Hebrews 2:10-13
Pastor Geoff AshleyJune 2025A word of clarification: "In this sermon, I was attempting to explain the concept that Christ is not ashamed of His siblings (“he is not ashamed to call them brothers”). This is at least in part due to the fact that He has sanctified them (“he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified”). That is, he set them apart and consecrated them for service. So when Christ sings the praises of God in the assembly (“in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise”), He is singing, at least in part, about God’s work in His people to rescue and redeem them from sin and slavery. However, in the sermon, it might have sounded like I was saying that Christ is singing the praises of His people rather than the praises of His Father. At best I left the door open for misunderstanding and apologize for any potential confusion. For the sake of clarification, Christ is singing the praises of His Father and those praises include rejoicing in the particular work that He has accomplished among His people. - Geoff Ashley
