Reformed Affections
by Tom Hallett
Reformed affectionsWhat do I mean when I say affections? I mean the inclinations of the soul, but to unpack that further we are talking about the things we love, hate, fear etc. that ultimately guides how we use our "will".The affections we are born with are sinfully twisted, the things we love, and hate are skewed and the things we fear also. They need to be reformed in a godly manner to make us fit subjects of God's kingdom. The soul with reformed affections seeks after God, loves God and His word. It is a soul that fears God and loves His holiness, enjoys His benevolence.May God grant us all a reformation of our affections, Amen.

Psalm 117: Sing to The Lord in praise
All nations, peoples, tribes. Every continent, no one is excluded from the universal call to praise and recognition of the true Holy God who offers true deliverance from daily struggles and ultimately from eternal damnation. We receive each day, Christians and all those who hate the truth of God material provisions. Christian's share a delight in the true spiritual feast of the gospel also, wherein God has supplied us all things for an abundant spiritual life and fellowship not only in the common faith but also in the fellowship with the God. Recognizing this fundamental truth of Christianity that we have been delivered from sin and given unto God for holy communion in the grace of Christ let us all sing praise to Him.

Psalm 11: In God we trust
In this Psalm we cover the topic of trusting in God despite the ungodly counsel that surrounds us daily that would have us place our trust in the things of this world and not in the Lord who is able and willing to deliver. The wicked have set themselves continually against God and against righteous counsel and action, the saints must be on guard to defend themselves against this usurpation of God's rule in our lives. Let us continue to trust in God, knowing that Christ has freed us from our sin and the clutches of the evil one, let us cling to Christ eternally.

Psalm 8: Divine Adoration
This Psalm is a great Psalm of David, it contains 9 verses that exalt God's name in adoration, pure adoration. There is an acronym for structuring prayer that I believe is very helpful, ACTS. ACTS stands for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication. We life God up in adoration, exalting His name before we confess our sins before Him. Recognizing our sinfulness and His excellence we thank God for His continued mercy and grace that is continually poured over us and finally end in asking of Him what we require. This Psalm provides a fantastic framework for the Adoration part of our prayers and devotions, His divine glory, use of weak people, creator and sustainer of all creation, divine providence and His placing of mankind as stewards over all of creation.

Psalm 1 Part 2: The wicked perish.
The wicked will perish. The wicked people of this world are like chaff, dust driven by the whirlwind of God's judgment and devoured in the fire. Christian's on the other hand have our foundation upon Christ himself and rest firmly in His righteousness to the saving of our souls. God's judgment on sin will be poured out on the day of judgment, the wicked will do nothing but melt like wax in the furnace of justice.
