We are all flawed - as human beings there is no getting around that. Many of us grew up being taught the importance of community service - and throughout our school-age years, we are given plenty of opportunities to engage. "I don't want to be labeled as a Christian anymore." It seems as if this sentiment is being shared frequently among the Christian community as the word, "Christian" is a powder keg of misuse. More and more the word "Christian" is being associated with descriptors like judgmental, bigoted, homophobic, hateful, racist, misogynistic, exclusive, hypocritical and many more - and in the process, the message of Jesus is being lost. What is up with the church's need to be so "judgey?" As verified by research, one of the biggest issues people have with the church is its judgment - judgment of people's lifestyles, beliefs, opinions, choices, etc. As local church pastors, nothing infuriates us more. Afterall, Jesus followers have not been called to judge, but to love.
