Welcome to Stories of Joshua and Grace, where we discuss faith and spiritual growth in a relaxed setting. We’re so glad you’re joining us today.In this episode, we’re talking about one of the most emotional and powerful prophets in Scripture, Jeremiah, often called “the Weeping Prophet.” We’ll explore his difficult ministry, his message of judgment, the beautiful promise of the New Covenant (in Jeremiah 31), and the grief and hope found in Lamentations.

Today’s episode is titled “Isaiah – Prophet of the Messiah.” Isaiah is one of the most profound and influential prophets in the Bible, known for both his strong warnings and his powerful messages of hope.This episode will focus on three major themes:Isaiah’s vision of God’s throne in Isaiah chapter 6His warnings to the nation of JudahAnd the hope he proclaims in the coming Immanuel and the Suffering Servant

Today’s episode is titled “Elijah & Elisha – Prophets of Power.”These two prophets lived during one of Israel’s darkest spiritual periods. The people had turned away from God to worship idols, especially Baal. But through Elijah and Elisha, God showed His unmatched power and compassion, calling His people back to Himself.

In today’s episode, we explore Samuel and Nathan: Prophets of the Kingdom. Two men called by God during Israel’s early monarchy, both prophets, both courageous, and both committed to truth above all else.Samuel was the last judge of Israel and the first prophet to anoint kings. He bridged the era between the judges (Theocracy)  and the monarchy, preparing Israel for a new form of leadership under God’s guidance.Nathan came after Samuel, serving during the reign of King David a man after God’s own heart, yet one who fell deeply into sin. Nathan was the prophet who dared to confront David with truth and restore him to repentance.

Today’s topic is “Who Is a Prophet?” an introduction to the messengers God used to speak His truth throughout history. We’ll talk about their purpose, their courage, and their relevance for us now.

We are your host, Joshua and Grace. and  and in today’s episode—Episode 10—we’re diving deep into one of the most infamous figures in all of Scripture: Judas Iscariot.

Let’s start with Simon the Zealot. His name alone is intriguing. The “Zealot” refers to a political group fiercely nationalistic Jews who sought to overthrow Roman rule. It’s important to understand how radical this group could be. They believed in using force if necessary to bring about change.Imagine the contrast between that mindset and Jesus’ teachings turn the other cheek, love your enemies, blessed are the peacemakers. It’s a huge transformation. For Simon to leave behind a life of political aggression to follow Jesus is no small thing.It reminds us that Jesus doesn’t erase our passions; He redirects them. For Simon, his zeal was transformed from rebellion to devotion.On the other hand, we have Judas not Iscariot, also known as Judas Thaddeus or Jude, depending on the translation. Judas Iscariot, the betrayer, often overshadows him, but Judas Thaddeus is debated to be the writer of the Epistle of Jude in the New Testament - Interesting because Jude identifies as servant of Jesus and brother of James (so likely Jesus' brother).

Today’s episode is titled: “Thomas and James the Less: Faith in Action.” We’ll take a look at two apostles who may not get as much spotlight, but whose stories carry deep spiritual lessons.Thomas is often remembered for his doubt, but there’s more to him than one moment. James the Less is quieter, almost hidden, but his humility speaks volumes. So let’s dive in. Two men. Two journeys. One common thread: faith in action.

Introduction to Matthew's StoryMatthew—also known as Levi—was a tax collector, a role viewed with disdain in first-century Israel. Tax collectors were often seen as traitors to their people, working for the occupying Roman Empire and profiting at the expense of their fellow Jews.But Jesus saw beyond that. With a simple but profound invitation—"Follow me"—Jesus called Matthew into a completely new life. Matthew’s immediate response was to leave everything behind and follow Him.His transformation from tax collector to apostle, and eventually Gospel writer, reveals the redemptive power of grace and the deep purpose God can bring out of even the most unlikely lives.

 In this episode, we explore the lives of Philip and Bartholomew: Seeking and Sharing the Truth. These two apostles played key roles in spreading the gospel, each in their own way. Philip was known for his inquisitive nature and eagerness to seek the truth, while Bartholomew (also known as Nathanael) was recognized for his honesty and willingness to follow Christ. Join us as we dive into their stories and the lessons we can learn from their devotion.

We’re diving into the life of James the Greater, one of Jesus’ closest disciples. He was a passionate and bold follower of Christ, part of Jesus’ inner circle, and the first apostle to be martyred.

John was born in Bethsaida, a fishing town along the Sea of Galilee. He was the son of Zebedee, a prosperous fisherman, and Salome (no, not the Salome that danced for Herod and asked for John the Baptist's head as a reward) , who was one of the women who followed and supported Jesus (Mark 15:40-41).

In today’s episode, we’ll talk about Peter: The Rock of the Church.Before meeting Jesus, Peter (originally named Simon) was a fisherman from the town of Bethsaida (John 1:44) and later lived in Capernaum (Mark 1:29). He worked alongside his brother Andrew, who was a disciple of John the Baptist.
