Discussion Questions:What does the Transfiguration reveal about who Jesus really is, especially compared to Moses and Elijah? Can you think of any times where someone has reached out a hand to help you stand? Do you have experiences of God doing this for you? How might God be inviting you to reach out a hand to help someone else stand this week? Mark 8:27-38 | Katie Twitchett

Mark 8:27-38This week we focus on Jesus' question to His disciples: "who do you say that I am?" and, ultimately, Peter's confession of Jesus as the Christ. What does it mean for Jesus to be the Christ? How might it look different to what they had been expecting? Discussion Questions:Why do you think the disciples struggled so much with the idea of a suffering messiah? Do you also struggle with this idea?Is there a situation in your life right now where following Jesus might require laying something down? How can you be with Jesus in the midst of that situation, so as to become more like him? Grow with us:seedlingchurch.ca[email protected] (604) 853-5821If you would like to contribute financially to Seedling Church and it's ministries (including this podcast), e-transfers can be sent to:[email protected] Church exists to glorify God, being rooted in the Word, growing together in Christ’s love, and planting seeds of hope in our neighbourhood, city, and all the world.

Mark 3:1-6: "Do Not Harden Your Hearts"This week Katie reflects on Jesus’ anger and grief in Mark 3 as He confronts hardened hearts and heals a man on the Sabbath. We’re invited to examine where fear of losing power, control, prestige or influence may harden our own hearts and to respond to Jesus’ invitation to stretch out our hands to him, and keep our hearts tender.Discussion Questions:Do you tend to think of Jesus as an emotional person? Why or why not? Are there any areas of your heart that may have grown hard? How so? And how might God be calling you to soften?Grow with us:seedlingchurch.ca[email protected] (604) 853-5821If you would like to contribute financially to Seedling Church and it's ministries (including this podcast), e-transfers can be sent to:[email protected] Church exists to glorify God, being rooted in the Word, growing together in Christ’s love, and planting seeds of hope in our neighbourhood, city, and all the world.

    Acts 3:1-10 | Roger Huizinga

Acts 3:1-10What role does faith play in miracles? Why does it seem that we must participate through faith to experience personal miracles? Roger Huizinga returns to continue where he left off in the book of Acts, looking at the miraculous story of the Apostle Peter and the lame man.Grow with us:seedlingchurch.ca[email protected] (604) 853-5821If you would like to contribute financially to Seedling Church and it's ministries (including this podcast), e-transfers can be sent to:[email protected] Church exists to glorify God, being rooted in the Word, growing together in Christ’s love, and planting seeds of hope in our neighbourhood, city, and all the world.

    Mark 2:1-17 | Katie Twitchett

Mark 2:1-17This week, continuing in the Gospel of Mark, Katie dives into the the forgiveness of sins that comes with the arrival of the Kingdom of God. In this portion of scripture Jesus forgives the sins of a man. Is this the outrageous work of a mere man as the pharisees suppose or does Jesus actually carry God's authority to forgive?Discussion Questions:As Christians we believe that Jesus' death on the cross has paid for our sins, once for all, and that we have been justified by God, through faith and not works, and stand before God cleansed of all unrighteousness because of the blood of Christ. Considering this truth, do you think living a life of ongoing confession and repentance as followers of Jesus is important? Why or why not?  Do your prayers of confession tend to be more general, as in “God forgive my sins” or do you get more specific, honestly allowing God to bring conviction to your heart, and specific actions, words, attitudes, or omissions, pouring them out before God, and allowing him to heal and cleanse those areas? What difference, if any, do you think this kind of detailed confession would make in your life? Grow with us:seedlingchurch.ca[email protected] (604) 853-5821If you would like to contribute financially to Seedling Church and it's ministries (including this podcast), e-transfers can be sent to:[email protected] Church exists to glorify God, being rooted in the Word, growing together in Christ’s love, and planting seeds of hope in our neighbourhood, city, and all the world.

    Mark 1:21-45 | Katie Twitchett

Mark 1:21-45As we walk through the ministry of Jesus as told by the gospel of Mark, Katie Twitchett digs deeper into what it means to be a disciple as was understood in Jesus' day - to follow so closely the steps of your Rabbi that you become covered in the dust that He kicks up, learning in a hands on manner.Discussion Questions:What is a major life lesson (or skill, etc) that you learned through hands-on experience that you wouldn’t have learned otherwise? In Mark 1, the disciples observe Jesus demonstrating his authority, showing compassion, and withdrawing to pray. Of these characteristics of Jesus and his ministry which one speaks to you most right now? How so? How could you practice being with, and becoming like Jesus in the characteristic you chose from above this week?WEEKLY CHALLENGE: Make a measurable, attainable and practical plan for the above mentioned practice.

    Mark 1:14-20 | Katie Twitchett

Mark 1:14-20Continuing in our Mark series, Katie brings us a message based on the same message that Jesus preached at the beginning of His ministry as He called His disciples: "Repent and believe the good news!" Katie digs into what it really means to repent as Jesus calls us to do.Discussion Questions:Peter’s instinct was “Go away from me, Lord,” but Jesus’ response was “Do not be afraid.” Have you ever had a similar experience in your relationship with God? How so?  What could it look like for you to move toward Jesus this week? WEEKLY CHALLENGE: Practice a simple breath prayer (example: “Come Holy Spirit, have your way”) this week, first thing in the morning, and throughout the day when you think of it.Grow with us:seedlingchurch.ca[email protected] (604) 853-5821If you would like to contribute financially to Seedling Church and it's ministries (including this podcast), e-transfers can be sent to:[email protected] Church exists to glorify God, being rooted in the Word, growing together in Christ’s love, and planting seeds of hope in our neighbourhood, city, and all the world.

    Acts 1:1-11 | Roger Huizinga

Acts 1:1-11Viewing the book of Acts as a sequel to the gospels, Roger brings us a message about what it means to be a witness of Christ in His resurrection through the power of the Holy Spirit.Discussion Questions:Have you ever changed your mind about something after having been given convincing proof? What did that look like? What convincing proof of Jesus being alive and at work have you experienced personally in your own story?Where might the Holy Spirit be calling you to share these with others this week?Grow with us:seedlingchurch.ca[email protected] (604) 853-5821If you would like to contribute financially to Seedling Church and it's ministries (including this podcast), e-transfers can be sent to:[email protected] Church exists to glorify God, being rooted in the Word, growing together in Christ’s love, and planting seeds of hope in our neighbourhood, city, and all the world.

Makaela challenges us to rethink the way we view our time in the "wilderness" and to make the most of it.Discussion Questions:Have you experienced Jesus redeeming something in your life to the point that you no longer see it in a negative light? What has been your experience with the ‘wilderness’?Is there a time each day this week (either specific hour/minute or schedule slot) that you can commit to spending time in silence(ish) and solitude?Grow with us:seedlingchurch.ca[email protected] (604) 853-5821If you would like to contribute financially to Seedling Church and it's ministries (including this podcast), e-transfers can be sent to:[email protected] Church exists to glorify God, being rooted in the Word, growing together in Christ’s love, and planting seeds of hope in our neighbourhood, city, and all the world.
