Soil and Soul

Humans are body and soul. Our lives are fed by what we plant and tend in the soil, as well as what we plant and tend in our souls. We depend upon the crops we plant and the livestock we raise on the land. Just as importantly, if not more, we depend upon the force of our souls to drive and direct us during the time we have on earth. Catholic Passage is launching a new free podcast show for those who want to invest in yields that count most. Five days a week during planting and harvest seasons, Soil and Soul looks to help you sow seeds and reap a golden harvest.

    Tuesday's Toolbox - Spotlight

Welcome back to Soil & Soul and another episode of Tuesday's Toolbox. Today, host Aaron reflects on the value of a good strong spotlight as a tool, to illuminate our path forward and our tasking before us. And it's certainly the same within our faith lives as well, where we need spotlighting tools to help guide us forward and also in our calling to do so for others in illumination. And as our Catholic Passage mission tagline reads, "Inspiring Passageways for Christ".

Welcome back to Soil & Soul! Tonight's reflection episode is tied to the concerns we can, and should, have for the stories, insights, and teachings, from people who lived many years ago. They may seem so far removed from what we view as our modern culture, problems, and own people, but has the way changed? Has the gate changed?

  6. 64

Our first week of this spring's seasonal podcast ends with a Family Friday episode, where co-hosts Aaron and Kayla discuss what it's been like getting prepped for the spring planting season. Welcome back to another episode of Soil and Soul! On this first week of the season, our Wednesday podcast features a conversation about a world concern currently on many minds and hearts. 11. 59

    Tuesday's Toolbox - Cooler (VIDEO)

Welcome back to another episode of Soil and Soul! We kick of this first week of the season with a Tuesday's Toolbox reflection on an everyday use cooler. Whether you eat sack lunches in the tractor cab, or bring goodies to a tailgate, almost all of us have used a cooler before. Host Aaron reflects off the cuff on this item and how it metaphorically can be tied back to our faith lives. We had some technical difficulties on Tuesday and thus the audio-only release at first. This episode is the same content, but simply with video intact. We are finding that it is much more difficult to upload videos in their large file format (versus audio-only), while in the middle of a remote field, with spotty data service.

Thanks for joining us on this 6th week of Soil & Soul, our seasonal podcast this fall. Today's episode ties an extremely common tool as a metaphor to our faith lives. Everyone has at least one mirror around their home, and multiple mirrors in each car or piece of equipment they might drive. Just like a mirror can allow you to look at yourself in a reflection, in a view you can't otherwise, so too can the mirrors in our spiritual lives. Take a listen to this relatable off the cuff musing by host Aaron from the cab.

  23. 47

Passing on Faith Thru Farming w/ Brian & Britney Rosburg

Today's episode is a fantastic discussion between co-hosts Aaron and Kayla, with plenty of self-reflection, as they dive into the relatable topics of the "farm priority", missing weekend events and even life events, all in the pursuit of another field completed... 27. 43

    Tuesday's Toolbox - Broom

Welcome to our week 5 Tuesday's Toolbox on this fall harvest seasonal podcast, Soil & Soul! We begin today's episode with a great reflection by Fr. Craig Collison, followed by a short musing by host Aaron on the menial tasking and lesser status we might associate with jobs involving a broom or similar cleaning tools. Today's toolbox episode offers a chance to reflect on all that we have around us to make life enjoyable and easier, as well as the people that may have a role in that as well, from the most prestigious jobs, to the "most lowly". Everyone is a gift and has great value.

  28. 42

Welcome back to Soil & Soul and another episode of Tuesday's Toolbox, where today's tool discussed is the magnetic parts tray found in many mechanic and farm shops, and even households. Even the "catch-all" tray might throw your keys and random items when you get home relates to today's episode where host Aaron reflects on a metaphor to our personal and spiritual lives. Is your own parts tray shiny and clean, or is it grimy and full of iron filings?

  34. 36
