The Girls Wing

Circling back to a topic we touched on around this time last year, we had it on our hearts to dive into a discussion on divisiveness and political idolatry. As Christians, our call and responsibility is to love God and love one another. We are called to live in unity and humility. We hope that this episode helps challenge all of us to pause when we see things in our social media feeds and think about what the heart behind the post is or what it's rooted in. The call to walk in love requires checking our own hearts to be sure, to the best of our abilities, we're finding the right balance as we speak the TRUTH IN LOVE.

Our co-host, Angel, is officially done with her teenage years!! After celebrating her 20th birthday, we sat to talk through some of the lessons and Scriptures she's been growing in as she steps into this new season of adulthood. We also went on a fun trip down memory lane and shared some exclusive family stories (that we did call our brother and ask for his permission to share).

We're back with another Bible Study episode where, this time, we're deep diving on the call of Gideon and his miraculous victory over the Midianites. Our challenge for you this week: Think of someone you know who seems to really have a special call or anointing on their life. Much like God called that out of Gideon, even though we have no evidence that Gideon would have seemed or felt like a mighty/valiant warrior, we want you to take some time this week to intentionally call out the light you see in them. You never know, it might just be the God-breathed encouragement they need to step out of fear and hiding and step into God's promises for them.

In our last episode, we discussed the importance of deeply studying the Bible and some approaches to doing so. This time, we put that into practice and wanted to share our thoughts on the story of the man with the shriveled hand. Reference for the story: Matthew 12:9-14, Mark 3:1-6, and Luke 6:6-11 Challenge for this week: Reflect & Surrender - what is your greatest area of shame? If Jesus were to ask you to "stretch it out", exposing it completely in a public setting without knowing how or why He would use it, would you trust Him enough to do it?

How often do you truly dig deep and study the Word of God? In this episode, we talk about the difference between reading the Bible and studying it, the importance of diving deeper, and what that looks like in practice for both of us.

This is probably the last topic we ever would have expected to dive into on the podcast but, with it being election season in the US, we wanted to share some thoughts on how to approach political conversations with love, grace, and empathy.

Disappointment and discouragement are SO sneaky! The enemy plants seeds that often times go unnoticed until we hit a season of life where those seeds are watered and begin to produce. We hope this episode gives you some Biblical promises and tangible action steps to help fight or uproot disappointment in your heart. We also discuss the power that is found in fasting when we do it the right way - the Spirit-filled way. Fasting is hard but, when done to really honor God, it can be so incredibly fruitful. We want God's best for you! Sometimes fasting is the catalyst to help you get there.

'Tis the season to give thanks for the many blessings God has given us. As we are preparing for Thanksgiving, let us challenge you to view gratitude in a different light. In this episode, we dive into why gratitude is important, not just to keep our attitudes and hearts in check, but to also create space for us to experience peace and greater faith.

"The Girls Wing" name comes from the section of the Walker Family house where all 3 girls' rooms were together. As we discuss the value of finding and cultivating an "iron sharpening iron" community, we challenge you with the question of who is in your wing. Who are the people you are doing life side-by-side with, who are able to help champion, strengthen and encourage you when you need it most? And who are you committed to doing the same for in return? If you have not found anyone like that in your community, we're praying with you that God will reveal to you who He's strategically placed in your path to walk alongside you in this season. He designed us for community and, in His perfect love for us, wants us to embrace the beautiful fulness of all that blessing brings.

As somewhat of a followup to our last episode (We're All Worship Leaders), join us in discussing what it means and can look like to glorify God in our day-to-day lives.

Worship is more than music. It's anything that serves as an expression of our love, gratitude, and adoration for our Heavenly Father. In this episode, we discuss what worship means to us and what it looks like to lean into to being worship leaders every day in our own lives, whether we're given an official platform or not.

Who are the people God has placed around you in your direct circles of influence that you can be more intentional about shining your light to? We have recently felt very challenged and empowered by God to lean into the challenge to pray for our circles and proactively look for ways to share Jesus with our friends who may not be on this faith walk with us. We'd love to invite you all to choose to lean into this challenge alongside us because you have no idea how God might show up and move in their hearts!

What does your faith mean to you? Who is God to you? How have you seen or experienced Him for yourself? Is your faith rooted in truths and beliefs that you've established for yourself, or are you still leaning on the faith, teachings, and beliefs of others - blindly adopting them as your own?

Now that Alyssa is out of "the wind" with her housing situation & trust journey with God, she shares how she's been doing coming out of that season of intense uncertainty. Stability does not always ensure that anxiety and depression don't present themselves. With that in mind, in this episode, we talk a little bit about what those moments can look like in our lives and some practical methods we use to try to stand against it. After hearing about Angel's reflections on the Barbie movie, we got into a bit of a deep dive on how to define identity and purpose and shared some of the ways we are learning to redefine those terms in our own lives as God walks us through areas that they've become tainted by society.

Angel got to experience CIY Move (a 5 day summer camp) with her church youth group and came back with such powerful stories and testimonies of how she saw God move. We pray her stories ignite your faith and inspire you to sit down and pray about what it is that you can surrender in your life to yourself to draw nearer to God. When you seek Him earnestly, you WILL find Him!

For this episode, you'll hear from Alyssa on what this season of trusting God has looked like as she believes for His goodness and favor in the home-buying process - a journey that has looked nothing like she would have imagined.

This month, we got to go to the Taylor Swift concert together! Shoutout to our dad, Jason Walker, for fighting for those tickets...and paying for them.
