Remedy Stories

We continue our conversation with Cat Hewett learning how missions and teaching led her to a position at Grace International School in Thailand. She shares some the challenges and joys of living in a foreign country, and then her story finding she had cancer. Cat talks about the role of Remedy in her life today while she lives overseas.

In this episode we sit down with Cat Hewett, who is one of the early members of Remedy but currently she lives overseas the majority of the year.   She serves as science teacher at Grace International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She shares about her upbringing into her early years of her career into some of Remedy Church’s early years.

Our story with Nathan and Brooke continue as they share how they came out of the hardest season in their marriage  and what they’ve learned from that. We see how they used that season to intentionally point themselves and in turn others to the gospel in the other areas of their life, including direct ministry through their family, work, and Remedy Church.

We meet with Nathan and Brooke Daves this time. They serve as missional community leaders and Nathan is one of our lay elders at Remedy Church. We get into their background as they grew up in very different homes in DFW, and met on a mission trip while  in college.  They openly share their first years of marriage with its struggles and pain which led to a poor choice. Through that, they sought God's grace, chose forgiveness, and came out refined on the other side more in love with Jesus.

As they enter marriage, Dan and Leslie are faced with a breast cancer diagnosis. They also share about finding Remedy Church and God's faithfulness through Leslie suffering a stroke.

Dan and Leslie talk about their upbringings, both in catholic homes. Dan shares about how his young years were spent in wandering and searching for the truth, and Leslie speaks to making her way through medical school as a single parent.

We continue our conversation with Christina first talking about the good, but sometimes hard things, when working through church family situations. She shares how the accountability and spiritual feeding of the Remedy family means so much to her.

We sit down with Christina Sheppard and hear her background. She shares her stories of family, the ups and downs, and how that has affected her.  She shares how Remedy supported her through some hard things when she first came around, and how she was at a point in her life desperate to know who God was.

Becca continues her story and how she had to heal and work through her past. She recognizes how God had to do this, and she could not do this within her own strength. 

We sit down with Becca Webb who has been at Remedy for a number of years. She shares her upbringing with her family. The good and some of the really hard things she experienced through death and being hurt by others. She shares the reality of still believing in God and processing her relationship with Him as she was running and finding strength within her own self.

We continue with Bryan sharing how as an adult he came to faith while serving in a church. The impact of solid biblical preaching and deep relationships were significant to him coming to faith as an adult. Bryan meets Gina and quickly they serve overseas with three young children on the mission field. We hear about some early days at Remedy and we ask them some specific questions on how it is to serve in ministry and its impact on their family.

We continue the podcast as we talk with Remedy elder Bryan Wooten and his lovely wife Gina. We continue our Remedy Stories format hearing their upbringing and how faith looked in their home growing up. Gina shares as a young woman being single and the struggles she had in that season in her life. Bryan shares growing up in the church, but would say he had a religious veneer in his life as he pursued worldly gain for many years.

Chad and Andrew sit down and talk about the podcast. They talk about what is the purpose of the podcast and what they are hoping to convey. They share a couple of quick stories of what has been encouraging to them, and what to expect with the next season.

In part 2 with the George and Lauren Bunting we hear about the early years of marriage. They share some tragic and difficult circumstances and how it has impacted them spiritually. 

This week we sit down with George and Lauren Bunting in their home.  They each share their upbringing in the church and how faith turned their life around at specific times as children and then again as young adults.

We continue the conversation with Ethan. We talk more with him about being a young single man and how his faith plays out in our current culture and the church.

Ethan Hosiner is our guest this week. He is currently Remedy’s  church intern. He shares what it was like growing up in a Christian family at Remedy while in high school.

In part 2 with Grayson and Michelle, we pick right up in the middle of where Michelle is in her story of high school dealing with family tragedy. We see how God continues to rescue her and give her comfort through various difficulties. They share some difficulties in their early years of marriage and how Re|engage at Remedy helped them work through the problem of having unmet expectations in their marriage.

In this first part of talking with Grayson and Michelle Haye we hear how they serve Remedy Church as deacons and are involved in the city of Waxahachie. We learn how they come to faith growing up. Michelle shares some hard things within her family and how God gave her strength in those days.

In this second part we continue talking to the Johnsons about their first years of marriage where they share some deep struggles that Philip was going through and how that impacted them. They share how family, blood and church, were there for them to help during a hard season. Beth talks about the how Remedy serves specifically families with children who have special needs.

We sit down with Philip and Beth Johnson, and hear how they serve faithfully in Remedy kids and other roles within the church. They tell us their unique journey on how they ended up at Remedy. They tell us about their early years of marriage which includes Philip coming to faith as an adult.

Colten and Katie talk about the struggles of being in a long distance relationship, what the first couple years of marriage has been like, and how they see God using them in their jobs as educators.
