    High blood pressure is a leading risk factor for heart disease and stroke, yet many people go undiagnosed or struggle to monitor their numbers consistently. The American Heart Association in collaboration with Blue and You plan to change that with their initiative to offer blood pressure kits at Southeast Arkansas Regional Library System locations. Brady Lacy, Senior Community Impact Director at the American Heart Association in Little Rock Arkansas joins us to share everything about this special program.

    Episode 44 - "TeleLactation: Supporting Breastfeeding Through Virtual Care"

    In this episode, Karina Leal Vargas from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences shares the development and implementation of a TeleLactation pilot designed to support breastfeeding mothers during the demanding postpartum period. The conversation highlights how virtual lactation care brought expert support directly into the home, helping mothers who were exhausted, overwhelmed, or unable to attend another in-person appointment. Listeners will learn how telelactation reduced barriers such as transportation and limited outpatient services while strengthening breastfeeding knowledge, confidence, and continuation.

I'm Brian Lee, one of the content creators for the south central Telehealth resource center and the UAMS Institute for Digital Health and Innovation. Welcome to Telehealth Talk. I was able to have a conversation with Dr. Sarah Rhoads Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and Hannah McCoy Research Associate for the former UAMS Center for Distance Health, it’s now called the UAMS Institute for Digital Health and Innovation. Dr. Rhoads and Hannah are part of a team whose Telelaction study aimed to utilize technology to aid in breastfeeding education.
