Talking Over You

Hannah and Sarah Sturm grew up in the same household, live in neighboring towns, and hang out all the time. But in one respect, they couldn’t be more different: Sarah is a professional cyclist while Hannah has spent most of her life successfully avoiding bikes at all costs. They both know that Sarah has a weird job, and Hannah isn’t afraid to ask the sorts of questions that most people in the bike world would be too embarrassed to ask. Why is there a Queen Stage but not a King Stage? How old is gravel racing? Does everyone pee in their chamois? And most importantly, why on earth would anyone choose this as a job? Join the Sturm sisters every week to hear them laugh about their vastly different careers, argue about their shared memories, and drop unfiltered takes on just about everything.

The Traka, driving in Europe, and jelly beans

Sarah is back from Spain and has stories to tell. She narrowly avoided a virus outbreak at Rapha team camp, continued her commentating career, raced the Traka 100, and nearly got arrested (again) over a situation with a rental car (again). Plus, they continue the discussion about thinness and body image, talk about Hannah’s bargain MRI, and take a walk down memory lane to a traumatic jelly bean incident from childhood. Instagram: @talking.over.youTikTok: @talking.over.you.podcast

Rapha team camp, adult braces, and weight loss in cycling (with Danni Shrosbree)

Sarah is in Spain at the Rapha training camp this week, so she sat down with Danni Shrosbree to talk about peeing (obviously), shoes, and adult braces. They also discuss the ongoing attention surrounding weight management in cycling, especially in the women’s peloton, and how it’s affected their own lives. Plus, since Hannah is off this week, Sarah takes the opportunity to roast her about her first Hotmail account. Content warning: This episode contains discussion of weight loss and eating disorders. Instagram: @talking.over.youTikTok: @talking.over.you.podcast

Sea Otter, soup, and sea lions

Sarah embarked on her temporary career as a race commentator this weekend at Sea Otter, and she had a packed schedule. Not only did she do live in-field reporting during the pro race, but she also narrowly avoided getting arrested while trying to enter the venue. Somehow, she almost had to sing the national anthem at the start line, too. Meanwhile, Hannah was taking copious notes about the YouTube live chat during the event. They discuss all of this and more in today's episode.More info about Sarah's nutrition plan can be found here: https://us.fullscript.com/welcome/kchannell/store-start Instagram: @talking.over.youTikTok: @talking.over.you.podcast

    FansOnly, Paris-Roubaix, and Coachella

There are a lot of bike things to talk about this week, which means that Hannah is forced to do a lot of listening. Seriously, though, Paris-Roubaix was so exciting and emotional in both the men’s and women’s races that Sarah has a lot to say, including which rider might be cuter than Dylan and the absolute travesty of not providing live coverage of the full women’s race. Then, they pivot to Sarah’s upcoming commentary at Sea Otter, which Hannah is extremely nervous about. Plus, they discuss the new season of 'Euphoria,' their mom’s challenges with the Notes app, and the shorts people are wearing at Coachella.Instagram: @talking.over.youTikTok: @talking.over.you.podcast

Passover, bike messengers, and flopsy (ft. Margie Weinstein)

Sarah and Hannah are back together this week to celebrate a belated Passover. They reminisce about the Easter egg hunts they never had as children and try to remember the name of Sarah’s least favourite party game. Hannah got to talk to a former bike messenger while getting a tattoo in Denver last week, and the experience might converted her into a cycling enthusiast. They are also joined by their Mom, Margie. Back by popular demand, she talks about her impending grandmother-hood and her advice to Sarah as a soon-to-be-parent. Plus, Hannah reveals her true Enneagram (spoiler alert: Sarah was wrong).Instagram: @talking.over.youTikTok: @talking.over.you.podcast

Galileo, The Hills have wheels, and leather chamois

Hannah’s been having the time of her life in Denver this week while Sarah shopped for pants at Costco in Albuquerque. They have a lot to catch up on, but first, they get sidetracked by which Enneagram personality they are. Later, they talk about the possible drama in the women’s race at The Hills, and Sarah reveals a breakthrough she had while hanging onto the wheels of her friends’ training ride last week. Plus, Hannah has another nail and hair update, and they talk about the new pregnancy contract for Life Time Grand Prix riders. Instagram: @talking.over.youTikTok: @talking.over.you.podcast

Lady Whistledown, the Cape Epic, and race coverage

Sarah and Hannah are back from Mid South after a very stressful return journey that ended in free ice cream. Sarah has some grievances to air and also some pregnancy purchases to discuss, while Hannah has a theory that connects gravel to the Netflix period romance ‘Bridgerton.’ A lot has been going on in the bike world lately, so they catch up on the nail-biter of Milan-San Remo and the drama at this year’s Cape Epic. Plus, they dive into the renewed controversy surrounding race coverage and rider safety. Instagram: @talking.over.youTikTok: @talking.over.you.podcast

BONUS: Mid South post-race interviews with Sofia Gomez Villafane, Cobe Freeburn, Gee Schreurs, and Cecile Lejeune

While at Mid South, Sarah and Hannah caught up with four pros after their races (including the winners of the men’s and women’s fields) to ask them questions about their flaws, their earrings, their pronunciation of female anatomy, and washing dishes. They also ask them about how the race played out. Instagram: @talking.over.youTikTok: @talking.over.you.podcast

Live from Mid South: Woodworking, tantrums, and pregnancy clauses

It might have been Hannah’s nightmare, but it turns out that recording a live podcast (at a bike race, no less) can actually be extremely fun. The Sturms sat down in front of a live audience in Stillwater, Oklahoma, over the weekend to talk about being at Mid South, how Sarah’s pregnancy will affect her future in the Grand Prix, and why she thinks she’s turning into Kim Kardashian. They also answer audience questions about their not-so-solid sisterly bond and what it was like recording their very first podcast episode together.Instagram: @talking.over.youTikTok: @talking.over.you.podcast

    Sarah’s news, manatees, and ebikes

It’s finally time for Sarah to explain why she’s been lying to everyone for approximately four and a half months. This week on the show, she shares the news that only some of her friends guessed (the rest thought she was quitting cycling), and discusses how it will impact her career this season, how manatees might play a role, and her new appreciation for ebikes. Plus, Hannah manages to get a word in to recommend a new novel about trad wives. Shout out to TrainingPeaks for sponsoring this episode. Aqua-mittens, foot tires, and cat bejewelling with ultra-runner Abby Hall

The Sturms are back behind the mic after their winter hiatus and have finally enlisted the help of an actual runner to discuss the ins and outs of a sport they know nothing about. Abby Hall is one of the top ultra-runners in the world, having won Western States last year and placed second at UTMB Mont Blanc/CCC several years earlier. Abby joins Sarah and Hannah to talk about everything from pacers and training hours to golden tickets, pooping, and feet. Follow Abby on Instagram @abby.k.hallInstagram: @talking.over.youTikTok: @talking.over.you.podcast

The Super Bowl, Lindsey Vonn, and hamster sod

It’s been a big week in the sporting world. There was a football game at a Bad Bunny concert, Lindsey Vonn’s highly anticipated Olympic comeback was cut short after a horrific crash, and Girona is abuzz with angsty gravel pros getting ready for their first race of the season. The Sturms discuss all of this, including what they learned about football on Sunday, which states are actually in New England, and why the Super Bowl commercials were so bad this year. On a more serious note, they talk about the reaction to Lindsey Vonn’s crash and the addictive nature of being a top-level professional athlete. Plus, Hannah blows Sarah’s mind about how she packed for her upcoming trip to the Amazon, Sarah reveals what her rap name would be, and they both reminisce over the truly singular nature of Hannah’s childhood bedroom.Shoutout Garmin and their new Varia RearView 820 radar and tail light for sponsoring this episode. Instagram: @talking.over.youTikTok: @talking.over.you.podcast

Cereal, the Winter Olympics, and peeing (again)

There isn’t much going on in the world of bikes this week, so Sarah and Hannah are left to their own devices to incorporate sports into the episode. Luckily, the Winter Olympics are about to kick off, though there is some confusion about when the torch was lit, where it’s been, and how you pronounce Ancient Greece. Sarah has a handful of athletes she’s looking forward to watching and even managed to write some of them down. Hannah has been thinking a lot about peeing lately, ever since that revelation about male anatomy last week brought the world to a standstill. They discuss how divers wearing dry suits avoid wetting themselves underwater and revisit the endlessly discussable topic of how cyclists pee, poop, and puke on the bike. Plus, cereal. Instagram: @talking.over.youTikTok: @talking.over.you.podcast

  14. 27

Male anatomy, gravel teams, and poddy talk

This week, the Sturms are discussing how teams might affect gravel racing, but their analysis has a lot more to do with mermaids and Martha Washington than actual cycling tactics. Hannah has a mind-blowing fact about male anatomy to share (with Dylan on hand to verify), and they have a moment of truth regarding a claim Sarah made about herself on a previous episode. Instagram: @talking.over.youTikTok: @talking.over.you.podcast

Palm Springs, drop bars, and entomology (ft. their friend Dani)

The Sturms are traveling this week, and luckily, that means that they can be joined by their friend Dani. She talks about meeting Sarah while racing cyclocross in the 2010s and her decision to step away from the professional side of the sport to pursue her non-cycling-related career. She also brings along one of her pet snakes. But first, Sarah and Hannah talk about trail etiquette, the Palm Springs airport, and Life Time’s decision to ban drop bars at Leadville.Shoutout to Easy Coffee Roasters for sponsoring this episode. Leg shaving, techy talky, and Scrub Daddy

This week on the show, the Sturms are diving headfirst into the bike world again with the latest edition of techy talky. This time, they’re talking tires, which will either ruin them or reveal a surprising amount of knowledge. With only a few detours into the realms of F1, hockey smut, and thread counts, they manage to impart quite a bit of bike-related information. Dylan shows up a little late in the game for some fact-checking, but who needs it when Hannah turns out to be something of a genius in the area? First, though, the sisters are talking about the end of influencers, the best way to shave your legs, and the Spotify Wrapped equivalent of porn.Shoutout to Easy Coffee Roasters for sponsoring this episode. Graphite gals, fast food, and how to get started with outdoor adventuring

This week on the show, the Sturms are talking about scheduling, namely the stressful yet necessary task of sifting through all the competing gravel events in the U.S. and abroad and choosing which to prioritise. They have some questions about names, whether Hannah is ready to be a spectator at some of the largest races, and if Sarah can do an Australian accent (she cannot). Then, they discuss the even more urgent topic of fast food. Which burger and soft drink combo tastes the best after a particularly challenging outdoor adventure, and which establishment does it best? Speaking of outdoor adventuring, they also answer a listener question about how you get started with bikepacking and backpacking if you have little to no experience. Not surprisingly, Sarah and Hannah have very different preferences when it comes to being outside, but they agree on a lot when it comes to getting started. Shoutout to Easy Coffee Roasters for sponsoring this episode. The boy aquarium, New Year’s resolutions, and imposter syndrome

As the year draws to a close, the Sturm sisters are in very different headspaces. Hannah is all-in on reflecting on 2025 and looking ahead to the possibilities of the New Year, while Sarah is still pissed off that it rained on Christmas. She’s also pretty sure that 2025 was a failure for her on most fronts. In this episode, they pick through the wreckage of the past 12 months, argue over whether it’s more motivating to believe in yourself or fear failure, and answer a listener's question about imposter syndrome. First though, Hannah wants to dig into the very NSFW HBO show ‘Heated Rivalry,’ and Sarah wants to highlight a very impressive ride from fellow Rapha rider Cam Jones. If only she could remember what zones are.Shoutout to Easy Coffee Roasters for sponsoring this episode. Solstice singing circles, a high profile exit from cycling, and sock length

It’s festive season, and while many of us might be celebrating Christmas or Hanukkah, Hannah was gathered around a fire with 40 other people singing very earnestly about the solstice. Sarah has been thinking about venison, Alex Honnold, and a high-profile retirement from a young cyclist. Later, both sisters answer listener questions about sock length, zones, books, snacks, and crit racing. Shout out to RoadiD for sponsoring this episode. Birthdays, thousands of pinto beans, and sponsorship Tetris

Sarah and Hannah are on their own again this week and they’re feeling nostalgic about the time Hannah ate dog food as a kid and that one year when they got laundry baskets for Hanukkah. Sarah also had a birthday this week which brings up some old grievances about being a December baby. Plus, they talk about the Tetris game of finding and maintaining sponsors as a gravel privateer. Instagram: @talking.over.youTikTok: @talking.over.you.podcast

Iz King talks over Sarah and Hannah about having a baby as a gravel privateer

When Iz King found out she was pregnant a year ago, she was in the middle of contract negotiations for another season as a pro gravel privateer. Throughout her pregnancy and the birth of her now three-month-old daughter, she navigated the opportunities and challenges posed by being one of the first prominent athletes in this niche of the sport to go through the experience. Iz joins Sarah and Hannah to share some real talk about what this past year has been like, from deciding when to tell her sponsors, to her choice to keep racing throughout her pregnancy, to the gnarly details of labor, recovery, and figuring out how to be a parent for the first time.Shout out to Road iD for sponsoring this episode. Sarah and Hannah talk over their mom (ft. Margie Weinstein)

The day after Thanksgiving, Sarah and Hannah sat down with their mom, Margie (you might know her from the Spotify comments section), to set the record straight on various points of sibling rivalry, ask questions about her life as an artist and teacher, and talk over each other. Hannah is hormonal, Sarah is unpacking some rage issues, and Margie has an unconventional way of telling stories. Shout out to Road iD for sponsoring this episode. Sarah’s eyesight, maternity leave in cycling, and a very sister-coded performance review

The Sturm sisters got down to business this week by going to the bank, and not surprisingly, hilarity ensued (at least for them). Sarah has also been taking full advantage of the off-season by getting back into mountain biking, and the results have been alarming enough that she’s pretty sure she needs glasses. Hannah has some book recommendations, a very NSFW Facebook Marketplace find, and some harsh feedback regarding Sarah’s recent appearance on a different podcast. In more serious territory, they discuss contract season, especially the grey area around female pros who become pregnant while on WorldTour teams and as privateers. Shoutout to bowling, the guy at the bank, functional sports bras, Sarah’s nail tech, and saying LOL.Also, shoutout to Silca for sponsoring this episode. The 2026 Grand Prix roster, tattooing, and lucha libre

The Sturm sisters are back together in the studio this week and they have a lot to talk about. First up is the 2026 Life Time Grand Prix roster, which was announced last week and which, to Hannah’s shock, included Sarah. When the announcement came down, Sarah was in Mexico City getting a tattoo and had no idea if she’d made the list. Then, they talk about the importance of taking breaks, even from your favorite hobbies. Hannah’s relationship with tattooing is evolving, and it’s got both Sturms feeling philosophical. Lastly, Sarah talks about going to a lucha libre match in Mexico City. She bought a mask for the occasion, which it turns out is a little more than Hannah can handle. Shoutout Silca for sponsoring this episode. Mexico City, the unique challenges of female pro athletes, and farting in planes

Sarah is in Mexico City this week at yet another wedding and has had a blissfully bike-free few days. Hannah, meanwhile, has gotten back into running thanks to all that New York City Marathon talk last week. In this episode, the Sturm sisters chat about Sarah’s experience in her new favorite city, her time in the baby PeaceCorps in high school, and Hannah’s re-entry into running. Then, they dive deep into the challenges of being a female pro athlete in your mid-30s, including the decision about when or whether to have children, the pressures of diet culture, and the increasingly younger crop of new racers. Last but not least, Sarah has a theory about plane farting that ties into the conversation about the Cart Narc way back in episode two.Shoutout Silca for sponsoring this episode. Naked trail work, rats, and the New York City Marathon

Both Sarah and Hannah were busy attending weddings last week and they returned with stories to tell, including one that involves multiple instances of outdoor nudity. Hannah’s trip contained both packrafting and a day in Vegas, while Sarah’s involved a plane companion so unpleasant that it ruined her anniversary. Later, they discuss pet wrangling, Gravel Burn, and Sarah’s mysterious rash, but mostly, they just want to spread un-fact-checked thoughts on the New York City Marathon. Use code TALKINGOVERYOUBLACKFRIDAY for an extra 5% off Silca's pre-Black Friday sale between November 6th and 10th.Instagram: @talking.over.youTikTok: @talking.over.you.podcast

Halloween costumes, Grand Prix changes, and trad wives

It’s Halloween week, and you better believe that the Sturm sisters have dressed accordingly. Sarah is settling into her off-season, Hannah is headed to Vegas, and they’re both still a little prickly about a scheduling conflict they had to sort out before sitting down to record. They reminisce over some of their favourite Halloween costumes, discuss the big changes coming to the Life Time Grand Prix in 2026, and contemplate various gender inequities in the sport. Tangents include sex dungeons, lobster, and football season. Shoutout to Silca for sponsoring this episode. Big Sugar recap, witches of southwestern Colorado, and marriage counseling (ft. Dylan Stucki)

This week, the Sturm sisters welcome their first guest, Sarah’s mechanic/husband, Dylan Stucki. He’s here to tell everyone exactly how difficult Sarah is to live and work with, and Hannah is here to make sure he doesn’t skimp on details. He also provides a peak behind the scenes on what it’s like to be the support crew during elite races. But first, Sarah recaps Big Sugar, her final race of the season, which was cut from 100 miles to 50 miles due to weather. More importantly, though, she talks about the Gravel Rave that came after. Plus, Hannah shares a story about one of her favorite customers.Shoutout to Silca for sponsoring this episode. Titanic, techy talky, and Keegan's luteal phase

The Sturms are back in the studio this week and have a lot to catch up on. Hannah went to Albuquerque and got a dulcimer update, Sarah flew business class back to the US from Spain, and both of them are feeling reflective about the career paths they could have taken in an alternate life. In the realm of bikes, they get in way over their heads trying to explain (and define) chain waxing, from crock pots and Vegas to a word that neither of them can pronounce. Then, they dig into all the cycling drama that happened last week, including upsets at the Ironman World Championship, carnage at Little Sugar, a quibble with wardrobe at the final XCO World Cup of the season, and some serious Dutch drama at the Gravel World Championships.Shoutout to Silca for sponsoring this episode. Race photography, phlebotomy, and the dominance of Focaccia

Sarah is still in Spain, but instead of lining up for her own race this week, she was busy chasing Alex Roszko up and down mountains (on foot, no less) trying to get the perfect shot of Dylan during his enduro race. Hannah is gearing up for a trip to Albuquerque but was, unfortunately, home long enough to have a toe-curlingly awkward conversation with her doctor while getting her blood drawn. The sisters sat down to hash out their weeks, discuss the latest world championships in cycling, and do their best to properly identify one of the most common terms in the sport. Ranxo Gravel recap, Hannah’s hair gel, and Americans in Europe

Sarah is finally racing again, and her latest event was a big one — Ranxo Gravel in Spain, the final round of the Gravel Earth Series. Meanwhile, Hannah has been busy dealing with business stuff, reading memoirs, and making her own hair gel. They sit down this week to recap Sarah’s race, including her time in Spain, her unsuccessful efforts at speaking the local language, and what she’s learned about how not to look like an American while in Europe. Then, Hannah tries to explain some sign language slang, convince Sarah that the hair gel she made definitely isn’t what you think it is, and reminisce over how she and her partner fell in love via inReach messages.Shoutout Garmin for sponsoring the show this week. Schwag, snot rockets, and the American Girl Dolls of gravel

Sarah has finally recovered from her illness, which can only mean one thing: shoutouts are back in full force. She and Hannah discuss everything from bear-proof trash cans to Beanie Babies this week, and somehow manage to find the time to talk about the revelatory factoid Levi Leipheimer once shared with Sarah (about peeing, of course). Mostly, though, they’re focused on cycling outfits, the etiquette of group rides, and who various pro cyclists would be if they were American Girl Dolls. Shoutout Garmin for sponsoring the episode.Instagram: @talking.over.youTikTok: @talking.over.you.podcast

Dressage, hot spring snorkeling, and the pressures of being a pro cyclist

Sarah didn’t race this week because, as it turns out, she actually was sick. During her time off the bike, she finally had time to listen to a cycling podcast, and it led to some philosophical and downright existential thinking on being a professional racer. Meanwhile, Hannah went on a trip to Yellowstone National Park, which provided its own revelations. Jorts, snorkeling, lost hats, and yet another bathroom-related horror were on display, all of which led her to conclude that she was right not to invite Sarah. Shoutout Garmin for sponsoring this episode. It’s been a rough week for the Sturm sisters. Paramedics were called, flights were missed, and dulcimer videos were watched. In this episode, they sort through the wreckage, chat about the US’s success at the mountain bike World Champs, and discuss a harrowing underwear-based experience Sarah once had in the men’s bathroom at the Barcelona airport. They also talk about Hannah’s reconnection with the TikTok algorithm and how Sarah is feeling about the end of the 2025 racing season. Shoutout Garmin for sponsoring this episode.
