Town & Country Deeper Podcast

Dive into Deeper at Town & Country Christian Church. Each week you will hear Bible teaching from our pastor David Heffren. This term we are learning more about Romans, and what Paul has to say to the early church about what it means to be a disciple of Christ.

  1. 19

    The Suffering Servant (Isaiah 52-53)

The Servant of the Lord in Isaiah not only establishes justice; he also suffers on behalf of God's people. Here we find powerful promises that point us to Jesus, who offered his life as a substitute to rescue us from our sins.   Recorded April 21, 2026

  2. 18

The Servant of the Lord (Isaiah 42, 49-50)

An important figure appears in the second half of Isaiah: the "Servant of the Lord." In the passages about the Servant, we are pointed to Jesus Christ, the fulfillment of these promises.   Recorded April 7, 2026.

  3. 17

    Comfort & Encouragement (Isaiah 40 & 43-45)

About a hundred years after the life of Isaiah, God's people would be taken into exile in Babylon. Knowing that this would happen, the prophet writes words of encouragement to the future exiles, reassuring them of God's presence and love. These promises are fulfilled in an even greater way for us who have faith in Christ.  Recorded March 31, 2026

  4. 16

Assyrian Attackers & Babylonian Envoys (Isaiah 36-39)

In Isaiah 36-39, we see how King Hezekiah responded to crises. When attackers from the Assyrian Empire were on his doorstep, he took his needs to the Lord. However, when visitors from Babylon came to his kingdom, he foolishly showed off all of his things, setting up Israel's eventual exile in Babylon. Recorded March 24, 2026.

  5. 15

    Woes on Judah (Isaiah 28-35)

The prophet Isaiah pronounces a series of "woes" on the nation of Judah in Isaiah 28-35. The nation had stopped relying on God, practiced superficial religion, and were unwilling to listen to God's Word. Even so, God longs to be gracious toward them and calls them to return to him.    Recorded March 10, 2026.

  6. 14

    Isaiah Apocalypse (Isaiah 24-27)

In Isaiah 24-27, the prophet gives us a view of the end. God will judge the world and bring his wrath against the wicked. However, everyone who belongs to him will be welcomed to a feast in his kingdom. Recorded March 3, 2026

  7. 13

Judgment on the Nations (Isaiah 13-23)

For eleven chapters in Isaiah, God pronounces impending judgment on the nations that surrounded his people. In these texts, we discover that God is sovereign over all the nation, that he will judge human pride, and that the idols we often turn to are powerless to save.    Recorded February 24, 2026

  8. 12

    Messianic Promises (Isaiah 8-11)

In Isaiah 8-11, God promises to judge both Israel and Assyria for its sins. However, these warnings of judgment are punctuated with promises of the coming Messiah--promises that are fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Recorded February 10, 2026

  9. 11

Trusting God in a Crisis (Isaiah 7-8)

Isaiah 7 is situated in a moment of crisis, as the kingdom of Judah was facing an invasion from other nations. But in the midst of this crisis, God's Word calls his people to trust in his presence with them. Recorded February 3, 2026

  10. 10

    Isaiah's Commissioning (Isa. 6)

In Isaiah 6, Isaiah sees God seated on a throne, and God commissions the prophet to bring his message to the people of Judah. Isaiah's ministry was formed by this vision of the Lord.  Recorded January 27, 2026

  11. 9

    A Troubling Diagnosis (Isa. 1-5)

In Isaiah 1-5, God reveals the sin that had infected the nation of Judah. While we may try to hide our sin from ourselves and others, but God sees it all. Only by acknowledging what's wrong within can we be open to God's forgiveness.  Recorded January 20, 2026

  12. 8

    Get to Know Isaiah

In our first week of Deeper studying Isaiah, we introduce this important (yet imposing!) book of the Bible by exploring the historical and spiritual context of Isaiah's world.  Recorded January 13, 2026

  13. 7

    Living Sacrifices (Romans 12-13)

In the first 11 chapters of Romans, Paul imparts knowledge of the gospel and explains how we are justified by faith in Christ. But how should this knowledge affect the way we live every day? In Romans 12-13, we begin to see how the gospel transforms our day-to-day lives and calls us offer ourselves to God as living sacrifices.    Recorded on November 11, 2025.

  14. 6

    What About Israel (Romans 9-11)

Throughout Romans, Paul proclaims that justification through faith is available to everyone the entire world. But what does this mean for the Jews? In Romans 9-11, Paul explores the place of Israel in God's plan and shows that God's word has not failed and he is faithful to his covenants.  Recorded November 4, 2025

  15. 5

Life in the Spirit (Romans 8)

Romans 8 is one of the great chapters of the New Testament. In it, Paul excitedly explores what our justification means for our lives. We are empowered by the Holy Spirit, hopeful in the promises of God, and assured that nothing can separate us from God's love!   Recorded October 28th, 2025

  16. 4

Grace and The Law (Romans 7)

Week 6 is here! David leads us in a study of Romans 7, explaining that the purpose of the Old Testament Law was meant to lead us to Christ, by pointing out that we are sinful and in need of grace.   Recorded 10/21/25

  17. 3

New Life in God (Romans 6)

Week 5 of our study, we dive into Romans 6, covering the importance of baptism, as we are no longer slaves to sin but are slaves to righteousness, and receive new life through Jesus.   Recorded October 14th, 2025

  18. 2

The Benefits of Justification by Faith (Romans 4-5)

In week 4 of Deeper, we dive in Romans chapters 4 & 5. In the passage Paul will reference two key figures from history (Abraham & Adam)—and use them to explain what Christ has done for us and how we are justified by faith. Recorded September 30, 2025.

  19. 1

    Justification by Faith (Romans 3:21-31)

In week 3 of our Deeper study, David takes us through Romans 3:21-31, and answers these questions: How does one enter into God's righteousness? How do we gain access into the covenant-people of God? Recorded September 23, 2025
