5-14-26 - AVS WIN GAME 5 IN OT, PUNCH THEIR TICKET TO WESTERN CONFERENCE FINAL

You guessed it. Today's entire Appetizer Hour is about one thing and one thing only: the Colorado Freakin Avalanche beating the Minnesota Wild in Game 5, winning the series, and punching their ticket back to the Western Conference Final for the first time since 2022.0:00 - What a comeback for the Avs! They immediately went down 3-0 in the first period, tied it late in the 3rd period with quick back-to-back goals, forced OT, when won it in OT. My goodness. That game was anything but pretty, but all that matters is the final score. Happy Trails, Minnesota Wild!14:51 - Mackenzie Blackwood started in net, got shelled for 3 goals in the first period, so Bednar pulled him and went with Wedgewood the rest of the way. And it worked. After the game, Bedsie said the abysmal start was everyone's fault. It wasn't just Blackwood. It was everyone around him too. Also, the Avs are proving in these playoffs that they can win every type of game: high-scoring, low-scoring, physical, slow, fast, you name it. You know which teams have that kind of versatility? Championship teams. 31:21 - You'd better root for Anaheim and Vegas to go 7 games. The Avs need all the rest they can get right now! We need guys like Lehky and Malinski back for the next round. After that, Nathan MacKinnon caught up with the TNT crew after the game and answered the two burning questions on everyone's minds: how's his nose, and why was he swimming in a hotel pool with flippers?

  2. 224

    5-13-26 - Still can't believe McCarron/Broncos @ Chiefs to start the year/Rockies got Skenes'd

0:00 - Here we are 2 days later, and Brett still can't that Michael McCarron did what he did in Game 4. Hockey is the only sport in the WORLD where the players are not only allowed to police themselves, but it's encourages and ALLOWED. And yet, he spent the whole game flopping and yapping at the refs. That's certianly a choice.15:21 - The Broncos will start the year by playing the Chiefs on Monday Night Football...on the road...in KC. Is that a disrespectful move? The Broncos were within spitting distance of the Super Bowl, and yet they didn't earn a home game in Week 1? That doesn't feel right.32:08 - The Rockies an into an immovable object last night named Paul Skenes. That guy is unbelievable.

  3. 223

5-12-26 - Avs win Game 4 decisively/"Dirty" Josh Manson/Mack takes puck to the nose, Broncos-Chiefs MNF

0:00 - ONE. MORE. WIN. That's all the Avs need to punch their ticket to the Western Conference Final. They beat the Wild last night in Game 4 and looked COMPLETELY different from Game 3. Much improved. Way more focused & bought in. 14:51 - Josh Manson got in a scuffle with Michael McCarron last night. He rammed his stick into the side of McCarron's head/neck area. DURING THE GAME, in an intermission interview, McCarron said Manson's a dirty player. Again, he said that DURING THE GAME. That's crazy! He doubled down on the dirtiness in his postgame comments. And honestly. GOOD. You need a pest that gets in your opponent's head.31:21 - MacKinnon caught a slapshot right in the face. Stopped that puck with his nose. Next period, he was back in the game. Even got the game-sealing empty-net goal. Hockey players are truly built different. After that, we learned today that the first Monday Night Football game of the season is scheduled for September 14 between...the Broncos and the Chiefs! Hell yeah, brother. What a way to start the season. But, Brett said this is an indication of something larger...

  4. 222

5-11-26 - Avs fall flat in Game 3/Nuggets End of the Season presser/How will the Avs respond?

0:00 - Well, it's not gonna be a 2nd round sweep for the Avs. They fell flat in Game 3 and lost to the Wild 5-1. Why did the Avs play so poorly? What was the cause?16:31 - On Friday, the Nuggets held their End of the Season press conference at Ball Arena. Josh Kroenke, David Adelman, Jon Wallace, and Ben Tenzer all addressed the media. What did they have to say about the disappointing end to Denver's season, and more importantly, what happens next?32:34 - The Avs lost Game 3. No need to panic yet! It's playoff hockey. Minnesota is a good team. So, how will the Avs respond tonight? If Minnesota evens the series at 2-2 heading back to Denver, will you be concerned?

  5. 221

5-08-26 - Can the Wild win Game 3?/Nuggets End of Year Presser/Hastings thinks Brett's stupid

0:00 - Do the Wild have a snowball's chance in hell of winning tonight? How could they do it? If you're in that Wild locker room trying to rally the boys to a Game 3 victory over the Avs, what are you saying?14:24 - Did you watch the Carolina vs Philly game last night? Was there any hockey actually played? All we say was the tornado of fists that flew all game long. After that, the Nuggets End of the Year Presser is at 11am today at Ball Arena. Ben Tenzer, Jon Wallace, Josh Kroenke, and David Adelman will all address the media. What do you want to hear from the Nuggets Brain Trust today?31:46 - Yesterday on PHD, Scott Hastings disagreed with one of Brett's Nuggets takes. Today, Brett offered up his rebuttal.

  6. 220

5-07-26 - Biggest Avs concern right now?/Draymond Green vs Charles Barkley/Outkast rules, Rockies suck

0:00 - STRAW POLL: What's your biggest concern with the Avs right now. And you can't say health/injuries. That's a given. Aside from that. And yes, you have to pick a concern. That's how the game works.15:13 - Draymond Green tried to roast Charles Barkley on Inside the NBA last night, and the joke fell flat. You're not Shaq, Draymond. You can't make those same jokes. Draymond might be the least self aware athlete in the sporting world right now.32:09 - Outkast rules. That's all. (for context, I bumped back from commercial with "ATLiens")After that, you know what's the opposite of Outkast? The Rockies. They suck again. They've lost 6-straight, and they're on the verge of getting swept by the Mets. The lowly Mets. Today, they need to steal 1 win and get off the schneid.

  7. 219

5-06-26 - Avs Win Game 2 vs Wild/Moser's exchange with an old lady/Hate-watching OKC-Lakers, Avs improvements

0:00 - The Avs ONLY scored 5 goals last night?? Wow, what a snoozefest. The Avalanche won Game 2 vs the Wild last night, and they'll take a 2-0 series lead back to Minnesota. That was AWESOME. That Avalanche team looks legit. They genuinely haven't looked this good since 2022.15:53 - Moser drew the short straw last night. So Altitude TV stuck him outside in the snow to do live hits in front of Ball Arena. A sweet old lady walked by him, and Moser chose and interesting phrase to say to her.32:28 - In addition to the Avs game, Brett hate-watched Lakers vs Thunder Game 1. Brett's not rooting for the Lakers because he's an American, dammit. But, OKC can't just roll through this series willy-nilly, man. Even without Luka, the Lakers can't just roll over and die, man! After that, what adjustments did the Avs make between Games 1 and 2?

  8. 218

5-05-26 - Avs vs Wild Game 2 preview/Jokic's legacy, CB was playing hurt/Awkward media exchange in Toronto

0:00 - The Avs and Wild will face off tonight in Round 2, Game 2. It PROBABLY won't look like game 1. Don't bet on a 9-goal explosion from the Avs. So, what WILL the game look like?14:48 - It's ridiculous how many national pundits are trying to tear down Jokic based on this year's first round exit. No matter what happened this year, it doesn't take anything away from his accomplishments. After that, Bennett Durando of the Denver Post said that Christian Braun tweaked his calf during the playoffs. He was dealing with that injury on top of lingering ankle issues. So, that begs the question again...WHY did the Nuggets spend the offseason acquiring depth then NOT USE THAT DEPTH?? What was the point of trading MPJ???32:53 - The Toronto Maple Leafs announced the hiring of their new GM yesterday. A reporter didn't like the hiring and wasted no time in making his feelings known at the presser.

  9. 217

5-04-26 - AVS EXPLODE FOR 9 GOALS/Takeaways from last night's Avs slugfest/Nugs will keep Adelman

0:00 - 15 goals in one game. Ah yes, business as usual for the playoffs. Your Avalanche started Round 2 with a BANG and dropped 9 goals on Minnesota's noggin in Game 1. But they also gave up 6 goals. How do we make sense of this crazy game?15:13 - How did Jared Bednar make heads or tails of this roller coaster of a game? What did he have to say in his postgame press conference?32:36 - According to both Bennett Durando and Shams, the Nuggets have no plans to move on from David Adelman. Is this a good move, or rather, lack of a move?

  10. 216

5-01-26 - Nugs choke in Game 6 & get bounced in Round 1/Where's the FIGHT??/Chris Finch's fake motivation

0:00 - Well, that's a wrap. It's another early exit for the Nuggets. This year, it was an even earlier exit than last year! So, now that the whole season is in the books, let's do an autopsy. What the hell happened??17:28 - Where was this team's FIGHT? Where was their MOTIVATION?? You couldn't rally to beat an injured, depleted Wolves team in an elimination game? What about all the times you got punked by Lu Dort this year? Clowned by Jaden McDaniels this series? No one stood up for this team when it mattered most. Say what you will about guys like Russell Westbrook and Paul Millsap. They didn't take crap from anyone.35:00 - Chris Finch fabricated a fake narrative that isn't there in order to rally his team. And guess what? Fake or not, it worked. As a coach, you need to find motivation and a rallying cry anywhere you can. And he found it.

  11. 215

4-30-26 - What's at stake in Game 6/Dallas or Minnesota?/The Path of Least Resistance

0:00 - What's at stake for both the Timberwolves and Nuggets in Game 6? Aside from the season ending, potentially. If the Nuggets lose tonight, what's the conversation we're having tomorrow? If the Timberwolves lose tonight, they're probably losing Game 7 as well. So what's the conversation in Minnesota if they blow a 3-1 lead?14:46 - Game 6 of the Stars vs Wild series is in St. Paul tonight. Which team would you rather see the Avs face in the 2nd round? 31:34 - Brett's a weenie. He doesn't want his teams to have a tough path to a championship. The Path of Least Resistance is the one he wants. It doesn't matter how you get there as long as you get there. Brett isn't #BUILTDIFFERENT. He's built the same.

  12. 214

    4-29-26 - Bo Nix has ankle clean-up procedure/Game 6 preview, NBA anti-tanking rules/Bring back Von Miller?

0:00 - Did you hate-watch Minnesota vs Dallas last night? Brett did. We had nothing else to do. Let them fight! This series had better go 7!After that, Broncos news broke yesterday. From Ian Rapoport: Bo Nix had a "follow-up cleanup procedure" on his fractured ankle. He should be back in time for training camp, but don't be surprised if they take it easy with him in the spring, according to Rapoport. Supposedly, this is all pretty standard. But at which point do we start to worry about ankle issues? Especially for such a mobile QB. 14:25 - Now that the smoke has cleared and the State of Minnesota is no longer out for Vic's head, let's take a look at Game 6. Will the rabid home crowd help give the Timberwolves the boost they need to rattle off a win with the depleted roster? Also, the NBA is finally narrowing down a new plan to curb tanking. And stop me if you've heard this before...Brett STILL doesn't think it'll ACTUALLY fix tanking.33:49 - Luca "My name is Luca" Evans published an article yesterday about Von Miller wanting to return to the Broncos. But not on the roster. Clearly there's no room for him on the defense. Von wants to join the Broncos front office. Would that be a good fit for him?

  13. 213

    4-28-26 - Nugs win Game 5 & survive/Most important Nuggets takeaway/Biggest post-draft Broncos questions

0:00 - What do we say to the God of Death? Not today! The Nuggets won game 5 and stayed alive in the series vs Minnesota! They finally played with physicality and didn't let Jaden McDaniels do what Jaden McDaniels does. 15:12 - What's the most important takeaway from last night's Nuggets win? What's the one thing they need to carry over into Game 6 on Thursday?31:27 - Now that the NFL Draft is in the books, what needs to the Broncos still have? What are their biggest questions heading into the doldrums of the offseason?

  14. 212

4-27-26 - Nuggets in a 3-1 hole vs TWolves/Nugs punked by McDaniels AGAIN/Broncos Draft takeaways

0:00 - The Nuggets lost Game 4 to the Timberwolves, and they've been pushed to the brink of elimination. Minnesota lost 2 of their best players in that game, and the Nuggets still couldn't rally for a win. That was a tough look on Saturday night. Where's the fire? Where's the competitive spirit?15:19 - As if Denver's loss wasn't bad enough, Jaden McDaniels punked them AGAIN. At least Jokic got in his face about it this time.32:08 - The NFL Draft is in the books! Do we like the Broncos picks? How did the Law Firm of Payton and Paton do this year?

  15. 211

4-24-26 - Avs take 3-0 series lead over LA/Pathetic, embarrassing Nuggets loss/NFL Draft surprise

0:00 - Last night was a mixed bag, to put it lightly. Let's start with the good. Way to go AVS! The Colorado Wagon ROLLED over the Kings last night, and they're up 3-0 in the series. This thing is over. Just take care of business, complete the sweep, then rest up for the next round.15:20 - That was a pathetic effort from the Nuggets last night. Your opponent called you SOFT and NAMED NAMES! And you rolled over and died. You couldn't answer the bell. So much for "bulletin board material." That was embarrassing. We can't make heads or tails of this loss. We're flabbergasted. Do you want to win or not? 33:39 - The LA Rams made an interesting pick in the first round of the NFL Draft yesterday, and Sean McVay himself seemed a bit perplexed.

  16. 210

4-23-26 - Nugs respond to Jaden McDaniels/Avs are ready to POP in Game 3/Broncos Draft Wishlist

0:00 - Yesterday at shootaround, all the Nuggets were asked about Jaden McDaniels' fiery postgame comments about their defense (or the lack thereof). David Adelman had the only response that we liked. Everyone else was a bit too laissez faire for Brett's taste. The Nuggets should be fired up right now. It should be fuel. It should be bulletin board material. It should rally them to win. If it isn't...get ready for Cancun.14:28 - Brett can feel it...down in his plums...the Avalanche are gonna POP tonight in Game 3. They're ready to burst and unleash an, well, Avalanche of goals on the LA Kings.31:37 - Believe it or not, there's an NFL Draft tonight! Let's go back to Aqib Talib's comment that the Broncos might make a move on draft night. If that's the case, how would it shake out? It probably would happen tomorrow night, right? Which position will they target? It's gotta be a tight end, right?

  17. 209

4-22-26 - Last night's Avs game had EVERYTHING/Avs acquisitions stepped up/Crazy NBA playoffs

0:00 - Remember Stefon from SNL? Bill Hader's Weekend Update character? Well, last night's Avs game had everything: fights, weird penalties, broken glass, crazy saves, bad officiating, you name it. Whatever you wanted, you got it. In the end, the Avs won Game 2 to take a 2-0 series lead over LA. That's all that matters.15:17 - The Avs trade deadline aqcuisitions have been electric! Kulak, Roy, and Kadri are instantly contributing in the playoffs.32:26 - As crazy as the NHL playoffs have been, how about the NBA playoffs? The injured Lakers won AGAIN and took a 2-0 series lead over the Rockets! Wemby fell hard and slammed his head into the court. He's obviously concussed. How long will he have to recover before rejoining the Spurs?

  18. 208

4-21-26 - Nugs blow it to T-Wolves in Game 2/What went wrong for Nugs?/Confidence in the Avs

0:00 - The Nuggets had a double-digit lead over the Timberwolves. At home. In Ball Arena! And they blew it and lost Game 2. Boy, this is all too familiar. I feel like I've seen this movie before.15:06 - What went wrong for the Nuggets? How did things unravel so quickly?31:26 - Avs vs Kings game 2 is tonight. If anything should give you belief in the Avs, it's that LA had to play an almost perfect game on Sunday...and they still lost. They played their BUTTS off, played super physical, and roughed up the Avs all game long. And it wasn't enough.

  19. 207

4-20-26 - Avs win grimy game 1 vs Kings/Nugs win sloppy game 1 vs T-Wolves/Rockies are "cheating"

0:00 - Boy, that was a PHYSICAL game between the Avs and Kings. LA brought the boom. That's how it goes in the playoffs. The physicality always ratchets up. The Avs survived, and held on for the Game 1 win. And, stop me if you've heard this before...the Avalanche had a goal called off because of a  goaltender interference penalty that made zero sense whatsoever.14:54 - The Nuggets didn't play well for a full 48 minutes, but they sealed the deal for a Game 1 victory! After the game, Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch was crying aboul Jamal Murray's 16 free throws. Cool, Chris. Criticize a guy who's known for playing some of the most ethical basketball out there.32:03 - The Rockies beat the Dodgers in a professional baseball game! Wow! That's impossible, right? There's no way that could've happened! They must've been cheating. That's what Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing alleged (in a roundabout way) after the game on Saturday.

  20. 206

4-17-26 - Avs FINALLY have a playoff opponent/Nugs depend on depth & health/Take your opponent seriously

0:00 - Finally! 82 games in the books for every NHL team. That means the Avs FINALLY have a first round opponent! They'll face the LA Kings. That was Moser's first choice for an ideal matchup. LFG. Lock n load, boys.14:49 - The Nuggets' success hinges on 2 things: health and depth. You need your big guns to stay healthy, of course. But if someone goes down with an injury, this roster is stacked full of good backups. They've dealt with injuries the entire year. If, god forbid, a Nuggets starter gets hurt, can the bench carry them deep into the playoffs?31:21 - In sports, you're always supposed to take your opponent seriously. Don't overlook them, right? Well Brett's overlooking the Kings. There's no way the Avs lose in the first round. Let's skip to Round 2 and beat the Stars already. How about the Timberwolves? How much respect do we owe them?

  21. 205

4-16-26 - The Worst Trade in SPORTS History/Nathan MacKinnon with K&L/Cocky Anthony Edwards

0:00 - The Clippers lost to the Warriors in the Play-In Tournament last night. And with that loss, their 2026 first round draft pick becomes a lottery pick. And who owns the rights to the Clippers 2026 first round pick? THE OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER. Incredible. You can bring up Russell Wilson, DeShaun Watson, Herschel Walker, whatever. Doesn't matter. The OKC-Clippers SGA trade is now officially the WORST trade in all of sports history. Not NBA history. SPORTS history!14:36 - Tyson Barrie chilled in studio with Kreckman and Lindahl to promote his new beer Chilly Ones. And he brought a good friend of his with him. A man by the name of Nathan MacKinnon. Heard of him? Mack opened up just a tiny bit and showed a smidge of his personality! Nate (Kreckman) & Andy asked Nate (MacKinnon) the one question that's been burning in our minds for months: what the hell was up with that stuffed animal at the Olympics?31:25 - Anthony Edwards is cocky. Hot take alert, I know! And he's running his mouth a bit before the Nuggets and Timberwolves face off in Round 1. Brett says that's the key to beating Minnesota. Get in Ant's head. Rattle him. He's the head of the snake.

  22. 204

4-15-26 - Avs win AGAIN, 100pts for Marty Nachos/Thermostat issues, Media picking Nugs/Stupid NHL Playoffs

0:00 - The Colorado Wagon keeps rolling, even in garbage time! The Avs beat the Flames on the 2nd night of a road back-to-back! MacKinnon reached 53 goals and Marty Nachos recorded his 100th point. Great night all around. The Avalanche are back at Ball tomorrow night to wrap it all up!15:39 - It's so damn hot in the studio this morning. It's friggin tropical. And yet, we don't have control of our own thermostat. How did this happen? After that, back to sports! Almost all of the national media is picking the Nuggets to beat the Timberwolves in Round 1. Does that say more about how good the Nuggets are? Or the deficiencies of the Timberwolves?33:35 - The NFL playoff format is stupid. Usually. But this year as the 1 seed, it doesn't bother Brett as much! Feels good at the top, baby!

  23. 203

    4-14-26 - Avs beat Oilers in a shootout/Nugs vs T-Wolves in Round 1/Aqib Talib's Broncos Hunch

0:00 - Yesterday, the Bednar-less Avalanche beat the Oilers in a shootout! The Avs have nothing to play for, and yet the Oilers are still fighting for seeding! What a tough break for Edmonton. There's a reason their goalie angrily smashed his stick after Nathan MacKinnon buried the shootout winner.14:29 - Do we still fear the T-Wolves? There was a time when Minnesota struck fear into the hearts of every Nuggets fan. Will this year be different? How confident are we that the Nuggets can survive the Wolves and make it to Round 2?31:35 - Yesterday, Aqib Talib said the Broncos might make another flashy move on draft night. Let's expand on that...what does he mean? Does he mean the Broncos would try to trade up and draft someone? Or package some picks for a draft night trade?

  24. 202

    4-13-26 - Nugs win 12th game in a row/DU wins 11th championship, Avs scenarios/Blockbuster Rox deal

0:00 - And with that, the 2025-2026 NBA Regular Season is in the books. 82 games. The Nuggets finished the season by casually winning 12 games in a row and clinching the 3 seed. That's insane. Go back to, say...March 1. Could you picture the Nuggets rattling off 12 wins and climbing to the 3 seed? Not at all. What a wild turn of events.14:57 - The DU Pioneers are national champions once again! That's 11 titles for the Men's Hockey team. Let's be honest...THEY'RE the real Colorado Wagon. Also, the Avs have 3 regular season games remaining on the schedule. And they still don't have a 1st round playoff opponent yet. It could be the Kings, Ducks, or Predators at this point. Let's be real...does it matter who they face in the first round?31:53 - Brett starts the segment with a scorching hot take that has the potential to splinter our fanbase once and for all! After that, the biggest Rockies news in a decade broke on Friday...at like 9:58am. The Broncos Ownership group purchased a 40% minority ownership share of the Colorado Rockies. WOW! What can we expect from this? Will the Rockies now have access to the infinite checkbook of the Waltons?

  25. 201

4-10-26 - Avs clinch Presidents' Trophy/Rox get walked off in 12th/Tanking, point-shaving, or do you suck?

0:00 - WE'RE NUMBER ONE! WE'RE NUMBER ONE! Top of the Central, top of the West, now top of the entire league. The Presidents' Trophy is coming back to Denver! Now, you can start resting guys (if you want) and focus on the real goal: reuniting with Lord Stanley.14:38 - On a scale from 1-10, how confident are you in the Avs winning their first round matchup, whoever it is? How confident are you in the Nuggets? Then, the Padres beat the Rockies in the 12th inning last night with a walk off Grand Slam. Yikes. That's one of the worst way to lose a ballgame. Soul crushing. Let's compare the Rockies TV call and the Padres TV call. The thrill of victory. The agony of defeat.31:15 - The NBA has (another) issue on its hands. How can you tell when a player is intentionally throwing a game with point-shaving, tanking, etc? What if that player or team is just flat-out bad? How do you differentiate?

  26. 200

4-09-26 - How do we feel about Nugs win?/Rox reach .500/NBA's anti-tanking ideas are stupid

0:00 - The Nuggets beat the Grizzlies G-League roster last night...BUT...they were down at halftime! It took them ages to start rolling! They didn't seal the victory until the 4th quarter. Do we care? Should we be concerned because the Nuggets didn't smash their faces from the opening tip?15:17 - Hey, look at that! The Rockies swept the Astros! And NOW they're 6-6! The're playing .500 baseball! Plus, they started the season 0-3. It's only 12 games, but come on now. These Rox are looking legit. 31:35 - The NBA recently developed some ideas to stop tanking, and the NBA Board of Governors will vote on them next month. For the 10,000th time, these ideas they keep developing AREN'T GOING TO WORK! How many times do we have to say it?

  27. 199

4-08-26 - AVS CLINCH THE CENTRAL!/Rox are fun to watch, Nugs in the 3 seed/Paul DePodesta with PHD

0:00 - It's lonely at the top, baby! The Avalanche have officially clinched the top spot in the Central Division! They haven't wrapped up the President's Trophy yet, but it's within spitting distance. Good for the Avs. Plus, they don't have to face the Wild or the Stars in the first round since those two teams will face each other. They're both locked into a spot. So, who do we want to see the Avs play?15:58 - Make of this what you will, BUT...the Rockies are actually fun to watch this year! It's not a horrible slog like last year. They have 5 wins! They've already won 2 different series and have a chance to sweep the Astros today. Again, they're not a playoff team, but it's clear that they're starting to move in the right direction. After that, the Nuggets are sitting in the 3 seed right now. Tonight, they're playing the Memphis Grizzlies who are resting LITERALLY EVERYONE. They'll barely have enough warm bodies to field a team. This is a GIMMIE for the Nuggets. Win tonight and get closer to locking in the 3 seed.32:29 - Paul DePodesta, President of Baseball Operations for the Rockies, chatted with PHD yesterday. And he's saying things that Brett's wanted to hear for YEARS from someone in the Front Office. He's shifting the mindset and attitude of the team.

  28. 198

4-07-26 - Nuggets battle back against Blazers/Avs need ONE more win/UNC Hoops hires Michael Malone

0:00 - They never should've been down by 18 points at home against the lowly Trailblazers in the first place BUT what a comeback by the Nuggets! Man that was awesome. They've now won 9 in a row. And yet...Brett still doesn't know how to make heads or tails of this team. It feels like the Broncos all over again. They're winning but is it sustainable? There's that good ol' sustainable word again.15:22 - Lately, the Avs have won the games they needed to win, and lost games they couldn't get excited for. Well boys, if you're listening, tonight is one you need to win. Win ONE more game and the Central is yours. That's it. You're so close. Just do it tonight and be done with it.31:28 - North Carolina just hired Michael Malone to be their next head basketball coach. That's an interesting move, to say the least. Malone absolutely could've and should've gotten another NBA coaching gig. He won a title. And yet, he ended up in college. That being said, he's the perfect coach for the portal era.

  29. 197

4-06-26 - Jokic buried the Spurs/Avs won the game they needed/How is Jokic not MVP?

0:00 - It all came down to Jokic vs Wemby. MVP on MVP. And Jokic sunk an impossible fadeaway dagger right in Wemby's face. Wemby's like 10 feet tall, and Jokic launched a ball OVER his head. With a hand in his face. While falling backwards. Ballgame. Unbelievable. The Nuggets needed that win in the worst way and they got it. 14:40 - We don't care about yesterday's Avs loss to the Blues. Whatever. On Saturday, they needed a win over Dallas and they got it. The Central is done. Your Avs wrapped it up. Not officially, but I mean...it's over. 32:07 - After Jokic buried the Spurs on Saturday, how can Jokic not be an MVP favorite? Just because he's won 3x already. That's it. That's the only reason he's not at the top of the ladder. By every other metric, he should be the MVP. It's plain and simple.

    4-03-26 - Luka's injury changes everything/Conservative before playoffs?/Happy Opening Day, Snarky Sean

0:00 - Luka Doncic left the game with a hamstring injury yesterday. Holy cow. The Western Conference playoff race just blew WIDE open. 14:33 - How conservative do you want the Avalanche and Nuggets to be heading into the playoffs? Do they still need to go full throttle? Or can they slow down a bit since they've both clinched spots already?31:56 - Happy Rockies Home Opening Day! Baseball is back at 20th and Blake. A new era begins today. Let's give Brett a brief second to wax poetic. After that, Sean Payton did something he hasn't done in a while. He got snarky with the media at the NFL Owners Meetings! We haven't seen Snarky Sean vs Reporters in a long time!

  31. 195

4-02-26 - What a strange Avs loss/Nuggets took care of business...finally/Stupidest Broncos rumor ever

0:00 - Well that was an odd Avs game. They blew it early, battled all the way back, then blew it again. At home. Against the worst team in the NHL. Are there any actual takeaways from that game? Did we learn anything?15:05 - The Nuggets finally did what they were supposed to do. They beat a bad team! Sure they had a bad stretch where Utah kept it close. But at no point did Brett think they were in danger of losing.30:48 - Yesterday was April Fools' Day and there was a ridiculous Broncos rumor circulating from credible NFL sources! Supposedly it was legit. It wasn't a prank. If that's the case, it makes no sense whatsoever. The player that the Broncos supposedly had interest in wouldn't work here at all. For so many reasons.

  32. 194

4-01-26 - Nuggets injury updates/Sean Payton at NFL Owners Meetings/Screaming on a flaming plane

0:00 - Nuggets Head Coach David Adelman gave an injury update to PHD yesterday. AG is practicing and working his way back. Spencer Jones & Zeke Nnaji are day to day. It's hard to believe this team keeps getting banged up. One guy returns to the lineup, three guys leave.14:12 - Sean Payton spoke to the media at the NFL Owners Meetings yesterday. He's not a fan of the terminology "Free Agency Frenzy" or "running it back." 31:08 - An engine on a Delta flight caught fire during takeoff, and some people onboard started screaming their heads off. Brett thought it was a bit overkill. It's a moment of pure panic for sure, but screaming at the top of your lungs will only make things worse 10 out of 10 times.

  33. 193

3-31-26 - Avs extinguish the Flames 9-2/George Paton at NFL Owners Meetings/The Rockies won a baseball game

0:00 - Man, the Avs took care of business yesterday! They SMASHED Calgary 9-2 at Ball Arena. That's what good teams are supposed to do to bad teams (take note, Nuggets). The only bummer was Cale Makar leaving the game with an "upper body injury." Hopefully it's precautionary and nothing more.14:46 - George Paton and Greg Penner both addressed the media at the NFL Owners Meetings yesterday. They were asked about everything from Bo's ankle to JK Dobbins to Jaylen Waddle. How does the Broncos Braintrust feel about their roster?31:42 - Halt the presses! The Rockies won a professional baseball game. They OBLITERATED the Blue Jays 14-5 in Toronto!

  34. 192

3-30-26 - Nugs beat Jazz & Warriors this weekend/DOWN GOES DUKE!/Rox start 0-3, early ABS insanity

0:00 - The Nuggets beat the Jazz on Friday, then followed it up with a thrilling win over the Warriors last night. They're now on a 6-game win streak. And yet, Brett still doesn't feel fully comfortable with this team. 15:40 - Duke lost to UConn on a last-second heave. A heartbreaker backbreaker. Both? Both. The Madness of March never disappoints. Unfortunately, Brett is incredibly torn when it comes to the outcome of that game.31:46 - It's a new Rockies season! Hope springs eternal! And they started...0-3. Got swept by the Marlins. They lost every game by 1 run. Are there any silver linings? Has Brett seen ANY progress whatsoever?

  35. 191

3-27-26 - Avs put the WIN in WINnipeg/Rockies Opening Day!/Tom Brady needs to go away

0:00 - The drought is OVA. The Avalanche finally scored a regular season goal in Winnipeg AND won a game! How da ya like them apples? So the Avs won in regulation and the Dallas Stars lost again. The Central Division is all but clinched for Colorado. 14:46 - A new season begins for the Rockies today. Hope springs eternal. We all make fun of Brett for his so-called Rockies optimisim, but let's be real here. In all seriousness...what does Brett want to see from the Rockies this year? What are his honest expectations?31:29 - Is Brett onto something here? Or is he just being a hater. We're done with Tom Brady. Dude needs to shut his trap and go away (unless he's calling a football game).

  36. 190

3-26-26 - Incredible night for Jokic & Murray/Jamal plays Ethical Basketball/Joker on a tear right now

0:00 - No sleep, no problem. Jamal Murray dropped 53 points on Dallas' head and Nikola Jokic was ONE assist away from a 20-20-20 game. Absurd. And it didn't go to waste! The Nuggets won! Man, it was fun to see the Jokic/Murray duo do what they do best.14:40 - Jamal Murray plays the DEFINITION of "Ethical Basketball." Always has. Unlike a certain Canadian MVP favorite who shall remain nameless. Or a certain big man who resides in Miami...32:40 - Yesterday, Brett asked what Jokic would have to do to truly impress us. After everything Jokic has achieved, is there anything else he could do to make our jaws drop? Then last night, Jokic delivered.

  37. 189

    3-25-26 - Double Dip-a-Roo, Double WIN-A-Roo!/Jaded by Jokic's success/The Goal for the Avs

0:00 - Another Double Dip-A-Roo means another double WIN-A-ROO BABY! The Avalanche obliterated the Penguins, and the Nuggets snuck past the Suns. You love to see it.14:15 - The travel schedule the Nuggets have had this season is brutal. They played a game that started at like 9:15pm MT, flew back to Denver, got home at like 5am, and they have a game tonight. Unbelievable. Also, let's dust off an old conversation we haven't had in awhile...Jokic isn't going to win MVP. It'll go to SGA, Luka, or Wemby before it goes to him. Which is crazy because Jokic is putting up MONSTER numbers this season, and yet his name isn't even mentioned in the MVP conversation. Not one peep. We've become so accustomed to his greatness.31:20 - For the podcast listeners, the bumper song that prompted Brett to ask about cookie jars was "Cookie Jar" by Iration. Great song. Back to sports...the Avs keep winning and the Dallas Stars keep losing. They have a 7-point lead over Dallas in the standings with a game in hand. If they win a few more games, you can put it on the backburner and rest guys down the stretch. That should be the only goal. Mack, Landy, Cale, and Marty Nachos shouldn't have to play in the last 4 games or so.

  38. 188

3-24-26 - Avs & Nugs ramp up to playoffs/Broncos 2nd round draft pick/Landeskog explains his injury

0:00 - As the Avs and Nuggets barrell towards the playoffs, what do we want to see? What do we need to see from these teams in this home stretch?14:46 - The Broncos won't make a pick in the NFL Draft until the 2nd round. 62nd overall pick. Who should the Broncos target with that pick?31:58 - Gabe Landeskog explained his "lower body injury" in his own words and...yikes. So Brett asked if you had to choose...which sports injuries would you rather have happen to you instead of what happened to Gabe?

  39. 187

    3-23-26 - Quadruple Win-A-Roo Weekend/P-Wat's return, Tournament Madness/Avs and Nugs playoff seeding

0:00 - 4 games, 4 wins for the Avs and Nugs! That's a quadruple WIN-a-roo. What a weekend! Both teams needed those wins. 14:42 - Peyton Watson returned to the lineup yesterday and he looked good, all things considered. Even though he admitted that he was tired because of the altitude. Been there, P-Wat!Also, the tournament was (as the meme goes) absolute cinema this weekend. How did that Vanderbilt game-winning shot not go in?? It was IN the basket!!33:00 - The Avs won 2 games this weekend. The Stars lost in OT and then regulation. That means that the Avs have a 5 point lead in the standings with a game in hand. They don't have the 1 seed locked up, but that certainly helps.Meanwhile the Nuggets...whatever, man. They've fallen to the 5th seed. They could easily fall to the 6th seed. Hopefully not 7th. Point is, just make it to the playoffs. The West is a gauntlet and the Lakers won't stop winning. Play well down the stretch, avoid the play-in tournament, and take whatever comes your way.

  40. 186

3-20-26 - March Madness Day 1 was awesome/Can Waddle help everyone else?/Bam Adebayo made us mad

0:00 - Brett was worried that Day 1 of the NCAA Tournament wouldn't be quite as electric in the NIL era. And the lie detector test determined that was a LIE. It was awesome! Shoutout High Point and VCU for the upsets. 14:32 - Jaylen Waddle's impact on the Broncos isn't just about what he can do. It's also about how he can help out his teammates on offense.31:09 - The Heat hosted the Lakers last night and Luca dropped a 60-piece. Bam Adebayo was asked about it postgame and he had to tie it back to his 83-point game. HAD to.

  41. 185

3-19-26 - Avs looked good the loss/The Nuggets are not serious people/NCAA Tournament Day 1

0:00 - The Avs lost to the Stars in a shootout last night at Ball Arena. Call this copium if you want, but the Avs looked good. They played their butts off. It was just one of those games. Bednar thought they played well, MacKinnon thought they played well...it just didn't go their way. If they play like that in a 7 game series, we'll take our chances.14:51 - Brett's a big fan of the show Succession. At one point, Logan Roy says to all of his children, "I love you...but you are not serious people." That's how Kaner feels about the Nuggets. This team is unserious. Forget about any championship aspirations. 31:38 - The NCAA tournament beings today! Games on games on games on games on games! It's madness, as advertised. But is the tournament still as exciting as it used to be? Or has the NIL era altered the landscape too much?

  42. 184

3-18-26 - Nugs DESTROY the 76ers/Jaylen Waddle is a great talent/USA loses to Venezuela in WBC

0:00 - Last night was a must-win game for the Nuggets and boy did they win! They obliterated the 76ers from the opening tip to the final buzzer. Total domination. Even in a blow out game against a bad team, are there positive takeaways? Did we actually learn anything?14:20 - Jaylen Waddle is seriously talented and the Broncos made a great move. Where does he stack up among skill players in the AFC West?31:46 - USA lost to Venezuela in the WBC championship game last night. So now that's the tournament is in the books...how was it? Did we end up caring about it? Did the players care?

  43. 183

3-17-26 - Avs obliterated by Penguins/Details about Denver's lack of moves/Sour grapes with Team USA

0:00 - Well that was no fun! The Avalanche got absolutely SHELLED by the Penguins last night at Ball Arena. Wedgewood got pulled 13 min into the 1st period. Then Blackwood immediately gave up another goal. One of those nights. Postgame, Coach Bednar said the slow start wasn't Wedgie's fault. The team around him was awful.14:28 - Luca "My name is Luca" Evans wrote an article detailing the lack of moves the Broncos have made in free agency so far. They currently have 94% of last year's snaps under contract. That is crazy! Unprecedented. What's the vibe around the league regarding Denver running it back?31:52 - Brett's noticed that, when team USA beats people, they tend to react poorly in their postgame comments. We saw it in the Winter Olympics. And we're seeing it again in the WBC.

  44. 182

3-16-26 - Infuriating Nugs loss to Lakers/Avs got **sigh** GOALIED/Broncos did NOTHING in Free Agency

0:00 - The Nuggets lost to the Lakers in LA, and normally we'd say "whatever, that happens." But that loss was INFURIATING. Consistently, the Nuggets struggle to close out winnable games down the stretch. It's a problem we've seen time and time again. It also hurts even more when you lose to the friggin Lakers and friggin LeBron James.13:18 - The Avalanche lost in Winnipeg, which tends to happen EVERY TIME the Avalanche play in Winnipeg. And what happened to them this time? They got...sigh...they got Goalied. There's a reason Connor Connor Hellebuyck willed Team USA to a Gold Medal. Same guy. It's a frustrating loss, but it hurts even more because DALLAS WON'T STOP WINNING.28:42 - The Broncos did literally nothing in Free Agency. Nothing. That's it. They're bringing back almost the exact same roster as last year. Look...we understand that they made the AFC Championship game last year and they were 1 Bo Nix ankle away from making the Super Bowl. But do they REALLY believe that this identical roster can do the same thing next season? They don't need ANY OTHER PIECES on offense?

  45. 181

3-13-26 - HUGE Nuggets win @ Spurs!/Wedgewood is Goalie #1/Saving draft picks for later?

0:00 - What a HUGE win for you Denver Nuggets baby! Second night of a back to back. No AG. No Peyton Watson. Down by 20+ points. Doesn't matter if the Spurs didn't have Wemby. That was such an important game for the Nuggets. Everyone contributed! Cam Johnson, Spencer Jones, Julian Strawther, you name it. All hands on deck.15:45 - The Avs shook off the Edmonton loss by smacking the Kraken last night in Seattle. While the win is good, Brett has a more imporant takeaway from the game: Scott Wedgewood is this team's #1 goalie. No knock on Blackwood. But Wedgewood is just better.32:10 - The Jaguars Wunderkind Doogie Howser-looking GM (who's actually named James Gladstone) explained why they aren't being too aggressive during Free Agency. And his reasoning actually makes sense. Maybe the Broncos are doing the same thing?

  46. 180

3-12-26 - Nuggets blow out Rockets/Brett is Veruca Salt/Opposing fans keep finding us

0:00 - Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about! The Nuggets blew out the Rockets 129-93 last night at Ball Arena. Doesn't matter if Houston was on the 2nd night of a back-to-back. A win like that is a big deal. It was a full, complete team effort. We needed to see that ESPECIALLY at this point in the season.15:52 - Brett has officially become Veruca Salt with the Broncos and their lack of moves during Free Agency. DADDY! I WANT A GOLDEN GOOSE! Or a usable weapon on offense.33:18 - Nelly has a special talent: finding clips from our show to post on social media that will piss off opposing fanbases. OKC fans wanted all the smoke on Twitter, then Oilers fans came for us yesterday. Keep giving us impressions, baby! We're playing for both clicks AND wins.

  47. 179

3-11-26 - MacKinnon's ejection was the wrong call/Bam's 83 point game is a sham/No FAs yet for the Broncos

0:00 - Yesterday, the Avalanche lost to the Oilers at Ball Arena. In the loss, Nathan MacKinnon was assessed a game misconduct for goalie interference and ejected from the game late in the 2nd period. But he didn't intentionally slam into the goalie. He was very clearly shoved into him by Darnell Nurse. I guess the NHL and the Ref saw it differently.14:54 - Bam Adebayo scored 83 points last night, officially passing Kobe Bryant's 81-point game. The only player who's scored more points in a single game is Wilt the Stilt with 100. But here's the thing...Bam's 83 points feels like a sham. Bam's a scam. Brett explains why. Also, the Ravens backed out of the Maxx Crosby trade deal because of a failed physical. Woof. That really throws a wrench in things for the Raiders. 34:30 - So...the Broncos still haven't done anything in free agency yet...that's neat.

  48. 178

3-10-26 - Nugs lose to OKC...AGAIN/No FA Broncos moves so far/JFM leaves, the Definition of Insanity?

0:00 - Nuggets went to OKC last night and lost...AGAIN. They're 0-3 against OKC this year. Man, we're starting to hate those guys. It also reinforces that this Nuggets squad isn't a championship team. It's now clearer than ever.16:13 - The NFL's "legal tampering" window opened up and the Broncos...did nothing. So far. Did the Broncos miss out on anyone? Are you disappointed by the lack of moves?33:09 - JFM signed with the Titans. Will we miss him? Or is it a good situation for both of them? Also, one of our texters accused the Broncos of the "definition of insanity." By running it back with the same roster, they're doing the same thing again and expecting different results. Is that true? Does that sentiment apply here?

  49. 177

3-09-26 - Avs get Kadri back, win 2 shootout games!/Broncos Free Agency Wishlist/Nugs embarrassed by Knicks

0:00 - Friday was NHL trade deadline madness! The deal was dead, and then it wasn't. The Colorado Avalanche brought back Nazem Kadri! Then, the Avs beat both the Stars and Wild in a shootout. What a truly wild weekend for the Avs. 14:59 - The Broncos gave TE Adam Trautman a 3-year x $18.5 mil contract. Take that, DragonSlayer69. Brett's a little confused by the deal, though. What DOES he want to see the Broncos do in Free Agency as this so-called "legal tampering" period opens up?31:38 - The thrill of victory. The agony of defeat. The Nuggets got absolutely OBLITERATED and embarrassed by the New York Knickerbockers at Ball Arena on Friday night. They lost by 39 POINTS. Oof. And to make matters worse...David Adelman's postgame press conference was drowned out by the sounds of the Knicks blasting music in the locker room.

  50. 176

3-06-26 - Lakers Take LeL on the Way Out/Avs get Nicolas Roy/Monkey on the Avs' back, AG set to return

0:00 - OKC and their haughty head coach might be #1 on the Nuggets hate list. If that's the case, the LA Lakers are 1.5. Still hate em. Always have, always will. Beating them still feels like pure heroin. Jamal Murray must feel the same way, because he becomes prime Wilt Chamberlain anytime he plays the Lakers. 15:27 - Right after we wrapped up the show yesterday, the Avalanche traded for Nicolas Roy. How do we feel about the trade? Is he a good fit? Was the price right?32:05 - Right now, the Dallas Stars are the monkey on Colorado's back. They've owned you as of late. It is what it is. You've GOTTA beat them tonight. For so many reasons. Tonight isn't literally a must win, but it's a must win. Period. Also, AG is supposed to maybe possibly hopefully return tonight. Good. The Nuggets have been missing him! I know it's a delicate balance with hamstrings and soft tissue injuries. But they need him.
