, summarizing the feelings of the heart—burning, love, peace, and comfort—and introduces the idea that personal revelation also affects the mind. I provide a brief synopsis of the topic of voice hearing from the psychological perspective and compare and contrast how hearing the voice of God is similar, but also quite different than other voice hearing situations. Through examining scriptures, we gain deep insight into what the voice of God is actually like, what attributes of this voice we might notice. I make the argument in favor of learning to hear God in many ways. Relying on multiple ways to hear God, not just one way through feelings, strengthens faith and mitigates faith crises during challenging times when our feelings are compromised. I conclude by affirming that knowing God's voice is a privilege available to everyone, not just prophets. And it is the privilege of a lifetime!00:00 Welcome to the Nothing Doubting Podcast 00:45 Thanksgiving Recap and Holiday Plans 01:25 Understanding Personal Revelation: Heart and Mind 03:30 The Importance of Mind in Personal Revelation 05:05 Recognizing God's Voice in Our Minds 15:14 Biblical Examples of Hearing God's Voice 18:28 Mental Health and Hearing God's Voice 33:59 Verifying Personal Revelation 38:42 Conclusion and Next StepsReferences:* Doctrine & Covenants 8:2* Acts 9:3-5* Dein, S., & Littlewood, R. In this episode of the Nothing Doubting podcast, I reflect on the holiday's significance for myself and share a brief conversation about the influence of the Holy Ghost, specifically focusing on the feeling of comfort he provides. I discuss various personal experiences of divine comfort, including the moment during a time of immense personal grief, when Jesus fulfilled the promise to take my doubts away. The episode emphasizes the role of the Holy Ghost as the Comforter, as described in religious texts, and encourages listeners to seek and trust in the comfort and guidance offered by faith in Jesus Christ.00:00 Introduction and Thanksgiving Greetings00:17 The Influence of the Holy Ghost: Revisiting Peace01:09 The Holy Ghost as Comforter02:18 Personal Experiences with Comfort07:30 A Life-Changing Encounter with Jesus11:43 Struggles and Adjustments17:22 Conclusion and Thanksgiving WishesReferences:* John 14:16* Dawkins, R. Episode 10 - "Peace I Leave With You"

Welcome to episode 10 of the Nothing Doubting podcast. Our focus in this episode is on deepening faith in Jesus Christ by understanding peace and what it tells us about personal revelation. The feeling of peace has unique properties. It is a coveted but rare state. It cannot be artificially manufactured by our own minds but is solely a byproduct of honesty and truth. I share a few personal stories and scriptural examples to illustrate how the peace of God can be, surprisingly, the wrong feeling for the moment in dire situations; making it stick out as an oddity. Throughout this episode we make the argument for peace as as a powerful testament for what is true. The episode also differentiates between peace and relief, underscoring that peace is an indicator of truth and relief may or may not be. Listeners are encouraged to think about how peace has presented in their lives and engage deeply with their faith by seeking personal revelations through prayer.00:00 Introduction and Listener Appreciation 00:50 Recap of Last Episode: Feeling the Holy Ghost 01:48 Deep Doctrine vs. Thinking Deeply 02:49 The Importance of Deep Understanding 04:45 Exploring the Internal Experience of God 06:49 The Remarkable Characteristic of Peace 12:30 Personal Story: Finding Peace in Turbulent Times 21:43 Scriptural Examples of Peace in Adversity 23:31 Peace as Evidence of God's Existence 36:50 Distinguishing Peace from Relief 43:55 Conclusion and Invitation to Engage with GodReferences:* Leslie, I. Episode 9 - The Holy Ghost

Welcome to episode nine of the Nothing Doubting podcast. In this episode, we're going to ask the questions you have always wanted to ask. To begin, I revisit a few key ideas from the previous discussion on foundational tools for observing divine experiences and dig deeper into understanding the feeling of God's presence, often described as the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost. I reference various descriptions of the Holy Ghost, like a burning feeling or sensation of perfect love. We also also get into a scientific study that observed the brain activity of devout Latter-day Saints experiencing the Holy Ghost, discuss its implications and the unique consistency of spiritual experiences among the Latter-day Saints. We clarify that such experiences are not pathological but fundamental aspects of the human experience.  Lastly, the episode touches on the universal nature of divine experiences across various faiths and encourages listeners to identify and record their own encounters with the Holy Ghost.00:00 Welcome and Introduction00:54 Reflecting on Past Episodes01:52 Understanding the Holy Ghost02:34 Scriptural Examples of the Holy Ghost07:29 The Holy Ghost in Doctrine and Practice11:17 Scientific Study on Spiritual Experiences21:06 Personal Experiences and Observations34:25 Conclusion and Next Week's PreviewReferences* Luke 24:13-16, 32* Moroni 8:26* Acts 2:1-4, 16-17* John 14:25-26* Doctrine & Covenants 130:22* Ferguson, M. Episode 8 - Is Your Faith on Solid Ground?

Welcome to the 8th episode of the Nothing Doubting podcast. In this episode, we discuss how to recognize and validate personal revelation by observing the principles that true things follow. We explore the principles of relevance and appropriateness and how they apply to evaluating personal revelation. We talk about how our testimonies need to be based on good-quality evidence. We dissect the experience of revelation into two components; the internal experience of personal revelation and the external confirmation of that revelation.  I share two experiences, one during my college midterms and the other later on during challenges with postpartum depression, to contrast the concept of confidence in one’s revelatory experiences. We emphasize the importance of developing confidence in one's spiritual experiences through careful analysis and understanding. In this episode I encourage you to evaluate their own experiences, evaluate your own confidence in these moments of revelation, and work towards raising your level of certainty to better prepare for life's challenges.00:20 Welcome to Episode Eight00:40 My Radical Truth Claim02:00 Understanding the Concept of Appropriateness in Faith07:37 Personal Experience: College Midterms Miracle18:31 Internal and External Evidence of God20:53 Scriptural Examples of Signs23:16 Jacob's Encounter with Sherem25:43 The Role of Signs in Faith26:41 Personal Evidence and Confidence31:17 A Story of Postpartum Depression36:42 Evaluating Spiritual Experiences42:03Addressing Doubts and Building Confidence46:46 Conclusion and Next StepsReferences:* 1 Kings 19:11-12* Alma 30:43, 49,51 * Jacob 7:5, 13* Doctrine & Covenants 63:9-10* Clore GL. In this thought-provoking episode, I invite you to consider the question, “where should we search for God?” We explore the places people commonly expect to find God and what secularism demands as evidence of His existence. From navigating the challenges of balancing belief and rational thought, to humorous and relatable stories about everyday struggles like garbage collection, we aim to break down barriers to understanding about where God wants to be found and why it makes sense to search exactly where we need Him most. We delve into complex topics such as creation, evolution, and the complicated relationship between science and faith, drawing on personal anecdotes and scriptural references. Join us as we reflect on love, grief, and the quest for a deeper connection with a loving God, seeking to find evidence of the divine within our own selves; the place that in the end, makes the most sense after all.00:00 Welcome to the Nothing Doubting Podcast00:35 Addressing Technical Issues from Last Episode01:02 Recap of the Conundrum of Feeling from Last Episode03:05 Searching for God: Where to look?04:25 Evidence of God in the Natural World07:08 The Clash Between Science and Faith07:23 Roberta's Story: Faith and. Episode 6 - Balancing Faith

Welcome to episode 6 of the Nothing Doubting podcast. In this episode, we discuss the complex interplay between logic and feeling within the context of personal revelation. I recap how assumptions can impact belief in Jesus Christ and emphasizes the importance of personal revelation, in addition to scriptural insight, in developing unshaken faith. The episode explores the challenges and uncertainties associated with seeking divine guidance. Delving into the cultural preference for logical reasoning in contrast to intuition in decision making, especially in my home setting of Silicon Valley, we look at extremes to gain understanding of what it means to find balance. This episode seeks to help listeners find a more balanced approach, where both rational thinking and rational feeling work together to understand spiritual truths. The episode concludes with an invitation to embrace personal revelation and trust in divine guidance.01:02 Welcome to the Nothing Doubting Podcast01:17 Recapping the Problem with Assumptions About God02:40 Two Components of Testimony: Searching the Prophets and Many Revelations07:30 Personal Revelation Needs to Be Understood09:19 Logic vs. Feeling in Faith15:13 The Challenge of Accuracy in Personal Revelation20:13 Rationality vs. Feeling: A Societal Perspective20:27 My Evening with Richard Dawkins21:53 The Extremes of Logic and Emotion24:28 Historical Consequences of Pure Logic25:46 Integrating Feeling in Decision Making27:40 Revelation: Balancing Logic and Feeling29:18 Personal Experiences with Revelation31:37 A New Understanding of Revelation35:49 Applying The Rules of True Things to Faith42:11 The Savior's Tailored Teaching43:20 Conclusion and InvitationReferences:* Book of Mormon, Jacob 4:6* #HearHim* New Testament, John 17:3* *Kushner, D. In this episode of the Nothing Doubting podcast, Rosalie tells about the investigation that happened after the surprising, transformative experience while reading the Book of Mormon from Episode 3. Rosalie discusses the internal conflict she faced between her doubts and the unexpected Presence of Divine Grace, emphasizing how her repeated experiences with the Presence challenged her previous understanding of grace as something earned rather than freely given by the Savior. She draws on scriptural examples, personal stories, and insights from interactions with others who were also observed to receive grace freely, encouraging listeners to explore their personal relationship with Jesus and accept the grace He offers. The episode concludes that Jesus meets us where we are, using grace to help us in the place we are stuck. 00:00 Welcome to the Nothing Doubting Podcast00:45 The Investigation of What Happened that Night of Thanksgiving02:02  Confusion Over Why 04:40 Missing that Divine Presence08:13 Asking for Grace Like the Voice Said to Do11:49 A Repeated Divine Encounter18:40 Confusion Over Grace vs. Works20:14 Elder Holland on Perfectionism20:43 Misunderstanding of Grace in LDS Doctrine29:39 Bright Line Tests and Their Fairness30:44 The Concept of Grace and Bright Line Thinking31:59 Alma the Younger: A Case Study in Grace33:50 When Righteousness Becomes Your Identity36:41 Understanding Grace Through Personal Stories38:16 Nadine's Story: A Personal Perspective on Jesus40:41 Janet's Story: Grace in Unexpected Places46:26 The Nature of Grace and Personal Revelation53:12 Receiving Grace in Your Life58:06 Conclusion: Embracing Grace and Looking Forward This is a public episode.
