What do we think of when it comes to the topic of Spiritual Warfare? Many images come to mind inspired by movies like The Exorcist. But what if this warfare we are caught in the middle of - and called to be engaged in - more sneaky and covert? In this final message of our Ephesians series, we walk talk about the war and our enemy, the equipment for the fight, our battle orders, and one final surprising word of hope. 

Ephesians 5:22-6:9 feels jarring in our modern-day context. But in the ancient world, it was jarring but for different reasons. When we place Paul's household codes alongside the Roman household codes, we see some surprising New Creation reversals. 

The deception of duplicity is simple: true freedom is living a double life. You can project a particular version of yourself, but live a double life in private. What if duplicity is actually slavery, and inside-out congruence, learned from discipleship to Jesus, is the true freedom we desire? In this message, Pastor David walks through Ephesians 5:6-18.

This is most manifestly displayed in the incarnation of God in Jesus. God listens with skin. He hears our pain and feels our pain.     

God creates everything good and in harmony with everything else. But things go off the rails when the humans listen to the voice of the serpent, and not the voice of God. Shame enters the story. And it remains with us. 

Is the creation story of Genesis One and Two widely misunderstood? What if there's more going on than simply "How and when everything was made?" What if this has more to do with God creating a dwelling place - a temple - with humanity who are to be priests in God's sacred space? What do this tell us about our purpose? In this week of Dwelling, we look at the opening story and what this has to say about the story we live out right here, right now. 

We are in a new teaching series looking at the theme of God dwelling with humanity, and our longing for our true home in the presence of God. This first week, Pastor David Beavis starts at the end - Revelation 21:1-8.

In this message from our Prayer teaching series, Pastor David invites us into a deeper relationship with God by embracing radical honesty in our prayer life. Drawing from the raw and unfiltered prayers of the Psalms, the book of Habakkuk, and the prayers of Jesus before his death, we challenge the idea that God only hears our polite, religious, happy prayers. Instead, we’re encouraged to bring our whole, unfiltered selves—our anger, our grief, our doubts, and our disappointments—before a God who desires real relationship with us. And real relationship requires honesty.

To begin our teaching series on prayer, Pastor David opens with the story of the disciples of Jesus praying and waiting in Acts 1. We then explore our experience of waiting in Romans 8:18-25.
