How to Get Recommended by ChatGPT, Gemini & Claude | Ross Simmonds

Google is no longer the only place people look. So how do we show up in AI searches? In this episode, Nick sits down with marketing strategist Ross Simmonds to break down what businesses, creators, and entrepreneurs need to understand as discovery shifts from traditional search to ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Reddit, YouTube, and beyond. They get into query fan-out, why LLMs pull from multiple platforms at once, why YouTube may be one of the biggest opportunities in the AI era, how Reddit became a serious source of influence, why “create once, repurpose forever” matters more than ever, and how to think about attribution when AI is sending people your way in ways analytics often miss. This is a practical conversation about how to stay visible when the internet is changing under your feet. In this episode: Why traditional SEO is no longer enough How AI tools decide what brands to mention Why YouTube is massively undervalued How to use Reddit without getting banned Why great content should be repurposed relentlessly How to find real customer insight in an AI world What metrics still matter when attribution gets messy Ross Simmonds is a marketing strategist and entrepreneur focused on content, distribution, and how brands grow in a changing digital landscape. 🔗 Support This Podcast by Checking Out Our Sponsors: 👉 Build your own AI Agent with Zapier (opens the builder with the prompt pre-loaded):  https://bit.ly/4hH5JaE 👉 Test Prep Gurus: https://www.prepgurus.com Instagram: @TestPrepGurus Connect with The Nick Standlea Show: YouTube: @TheNickStandleaShow Podcast Website: https://nickshow.podbean.com/ Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-nick-standlea-podcast/id1700331903 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0YqBBneFsKtQ6Y0ArP5CXJ RSS Feed: https://feed.podbean.com/nickshow/feed.xml Nick's Socials: Instagram: @nickstandlea X (Twitter): @nickstandlea TikTok: @nickstandleashow Facebook: @nickstandleapodcast Ask questions,  Don't accept the status quo,  And be curious. How AI Is Already Changing Medicine | Dr. Peter Weir

If you think AI in medicine is still some far-off future, it’s not. Dr. Peter Weir is a family physician and health system leader, and in this conversation, he explains how AI is already changing what happens in the exam room. We get into ambient AI for medical documentation, how these tools may reduce physician burnout, where AI is already helping with clinical decision-making, and why the future of medicine will still require human judgment, trust, and real patient relationships. One of the wildest moments in this episode: Dr. Weir describes giving AI a complex cancer case and watching it generate the same treatment plan as a specialist oncologist in about 7 seconds. We also talk about: how AI is already augmenting doctors why medicine may be more vulnerable to AI disruption than people think where AI still makes dangerous mistakes why the human side of medicine still matters deeply how incentives shape the healthcare system where medicine may be headed next This is one of those conversations that makes it clear the future is arriving faster than most people realize. 🔗 Support This Podcast by Checking Out Our Sponsors: 👉 Build your own AI Agent with Zapier (opens the builder with the prompt pre-loaded):  https://bit.ly/4hH5JaE 👉 Test Prep Gurus: https://www.prepgurus.com Instagram: @TestPrepGurus 👉 Finding Mastery Course: Designed to train the mental skills that drive elite performance—confidence, clarity under pressure, recovery, trust, and self-regulation. Alan Weiss: "Stop Selling Hours. AI Will Kill That Model."

Most “business advice” on AI is noise. But if you’re building an AI-powered service, consulting business, or agency, the real bottleneck isn’t the tech... It’s positioning, pricing, and selling outcomes. Alan Weiss—author of *7-Figure Consulting* and the guy who’s been teaching value-based fees for decades—joins me to lay down the fundamentals that actually compound in an AI economy: how to stop selling time, how to package expertise, how to qualify clients fast, and how to build a business where your best work doesn’t get commoditized. We get into: - Why AI makes *outcomes* more valuable and *hours* less valuable - How to price when your delivery gets faster (and better) with AI - The difference between “deliverables” and “value” (and why clients pay for one, not the other) - Retainers, renewals, and building revenue that compounds - How to avoid becoming the cheapest prompt engineer on the internet If you sell your brain for money—and you want to keep winning as AI reshapes the market—this episode is for you. How to Future-Proof Your Kid in the Age of AI (CEO Ryan Kiick)

AI is changing school, college admissions, and the workforce faster than most parents and students realize. In this episode, I sit down with Ryan Kiick (CEO of Revolution Prep) to talk about the skills that won’t get automated, and how to use AI without becoming dependent on it. We get into the real danger of offloading thinking, why the most powerful way to use AI is to generate better questions (not just better answers), what happens to writing and the college essay in a post-ChatGPT world, and why executive functioning plus deep learning may be the biggest moat students can build. Why Your Brain Doesn't Create Consciousness: It's Always Been There (ft. Philip Goff)

In this conversation with philosopher Dr. Philip Goff, we dive into one of the deepest questions in science and philosophy: what if consciousness isn’t produced by the brain—what if it’s fundamental to reality? We explore panpsychism, the “hard-to-ignore” problem of subjective experience, why physics may describe what matter does but not what it is, and what it would mean if even the smallest building blocks of nature contain a spark of experience. The Single Mindset Shift That Unlocks Mastery | Dr Michael Gervais

Fear of other people’s opinions quietly shapes how we perform, how we speak, and who we allow ourselves to become. In this conversation, Michael Gervais—performance psychologist to Super Bowl champions, Olympic gold medalists, and Fortune 50 leaders—breaks down why the fear of judgment is one of the greatest limiters of human potential. We explore why winning and losing can become distractions, how identity gets tangled with performance, and why mastery isn’t about outcomes—but about learning to be at home with yourself, even under pressure. This episode is a deep dive into presence, self-trust, and the inner skills that matter more as the world gets faster, louder, and increasingly driven by external validation. Topics we cover: Why fear of judgment pulls us out of the present moment How performance becomes identity (and why that’s dangerous) The “messy edge” where growth actually happens Signal vs. noise in high-pressure environments Flow, mastery, and learning to work with your inner world Why elite performers train the mind—not just the body and craft What still makes us great in an AI-accelerated world Finding Mastery Course:  Michael also offers a structured course called Finding Mastery, designed to train the mental skills that drive elite performance—confidence, clarity under pressure, recovery, trust, and self-regulation. This One Shift Makes AI 10x Smarter | "Turn it from assistant to thought partner"

Most people use AI like a faster assistant. Leaders use it differently. In this conversation, Geoff Woods (author of The AI-Driven Leader) explains the shift that turns AI from a shallow productivity tool into a true thought partner—one that helps you think better, make better decisions, and unlock leverage you didn’t have before. We go deep into: *Why “better prompts” aren’t the real breakthrough *How to get AI to interview you instead of the other way around *The CRIT framework (Context, Role, Interview, Task) *A real story where AI helped a CEO find hope in 10 minutes after preparing for bankruptcy *What changes when leaders use AI for thinking, not tasks *Why this shift matters more than any specific model or tool *This isn’t about shortcuts, hacks, or automation theater. *It’s about learning how to think with AI—without outsourcing your judgment. Ex–Microsoft Insider: “AI Isn’t Here to Replace Your Job — It’s Here to Replace You” | Nate Soares

If anyone builds it, everyone dies. That’s the claim Nate Soares makes in his new book If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies: Why Superhuman AI Would Kill Us All—and in this conversation, he lays out why he thinks we’re on a collision course with a successor species. We dig into why today’s AIs are grown, not programmed, why no one really knows what’s going on inside large models, and how systems that “want” things no one intended can already talk a teen into suicide, blackmail reporters, or fake being aligned just to pass safety tests. Nate explains why the real danger isn’t “evil robots,” but relentless, alien goal-pursuers that treat humans the way we treat ants when we build skyscrapers. We also talk about the narrow path to hope: slowing the race, treating superhuman AI like a civilization-level risk, and what it would actually look like for citizens and lawmakers to hit pause before we lock in a world where we don’t get a second chance. In this episode: Why “superhuman AI” is the explicit goal of today’s leading labs How modern AIs are trained like alien organisms, not written like normal code Chilling real-world failures: suicide encouragement, “Mecha Hitler,” and more Reasoning models, chain-of-thought, and AIs that hide what they’re thinking Alignment faking and the capture-the-flag exploit that shocked Anthropic’s team How AI could escape the lab, design new bioweapons, or automate robot factories “Successor species,” Russian-roulette risk, and why Nate thinks the odds are way too high What ordinary people can actually do: calling representatives, pushing back on “it’s inevitable,” and demanding a global pause About Nate Soares Nate is the Executive Director of the Machine Intelligence Research Institute (MIRI) and co-author, with Eliezer Yudkowsky, of If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies: Why Superhuman AI Would Kill Us All. Is AI Making Us Dumber? (Can Teachers Save Us?)

Are we getting smarter with AI—or just forgetting how to think for ourselves?  In this episode, Nick answers your top questions about artificial intelligence, education, and what it means to stay human in an automated world. Today’s Big Questions: 1️⃣ Is AI making us dumber? 2️⃣ Will AI replace teachers — or finally make education fair for everyone? 3️⃣ What happens when machines outthink us??? Nick breaks down Daniel Kahneman’s System 1 vs System 2 model of the brain, explores how learning actually works (spoiler: through struggle), and explains why AI can be an amplifier — not a crutch — if you learn how to use it as feedback rather than substitution. The AI Revolution Is an Ownership Problem, Not a Tech Problem — Economist Justin Wolfers

What if the biggest threat of artificial intelligence isn’t the technology itself—but who owns it? In this wide-ranging conversation, economist Justin Wolfers (University of Michigan and University of New South Wales) joins Nick Standlea to unpack how AI is reshaping labor, wages, education, and even democracy. Wolfers explains why AI is a cognitive revolution that could mirror the Industrial Revolution’s impact on blue-collar workers—but this time, it’s coming for white-collar jobs. They discuss: Why AI might shrink white-collar wages the same way automation hit factory jobs How ownership and competition determine whether AI liberates or impoverishes society Why Nvidia, not OpenAI, might be the real power behind the revolution How education and universities must reinvent themselves in an AI world What students, teachers, and professionals can do now to stay ahead Wolfers’ clarity, humor, and economic insight make this one of the clearest explanations of AI’s long-term impact on society and policy. About the Guest: Justin Wolfers is a Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the University of Michigan and a Visiting Professor at the University of New South Wales. His research spans labor markets, happiness, macroeconomics, and public policy. Named by the IMF as one of the top 25 economists under 45 shaping global thought, Wolfers is also a frequent contributor to The New York Times and a recurring guest on Scott Galloway’s Prof G Markets. Dr Scott Barry Kaufman (SBK): “Your Trauma Doesn’t Define You” | "Choose Empowerment"

Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman (SBK) joins The Nick Standlea Show to talk about his new book Rise Above: Overcome a Victim Mindset, Empower Yourself, and Realize Your Full Potential. From his early years in special education to earning a PhD and becoming one of psychology’s most engaging voices, SBK shares powerful stories, science-backed insights, and mindset-shifting strategies for anyone looking to take back control of their life. We dive into why the victim mindset is so seductive, how social media rewards helplessness, and why sensitivity can be a superpower when embraced the right way. This is a must-watch for anyone who wants to live with more agency, authenticity, and purpose. 🎯 Big Takeaway from the Episode with Scott Barry Kaufman You are not powerless—no matter what you've been through. Victimhood may be real, but staying in a victim mindset is a choice. Empowerment begins when you stop waiting to be saved and start saying, “Yes, this happened… and now what?” Throughout the episode, SBK drives home that: Trauma doesn't have to define you. Sensitivity isn't weakness—it’s a superpower, if you own it. The algorithm—and culture—might reward helplessness, but real growth happens when you reclaim your agency. Whether you’ve faced real adversity or just feel stuck, Rise Above offers the mindset shifts, language, and tools to stop blaming the world—and start building a better one, starting from within. 👉 Like what you heard? The Cold Truth: Ice Baths, Brown Fat, and Professor Seager

Can plunging into freezing water actually boost your workouts, improve mental health, and improve libido? Professor Thomas Seager, co-founder of Morozko Forge (they built Joe Rogan's home ice bath), thinks so—and he's got the data to back it up. In this episode of The Nick Standlea Show, we dive into the emerging science behind cold exposure and its surprising effects on metabolism, mood, and stress resilience. Whether you’re a seasoned cold-plunger or cold-curious, this conversation will leave you thinking differently about discomfort, healing, and health. ⚠️ Disclaimer: This episode explores the science and personal experiences behind cold plunging as a tool for mental clarity, stress relief, and metabolic health. While many of the claims discussed are supported by emerging research, others remain anecdotal or under-studied. Cold exposure may offer real benefits, but it is not a substitute for medical treatment. Individuals with chronic health conditions—especially hypertension, thyroid disorders, or hormone imbalances—should consult a healthcare professional before starting any extreme cold therapy. The views expressed are those of the guest and do not constitute medical advice. What We Covered: ✅ How cold plunges activate brown fat and supports metabolism ✅ The "dive reflex" and parasympathetic nervous system response ✅ Why cold plunges might improve focus, resilience, and libido ✅ Whether plunging before or after workouts is a good idea  ✅ The role of cold in regulating stress and boosting mood ⚠️ Claims about diabetes, thyroid function, or testosterone remain unproven in clinical settings and need more controlled studies Takeaway: Cold plunges are a powerful form of hormetic stress—challenging in the short term, but potentially beneficial in the long term. Just like lifting weights, the key is proper use, gradual adaptation, and listening to your body. 💡 "Start cold enough to gasp, stay long enough to shiver, and always prioritize safety." 👉 Like what you heard? Make It Stick: The Science of Effective Learning | "Self-testing is key" | Mark McDaniel & Roddy Roediger III

Students often rely on ineffective study methods such as rereading and highlighting. However, these methods do not lead to deep understanding and long-term retention of information.  One effective strategy is retrieval practice, which involves testing oneself on the material to actively engage with it and identify areas of weakness. Self-testing helps students recognize what they know and what they need to review. Another important technique is interleaving or mixing up different types of practice, which better simulates real-world situations and helps students recognize cues and apply strategies accordingly. These strategies are applicable not only to academics but also to sports and other domains.  The conversation explores the concept of desirable difficulties and the importance of struggle in learning. It discusses the benefits of interleaving and mixed practice over blocked practice, as well as the challenges of implementing these strategies in the classroom. The conversation also touches on the need for objective feedback and the role of long-term retention in effective learning.  The potential for transforming the education system is discussed, with examples of schools and teachers successfully implementing these techniques. The conversation covers various topics related to effective learning, including the importance of testing and retrieval practice, the impact of AI on the legal profession, the role of test anxiety, the myth of learning styles, and the need for evidence-based instructional techniques.  The guests also discuss the positive impact of using data to track progress and the importance of experimentation and objective feedback in improving learning outcomes. Takeaways: * Rereading and highlighting are ineffective study methods that lead to familiarity but not deep understanding. * Retrieval practice, such as self-testing, helps students actively engage with the material and identify areas of weakness. * Interleaving or mixing up different types of practice is more effective than massed practice for long-term learning and real-world application. * These strategies are applicable not only to academics but also to sports and other domains. Desirable difficulties, such as interleaving and mixed practice, can lead to better long-term retention and understanding of material. * Implementing these strategies in the classroom can be challenging, as it requires a shift in teaching and learning approaches. * Objective feedback is crucial for students to recognize the effectiveness of these techniques. * The education system needs to prioritize long-term retention and understanding over short-term memorization and grades. * Examples of schools and teachers successfully implementing these techniques demonstrate their effectiveness and potential for transforming education. Testing and retrieval practice are essential for effective learning. * Test anxiety can be reduced through frequent testing and familiarization with the testing format. * Learning styles have no scientific evidence to support their effectiveness. * Data-driven learning and objective feedback are crucial for tracking progress and improving learning outcomes. * Experimentation and evidence-based practices are key to enhancing learning effectiveness. Sound Bites: "The typical student chooses to read material, highlight it, underline it, then reread it before the exam. And there's so many better ways they could be spending their time." "Retrieval practice is just simply either the teacher gives you a test or you test yourself and you start practicing getting information out of memory." "Retrieval practice produces better long-term memory, increases accuracy of knowing what you know and don't know, and increases efficiency of learning material you couldn't retrieve." "If you want people to pass the bar exam, you want them testing themselves and you testing them." The Age Dilemma: Regulating Social Media for Kids

Why does regulating social media for kids remain an unresolved challenge? This episode discusses the significant age gap in congressional leadership, highlighting the advanced ages of key figures like Chuck Grassley and Dianne Feinstein, and questions their ability to grasp modern digital dilemmas. The rant covers the alarming spread of misinformation on social media, as demonstrated by an MIT study showing that lies spread six times faster than the truth. The episode also examines the role of algorithms in promoting divisive and false content, contributing to the rising levels of anxiety, depression, and self-harm among young people. I critique the influence of lobbying efforts by tech giants like Meta, led by Mark Zuckerberg, in preventing regulatory measures. Despite these challenges, the episode ends on a hopeful note, urging collective action to protect children from the adverse effects of unregulated social media, drawing parallels to past successful public health and safety campaigns. Tune in for an insightful discussion on the intersection of technology, politics, and the well-being of our youth, and join the call to action for meaningful change.

Donald Hoffman: Consciousness, the true nature of reality, and the interconnectedness of everything

Dr. Donald D. Hoffman offers us the chance to take the red pill, stay in Wonderland, and show us how deep the rabbit hole goes. In this conversation, best-selling author of "The Case Against Reality" and UCI professor emeritus Don Hoffman takes us on a journey through cutting-edge research that points to an interconnected consciousness beyond space and time, that could potentially be the true architect of our reality (and others).  In a conversation that challenges the norms, Dr. Hoffman backs up his bold claims with research that spans evolutionary biology, game theory, neuroscience, philosophy, high-energy physics, and theoretical mathematics, and discusses his newest discovery -- 'positive geometries' that exist independent of space and time.  What is consciousness? What is death? What happens when we meditate? We discuss these questions and more. Prepare to question your most fundamental beliefs about existence as Dr. Hoffman presents his theories on the illusory nature of reality (spoiler: we're living in a simulation).   Now on YouTube! The Importance of SAT and ACT in College Admissions

In recent years, the relevance of SAT and ACT tests in college admissions has been questioned, prompting some colleges to switch to test-optional policies. However, extensive research and data analysis now suggest that this may not have been the best approach. New articles in the NY Times and Forbes reveal that standardized test scores are the single most powerful predictors of college grades, college graduation rates, graduate school placement, and job placement. Unlike high school grades, which have been marred by inflation, SAT and ACT scores provide a level playing field for assessing students' college readiness. Even for students from less privileged backgrounds, a good test score often signifies their capability to thrive in an academic setting. However, the reluctance of administrators to reintroduce standardized tests isn’t so much about concern for the fairness of the tests or the lack of knowledge about their potential benefits. It seems to be more about the potential political backlash they may encounter in doing so. The surge in applications and subsequent financial benefits a university enjoys being “test-optional” also plays a part. Thus, while many colleges may maintain their test-optional status, they increasingly favor applicants with strong SAT and ACT scores. There appears to be a growing myth that standardized tests only benefit privileged students, thereby leading to biased college admissions. This argument is challenged using data that shows the greater predictability of a student's success by standardized test scores as compared to their high school GPA. Contrary to popular belief, the SAT and ACT are seen not as hurdles but as lifelines for students from less renowned high schools – allowing them to demonstrate their potential in a widely recognized and standardized manner. As the admissions process continues to evolve, the role of standardized tests will undoubtedly remain pivotal. Though not perfect, these tests serve as substantial evidence of a student’s readiness to handle high-level academic work and are seen as a determinant of their probability of succeeding in college – and beyond. Therefore, for students looking to increase their chances of admission into top universities and earn substantial scholarships, preparing for these standardized tests might just be the secret key. We must recognize that while it may not completely eradicate the flaws in the admissions process, standardized testing does provide a more transparent, equal-opportunity platform for all students to demonstrate their capabilities and potential. Thus, until a more predictive tool emerges, standardized testing looks set to continue playing a significant role in college admissions.   Category: Nick Solo Episode    Please support this podcast by checking out our sponsor: Test Prep Gurus: https://www.prepgurus.com @TestPrepGurus https://www.instagram.com/testprepgurus/   EPISODE LINKS: NY Times, "The Misguided War on the SAT": https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/07/briefing/the-misguided-war-on-the-sat.html Forbes, "The SAT is Making a Comeback - Are You Prepared?": https://www.forbes.com/sites/christopherrim/2024/01/08/the-sat-is-making-a-comeback-are-you-prepared/?sh=1fef9615b8ea   INSTAGRAM:  - Host Nick Standlea: @NickStandlea   PODCAST INFO: - Podcast website: https://nickshow.podbean.com/ - Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-nick-standlea-podcast/id1700331903 - Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0YqBBneFsKtQ6Y0ArP5CXJ - RSS: https://feed.podbean.com/nickshow/feed.xml   SUPPORT & CONNECT: - Check out the sponsors above, it's the best way to support this podcast. - Support on Patreon: (coming soon) - Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nickstandlea/ - LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nick-standlea-43732573/ - Medium: https://medium.com/authority-magazine/nick-standlea-of-test-prep-gurus-how-to-take-your-company-from-good-to-great-491ef2c53fb9   Ask questions.
