The Dad Life

In this episode we look at what a slanderer and gossip are and how they are harmful to our daily walk with Christ. We ought to be careful to not slander others. Far too often we catch ourselves saying things about people that may or may not be true, and if it is not true then we are slandering an individual in a way that is not honoring to Christ.

Vulnerability is tough, but it is through being vulnerable is where we can find the strongest bond between humans. As men, it is tough to share some of our deepest struggles with other people, but it is when we are vulnerable with others is where we will find ourselves involved in some of the best relationships in our lives. I hope this episode encourages you to find a good friend to become vulnerable with!

In this episode we explore the reality of how comfort is an idol that many men in our society worship. Time Keller has an amazing book called Counterfeit gods where he goes into depth on the reality that we has humans celebrate certain idols. Tim Keller specifically mentions 4 idols: comfort, control, power, and acceptance. In this episode we explore the dangers of the idol of comfort and how to avoid it.

"Be imitators of me, as I imitate Christ" these are Paul's words to the Corinthian Church. The words are simple, yet impactful. Our kids will imitate us, whether we like it or not, and it is through that imitation that they will build their own character. Like the Apostle Paul, we too will influence our kids to where they will imitate us. We have to make sure that we imitate a good character so that our kids do the same. And when we fall short of having a good character, we acknowledge that to our kids too.

In America so many Christians have flipped the script. We make everything so political, that we have lost the center of it all: The Triune God. So many of us do not study theology anymore, and we make excuses for it. But it is the study of theology that will help us realign ourselves with the truth: this world does not need politics, it needs the gospel.

"Respect isn't given, it is earned" is a modern day mantra in the US, but biblically speaking respect is something that is gained from us giving it. Respect is something that all men desire to have from their peers, and it can be obtained by not listening to the world, but by listening to Jesus. Matthew 7:12 says, "So in everything, do unto others as you would have them do unto you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." We treat others how we want to be treated, this is the way.

Love and respect are two things every marriage needs, but what does it look like for a wife to show respect to her husband? the Bible gives us a clear answer and the culture we live in does not give us a good example of what respect looks like. Let's explore this concept of respect.

Social media is an addiction that many of us have, but do we know how to combat that addiction? In this episode, I talk about the signs of addiction and how to overcome those addictions. I hope this episode helps.

In this weeks episode, I really try to focus in on the importance of raising our kids to become a Christian vs. raising them thinking they are already a christian. If they know the difference, that makes all the difference. Treat them like unbelievers, tell them about Jesus, live like you love Jesus, and pray with and for them.

Gentle Parenting is a parenting style that is being prompted by the culture and rejected by the church as a whole. I don't go into gentle parenting in this episode, I mainly focus on the importance of a father and how we, as men, ought to be raising our kids the way that Paul says in Ephesians 6:4. The title is misleading, because it isn't a secret. A happy marriage starts when you decide to love your wife the way Christ lived the church. Once we love our wives sacrificially, our marriage will be a happy one.

Sensuality is the root behind impurity in the Christian life. We must fight for purity because in turn we are fighting for our Christian walk, our marital relationship, our children, and our friendships. Consequences to sin last a life time, and sin, like adultery, does not happen in a moment, it is a process that we must be able to see and stop. We stop it by relying on the Spirit of God to work in our hearts and minds.

What does it mean to be a Godly person? How do we achieve it? There is a simple answer: discipline. Now the answer is simple but the application is heavy, hard, and requires serious work. If you are willing to put in the work to be trained in godliness, then tune in and lets get in Spiritual shape.

In this episode I share why I think it is important for us as men to be Godly above all else. The culture of today is to be an Alpha male, but I don't even know if anyone can truly tell me what that means. I think as christians we should look to be Godly and not alpha. What is a friend? A friend is someone who is faithfully by your side and will be honest with you no matter what. Do you have someone in your life who is like that? Do you have a close friend? If not, pray that you find one, if so, hold on to that gem! I pray this episode is encouraging to you!

He who finds a wife finds a good thing! What a hard statement when it comes to those who are single. When you're single, you are trying to find a wife. Pray that you find one and once you do pursue her till the day you die! Being married is an amazing experience and the Lord blesses us when we find a wife, pursue that wife, and we treat her how she ought to be treated!

Yes, the title is a bit misleading. Because understanding your wife will always be a work in progress, but I hope this episode can be a help to get some of us on the right track of how we ought to at least attempt to understand the person God has chosen to be our other half. What kind of kids are we intending to raise: thankful kids or ungrateful kids? We all tend to complain and be unthankful for the blessings we have, but unfortunately our kids will mimic what we say and do. So as Christians, we must always be thankful...primarily because of our salvation, but also because God has blessed us with many reasons to be thankful. Let us, as parents, choose wisely.

Are you a blessed man? Well, I hope the answer is yes. The blessed man is one who delights in the law of God and abides in his word. I have a challenge for you this week, memorize Psalm 1:1-2 with me so that we can work towards being a blessed man who is influenced by the word of God and not the world.
