It’s Derby Week in Southern Hang country! The fellas are joined by legendary trainer Kenny McPeek, fresh off his historic 2024 Oaks/Derby sweep. Kenny shares his journey from the University of Kentucky to the winner's circle and pulls back the curtain on the "big board" he uses to manage his elite stable. In this episode of Southern Hang, we sit down with Louisville’s own AG Gibson, a standout midfielder for the University of Louisville Women’s Soccer team. AG takes us on a journey through her time in the 502, starting with her legendary career at Assumption High School. From Thanksgiving straight into Christmas, the transition is fast. How was Thanksgiving? Are you ready for Christmas? Favorite movies, shows, food, we lay it all out there for the season. 

The fellas discuss their family traditions during Thanksgiving.  Favorite foods, drinks, football,etc etc.  They then break down the staples...turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce.  Then go down some other dishes that may or may not end up on their table for the big feast.

The fellas welcome in legendary basketball player Kenny Davis, who was named Captian of the U.S. national team in the 1972 Olympics.  Kenny tells the story like only he can tell of the infamous gold medal match versus the Russian basketball team that ended in controversy. Kenny also talks about working with guys like Magic and Bird, being a big player in the shoe game with Converse for 40 years. 

The Southern Hang fellas welcome in a legend of the indie rock scene.  John Darnielle and his band, The Mountain Goats, have been at the epicenter of the scene since the early 2000s.  John comes on the show to talk about his new album Through This Fire Across from Peter Balkan, including that cameo from Lin-Manuel Miranda!  The fellas go into the difference between a Jambox and a Boombox, the difference between a ukulele and an accoustic guitar, touring with Adeem the Artist, and the unlikely No Children viral moment on TikTok.

Carrie comes on the show to discuss her family's brands Pappy Van Winkle and Pappy & Co. Grab a bourbon and sit down to listen to a great show.

One of our favorite artists from Bourbon and Beyond comes back on the show for a deeper dive into her music and what she is up to. An americana musician out of Nashville with an amazing spirit and fun attitude.

To repurpose a quote from The Sandlot...at some point in our kids' childhood, they did something for the last time and nobody knew it.  As the room got a little dusty, the Southern Hang fellas talk about some of those moments.  This is Southern Hang at it's finest...just 4 Fathers talking about the best responsibility in the world.  And showing how truly blessed they feel to be part of their kids’ lives.
