Story Behind the Praise
by Josephine Mary Schmidt
Storytelling is an art, and so is songwriting. God has an incredible way of communicating Himself through love and songs. Creation sings to Him, and so does the Lord Jesus over us! (Zephaniah 3:14-17). I'm a singer-songwriter, and the Story Behind the Praise podcast features the stories, Scriptures, and inspiration surrounding crafting these songs. I believe Jesus wants us to sing with understanding. To know Him in song, and for these songs to proclaim God's Word and the message of Christ. It is to help us grow to His fullness. (Colossians 3:16/Ephesians 4:13/5:19).

Fine Wine - Episode 6 - Part 3
Jesus filled six empty stone jars that the Jews used for ceremonial washing. They had exchanged their Glorious God for rituals and worthless idols. There is no sanctification pleasing to God than faith in Jesus and obedience to God's Word. I hope this message strengthens your faith in the many trials we are destined to face.

Fine Wine - Episode 4 - Part 1
My hope is on Jesus,” verse lyric for the song “Fine Wine.” I use a difficult passage to discuss our need to lay down our lives and not allow the devil to provoke our Lord Jesus to jealousy. We are the temple of God, and our responses should be very different from those of the world who don’t know who Jesus is.

How Precious (Psalm 36) - Episode 2
In times of panic and trouble, there is a place that is very real to us as Christians—to be under God's precious and loving wing and arms. I talk about the current day of Leo, my husband, who has a life-threatening infection and is an ocean away from me and draw on this song and Psalm. I pray this podcast encourages you that in times of trouble, words that may be easy to say but difficult to do are a very real place of refuge and relief.

Leaving This Room - Episode 1
"Leaving This Room" starts with these harsh words, "Dry your eyes. No one's coming for you." Josephine discusses the birth of this song, the pain surrounding these lyrics, and how Jesus redeems us out of terrible situations, too strong for us to escape, like being in a locked room all our life until He finds us. It is the first song she decided to put on her album to praise and honor the One who opened the door and changed her life from death and destruction to life and promises in Him. Jesus rescues those seeking to escape the kingdom of darkness, trying to destroy them through people, circumstances, and life here as we know it. Come and join in this incredible discussion and learn how to escape from the tactics of the Devil, who is responsible for keeping us in these chains.
