Trust
In this episode of The Prodigal Witness, Bryan and Chris go over the profound topic of trust. What do we really trust? What do we choose not to trust, and why? They examine how misplaced trust impacts our lives and how choosing to trust God aligns us with His will. With powerful insights from the Bible, they guide us through scriptures where God calls us to trust in Him, including: Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT): "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take." Psalm 37:5 (NLT): "Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you." Isaiah 26:3-4 (NLT): "You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock." They also discuss Jesus’s teachings on trust, emphasizing the rewards God promises to those who place their full confidence in Him: Matthew 6:25-34 (NLT): Jesus reassures us that God will meet our needs if we seek His kingdom first, inviting us to trust Him rather than worry. John 14:1 (NLT): “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.” Mark 11:22-24 (NLT): Jesus teaches that faith and trust in God can move mountains. By understanding what we put our faith in and shifting our trust to God, we can experience peace, guidance, and the fullness of life He promises. #TrustInGod #FaithOverFear #BiblicalTruth #ChristianPodcast #JesusSaves #TheProdigalWitness #BibleStudy #ChristianFaith #TrustInJesus #GodsPromises #TrustJourney #YouAreNotAlone #PeaceThroughFaith #faith

A baby in the womb.. Not "a clump of cells"
In this compelling episode of The Prodigal Witness, co-hosts Bryan and Lindsay unpack the misconceptions and outright lies surrounding abortion laws, especially as they apply in states like Texas. As a Christian and registered nurse working in obstetrics, Lindsay brings a unique perspective, addressing the critical question: Are women truly denied life-saving care in cases of medical emergencies? Spoiler alert: the answer is a resounding no, as evidence and Texas law itself make clear. This episode goes beyond legal debates to examine the deeper moral and spiritual crisis we face. Why has our society grown so hardened to the value of human life—particularly that of unborn children? Bryan and Lindsay consider this troubling trend through the lens of Scripture, drawing parallels between today’s abortion practices and the child sacrifices made to Baal in ancient times. As Jeremiah 19:5 says: “They have built pagan shrines to Baal, and there they burn their sons as sacrifices to Baal. I have never commanded such a horrible deed; it never even crossed my mind to command such a thing!” (NLT). As Christians, our call is clear: we cannot support abortion and still align with God’s heart. Join us as we explore the Christian dilemma, discuss the sobering truths, and pray for wisdom and mercy from God, our ultimate source of strength and guidance. As James 1:5 reminds us, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” Whether you’re seeking answers or grappling with this issue yourself, this episode is a must-watch for understanding the profound importance of life as God’s creation. #AbortionTruth #ProLife #ChristianPodcast #Obstetrics #BiblicalTruth #TexasAbortionLaw #SaveTheUnborn #FaithOverFear #SacredLife #ProLifeNurse #ChristianCommunity #WisdomFromGod #AbortionLies #SanctityOfLife #TheProdigalWitness

S1 E10 - God's Relentless Pursuit - How He chases after us
In today’s episode of The Prodigal Witness, Bryan and Chris are getting into the incredible lengths God goes to pursue us. Have you ever felt like you’re too far gone or that God has given up on you? This episode is here to remind you that no matter how far we stray, God’s love is always reaching out, calling us back to Himself. His pursuit isn’t a chase but an unyielding invitation for us to come home, feel His grace, and experience transformation. We’ll explore powerful biblical stories that illustrate God’s relentless pursuit of His people, starting with the parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32). This story paints a beautiful picture of God’s love and forgiveness through the father’s joyous embrace when his lost son returns. "His father said to him, ‘Look, dear son, you have always stayed by me, and everything I have is yours.’" (Luke 15:31, NLT). Even when we wander, God eagerly waits to welcome us back with open arms. Next, we delve into Jonah’s story (Jonah 1-4), where God chases after a reluctant prophet who tried to run away. Despite Jonah’s resistance, God didn’t give up on him. "Then the LORD spoke to Jonah a second time: 'Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh, and deliver the message I have given you.'" (Jonah 3:1-2, NLT). God not only pursues us but also has a purpose for our lives that He longs for us to embrace. We’ll also look at the parable of the Lost Sheep (Luke 15:1-7), where Jesus illustrates God’s heart by describing a shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to find the one lost sheep. "And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders." (Luke 15:5, NLT). This powerful image reminds us that no one is too far gone for God’s reach. His pursuit is personal, and He searches for us, wherever we may be, until we’re found. God’s pursuit isn’t confined to the pages of the Bible—it’s ongoing and present in our everyday lives. Through circumstances, people around us, or a quiet stirring in our hearts, God reaches out to each of us, inviting us to experience His love. We’ll share personal testimonies and listener stories of how God has made His presence known, showing His continued pursuit in our world today. As we reflect on these examples, we’ll also discuss why God pursues us. It’s not just about forgiveness—it’s about relationship and transformation. "Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends." (Revelation 3:20, NLT). God desires a relationship with each of us and offers His love, patiently calling us to repentance. "The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent." (2 Peter 3:9, NLT). We’ll close with a time of reflection and prayer, asking God to open our hearts to His relentless love and help us respond to His pursuit. Whether you’re feeling distant from God or questioning if He’s reaching out to you, this episode will encourage you to recognize His pursuit and respond to His call. Join us for a powerful conversation about hope, redemption, and God’s unending love for every one of us. S1 E8 - The Power of Intercessory Prayer
Welcome to The Prodigal Witness, where we dive deep into biblical truths and their impact on our daily lives. In Season 1, Episode 8, we are joined by special guests Misty and Celisa—biological sisters who have a lifelong bond that goes beyond shared experiences. They have continuously lifted each other up in prayer, especially during life’s most challenging times. Their testimony provides a powerful example of what it means to engage in intercessory prayer and the hope it brings. What is Intercessory Prayer? Intercessory prayer is the act of praying on behalf of others, bringing their needs before God and asking for His intervention. It’s not just a kind gesture; it’s a powerful act of faith and love that has deep biblical roots. Throughout scripture, we see countless examples of people who stood in the gap for others through prayer. Why Should We Pray for Others? The Bible teaches us the importance of intercessory prayer, reminding us that we are called to bear one another's burdens and to pray for one another. Some foundational scriptures include: James 5:16: "Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working." 1 Timothy 2:1: "I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people." Ephesians 6:18: "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people." These passages remind us that intercession is not only a duty but also a privilege. It aligns our hearts with God's will as we seek His hand in the lives of others. When we pray for someone else, we share in their struggles and joys, participating in the spiritual battle on their behalf. Misty and Celisa’s story is a powerful example of the transformative power of such prayers, demonstrating that interceding for others can provide strength, comfort, and even miracles. What Does Intercessory Prayer Look Like in Today's World? In our modern world, where technology has changed the way we communicate, prayer remains a timeless form of connection. Today, intercessory prayer can look like: Praying over the phone or video call: You don’t need to be physically present to intercede for someone. Misty and Celisa often prayed for each other this way when they couldn’t be together. Prayer groups and online communities: Many people come together in virtual spaces to pray for one another. Just as early Christians gathered to lift up prayers, today's believers can do the same in digital prayer circles. Written prayers and letters: Sending a prayer in a text message, email, or even writing a letter can be a meaningful way to offer intercession. It allows the recipient to revisit the prayer whenever they need encouragement. Interceding in action: While prayer is central, interceding can also mean standing by someone in tangible ways—providing help, support, or just a listening ear. It's about putting love into action. Call to Pray Without Ceasing The Apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to "pray without ceasing." This is more than a literal call to pray at all times; it’s an invitation to cultivate a lifestyle of prayer, where we are continually aware of the needs of others and quick to bring them before God. Intercessory prayer keeps us attuned to God’s will and deepens our empathy as we focus on the concerns of those around us. It allows us to partner with God in His work and to witness His miraculous interventions. How Can You Practice Intercessory Prayer? Make a Prayer List: Keep a list of people you are praying for and update it regularly. Set Aside Time Daily: Even a few minutes of intentional prayer can make a difference. Pray with Scripture: Use the Word of God to guide your prayers. Scriptures such as Psalm 91, Isaiah 53:5, and Philippians 4:6-7 can serve as powerful foundations for intercession.

S1 E7 - The Biblical Meaning of Love
In this thought-provoking episode of The Prodigal Witness, Chris and Bryan dive into a deeper understanding of love from a biblical perspective. Often, we use the word "love" to describe our feelings for family, friends, or even things we enjoy. But what does love truly mean, according to the Bible? It’s not just an emotion or a word we throw around; it's defined by our actions and how we live out the principles of love every day. The Bible offers a richer, deeper understanding of love than what we might find in everyday conversation. In the Greek language, there are several words for love, each describing different aspects: Philia – This is the love shared between friends, a kind of deep bond and loyalty. Eros – Romantic love, associated with passion and desire. Storge – Familial love, the natural affection between parents and children. But the highest form of love, the one that transcends all others, is Agape. This is the unconditional love that God shows us, and the love we are called to express toward others. Agape is love in action. It’s not simply about how we feel, but about how we choose to treat others, even when it’s difficult. It's selfless, sacrificial, and all-encompassing. Agape Love in the Teachings of Jesus: The way Jesus lived His life exemplifies agape love. He taught us how to love others, not just those we already care about, but even our enemies. Jesus’ love was active and purposeful. This kind of love calls us to do more than just say we care; it requires us to demonstrate it with our actions. Three key passages from the Bible show how Jesus' teachings and example embody agape love: John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." This verse reveals the ultimate example of agape love—God’s sacrifice of His Son for humanity. It’s not just about feeling love; it’s about God taking action to save us, even at the greatest cost. John 13:34-35: "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." Jesus challenges us here to love others the way He loves us—sacrificially, unconditionally, and without reservation. This is the essence of agape, and it's through this love that others recognize Christ’s presence in our lives. Matthew 5:44: "But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." Perhaps the most challenging expression of agape love is the call to love those who wrong us. Jesus' teaching in the Sermon on the Mount emphasizes that agape love extends even to those who oppose or hurt us, breaking the cycle of hatred and embodying the grace of God. How Can We Apply Agape Love in Our Lives? In our world today, it’s easy to reserve love for those who love us back. But the call to agape love goes beyond reciprocation. It calls us to be proactive in showing kindness, grace, and compassion, even when it’s not easy or convenient. Agape love demands forgiveness, generosity, and a willingness to see others through the lens of God’s grace. Here are some practical ways we can start living out agape love in our daily lives: Forgive Others: Forgiveness is one of the most powerful acts of agape love. It frees both you and the other person from the weight of bitterness and resentment. Serve Selflessly: Look for opportunities to serve others, especially those who can’t repay you. Acts of service, without expectation of anything in return, reflect the heart of agape love. Pray for Your Enemies: As hard as it can be, pray for those who wrong you. When we pray for others, even those who hurt us, it softens our hearts and aligns us with God’s love. Show Kindness Daily: Small, daily acts of kindness can reflect agape love. Whether it's a kind word, a smile, or helping someone in need, these gestures show that love is more than a feeling—it’s a choice.

S1 E6 - Trusting Jesus with you emotions
In this episode of The Prodigal Witness, Misty and Lindsay dive deep into how emotions can spiral "out of control" and how we can trust Jesus to bring peace into emotional chaos. They explore the meaning of "trust" and share biblical truths to help navigate emotional struggles. Hebrews 4:12 – The Power of God's Word Misty and Lindsay begin by grounding the conversation in scripture. Hebrews 4:12 (NLT) says, “For the word of God is alive and powerful... It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” Our emotions can often mislead us, but God’s Word discerns the truth, cutting through confusion. When we anchor our emotions in the Bible, we find clarity and healing. His Word isn’t just informative; it’s transformative. Isaiah 12:2 – God is Our Strength and Defense Next, they turn to Isaiah 12:2 (NLT), “See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid...” Fear often comes when emotions spiral, but God gives us strength and victory, empowering us to face our feelings with courage. Trusting God means actively relying on Him to bring us through emotional storms, knowing that He is our Savior and defender. Isaiah 41:10 – Fear Not, For God Is With You Lindsay shares how emotions like fear and discouragement weigh us down, but God’s promise in Isaiah 41:10 (NLT) brings comfort: “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you... I will strengthen you and help you.” God never leaves us in our struggles. Whether it’s anxiety or anger, His strength is always available. Misty reminds us that God holds us up in emotional storms with His victorious hand. Jeremiah 17:7 – Trust in the Lord Misty and Lindsay explain how trusting God with our emotions leads to blessing. Jeremiah 17:7 (NLT) says, “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.” Rather than being ruled by our emotions, we submit them to God’s authority, making Him our source of hope. Trusting God shifts our focus from the chaos of our feelings to the steadiness of His love. John 14:27 – Peace That the World Cannot Give Misty and Lindsay also highlight John 14:27 (NLT): “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” True peace isn’t found in controlling circumstances or emotions—it’s found in Jesus. He offers a supernatural calm that steadies our hearts even when life is chaotic. This peace is a gift we receive by faith, not something we can create ourselves. Philippians 4:6-7 – Guarding Our Hearts with God's Peace Finally, Misty and Lindsay unpack Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT): “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything... Then you will experience God’s peace... His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Prayer is key to finding peace amid emotional turmoil. Instead of letting worry control us, Paul encourages us to bring our concerns to God in prayer. Through prayer, we invite His peace to guard our hearts and minds, protecting us from emotional overload. A Call to Surrender Misty and Lindsay invite listeners to surrender their emotions to Jesus. True peace and healing come when we trust Him with our hearts. A Closing Prayer: "Lord Jesus, we come to You with all of our emotions. Help us trust You with our hearts and minds. Bring Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and guide us in every moment. We surrender our emotions and lives to You, knowing You are our strength and defender. In Your name, we pray. S1 E5.5 - Israel at war SPECIAL
In this powerful episode of The Prodigal Witness, Bryan and Chris interview their new friend Stefan, a Messianic Jew living in Jerusalem, to give you a firsthand account of the ongoing war in Israel. Stefan shares the reality of life under attack, with missiles lighting up the sky, sirens blaring, and the constant need to seek shelter for safety. Yet in the midst of this turmoil, Stefan's faith in the Lord remains unshaken. He believes in God's hedge of protection over His people and trusts in His divine plan. Stefan brings a deeply personal perspective to the horrific events of October 7th, 2023, when Hamas terrorists launched a brutal and violent attack on Israel. Innocent lives were lost, including many who were simply attending a peaceful music festival. Stefan’s recount of the massacre highlights the deep grief and devastation this act of terror has caused, but also the incredible resilience of Israel’s people. This episode will leave you both heartbroken for the suffering and inspired by the unyielding faith and strength of those living through this ordeal. World Events and Prophecy As Christians, we know that many of the events unfolding in the world today align with the prophetic words of Scripture. In Matthew 24:6, Jesus spoke of turbulent times, warning His disciples, “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.” This reminder encourages us to stay faithful and focused on God's word, knowing that He is sovereign over all things. The Bible also commands us to pray for the peace of Israel, the land of God’s chosen people. In Psalm 122:6, we are told, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May those who love you be secure." As followers of Christ, we must stand in solidarity with Israel, praying for God’s protection, guidance, and peace in these troubling times. It is our responsibility as believers to not only support Israel in prayer but also to encourage others to do the same. Praying for Israel: Our Christian Duty The Bible teaches us that there is great power in collective prayer. In Matthew 18:20, Jesus says, "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." This passage reminds us of the importance of unity in prayer. When we join together, whether in person or across the world, to pray in agreement, we invite God's presence and His will to be done. Let us take this opportunity to pray together for peace in Israel, for the safety of its people, and for God's protection during this dark time. Let’s Pray Together: Heavenly Father, we come before You in prayer today, lifting up the nation of Israel during this time of war and devastation. Lord, we ask for Your divine protection over Your people. We pray for the families who have lost loved ones and for those who live in fear of further attacks. Comfort them, Lord, and bring peace to their hearts. We pray for Your mighty hand to protect the land of Israel, to shield it from harm, and to bring an end to the violence. Lord, You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. We place our trust in You and ask that You guide the leaders and people of Israel to make decisions in accordance with Your will. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen. Join the Prayer Movement We encourage you to stand with us in prayer for Israel and its people. Together, as followers of Christ, we can lift up the nation of Israel and seek God’s intervention. Whether you're praying alone or with others, your prayers make a difference. As the body of Christ, we are called to intercede for nations and for peace. S1 E5 - More Than Going Through the Motions
In this eye-opening episode of The Prodigal Witness, hosts Bryan and Chris dive deep into one of the most vital topics in the Christian walk: salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ. What does it truly mean to be saved? Is it just about showing up to church, going through the rituals, and calling yourself a believer, or is there more to it? Bryan and Chris bring a powerful conversation to the table, revealing how simply "going through the motions" isn’t enough to live out a life in Christ. They explore the necessity of real action and a heart transformation that goes beyond superficial displays of faith. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice, shedding His blood for our sins (Hebrews 9:22), but it’s on us to respond to this incredible gift with intentionality and a desire to bear fruit (John 15:5-8). Key Bible Verses Discussed: James 2:17 – "In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." Here, Bryan and Chris talk about how faith without works is not enough. Real faith manifests in how we live out our daily lives, reflecting our love and commitment to Christ. Matthew 7:21-23 – "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." This sobering passage reminds us that merely calling ourselves Christians doesn’t mean we truly know Jesus. It’s about doing His will. John 15:5 – "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." True discipleship in Christ is marked by fruit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and more. Without a real relationship with Him, our efforts are fruitless. How to Apply This to Your Life: Evaluate Your Relationship with Jesus: Are you just checking off boxes, or are you actively pursuing a deeper connection with Christ? Spend time in prayer and ask God to reveal any areas in your life where you might be going through the motions. Make Your Faith Active: Living out your faith means putting it into action. Look for opportunities to serve others, practice forgiveness, and show love in tangible ways. As James 1:22 says, "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." Abide in Christ Daily: Staying connected to Jesus is the only way to bear fruit (John 15:4). This means daily devotion, consistent prayer, and being led by the Holy Spirit in your actions. Understand the Cost of Following Jesus: Following Christ is not always easy (Luke 9:23). It requires surrendering our own desires and living for Him wholeheartedly. It’s not about perfection but about progression in your faith. The Importance of Real Commitment: Bryan and Chris emphasize that faith in Jesus is not just about a one-time declaration but an ongoing transformation. The Christian walk demands effort, humility, and real dedication. Salvation is a gift, but it comes with a responsibility – to follow Jesus sincerely and allow the Holy Spirit to work through you. If you're ready to move beyond just the motions and experience the fullness of a life in Christ, this episode is for you. S1 E4 - Repentance: The Path to Renewal and Redemption
In this heartfelt episode of The Prodigal Witness, we dive deep into the transformative power of repentance and what it truly means to seek forgiveness for our sins. Join us as Bryan shares his emotional testimony about his personal journey of asking God for forgiveness and inviting Jesus into his heart. His story is a testament to the grace and love of God, and it serves as a powerful reminder that no one is beyond the reach of divine mercy. What Is Repentance? Repentance is more than just feeling sorry for our sins; it’s a profound change of heart and mind. In Acts 3:19, we are reminded, "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord." This episode unpacks the biblical foundations of repentance, emphasizing that it involves acknowledging our wrongdoings, feeling genuine sorrow for them, and making a conscious decision to turn away from sin and towards God. Seeking Forgiveness from God We explore practical steps for seeking forgiveness and deepening our relationship with God: Acknowledge Your Sins: The first step in repentance is recognizing the areas in our lives where we have fallen short. Romans 3:23 states, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." By admitting our faults, we open the door to healing. Confess and Ask for Forgiveness: 1 John 1:9 assures us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." When we sincerely confess our sins, we receive the promise of God's forgiveness. Turn Away from Sin: True repentance involves a commitment to change. As we learn in Luke 13:3, "But unless you repent, you too will all perish." Turning away from sin is essential for spiritual growth. Invite Jesus into Your Heart: In Revelation 3:20, Jesus invites us, saying, "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock." Accepting Jesus into our hearts is a pivotal step in our journey of faith and repentance. Cultivate a Relationship with God: Developing a consistent prayer life and immersing ourselves in Scripture helps us stay grounded in our faith. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." In this episode, Bryan’s story serves as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that no matter how far we may feel from God, His arms are always open, ready to receive us back into His loving embrace. We invite you to reflect on your own journey of repentance and consider how you can draw closer to God. Listen and Subscribe! Don’t miss out on this powerful episode!
