Even into her 80's, she continues to work the pits every Saturday morning, a role she's held since 2003 alongside owner Kerry Bexley. Despite her age, Tootsie is hands-on, preparing meats and tending the barbecue pits herself. Her journey into barbecue began in the 1960s, and over the years, she has become a beloved icon in the culinary world. After graduation, he had a brief career as a manufacturing engineer at Mentor H/S and Motorola MOS-11 as a photolithography engineer. He left the private sector after four years to pursue a career in Naval Aviation where he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps in April 1997 and was designated a Naval Aviator in January 1999 where he served a total of 21 years as a EA-6B Prowler Pilot accumulating over 1600 total flight hours and 300 combat mission hours. His experience also included serving as Chief Operating Officer of the largest Air Group in the USMC where he directed and supervised operations and managed requirements for an $8B enterprise with an annual budget of $500M that consisted of 4,500 personnel, 110 aircraft and associated ground support and test equipment. During his final tour, he served as a research and development analyst, specializing in electro-magnetic spectrum technologies, for the Department of Defense. It was during this period he enrolled in the Executive MBA program at McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin where he met his soon to be two co-founders and created Desert Door Texas Sotol upon graduation in 2017. At the beginning of 2018, Desert Door had 3 employees and local distribution. Desert Door now directly employs 42 people across 9 U.S. cities and is currently distributed throughout 21 U.S. states, Europe and Military Sales. A native of Midland Texas and a 5th generation Texan, Brent now resides in Austin with the love of his life Karen. They have one daughter Jessica and a grandson Christian. He is passionate about guitar, food, drink, travel and their beloved German Shepherds. DR. While in college, he gained experience on the King Ranch working for a hunting lease on the Laureles Division. After college, Calan was the ranch manager/biologist for a 14,000-acre ranch south of San Angelo, Texas. He then was hired as a Unit Manager for the King Ranch on the Laureles Division overseeing the cow/calf production and daily operations for his unit and unit cowboys. Calan has spent his entire life in the outfitting, consulting, cattle ranching, and exotic industries, striving to provide the utmost professional services. Calan is a member of many professional organizations including Texas Southwestern Cattle Raisers, Salt Water Fisheries Association, CCA, Texas Wildlife Association (where he serves on the Texas Big Game Committee), Safari Club International, Board of Directors for Exotic Wildlife Association, and Trophy Game Records of the World (he currently serves on the board of directors and secretary for TGR).

    Colton sits down with Taylor Collins, founder of ROAM Ranch. Taylor talks about how he went from having a strict raw-food diet to now owning and operating a respected ranch that distributes the highest quality Bison meat around the country. In this Episode: - Colton Harbert with Capitol Ranch Real Estate - Taylor Collins with Roam Ranch Started by first generation farmers, Katie and Taylor's journey into ranching was based on a vision to positively impact large-scale agriculture through producing nourishing food that improves the lives of animals, enriches the health of consumers, and regenerates the land on which we depend. Like much of the world, this once-fertile region has been industrially farmed for the past 100 years. Through persistent tilling of soil, planting of monoculture row crops, and overgrazing, ROAM Ranch was not capable of producing food upon its purchase. Land in this condition is often deemed "unsalvageable" and in many circumstances further degenerates with rest- but we are going to prove otherwise.

    We had the absolute privilege of sitting down with the world's foremost bat biologist and conservationist, Dr. Merlin Tuttle. Dr. Tuttle has dedicated his life to preserving these misunderstood mammals, and teaching people about how important they truly are to our daily lives. In this Episode: - Colton Harbert with Capitol Ranch Real Estate - Dr. Merlin Tuttle Merlin Tuttle is an ecologist, wildlife photographer, and conservationist who has studied bats and championed their preservation for 60 years and continues a full-time schedule. He is globally known through his scientific discoveries, media appearances, popular articles, and photographs of bats. His work has been featured in expositions from Harvard University to the British Museum and in numerous feature articles that include the Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker and National Geographic. He founded Bat Conservation International (BCI), an organization devoted to research, education and conservation of bats, in 1982. Under his leadership BCI emphasized broad collaboration that balanced both human and wildlife needs and became a model for positive solutions to conservation challenges. Against all odds, BCI grew rapidly. When Tuttle retired in 2009 from nearly 30 years of service as its Executive Director, BCI employed 32 biologists, educators, and administrators, supported by 11,000 members in 60 countries. BCI gained permanent protection for many of the world’s largest remaining bat populations, sponsored research to document the vital ecological and economic roles of bats, trained hundreds of wildlife managers in bat research and conservation techniques, and vastly improved the public’s perception of bats. He founded Merlin Tuttle’s Bat Conservation (www.MerlinTuttle.org) in 2014 in support of his many continuing conservation activities, entirely independent of his original organization.

Before joining Colorado River Land Trust, he served as the executive director of Guadalupe-Blanco River Trust. He also worked for Land Legacy, a statewide land conservation group in Oklahoma focused on protecting critical agricultural land and water resources. Jeff has a bachelor’s of science from the University of Oklahoma and currently serves on the governing board of Compatible Lands Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting the conservation of land and natural resources and compatible land use among public and private landowners.
