Moving Bravely with Chanté Dent
In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month - SAAPM, episodes during April highlight the stories of survivors of a crime that impacts every fiber of a human being. I will lead by sharing one of my journal writings about my story. (Trigger Warning) In 2007, I became a Certified Rape Crisis Counselor, and in 2015 I founded a non-profit that supported victims and survivors on their healing journey. It was my way of helping others overcome what I had experienced. It also helped me in ways I did not foresee. As a RAINN's speakers bureau member, I share my story to educate, encourage, and inspire. Over the years, I've learned how "complicated' our experiences can be and how those "complications" can intensify the trauma. Indeed, some might not understand how the trauma affects the victim/survivor. Often, the victim/survivor does not fully understand how the trauma affects them, short-term and long-term. If you are a victim, getting the help you need is one of the bravest steps you can take, and it is also one of the most difficult. I hope that you will treat the trauma and process the pain (any trauma/any pain). You deserve to live a fulfilled life. You deserve to heal, love, and live again! Moving Bravely with Analee Vinyard
Losing her mother at 15, Analee Vinyard’s life changed dramatically. Forced into a loveless marriage at 18, Analee, like her mother before her, tried to make the most of the brutal situation, conforming to the will of her husband and the in-laws through years of suffering and abuse. The neglect of her husband and the growing vitriol of his family took a terrible toll on Analee physically, emotionally, and spiritually. There seemed to be no light at the end of the tunnel. Recalling her mother’s faith, Analee turned to Jesus- to survive. Analee’s story is one of faith’s triumph over tragedy, the sufficiency of God’s grace and strength in our weakness, and the discovery of His overwhelmingly tender love. When Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith enters in, tragedy, grief, and brokenness will not have the last word. Today, happily remarried, Analee embraces the legacy of her mother, Alma, following in her footsteps, ministering encouragement and hope to others. Connect with Analee Vinyard: www.analeevinyard.com
