Special Episode: Celebrating YOU x ME
On this special episode of THE SHIFT we celebrate Ayla's forthcoming novel YOU x ME and talk about all things: hope, social connection and authentic living. In a world where we are sold, told, and fed things that are not in alignment with our values it is even more critical to root in our knowing. We discuss the parts of healing that are relational and how the greatest gift we can give each other is to witness and be witnessed.Join us for: Celebrating YOU x MEAbout the book:YOU x ME is a series of queer BIPOC love stories. Noura swipes right on Luna with a little help from her group-chat, Maryam and Nilou fall for each other between shared playlists, while Paz and Ale reminisce about the sweat-soaked dance floor of their youth. Set in cosmopolitan settings from Los Angeles to Montreal, each chapter can be read as an independent love story, though the book has a unifying thread of characters. This hot and hopeful contemporary romance offers escape, self-discovery, and a dose of glamor. As Maya Angelou encourages, this book calls readers to “have enough courage to trust love one more time and always one more time.” Pre-order YOU x ME: youxmebook.comWatch: YOUxME Conversations on YouTube Complimentary Podcast Episode:Ep. 30: Being seen, from the inside-outFree Tools for you:Self Leadership Training: The Leadership CodeTeam Leadership Training: How to work better, together.SPECIAL PROMO: For a limited time we are offering listeners 20% off all services – let’s shift together!Connect with us!We would love to hear your thoughts! How to relationSHIFT?
Our coaching programs prioritize relationSHIFTS. We create relationSHIFTS with yourself, within your family, with your co-workers, with your ideas, and the world around you. To do that patterns must be broken. When a pattern is broken, new pathways are made possible. The cost is an interruption of the old ways of thinking, feeling and behaving. Are you just changing or actually healing?
In a society that prioritizes efficiency we tend to lean towards “hacks” that load us with “tools” to make our healing more “productive”. What we witness at times is changed behavior, but when we dig deeper we are left with the question: are we actually healing? In today’s episode, we deconstruct some therapeutic modalities and ask questions to see how they serve us, and see if we can find a healthier route to heal in our wholeness. Can you decode your emotions?
One of the reasons it can be difficult to fully commit to experiencing a shift in your emotional patterns is because the emotions themselves are repeatedly telling you a story about you and your life. This lens which you see yourself, your relationships and the world around you becomes very familiar. It’s the familiarity that creates a sense of ownership to your experience and that can prove difficult to release your grip on. It’s literally the fabric that makes up what you believe is your identity. Even if you know better, it’s the emotional hold that needs to be more deeply appreciated and untangled to create a new and more empowering narrative and identity. Today’s episode offers you a “decoding” tool to untangle your emotions to better understand your needs and empower you with tools to shift.Give yourself permission to feel. Before we can shift anything, we first have to understand what it’s asking of us. What it needs from us. This information is a critical piece of the puzzle. It starts with giving yourself permission to feel, then making space for the possibility of you feeling something different. Today’s episode offers you a “decoding” tool to untangle your emotions to better understand your needs and empower you with tools to shift. How does self-compassion help you perform better?
The degree to which you are willing to practice self-compassion is the degree to which you will achieve greater performance and life satisfaction. This is not hyperbole. What is mess doing to your brain?
The energy we receive, and which is taken, by our physical spaces is remarkable. Our “stuff” can create barriers for our thinking and our growth. The art of letting go can entice a revival and renewal of energy and ideas. Piles of laundry, dishes, and papers are endless to-dos for the brain. It’s exhausting, stress inducing, and inhibits the brain’s ability to focus and make clear decisions. How do you optimize your creativity?
Creativity, in brain-science speak, is “non-linear” thinking. This means there is no pre-existing or easy answer to what you are trying to solve or create. You are attempting to give rise to an idea for which, as far as your brain knows, no road-map or answer yet exists. Once you are able to reach an insight, a new mental map is born. In other words, when you create what comes into being is a new understanding and a different perspective. Do you need to stay small to be loved?
In this 2-part episode we explore the ways in which we shapeshift to be accepted. In today’s episode, part one, we ask: “Do you need to stay small to be loved?” What keeps us a victim in our own life? How does romanticizing martyrdom hurt us? As we identify the narratives that reinforce these imprints, we also offer tools to create more nourishing neuronal pathways and strategies forward. Join us in conversation, for part 1 of our discussion, as we ask: “Do you need to stay small to be loved?”Free Mini-Courses!Free Team Leadership Training: How to work better, together.Free Self Leadership Training: The Leadership CodeConnect with us!We would love to hear your thoughts! Is it your intuition or your anxiety?
One of the tools we help build within our clients is their connection to their own knowing by connecting them to their values and purpose. Our hope is that the more in touch you are with your intuition, the more you are able to align with those values and lead from that place.A question we often hear in this work is: how do I know if it's my anxiety or my intuition? How do I determine my yes from my no? When the “no” sensation of anxiety and intuition feel the same.In today’s episode we explore tools to help you make that distinction for yourself.
