    Wise Counsel and Good Therapy

Dear Selfless Esteem, Lately I've been disgruntled seeing therapists put on pedestals when they've given unwise guidance. I believe the Bible is the Ultimate Truth & authority over any degree. I have gone to Christian therapists, who have guided me against what the Bible says. I have friends who think the degree gives therapists the ultimate source of wisdom with life and relationships. I see them as humans who come with their own life experiences and perspectives as well. How does one decipher wise counsel? Signed, Therapist Trouble Tune in for the answer. How to Handle When Your Child Favors the Other Parent

Dear Selfless Esteem, My 2.5-year-old daughter prefers her dad / my husband over me. I thought it was just a phase, but it's been this way for over a year. I'm her primary caregiver but he's home often. I make sure to play with her, and I'm the only one to take her on outings like the library and such, but when she gets upset or hurt, she only wants dada for comfort. She wants to leap out of my arms to him always. It makes me so sad. Why is this happening? He's such an incredible dad but I wish she wanted us equally. How To Handle an Ungrateful Friend

Dear Selfless Esteem, I have a lifelong friend who seems more & more ungrateful & cold hearted. For years I've been there for her by encouraging & listening & helping her out financially when I didn't have much myself. She had similar beliefs but now snaps at me whenever I bring up God or the Bible. She gets mad over any & everything. Religious Trauma: The Devastating Effects and How to Heal

Dear Selfless Esteem, I think I'm a victim of religious trauma because I'm such a perfectionist. I've been this way since I was a child, and although there's some things I'm grateful for in my upbringing, religion isn't one of them. Whenever something bad would happen to me, a church leader or a church member would say God's punishing me for some unconfessed sin.
