The Mountaintop Gospel

A podcast of weekly recorded sermons from Bald Mountain Baptist Church. We are located in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, and we hope to utilize this platform to play some small role in carrying the gospel from our neck of the woods to the ears of those beyond our community and to the ends of the earth!

The Battle Belongs to the Lord

Ephesians 6:10-20Bother Will Dicus brought a powerful message on spiritual warfare and the armor of God. In a day where everyone tries to come up with a materialistic to explain everything, the Bible is clear. We face a real enemy in the spiritual realm, and if we are not prepared to fight we will be easily taken down. God gives us everything we need in order to withstand Satan's attacks and be steadfast and immoveable in our faith!Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. For January and beyond, we will be focusing on the Vision of the church, praying that God will help us to reach the Shumont community and to grow as a church. Pastor Cory is also making his way through the book of Ephesians in his messages, but is taking a break from that as well during this season. We at Bald Mountain Baptist Church are so glad you have joined us here, and our prayer is that you are blessed by this message! The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. Our prayer is that through this platform we might do our part in reaching the ends of the earth with the gospel!Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.Isaiah 42:10-11++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Troy Westmoreland and Cory Martinez are the co-pastors of Bald Mountain Baptist Church. They alternate on a semi-regular basis, and our prayer is that their insights from the Word of God may richly bless all those who stop by our neck of the woods! Please feel free to reach out to us through their email if you have any questions, concerns, prayer requests, encouragements, etc.:[email protected]@fruitland.edu

    Window Dressing (Sardis)

Revelation 3:1-6Pastor Troy brings us another powerful word regarding the church from the book of Revelation! The church at Sardis was much like the city in which it dwelt. They appeared to be doing well on the outside, yet Jesus knew their hearts. See, we can fool others all day long, but Jesus has the perfect and all-knowing Spirit of God, who searches and knows the hearts of man. May we be individuals and a part of a collective body who are not just putting on a show, but are truly filled with the Spirit of God and on fire for Him.Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. The Sanctity of Life

Exodus 2:1-10 Pastor Cory brought us a very inspiring message for Mother's Day today! He expounds the story of Moses' mother, when she laid him in the river instead of throwing him in to die. She could not let the law of the land or any pressure of man cause her to bring harm to her baby. She is an excellent picture of how a mother is supposed to fight to protect her children, as well as an example of someone who truly values God-given life. Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. The Depths of Satan (Pergamos)

Revelation 2:18-29Pastor Troy is back this week in our series on the churches of Revelation. He reminds us that these messages are still tied to the vision of the church. The Risen Lord had a message for His church during these difficult time in the church's history, and He has a message for us today. The church of Pergamos had let sin make its way all the way into the pulpit, their comprise had led to open allowance of idolatry and sinfulness. If we are not careful, the sin in our own lives grows and grows until we become complacent and the next thing we know our lives look completely different than how God outlines for us in His Word. The Lord will allow sickness and trials in our lives and in our church to direct our attention back to Him and show us our need for repentance.Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. The Prodigal Son

Luke 15:11-32This past Sunday we had the pleasure of hearing a sermon from one of our new church members, Will Dicus, who God has called to the ministry. Brother will delivered a powerful message about Jesus' parable of the prodigal son. At some point in our lives, we all have, or will, drift[ed] away from God. Yet the Lord stands there waiting for us with open arms, ready to rejoice at our repentance. The overarching point that Will drove home to us as a church was that we are called to have the heart of the father. We ought to desire for all to come to repentance and to turn back to the Lord Jesus.Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. The Enemy Within (Pergamos)

Revelation 2:12-17Back in our series on the church, Pastor Troy brings a convicting sermon from Jesus' message to the church at Pergamos. This is a church that had held strong to the name of Jesus in the face of persecution, yet they had let their guard down and the enemy had slipped in the back door. Troy reminds us that it is the small compromises that lead to big sin. The church had allowed false doctrine and riotous living to infiltrate their congregation, now the Lord called them to repent and to call out these sinful practices. As a church, we must forsake the ways, wants, and wisdom of this world and pursue pure and holy living in Christ.Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. Jars of Clay

2 Corinthians 4:1-18Pastor Troy returns to the pulpit this week, but instead of returning to our series on the churches of Revelation, Troy delivered a message to us that he says is his heart for us as a church. Paul is essentially describing his personal outlook in ministry to the church at Corinth. While Paul was called to the vocational ministry of the gospel, this text is a mirror in which we must look at our own lives as believers. Paul says that we are all earthen vessels (jars of clay), and we have been given a great treasure that God desires for us to share with the world. The Lord has given every one of us areas in our lives where we are called serve and our job is to dedicate those to Him.Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. The Resurrection Life

Colossians 2:6-15; 3:1-4Happy Easter yall!!! Pastor Troy brought a powerful message concerning the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. He told us up front that this may be a little different from the Easter message we normally hear. You can never hear too much about the cross and the empty tomb, but Troy takes it a step further with this message. What does the resurrection mean for us today? Did Jesus rise simply so that we might one day experience the glory of God? We take a look into Paul's letter to the Colossians to see how Jesus' resurrection life is meant to be worked out practically in our daily lives.Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. The Teaching of Christ

John 4:1-26Pastor Cory brings us a very important message that we all need to hear from story of Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well. This woman was despised, rejected, but worst of all, ignorant to the truth of the gospel. Jesus Christ is the Messiah that has come to deliver God's truth to the world. He has come to set the record straight, but not only that, He is come to give us eternal and unending life from the Word of God. His well of truth is deep, it is thirst quenching, and it is life giving to all those who would come to draw from Him.Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. Faith in the Fire (Smyrna)

Revelation 2:8-11Pastor Troy is back this week in his series on the churches of Revelation. He reminds us, however, that Jesus' message to the church in the first century was not for them only, but for the Church of God throughout these end times. The letter to Smyrna was the shortest of the seven, but it is packed with powerful, convicting, and encouraging truth! Jesus revealed to them that some of their members were going to be cast into to prison and even be put to death, but the amazing thing is that despite this he told them not to be afraid. How about us in the contemporary church today? Can we face whatever the devil throws our way in faith, knowing that Christ will reward us when we overcome?Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. The Signs of His Coming

Matthew 24:3-14Pastor Cory brings a timely message about the events we are seeing today in these end times. Jesus not only promised that He would return, He gave signs that would precede His second coming. While much of what we are facing today in this world may be daunting and overwhelming at times, as God's people we can rest assured that our Lord is going to come back and set everything in order. May we be comforted knowing that these times are surely in the hands of God, and so are we!Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. Our First Love - Ephesus

Revelation 2:1-7Today we explored the first church Jesus spoke to in the book of Revelation, the Church of Ephesus. They were a church filled with many good works. They had rooted out evil in the church, and they had not fainted in their labors. Yet, Jesus says that He has something against them---they had left their first love. From this, we took a look at our own hearts. If this first century church, that had faced so many trials and were doing so many things, if they had lost their first love then we ought to take a look at ourselves. Pastor Troy asks the question, where has my love gone. Do I truly and sacrificially love Jesus and others like I should? What is my motivation for doing the work that I do?Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. Our Transition into Faith

Hebrews 11:1-16Pastor Cory delivered a powerful message this morning on faith from the book of Hebrews. You may have hear the "Hall of Faith" preached on before, but Cory brings this message right to us as the church of God. Faith is essential in the Christian walk, and it is what sets apart from an unbelieving world. The writer of Hebrews describes faith as almost something that is tangible, that we may grasp ahold of when the world is falling to pieces. As the church, our faith is not only a feeling, it is a substance that spurs us on to labor for the kingdom of God and not to give up the fight when things get tough.Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. The Vision of Christ to the Church

Revelation 1:1-20Pastor Troy is back in our series on Vision as we traverse God's calling to grow our church. He says the plan is to look at each of the seven churches in chapters 2 and 3 of the book of Revelation. However, chapter 1 serves us as the introduction to this series, giving us the picture of our Lord who has come to deliver the message to the churches. The most important thing to remember is that His message was not just to seven churches in Asia Minor 2000 years ago. Rather, the Lord has a specific message to His church in these latter days. That means our church, and yours as well!***we apologize for the late upload and poor sound quality of this episode. Colossians 3:12-17Pastor Cory brings us this message from the book of Colossians, relating to our series on Vision. The church at Colossae was very near to Paul's heart. They had faced many attacks by false doctrines, but perhaps their biggest foe was their own flesh. Paul encourages the church to put off their old self, and to put on the new man, which is renewed in Christ. In these verses of chapter 3, Paul is effectively telling them what a healthy body of believers is supposed to pursue. The true church of Christ is to be bound by love, to be governed by the peace of God, to be led by the Word of God, and to be encouraged by the name of Jesus!Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. Growth Means Change

Ephesians 2:19-22Pastor Troy brings us another message for our vision month. Towards the end of the message, he delivers the vision that God has given him for Bald Mountain Baptist Church, asking that we pray for God to help us grasp ahold of where He wants to take us as a church, and we ask you join us in prayer as well! To open up this message, Troy brings a powerful thought about the true essence of "growth" as a concept. Put simply, as the title states, growth means change. While the Word of Truth never changes, there are many things in our hearts and lives that must change if we desire to see growth, both personal and corporate.Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. What It Means to Walk with God

Psalm 16:1-11Pastor Cory delivers a message from this "golden" psalm of David in our new year vision month. After Pastor Troy preached about keeping Christ at the center of our lives, Cory finds it appropriate to tell us what it means to truly walk with God. You will hear a familiar verse in this psalm, as David remarks how the lines have fallen to him in pleasant places. Even in the midst of adversity and uncertainty, we can always rely on God's goodness and guidance as we seek to enact His will as individuals and as a church.Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. Christ at the Center

Lamentations 3:17-25; John 15:1-5; 1 Peter 2:1-6Pastor Troy brings us into the New Year with a message regarding the vision and direction of the church. Before we are to grow numerically or physically, the we must grow individually in our relationship with Christ. For this to happen, Christ must take priority in our lives above all else. And not only priority, He must be the very wellspring and foundation of our lives. The church is made of people, and for Christ to be the cornerstone of Bald Mountain Baptist Church, He must be the cornerstone of the hearts and lives of those who make up the church!Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. A Child That Makes ALL Things New

Isaiah 9:6-7Pastor Cory delivers a powerful message surrounding the birth of our Savior from this passage. Over 700 years before Jesus was born in the manger, God foretold of His coming through the prophet Isaiah. We see in these verses that this would not just be any ordinary king of a particular nation, He would be the everlasting King upon the throne of David. Not only that, He would be God incarnate, come to rescue His creation from sin and make all things new. This baby born 2000 years ago came for us all by the mercy and grace of God.The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Celebrating Christmas

Luke 1:26-38; Luke 2:1-20; Matthew 2:1-12Pastor Troy manages to bring a bring a message about worship out of 3 very famous Christmas passages. We find a reason from each passage the worship God for the birth of Jesus Christ. May we never forget what is the true reason for this season. The devil wants to take the Christ out of Christmas, and at the least he wants to take the worship of Christ out of this holiday. May we ever be reminded of what this time of year is all about, our Lord and Savior. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. What It Means to Have Eternal Life

Matthew 19:16-22Pastor Cory is back in the gospels with this message. In this passage, Jesus is speaking to the rich young ruler, who would not follow Jesus because of his 'great possessions.' This young man desires to know what he must do to receive eternal life, and Jesus ultimately gives him the answer he doesn't want to hear. The question for us is now, will we choose our riches in this life or in eternity? Jesus tells us what it truly means to have eternal life, and it means to follow Him. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Obedience is Worship

1 Samuel 15:1-33Pastor Troy is back in our series on worship with this message about Saul, Israel's first king. He may have been the king the people wanted, but that does not mean he was the king they needed. Saul had a knack of relying on his own wisdom and understanding. In the case of the account in today's passage, this would lead him to once again disobey the commands of the Lord. While Saul tries to minimize his sin, Samuel brings the Word of the Lord to reveal just what God thinks about the obedience of His servants. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Christ is Our Sabbath

Matthew 12:1-8Pastor Cory is back in the gospels with this message about the Sabbath. There remains a rest to come for the people of God. Yet, God has given us the Sabbath that we might find a certain rest upon this Earth. The pharisees saw the Sabbath as a restriction, but Christ shows us that it is for our blessing. He is Lord of the Sabbath, and wants us to understand that our rest ought to ultimately be found in Him, both in this life and the next. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Our Sin is Evidence of a Lack of Worship

Psalm 36:1-12Pastor Troy continues our series on worship with this message from the book of Psalms. It seems as though we have taken a very light view of sin in American Christianity, but this reveals a much deeper issue in our hearts. Our tolerance of sin reveals lack of true love and devotion for a holy God. We say that we love the Lord, yet we continually put things above Him in our hearts and lives. May this look at this psalm of David reveal to us the great disparity in our worship compared to how worthy God truly is. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. The Promised Messiah

Mark 2:1-12Pastor Cory jokes that he needs a break from the book of Ephesians, so his messages will be out of the gospels for the next few weeks. This week we take a look at the account where Jesus heals the paralytic carried to him by four of his friends. This story shows us how Jesus perfectly fulfilled the promises of God in the Old Testament for the coming Messiah. He came to preach God's Word, to release the captives from the bondage of sin, and to bring healing to our bodies. We look expectantly for the day that Jesus comes to bring the ultimate deliverance and healing at His return. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Trusting the Lord Means Putting Feet to Our Faith

Psalm 20:5-9; James 2:14-26Pastor Troy is back after a couple weeks in our series on worship with this message that really functions as a second part, or an extension of his last message: Worship Means Trusting the Lord. Giving God the glory that He is worthy of, entails placing our faith completely in Him. However, we learn from James that faith without works is not true faith. We can say that we serve a big God, but if our actions say differently than do we really trust Him? If we are not willing to put feet to our faith, stepping out and giving God the chance to display His glory through our surrendered lives, then we do not actually trust Him, nor worship Him as He deserves. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. The Wisdom in Christ

Ephesians 5:15-21Pastor Cory is back in our series on Ephesians with this message. Paul urges the church at Ephesus here to walk in wisdom and to make the best use of the time that we are given on this earth. It has been said, "Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God in bodily form." If we are to walk wisely, it will have to been through the surpassing knowledge of God in Christ Jesus. If we are to make the most of our time, we must look to our ultimate example of how to live in such a way that every moment is maximized for the glory of God, our blessed Lord Jesus. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. The Light of Christ

Ephesians 5:8-14Pastor Cory is back in our series on Ephesians with this message. The church at Ephesus was surrounded by a city that was corrupted by sin to its very core. Paul admonishes these believers to walk in the light of Jesus Christ, to have no fellowship with the works of darkness that they see around them. Our faith in Christ Jesus has changed our eternal position, and therefore it should affect the way that we conduct ourselves in this life. We ought to have a new perspective that is shifted from the base and dark things of this world to be focused on the light and life that our Savior has brought into the world. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Worship Means Trusting the Lord

Genesis 37:29-36; Psalm 20:1-9Pastor Troy does something a little different for the service this morning. We have been praying for the pastor of the church that he grew up in, who has been suffering for a few months from severe pancreatitis and has been out of church for a while. He made it there to their church a couple Sunday evenings ago and delivered a powerful message that Troy felt our congregation needed to hear. Without the video element, the impact may be somewhat lessened, however you can hear the clear difference in the man on the recording. Troy played the message for our church, and then spoke on it in regards to its application for our current context. Troy gets up and gives a brief introduction, then you will hear Pastor Bobby Helms come on for about 20 minutes, and then Troy comes back on to finish out the message. We pray that you are blessed by this sermon! The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? The Son of Obedience

Colossians 3:1-11Pastor Troy brought this message for the second night of revival. A major point of his message was that sin has lulled us into a state of apathy and indifference. The people of God in America have gotten to the place where we make light of the very sin that Christ Jesus suffered and died for. The sin in our lives is a direct affront against a holy and righteous God. The sin we take so lightly is the very sin that brought the full weight of God's wrath upon our precious Lord and Savior. We will not see revival in our nation until we learn to put the old man to death and repent of the sin that is quenching the Holy Spirit in our life and in our churches. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. Our prayer is that through this platform we might do our part in reaching the ends of the earth with the gospel! We have finally gotten our back-content uploaded, praise the Lord! What Are You Focused On?

Colossians 1:15-18Pastor Cory closes out our Sunday morning revival service with a look at the supremacy and glory of Christ as the very image of God. Going right along with Pastor Troy's earlier message, Cory calls the church to return our focus and devotion to Christ. He lifts up the Lord Jesus and tells of the beauty and splendor that Christ holds as the First and the Last, the One through which everything was made, and through which everything in creation is sustained. Christ is worthy of our undivided attention, of our personal and sold-out devotion. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. Our First Love

Revelation 2:1-5Pastor Troy opens up this Sunday morning's revival service with a brief message from the book of Revelation. Troy likens the state of our church to that of the church of Ephesus here as Jesus speaks to them. Really, Troy says that the church in America as a whole is not seeing revival because of where there hearts are with Christ. Jesus commends them for doing all the right things, but warns them that they have departed from their First Love, namely Himself. Christ calls for the church to remember how their hearts used to truly be devoted to Him, and to return to this kind of loving service. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. The God Who is Always Near

Psalm 46:1-11Pastor Cory opened up the weekend of revival at Mountain Home Baptist Church with this message out of the book of Psalms. The psalmist describes God as the refuge and strength of His people. Through all of the trials and tribulations in this life, though the earth may shake beneath us, God is immovable. The Lord is our river of grace that makes us glad even in the face of great adversity. No matter how the world wishes to try and exalt itself, bringing chaos and destruction, God is on the throne, and under His rule we may have peace and comfort. God speaks directly to the reader in the last verses of this passage. He tells us to be still, and rest in the knowledge that He is ever-present in our hour of need. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. Our Personal Devotion to Jesus

Ephesians 5:1-7Pastor Cory is back in our series on Ephesians with this message. Paul gets down to the brass tax with these first few verses in Ephesians chapter 5. Paul calls for the people of God to put feet to their faith, to walk in love as Christ has loved us, striving for a holy way of living that honors the Lord. When we devote ourselves to Christ, our lives as His followers should look different than those of the world. Paul urges the church of Ephesus not to walk in the very same ways that bring the wrath of God upon those who do not know Jesus. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. Worship Takes Gladness

Psalm 100:1-5; Psalm 126:1-3; Acts 2:22-28, 36-47Pastor Troy is back in our series on worship with this message. He says there is a crucial element missing to our worship: gladness. Psalm 100 tells us to make a joyful noise to the Lord, and to serve Him with gladness. Troy cuts right to the heart as he asks the question: are we singing the words of our songs from just emotionless memory, or are we singing with joy and gladness? Worship is much more than just singing, it is the heart behind our song. Our whole lives are meant to be lived in worship. Are we living and serving God with gladness? Are we truly thankful to the Lord for all that He has done? Do we have the joy of the Lord? The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. The Church's Cry

Luke 19:28-40; Psalm 148:1-14; Matthew 3:7-12If God's people do not worship Him, who else will? Pastor Troy asks this question in his message on worship. Jesus says that the very stones will cry out in praise if His people keep silent. He also says that God could raise up children even from the stones themselves. The Church's main function is to proclaim the praises of God, and their cry ought to be lifted up from every corner of this Earth. If God's people do not go about praising Him, the Lord will raise up children who will shout His glory from the rooftops. God will get His glory one way or the other. Will the cry of the church be heard? Will you praise Him today? The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. Our Personal Demonstration of Faith

Ephesians 4:17-24Pastor Cory in this message really leans into the application Paul supplies to us in the later half of the book of Ephesians. All of the doctrine that the apostle outlines in Ephesians 1-3 is driving towards this point: put off the old man and put on the new man. Christ Jesus has come to completely restore the broken image of God in man, and we are called to actively demonstrate our faith in Him as we seek to put the old, darkened, sin-corrupted man to death and live in the newness of life that He provides. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. What is Worship?

John 4:21-24; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Romans 12:1-2; Galatians 2:20-21Pastor Troy takes us back to the very foundation of worship as he attempts to answer the question, "what is worship?" All of his messages have really been leading to this one point: worship is giving God the glory in every area of your life. There is no time when we are not worship God, and there is nothing in our lives that God does not desire us to worship Him in and through! Take a moment with us today and consider how you can live your very life in such a way that is considered to be worshipping God. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. The Ability of the Church

Ephesians 4:7-16Pastor Cory takes us back to our series on the book of Ephesians with this powerful message on all that the church is able to accomplish in and through Christ Jesus. Conversely, Christ Jesus alone has the ability to work these things in and through His people. The One who ascended to the right hand of the Father is the same One who first descended from glory to bring His life and light to mankind. Through Christ's earthly ministry, we se how we are meant to function as God's people. Through His heavenly ministry, we are now supplied with everything we need in Him to preform the work His has left for His church in this present age. We desperately need the grace of Jesus Christ as week seek to operate in the gifts He has promised to His disciples. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. When You Worship and When You Don't

Daniel 1-6No, you didn't misread that scripture reference. Pastor Troy walks us through the first six chapters of the book of Daniel, taking us through many familiar biblical accounts, all in the context of worship. While God had sent His people away captive in Babylon, He was far from done working in them and through them. Daniel and his friends, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, refuse to worship anyone or anything but the One True God. Through their obedience, we see what results when we worship God. Through the pride and idolatry of the Babylonians, we see what results when we don't worshiping God. God's message from the book of Daniel is His ultimate supremacy and His worthiness to be worshipped. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. A Profound Relationship

Matthew 17:1-8Pastor Cory is taking a break this week from our series on Ephesians to bring us a powerful message on the account of Jesus Christ's transfiguration. More than just a story depicting the true nature of our Lord's divinity, the transfiguration teaches us a lesson on the nature of what our relationship with Him ought to be. He is more than a teacher, more than a prophet, more than a hyper-spiritual being. He is all of these and so much more. Jesus is the Son of God, God in the flesh, the Messiah, our Savior and Lord. Our relationship with Him ought to be personal, Spirit-filled, and guided by God. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. The Unity of Christ

Ephesians 4:1-6Pastor Cory is back in our series on Ephesians with this message starting the second-half of the book. The first half of Ephesians was all doctrine. Beginning here in chapter 4, Paul is moving to practical application of this doctrine in our lives as believers. And what does he start with? Unity. The apostle knows that nothing in our walk with God will be as fruitful as Christ desires if we are not unified as a body of believers (i.e. His church). Our common faith in Christ unites us deeper than we can imagine if we will only set aside our trivial differences for what trumps anything that can divide us, our Lord, Savior, and Redeemer. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. Our Praise is a Proclamation

1 Peter 2:9-10; Isaiah 49:3-7; Isaiah 61:1-4, 10-11; Luke 24:50-53Pastor Troy picks up right where he left off in the last message with an even further dive into our purpose as God's people to worship Him. While there ought not to be any more reason to worship the Lord other than the simple fact that He is worthy of it, we find in this message a clear application of the phrase, "God's glory is for our good." While God truly merits our souls' best song, our praise accomplishes bringing glory to God in more ways than one. Our praise is meant to be a public declaration to a lost and dying world that God is so much better than anything they have been chasing their whole lives. Our praise is meant to be a beacon that draws those in the darkness to the light of God's salvation in Christ. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. John 4:19-26; Isaiah 43:1-7, 14-21; 1 Peter 2:9-10Pastor Troy ended his last message on worship in John 4, speaking on worshipping the Holy Spirit. He picks up this message in the same passage, but tackles it from a very different angle. There is a small phrase in John 4 which Troy wishes to bring our attention to, "...the Father is seeking such to worship Him." We all know the most famous question in the world: "What is the meaning of life?" Could it be that the purpose of our lives is not found in what we have done or what we can accomplish? Could it be that God has given us a purpose that is far greater in scope than anything we could ever imagine...? The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. Our prayer is that through this platform we might do our part in reaching the ends of the earth with the gospel! We are working on getting our back-content uploaded, please bear with us. We  are now in our series on Worship, and will be continuing in this series for the foreseeable future. Pastor Cory is also making his way through the book of Ephesians in his messages. We at Bald Mountain Baptist Church are so glad you have joined us here, and our prayer is that you are blessed by this message!Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. The Provision of Christ

John 14:25-28; John 8:1-12Cory takes a break from our series on Ephesians to bring us a message from which all Christians can receive comfort. Jesus Christ our Lord has provided us with the ultimate promise of eternal life with Him. He stook His very word on it, for if it were not so He says that He would have told us. Even for someone such as the woman who was caught in adultery, someone whose sin may seem unforgiveable, Jesus Christ died on the cross, rose again, ascended to the Father, and is coming back again to bring eternal life to anyone who will repent of their sins and put their faith in His sacrifice. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. Worshipping the Holy Spirit

John 14:26; 15:26; 16:7-8; Acts 5:1-4; John 4:19-26Pastor Troy refers to this message in his sermon as Truly Complete Worship Part 3. While many people have begun to leave Jesus out of the equation when it comes to worship, many people also have a fractured view of worship as it pertains to the Godhead as a whole. This means that either 1, or 2, or all 3 of the Members of the Godhead are neglected in some form or fashion in our worship today. Pastor Troy goes about proving the deity of the Holy Spirit, and offers some theoretical and practical ways in which we may include the Third Member of the Trinity in our worship of God. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. The Fear of the Lord

Leviticus 19:1-3; Hebrews 12:5-11Last message Pastor Troy challenged us with the reality that Christ is to be glorified above every name, and that every knee shall bow to Him. However, truly complete worship is not of Christ alone, but of the entire Godhead. This Father's Day, Troy gives a heartfelt message that pulls from his own experiences growing up with his earthly father, as well as his walk with his Heavenly Father. The Bible clearly tells us to fear our Father in heaven, and while many modern minds might take issue with this, our fear of the Lord is a way that we know we truly worship Him.The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. Truly Complete Worship

Acts 8:26-40Pastor Troy looks at a very famous Bible story from Acts chapter 8 and pulls a principle from it that may not be so familiar when we think of the story. As Philip meets with an Ethiopian eunuch in a divine appointment on a desert road, there is something missing in the Ethiopian's religious observance that may just apply to us today even more than we can imagine. While the eunuch worshipped the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, there was something missing from his act of worship that many in the church today need a reminder of themselves. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. I Shall Yet Praise Him

Psalm 43:1-5Pastor Troy delivers a powerful message on praising the Lord even in the very midst of our darkest valley's and fiercest storms of life. Many can relate to the pain the psalmist is expressing in the opening of Psalm 43. However, there is a bold shift in perspective where the writer declares that he shall yet praise God even in the midst of the trial he is facing. We must learn that worship does not depend on our feelings, but rather upon the immoveable reality of God's presence even in our darkest hour of need. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. The Love of Christ

Ephesians 3:18-21Pastor Cory is back in our series on Ephesians with this message. This message is almost like the second part of his last message, The Purpose of Prayer. Paul's desire and earnest prayer for the Ephesians is that they would be filled with the fullness of Christ Jesus, experiencing His love that surpasses all knowledge and comprehension. This great love with which God has loved as merits our soul's best song, and Paul demonstrates this as he breaks out into one of his famous doxologies as he rejoices at the love of God in Jesus Christ. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC.
