We're sure you've heard this one and probably said yourself on more than one occasion.  There's a story that goes along with this one nicely that led Kellie to a place she had never been before. Ep 36: Inspirational Quote Pt 3

We're back this week with another episode of a powerful Inspirational Quote that has had a profound effect on our lives. Lindsey is up this week with a quote she learned from her Coach and Mentor, Jim Fortin. This quote is a two-fold: there are two layers to this one. So buckle up! If you find yourself people-pleasing: This quote is for you.  If you find yourself concerned with upsetting others, or being judged by others: This quote is for you. If you find yourself thinking about, worrying about, what others might think: This quote is for you. That's the first layer! If you're a human - this quote is for you! That's the second layer.   After listening, be sure to leave us a comment, a review, and share. We want to be able to reach as many people with this content, and to do so, we need your help. Your reviews, comments and shares help us reach more people. So we really appreciate it.    Special Shout Out: Jim Fortin  Insta: @IamJimFortin

    Inspirational Quote - Pt. 2

Admit it: you love a good inspirational quote, do you not? Sometimes you hear that quote that sums up exactly how you're feeling. Sometimes you hear that quote that lights a fire under you. Sometimes you hear that quote that resonates so deeply you can't forget it.  And sometimes, you hear a quote and think, "Ooooh that's gooood", and then forget all about it as you go about your day. Our intention for this episode (and the next 3 episodes for that matter!) is: To share some inspirational quotes that have held meaning for us in our lives... AND How they've impacted our lives as we put them into practice.    Kellie up this week for part 2 of our inspirational quotes. The week is one I'm sure you've heard before, in fact I'm sure we've mentioned it on the Podcast before. This is one that Kellie reminds herself of all the time. Especially today as it's the anniversary of her fathers passing.   What are some powerful, inspirational quotes that you've applied to your life? How have they impacted you? You might find it there, but it actually was something a family member said to her that resonated really deeply and she keeps it close to her heart in her daily life.    As most things: It's really rather simple. Ep 33 - Break Free from Binge Eating

This week we have a very special guest joining us: Reshanda Yates! Reshanda helps emotional eaters stop binge eating. (Did your brain just explode? Yeah, ours too.)   How do you stop emotional eating? How do you break free from binge eating? We can hear it now... "Are you telling me I can eat without shame, guilt, or worrying about 'un-doing the damage'? Yes. Yes we are.  Here at Permission to Explore we often speak of letting go of the overthinking, perfectionism, and self-judgement... Guess what the most common traits Reshanda sees with the people who work with her around binge eating... Overthinking. Perfectionism. Self-judgement. If you're ready to learn how to eat with peace. Ep 32 - How Do You Get In Your Own Way

Have you experienced 'self-sabotage' before? Hands up over here! How do you stop self-sabotaging? Well, we're going to begin to tackle that right here today. We're looking at this from a few different aspects: Physical, Mental, and Emotional. For instance, how often do you find yourself saying, "I can't do XYZ"? What makes you believe that? Did you hear that from someone at some point? Did you try it once and not feel successful? Or perhaps it's simply uncomfortable, therefore, you think it's not for you. Sometimes, the belief is the very thing that perpetuates the problem.  Hence, getting in your own way! Some of the specific ways we see/hear from our clients (and ourselves): Talking about/saying "I can't do xyz" as a way to avoid doing xyz.  Scheduling! "My schedule is soooo full!" And then  immediately filling it up when there's some free space.  "I'm exhausted. I'm so tired all the time." But not allowing yourself to rest.  Then, there are the emotional patterns and beliefs driving those physical behaviors and circumstances.  ...which are simply another way of getting in your own way... Because you are the creator of your beliefs! Are you ready to dive in? Let's go explore! (P.S.: We apologize for the back ground noise in this episode: The puppy and the toddler wanted in on this one! #life )   Want to connect with us daily? Come follow us: Insta: @permissiontoexploreretreats FB: @permissiontoexploreretreats   Have a topic that you want to know more about? Perhaps a topic that you want us to discuss? Send us an email: [email protected] Or send us a DM.    Have you found value in this podcast? Share with your friends! Ep31: 10 Questions for Insight

If you're anything like most of the women we work with, you may find yourself saying things like, "I feel like I've lost myself". We promise, you haven't lost yourself. You've simply been disconnected from yourself.  So this week, we thought we'd try something a little different: We're going to ask questions to each other! We have no idea what questions each other has prepared, but each question is designed to help you reflect and provide insight to you about yourself, your patterns, your ways of thinking.  Take these questions, apply them to you, and see what develops.  Then reach out, and let us know what you discovered!   Instagram: @permissiontoexploreretreats Facebook: @permissiontoexploreretreats Email: [email protected]   If you've found value in this episode - leave us a review and share! It will help us reach more people, creating more expansion and helping more people shedding their suffering and experiencing more peace and joy. And who couldn't use more of that?!

The One Thing You MUST Do In Order To Heal

Whether it's a physical ailment, an emotional ailment, the solution is the same.   There is ONE thing you must do. And it's far more simple than you think. But, like most things, we humans complicate it... We complicate it with our thoughts, our attachments to our emotions, our attachments to our thoughts about our emotions!   Because:  You Are Where Your Attention Is. In this episode we're diving into some of the physical and the emotional with personal examples and the common things we hear from those we work with. Plus, of course, we're going to offer some tangible tools to implement. Because information is one thing, and application is another!   Are you interested in learning more about what you heard here? Send us a DM - Instagram: @permissiontoexploreretreats Or an email: [email protected]   Enjoyed this episode? Share with those who you think would also find value.   Finding value? Leave us a review. We'd appreciate you connecting with us.

  10. 29

How Often Are You Feeling Like You Have To Do It All?

If you're anything like most of the women we work with, the answer is: OFTEN! In this episode, we're examining some of the nuances behind this feeling.  Because, like many things in life, there's the problem you think you have, and then there's the problem.  We're approaching this episode as a follow up to last week's: Do, Delegate, Delete. (If you haven't listened to it yet, you can find it here.)  If you're like us, Do, Delegate, Delete sounds wonderful! Yet, implementation can be a different beast... So this week, we're examining some subconscious drivers or beliefs that may be getting in the way.  We're discussing: Commitment, Boundaries, Resentment, Overcommitment, Control, Insecurity, Avoidance, Priorities and Prioritizing them, Creating a commitment list, and a sneaky Energy Suck that may be getting in the way.     Woo! This is a full one! Let's dive in and explore!

  11. 28

    Ep 28: Do, Delegate, Delete

You've probably heard this phrase before... For those of you who are looking at what didn't work in 2021, For those of you who are looking at what you want to create in 2022, but aren't quite sure how to get there, For those of you who are IN IT and saying, "Ummm, this isn't sustainable", THIS EPISODE IS FOR YOU!   Do: What do You Have to do?  (Two very important words there...) Delegate: What can you hand off to others?  Delete: What can you get rid of completely?    We promise, each of those can be implemented in your day to day.

Pros and Cons of Starting Something New - Pt 2!

Last week, Kellie discussed the pros and cons of starting her new health related routine - a physical undertaking. How many of you resonate with what she shared? This week, Lindsey is sharing the pros and cons of starting her new endeavor - and it's little more...abstract.  More creative. Any time we undertake a new thing, we're going to find pros and cons - costs and rewards - and they aren't always the same things.  The confidence or the challenges may change depending on the undertaking.  Some aspects makes be easier than others...how do you navigate that? For Lindsey, the biggest challenge has revealed some interesting patterns: She is very uncomfortable when things are 'easy' for her.  Con: She manufactures a struggle - a bit of an addiction to struggle and being on the struggle bus. Have you heard a voice in your head telling you 'it's not ok for something to be easy'? A pro: leaning into creativity for fun has created more creativity in business.  Another pro: using creativity for good (writing) versus evil (anxiety and worry). One thing to consider: When you say yes to one thing, what are you saying no to? Another thing to consider: How long have you been contemplating this activity? What's causing the resistance that's keeping you from starting? The biggest pro AND con of starting any new thing: Recognizing the patterns! And we promise: You're ok. It's ok. You're ok.    Shout Outs: Jill Renee Stevens!  Insta: iamthejoyfulwriter FB Group Mentioned: Write Your Book Already! with Jill R. Stevens

Pros and Cons of Starting Something New - Part 1

It's January! Perhaps you've found yourself starting a new Health routine. Kellie is sharing in this episode her journey with her new health routine. And like anything, there are - costs and benefits - pros and cons - costs and rewards.    Take a listen and see if you resonate with any of it. And hopefully you'll take away something useful that will help you on your journey too!

  14. 25

Have You Fully Considered How Your Health Is Impacting Your Life?

Hello hello friends! We're here, we're still in January, and we're still taking a look at those common thoughts that come with this time of year: Gotta get fit! Gotta get healthy! New Year, New Me!  Now, we're a fan of those first two...but how about New Year, Best Me instead? ...but that's a totally different topic... This week we're diving into our Health Science pillar - health tends to be top of mind this time of year. Have you fully considered how your health is impacting your life? Have you fully considered how the words you use, subconsciously, are impacting your health? In this moment, right now, how are you taking care of your health? We want to say this upfront: This episode is NOT about shame or guilt or judgement - so please, let go of that, put the defenses down, and listen with an open heart and mind.  As Kellie said, 'Stop worrying about what you haven't done - let's focus on what you can do Now.' Are you willing to take a step back and honestly assess where you're at with your health? Lindsey shares a few facts and numbers facing America right now - are you one of them? For example: 1 in 5 Americans are diabetic; 1 in 3 Americans are pre-diabetic but don't know it. What is it costing you to not take an honest look at where you're at with your health? And what are you gaining by doing so? Kellie shares a bit about why she AVOIDED doing a new type of exercise and what helped her decide to make the change anyway.  Take note of the energy and thoughts behind what you're doing or not doing. How is your level of self love or self respect being reflected in the things you do or don't do? What are you committed to? Circumstances or Possibility? Anger or Joy? Reframe from a Doing mindset to a Being mindset. If there's something in here that you'd like some help with Reach Out! We're here to just that! Have You Set Your 2022 Intentions? Here‘s a new way to approach ‘resolutions‘.

Happy New Year!!  It's the first new 2022 Podcast!  This week we're opening up and sharing our Intentions for 2022.  We're getting vulnerable here!  We know that the work we do requires vulnerability, so we're walking our talk in this episode.  What does '2022 Intentions' mean?  Intentions are a little different than 'resolutions'. Resolutions can bring this feeling of force, constriction, restriction, or even shame or guilt. Intentions are a more powerful, expansive approach.   We're also guessing that our intentions may be a little different than the types of 'resolutions' you're used to hearing...   Things you'll hear in this podcast: The intentions you set - they don't have to be physical, doing goals. Lindsey's intention for 2022: Letting Go.  Kellie's intention for 2022: Trusting Myself.  Plus, we're looking at the *many opportunities in our lives* we will have to navigate these intentions. What is Your Purpose? How do you know what it is?

This week we're leaning into our Mindset Magic/Spiritual side with a topic that came up during our September Retreat and gave quite a lot of people pause.  What's my purpose? How do I know what it is?  ...what if it's not actually that complicated...?   Our theory: It's less about going out and looking for it, and more about going in and examining your strengths and joys.    In this episode we also explore the connection between confidence and competence; seasons of purpose; what brings you joy; letting go of the expectation of something being your purpose. What if your purpose is simply to follow your joy? ...And allow your natural gifts to shine through?   Special shout out this episode: Jim Fortin! Social Media - the place where you can go to really gain insights. ...perhaps in a different way than you think...   We saw a meme recently - one we had seen years ago - that has resurfaced. And it had many, many, many reactions. People clearly resonated with it.  So we thought it would be interesting and helpful to unpack here.    What do you think? Was this a helpful catalyst? Plus, we're sharing a couple of our own personal experiences and lessons with Reiki.    Reiki: a Japanese form of energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety, with the goal of directing energy to help facilitate your own personal healing response by placing hands on or slightly above specific spots of the body.

    How Do You Start?

Inspired by Kellie's newsletter, 'How do you begin a Pilates practice?', we've adapted it for a wider audience: How Do You Start a Movement Practice? In this episode, we're discussing the best ways to BEGIN. We also talk a lot about industry practices, some good, some super confusing, and some outright not helpful ones.  Topics of discussion in this episode: When beginning, most people question whether they'll be able to do XYZ (Pilates, Circuit Class, whatever new practice), and Lindsey asks: What causes you to ask that?  What experiences have you had in the past that you're bringing with you to now? The general fitness industry is not well designed or set up for meeting the true beginning beginner where they are at, and most apps, video, and subscriptions don't cater to the true beginner.  That is why we highly recommend One on One Training. If that's not an option for you, make sure you do your due diligence.  Ask people you know, you trust, and who know you for recommendations. Check in with yourself about what you want out of work outs and what do you naturally enjoy doing. Have you looked into Duo options versus single one on one? Many people find accountability and support going this route. It provides that special attention and customized experience, but with a social aspects. The same goes for Virtual Live options that exists now. Work out from the comfort of you home with a trainer from anywhere, and still get that customized or personalized workout made for what your body needs. We discuss the standard numbers in health: 150 minutes of moderate cardio exercise each week; 2 strength training sessions per week. What does that mean? Plus, a breakdown of that that usually blows people's minds.  Quality versus Quantity. Last but not least, we discuss the importance of getting honest with yourself about where you're starting at.  If you're interested in working with Kellie or Lindsey one on one, or joining one of their classes: Instagram: @Kellie_Pilates; Facebook: Kellie Franks Instagram: Coach_Lindsey_Schwahn; Facebook: Lindsey Schwahn Fitness

Doing the ‘Hard Things‘ - Is It Hard or Is It Inconvenient?

We're guessing, if you're anything like us, you've done hard things, right? You are more than capable of doing hard things. But are you making those things harder than they need to be? Whether you're starting a new exercise routine, starting a new job, or, perhaps like a us, you're starting a new podcast. There are ways we often make these experiences harder than they need to be. There are also ways we can make the process easier!  That's what we're diving into today: Is it hard or inconvenient? What's your Why? What's your motivation? What are you expectations? How much do you avoid doing until you can get it 'right'? Where in your life are you letting the idea of something being 'hard' stop you from doing the thing?  Overwhelm is a choice - which makes it harder! How often are you focused on the outcome, the whole picture, versus the next best step? The 50lbs or the next meal? The 3 day drive or the next gas tank fill up? Are you stopping and Smellibrating your wins along the way? You can do hard things, but it doesn't mean you have to make them harder! End the self-suffering! Mention: Rich Litvin

Anyone heard of Manifestation? How about Law of Attraction? Or 'The Secret'? The brain will give you proof of what you're looking for.  ...that's where the magic meets the science... Perhaps there's one that you've always had a fear of? Do you see certain animals all the time? Or maybe you simply feel a strong connection with the animals on our planet. If so, take a listen. And leave a comment - let us know what animals you connect with! What's your biggest takeaway from this episode? And don't forget to share with those who may connect with this episode as well.

How much do you truly value your health?

In the line of work that we do, we often seen people when something is wrong or not working: back pain, mobility issues, trying to lose weight and exercise, or simply trying to make healthier choices.  When we find ourselves in these situations we'd give anything to 'fix it', but often times, it's our very lack of value we place on our health that got us into these situations in the first place.  In this episode we're exploring what it means to truly value your health and how we can implement that into our every day lives. Take a listen! And don't forget to subscribe, leave a comment and share with those you know will find value too!

How Your Brain Can Sabotage You

How often have you found yourself setting goals, or trying to create a new habit, or trying to break a habit, and not being able to complete that task? Yeah, us too.  It's very human. The brain creates habits to conserve energy and keep us alive.  Sometimes those habits are physical. Sometimes those habits are emotional. (Yes, you have emotional habits.) What habits have you programmed?  What habits have you not programmed? (Are you in the Habit of NOT doing something that would be helpful?) Take a listen to learn how an easier way to create new habits in a way that works naturally with your brain and the way it works.   If you want to learn more about this topic, dive deeper into this, and work through this WITH US - make sure to join us for our upcoming Hijack Your Brain to Create the Habits You Want workshop on Friday, August 27.
