    059. The Truth About Wine & Health (From a Sommelier)

Drop us a line or voice note!Is wine actually healthier than beer, seltzers, or cocktails, or is that just good marketing? In this episode of Taste Toast Travel, we're diving into one of the most debated questions in food and drink culture: can wine fit into a healthy lifestyle? With John’s background as a Certified Sommelier and both of our experience working in the wine industry, we unpack the science, myths, and nuance behind wine’s so-called “health halo.”We start by addressing the most important truth upfront: no alcohol is inherently healthy, and moderation (or choosing not to drink at all) is always key. From there, we explore why wine has long been associated with health benefits, where those ideas come from, and how they stack up against what current research actually shows. But we also can't avoid the broader context of today’s drinking culture, including the rise of sober-curious lifestyles, shifting generational habits, and the economic and cultural factors influencing how (and why) people drink now.Along the way, we compare wine to beer, hard seltzers, and cocktails, breaking down calories, sugar, additives, and alcohol content—and explaining why some “healthier” options may not be what they seem.Download our free guides! https://tastetoasttravel.com/freebieConnect with us and learn more:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tastetoasttravel_Website: https://tastetoasttravel.com/Email: [email protected] our mailing list: https://tastetoasttravel.myflodesk.com/subscribeLeave us a voice note! https://www.speakpipe.com/TasteToastTravelEnjoy 15% off at Wine Girl with Tara's discount code!
