Date: March 2, 2026 Text: 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 and Selected Scripture This sermon was preached at the funeral service of Mrs. Betty Smith who was a faithful member of Boe Road Baptist Church in Grand Bay, Alabama where she and her husband, Gordon, and their daughter, Wendy, attended faithfully for many years. Later, she was a member of Grace Baptist Church, also in Grand Bay, although she was unable to attend in those closing years of her life. She was a faithful woman who had a strong testimony of salvation and a strong love for the Lord. She was a blessing to everyone who was blessed by God to know her. We must be willing to surrender everything to God for the salvation of our eternal souls that Jesus has given us.

No doubt they each wondered, and asked God, "why do things have to be the way they are?" A great contention arose between them, which revealed how far out of line they both were with God's will. God, however, was very patient with them and worked in their lives to reconcile them to His will. At the same time, in spite of their sinful attitudes, God also used these two sisters in key roles in His great plan of redemption as presented throughout the Bible.
