Taneele shares how her faith and past experiences, including incarceration, shaped her journey to sobriety.     Episode 9: Laura Carr, Lexington Rescue Mission

    As Executive Director of the Lexington Rescue Mission, Laura Carr is in an unique, close-up position to witness to those suffering on the streets of Lexington.  A mission begun by her parents in 2001, Laura is continuing her family's faith work in witnessing and bringing help to those suffering.  Starting in September of 2024, the Lexington Rescue Mission and Isaiah House teamed up to begin offering behavioral health and primary care to those greatest in need in Lexington with the Isaiah House Community Health Center.  IHCHC is a groundbreaking model for healthcare that puts services where it's most needed - for the Lexington Rescue Mission clients and the 40508 neighborhood - where the average lifespan is 11 years shorter than the rest of Lexington.

    Episode 8: Testimony, Christina Callahan & Dianne

    In this episode of Recovery Matters, we hear the inspiring stories of Christina Callahan and Dianne. Christina, an Isaiah House graduate, overcame homelessness and found hope in recovery. Today, she serves as a kitchen assistant, using her journey to uplift others. Dianne shares her battle with addiction from a young age and how, through faith and perseverance, she is working to overcome her past and build a brighter future.

    Episode 7: Carl Varney, Operation UNITE

    Carl Varney is Area Prevention Coordinator and Expansion Coordinator with Operation UNITE and if you have a child in the 5th Congressional District of Kentucky he has probably spoken at your child's school.  A person in long term recovery, Carl has worked for UNITE for 12 years working with prevention programs with kids in Eastern Kentucky and his infectuous personality and humor connects with kids in a way few can.  In this episode hosted by Brian Privett, Carl talks about the UNITE programs and how his mission is helping the next generation of Kentucky kids.

    Tara Hyde is a woman of many labels.  As CEO of People Advocating in Recovery, she has multiple degrees, is an executive, an advocate, policymaker, and champion for people in recovery.  Tara is in the mix of every issue touching substance use, harm reduction, and recovery in Kentucky at the state and local levels.  She is also a person in long-term recovery.  This episode's interview with Brian is wide ranging, full of information from someone in the know, and like Tara, friendly and fun.  Enjoy!
