There's Just No Stopping the New York Knicks

The New York Knicks aren't just beating teams.  They're demoralizing them.Currently on an 11-0 run as they await the winner of the NBA's Western Conference series between the Spurs and the Thunder, the Knicks closed out their playoff rounds against the Hawks, 76ers, and Cavaliers with series-clinching wins of 51, 30, and 37 points respectively ALL ON THE ROAD.Granted, the crowds in Philadelphia and Cleveland made it sound as if these games were in Madison Square Garden, but the Knicks have made it abundantly clear that it is championship or bust.Meanwhile, that sound you heard was Jim Monaghan jumping off the Mets bandwagon (gee, that was quick), and with 40% of the MLB season in the books, the Yankees' biggest need is probably a closer.Could there be one available in Boston?Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

Look Who's Jumping On the Mets Bandwagon!

Remember that agonizing 12-game losing streak a couple of weeks ago?Jim Monaghan was strongly suggesting that the Mets fire manager Carlos Mendoza, saying that he was in over his head and had lost the team (Jim might want to stick with coaching high school baseball and leave the MLB stuff to the big boys).Fast forward to mid-May where the Mets have won 4 of their last 5 series and have a chance over the next 13 games to get themselves into Wild Card consideration.Meanwhile, the Yankees look like world beaters one week and then can't get out of their own way the next. And the Knicks...can't forget about them.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

Go New York Go! The Knicks Are CRUISING!!!

Any fears that Knicks fans might have had going into the recent playoff series against the Philadelphia 76ers were quickly put to rest with a convincing sweep in the 4-game series. We're talking a level of dominance that even the most diehard of Knicks fans probably didn't see coming, including a 30-point victory in Game 4 in Philadelphia. You might be tempted to start comparing this New York team to the 1970's-era Knicks that brought home a couple of championships to Madison Square Garden, with Jalen Brunson arguably the face of New York sports at the moment. The Mets and Yankees meet up at Citi Field this weekend with more questions surrounding the managerial longevity of Carlos Mendoza. And it may only be mid-May, but the San Francisco Giants appear to be ready to go into fire-sale mode.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

The Yankees FINALLY Do Right By Anthony Volpe

Hindsight is always 20/20, so it's not exactly earth-shattering news or a sizzling hot take to say that in retrospect, the Yankees rushed Anthony Volpe to the major leagues in 2023.After an eye-opening spring training that year, New York promoted Volpe to be their Opening Day shortstop bringing the local-kid-makes-good story REALLY come to life.Volpe struggled a bit in his sophomore season (as the VAST majority of major league players do) but came alive in the postseason against the Dodgers hitting a grand slam in Game 4 to help lift the Yankees to an 11-4 win.2025 was a completely different story as Volpe struggled both at the plate and in the field; he would ultimately undergo offseason surgery. When his rehab stint ended on Sunday May 3, the Yankees optioned Volpe to AAA to help him continue his development.  Meanwhile, George Lombard Jr (SS/3B) is also at AAA so the Yankees are going to have to move someone to a different position. And some sad news to report with the passing of longtime Yankees radio broadcaster John Sterling who, over the course of his career, called 5060 consecutive games, including every game Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera played in pinstripes.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

It Got Late Early For These Two MLB Teams

It may still be early in the Major League Baseball season, but for two teams, to borrow a phrase from Yogi Berra, it got late early as the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies fired their respective managers.Managers may not be the ones putting the rosters together (that falls to the head of baseball operations) but when those players don't perform, it's more often than not the managers who take the blame.Mets fans, frustrated by their own team's won-loss record, might have been hoping to see recently fired Alex Cora be hired by the team.  Two things happened. The Phillies called Cora first, and Alex turned them down basically saying he wants to spend time with his kids on the beach in Puerto Rico.Meanwhile, Anthony Volpe is expected to come off the injured list and subsequent minor league rehab assignment, but there's more to his return to the team than meets the eye.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

The NFL Draft Is Here - What's Ahead For the Jets and Giants?

The 2026 NFL Draft begins Thursday in Pittsburgh and while it may not be a quarterback-heavy draft, there is still plenty of talent to pick from. The Jets have the 2nd pick in the draft; the Giants have two of the top 10 picks.  Odds are that the Raiders will choose Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick, so the Jets will probably wait until next year to pick a quarterback. The Giants, already set at the QB position, may choose to go with running back Jeremiyah Love from Notre Dame. Both New York local baseball teams are also on tap with the obvious conclusions that the Yankees need to have Ben Rice in their lineup every day, and Mets manager Carlos Mendoza is on a VERY hot seat.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

Has Parity Hit Major League Baseball?

There are still more than 140 games left in the regular Major League Baseball season but an early look at the standings after the first few weeks of play will tell you that there are a lot of teams bunched together. In fact, there are currently only two teams that are more than four games behind their respective division leaders in the loss column and even the most casual of MLB observers will tell you that a four-game lead in the middle of April means nothing.Perhaps more surprising are the performances of the so-called "small market teams" who are told they can't compete with the Big Boys.  The Rays, Twins, and Pirates are all leading their respective divisions and others like the Royals and Athletics are well within striking distance.Speaking of Pittsburgh, they are a VERY pleasant surprise here in the middle of April.  For a city that has been yearning for a competitive baseball team to root for, the likes of Paul Skenes and Konnor Griffin are giving Bucs fans reason to believe that PNC Park might be a fun place to be this summer. The Mets and Yankees are both struggling; one of those two teams has a better chance of figuring things out sooner rather than later. And finally, kudos to the Governor Livingston High School (Berkeley Heights NJ) baseball team who put together a 40-game winning streak (May 2024 - April 2026) that just came to an end on Saturday April 11 in a 2-1 loss to Arthur L. Johnson High School (Clark NJ).  Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

It's Everybody's Favorite New Game Show - Knee-Jerk Reaction Time!

Sports talk radio gave Joe Fan the opportunity to immediately vent or celebrate his or her favorite team's losses and victories.Social media has given all of us a platform to do the same turning some people into media "stars" and giving rise to one hot take after another, many of which are just ridiculous. But isn't that the point of a hot take? With the first full weekend of the 2026 Major League Baseball regular season in the books, we offer our own knee-jerk reactions to the new ABS strike zone, Aaron Judge, Pete Alonso, Bo Bichette, and the San Francisco Giants controversial hiring of former University of Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello to be their manager.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

Major League Baseball Wants You To Cut the Cord

Among the numerous changes that have been made to baseball over the past few years - bigger bases, pitch clock, putting a runner on second base in extra innings to name a few - Major League Baseball has REALLY attempted to appeal to younger viewers. One the ways it's doing that is by using streaming services such as Netflix which is where you'll be able to see the Yankees and Giants on Opening Day (or night as the case may be).  As more and more of us cut the cord and leave cable behind, MLB has a deal with Netflix for Opening Night, the Home Run Derby, and the Field of Dreams game. While it may be frustrating for older viewers who are accustomed to watching the YES Network or SNY for our local baseball teams, Major League Baseball is gambling that partnering with a popular streaming service is the future of games on television.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

The World Baseball Classic Sends A Message To Major League Baseball

Think there's a problem with baseball?  Then you CLEARLY weren't paying attention during the World Baseball Classic. It's not very often that you get a Game 7 in the middle of March!Packed stadiums around the world, passion from both players and fans, some drama with Team USA (did the coaching staff REALLY not know the situation during the game with Italy?) and a championship game that had meaning FAR beyond just two countries/teams playing against one another.Much like the NHL's Four Nations Tournament in 2025, what the WBC showed everyone was that there is an opportunity for baseball to REALLY shine on an international level, and it may in fact give us an idea of what Major League Baseball should do with the All-Star Game. And the "keep politics out of sports" crowd (at least when it's convenient for their way of thinking) has to admit that the political backdrop of a USA-Venezuela championship game was impossible to ignore.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

Special Guest - Kenny Albert On the USA's Amazing Olympic Gold Medal Runs

This week on the Two-Minute Drill, we're thrilled to share a conversation with Kenny Albert.Kenny Albert is the TV voice of the New York Rangers, and the lead voice for the NHL on TNT.  He says calling the recent Olympic hockey ranks among the most memorable stretches of his career, highlighting multiple overtimes and gold medal games for the United States men's and women's hockey teams.Albert said he has worked seven Winter Olympics and several gold medal games, but this run felt different because NHL players returned and the U.S. beat Canada in overtime in the men's and women's gold medal games. He said the overtime endings left stronger impressions among viewers. We also catch up on Jason Tatum's return from injury to the Boston Celtics, and what the local NHL teams did (or did not do) at the trade deadline.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

The Athletic's MLB Fan Survey Has Some Big Surprises

The Athletic just published the results of their recent survey about Major League Baseball and the results just may surprise you.For one, despite the vitriol he draws on social media, Commissioner Rob Manfred's standing among fans is a lot better than you think.  And you also might be VERY surprised by what the fans really think about Major League Baseball's relationship with gambling.Plus, you might be surprised by the (at least for now) success of the Mets' addition-by-subtraction policy since the end of last season. And there's more talk about Pirates #1 prospect Konnor Griffin.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

Why You Shouldn't Believe ANYTHING You See In Spring Training

Both the US Men's and Women's Hockey Teams brought home the gold in the 2026 Winter Olympics with dramatic wins over their respective Canadian opponents.Plus Major League Baseball will be using its new ABS Strike Zone this season following a few years' worth of experiments in the minor leagues. And there are lots of exciting players to watch in spring training (the Yankees in particular have a couple) but you might want to pump the brakes a little.  While it's fun to watch some young phenom light things up in Florida or Arizona this time of year, it's WAY too early to start penciling some rookie into the starting lineup just yet.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

From Potential MLB Lockouts To Landman!

The average baseball fan may not know who Tony Clark is, but it's a safe bet that pretty much everybody knows who Billy Bob Thornton is.One is the former Executive Director of the Major League Baseball Players Association; the other is the star of the hit TV series "Landman."This week, Jim Monaghan and Chris Swendeman break down at least some of what we know about Clark's resignation and what it could mean for the upcoming baseball labor negotiations.Plus, if you're not already watching "Landman," you are missing some incredible television! Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

Guess Who Is NOT Picking the Patriots To Win the Super Bowl?

Lots to talk about on this week's show! The Super Bowl - yes, the Patriots had a relatively easy path to their 14-3 record, but their run to Sunday's game required them to beat three of the top five defenses in the league. As for the Seahawks, the Sam Darnold Redemption Tour continues as the former Jets QB finds himself in a FAR different position than he did while playing for New York.Jim Monaghan and Chris Swendeman make their picks, and at least one of them may surprise you.Bill Belichick's Snub - one of the big stories last week centered around the former Patriots head coach, and owner of 8 Super Bowl rings, NOT being elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  Retribution for perceived transgressions?  Perhaps, but the backlash coming from all sides has not gone unnoticed in the league offices.Super Bowl Halftime Show - Jim & Chris are both here for the comments! The Grammy Awards - Sly Stone and Brian Wilson may have received little more than courteous mentions, but for every rock fan who has EVER complained about how the Grammy Awards have treated rock in recent years, the live tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne was off the charts! Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

Welcome To Super Bowl LX - A Jets Fan's Worst Nightmare

If you're a New York Jets fan, you can plan on punching your ticket straight to heaven because in less than two weeks, you will have spent your time in hell. With the hated New England Patriots back in the Super Bowl and the Sam Darnold-led Seattle Seahawks on the opposite sideline, what's a Jets fan supposed to do?As you may recall, Darnold's "signature" Jet Moment came in a particularly horrific game against New England during which the dazed and confused quarterback slumped on the bench and said, "I'm seeing ghosts."Suffice it to say that Darnold isn't seeing any strange apparitions these days, and Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel took a team that finished 4-13 the two previous seasons and brought them back to the Super Bowl. And the Jets? They fired their coaches with one MAJOR exception - head coach Aaron Glenn who inexplicably STILL has his job, even as former Bills head coach Sean McDermott is somewhere out there looking for a job.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

The Jets Now Have TWO Chances To Get It Right But Will They?

Last week on the Two-Minute Drill, Jim Monaghan and Chris Swendeman were talking about how the Jets needed to do whatever it takes to get former Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin in the building in Florham Park and not let him leave until he came on board as their new head coach. Now with the firing of Sean McDermott by the Bills, the Jets have another golden opportunity to bring a high-level head coach into the organization. And if the Jets need any kind of a blueprint into how to get it done, they need only to look at how their MetLife Stadium cohabitants, the Giants, got their deal done with John Harbaugh.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

The New York Jets May Never Get This Opportunity Again

The theme of this NFL season has been head coach openings - there are nine of them right now to be exact. In all actuality, there should be an even ten with the New York Jets making an immediate move to relieve Aaron Glenn of his head coaching responsibilities and subsequently offering Mike Tomlin (late of the Pittsburgh Steelers) whatever it takes to get him on board. In his 19 years as the lead voice of the Steelers, the team has NEVER had a losing season.  Let that sink in for a minute, Jets fans.NOT A SINGLE LOSING SEASON IN 19 YEARS!Meanwhile, the latest move the Jets made?  Signing Bailey Zappe to be the backup quarterback. And let THAT one sink in for another minute, Jets fans.Plus there's the John Harbaugh situation and the always entertaining nonsense from Eagles fans to deal with in this week's episode.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

Why the Giants Might Be the Attractive Head Coach Opening

Following the final weekend of the regular NFL season, a whopping SEVEN teams are looking for a new head coach, and after their final two dismal performances against the playoff-bound Patriots and Bills, don't be surprised if the Jets make it eight.Out of all the teams with an opening for a new head coach, the Giants might be the most attractive.Think about it - a young quarterback who appears poised for stardom, a couple of key players coming back from injury next year....  Could the Mara family entice the recently-fired John Harbaugh to come to East Rutherford?Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

The Year-End Road Trip Edition of the Two-Minute Drill

For this final episode of year, Jim Monaghan and Chris Swendeman went on separate road trips to watch their favorite teams play, and the results were WILDLY different.Chris Swendeman journeyed to Buffalo to watch his recently-appointed favorite team the Bills take on the Eagles.   Through a driving rainstorm, he watched a pretty exciting game, even if the hometown Bills came out on the losing end.As Chris points out, the Eagles fans in attendance (and there were a lot more than you might expect who made the trip to upstate New York) were remarkably well-behaved.  Although if you listened to Philadelphia sports talk radio after the game you would have thought the Iggles actually lost.Jim Monaghan didn't have to travel quite as far to see the New England Patriots.  They were at MetLife Stadium taking on the New York Jets in what ultimately was a blowout win for New England.  And judging by the amount of navy blue and red in the stadium, this had all the feels of a home game in Foxborough MA.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

Guess Who WON'T Be the Giants Head Coach In 2026?

We may not know who the head coach of the New York Giants will be in 2026, but we do know this -It will NOT be Mike Kafka. That deal was sealed in yet another loss this past Sunday with a play that might be the perfect metaphor for a disastrous season.Trailing 3-0 to the Vikings early in the game, the Giants were in a 4th and 5 inside the Red Zone.  Rather than go for what would have been a game-tying field goal, the Giants opted to go for a first down.Quarterback Jaxson Dart was sacked for a five-yard loss, and while the Giants would later tie the game and keep things close, given the circumstances (rookie QB, offensive line injuries, etc), the decision to attempt to secure a first down clearly wasn't the right one.And turning to baseball, with yet another trade - this one sending Jeff McNeil to the Oakland Athletics - the Mets are telling you that they have identified who they feel the sources of the 2025 Clubhouse Chaos were.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

Mets Fans Don't Like What's Happening, But It's All Part of the Plan

A lot of Mets fans are all up in arms over the team letting slugger Pete Alonso sign as a free agent with the Baltimore Orioles. And that's after trading Brandon Nimmo and the free-agent departure of Edwin Diaz to the Dodgers. But here is the reality of the situation - ownership saw that the roster, as constructed for the 2025 season, did not win.  They also didn't like the culture of the clubhouse.  Having three high-profile players leave is a clear message to everyone that ownership wants to make some serious changes. Before we get to that, though, Jim Monaghan lets Mr. Bills Mafia Chris Swendeman gloat a little (okay, a lot) following Buffalo's come-from-behind win over the Patriots in Foxborough on Sunday afternoon.Oh and one more thing - some guy named Springsteen showed up at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park on Sunday night.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

At Least the Giants Didn't Blow Another 4th Quarter Lead

If you want to look at the bright side of things, the Giants didn't blow another 4th quarter lead, and quarterback Jaxson Dart didn't get hurt. After that, Monday night's loss to the Patriots was pretty much bad all around.Abdul Carter was on the bench for the first couple of series for what we hear was "disciplinary reasons," the Giants field goal kicker pulled a Charlie Brown moment, the Patriots scored 17 points on 16 plays...that about sums it up.Oh, and then there's the Lane Kiffin mess to discuss (that is one VERY sweet deal he has) plus the Yankees haven't made an off-season move yet while the fans get a little antsy.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

The Hits Just Keep On Coming For the NY Giants

Following yet another blown 4th-quarter lead, the Giants responded by firing their defensive coordinator Shane Bowen. While Bowen was probably going to be fired at the end of the season anyway, his dismissal with five games to go is another exclamation point on a horrible Giants season.Just six weeks after the Giants defense rose to the occasion in helping to beat the Philadelphia Eagles, the team blew 4th quarter leads against Denver, Chicago, Green Bay, and Detroit.Overall, we're talking about a team that has blown double-digit leads in the 4th quarter in three games, and 5 double-digit leads over all this season. With the radio broadcast crew openly criticizing coaching decisions as well as an injured player doing the same on social media (in a since-deleted post), it's not exactly a sizzling hot take to tell you that the coaching staff has completely lost the room. And we also throw in a little baseball with the Mets trading fan favorite Brandon Nimmo to the Texas Rangers for Marcus Semien, and what that might mean when it comes to Pete Alonso.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

The Giants CAN'T Get This Coaching Hire Wrong

After multiple seasons of failure, the Giants finally cut ties with head coach Brian Daboll, acknowledging that the team couldn't continue in its current path. The question now is who exactly do the Giants hire?  It's not as if the next Great-Head-Coach-In-Waiting is sitting by the phone just hoping that the team will call.Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart appears to be the real deal, even as it also appears that the team may have mismanaged his style of play that has led Dart into the blue tent four times in his six games to determine if he had suffered a concussion. It's imperative that the Giants find the right person.Jim Monaghan and Chris Swendeman go over what's ahead for the Giants, plus they cover what may indeed be a Jets turnaround (despite their record), and offer thoughts on where free agent first baseman Pete Alonso may end up.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

Paul Rappaport spent more than 30 years as a promotions executive for Columbia Records. In that capacity, he worked with an amazing lineup of artists - Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Judas Priest, Men At Work, the Bangles...and that's just a fraction of the total!Over the years, Paul has compiled some AMAZING stories and he has just published his first book "Gliders Over Hollywood - Airships, Airplay, and the Art of Rock Promotion."As music director and air personality at New York City's legendary WNEW-FM, Jim Monaghan dealt with Paul on a regular basis, so some of the stories in the book really resonate with him.Odds are that if you have albums on the Columbia label in your collection, Paul helped promote them and this book is a must-read.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

The Cranky Yankee Fan (aka Chris Swendeman) Vents and A Special Guest - Lindsay Berra

What better way to celebrate one of the most beloved baseball players in history than by capturing a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the game he loved best?Yogi's granddaughter Lindsay Berra is helping to organize what she hopes will be a record-setting day of getting to the very essence of the game of baseball - playing catch.Fans of all ages are invited to come to Yogi Berra Stadium on the campus of Montclair State University in Little Falls.Complete details can be found on the Yogi Berra Museum website - https://www.yogiberramuseum.orgAnd we also allowed the Cranky Yankee Fan - aka Chris Swendeman - to vent about the team's malaise. Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

MLB Trade Deadline Deals - Yankees Improve But the Mets Win the Deadline

This year's Major League trade deadline featured a lot of teams making moves either to improve their roster for the final two months of the regular season, or to sell off some of their top players to get players in return who will help in the future. In the case of the San Diego Padres, they were both buyers and sellers at the deadline with a dizzying series of moves. The Yankees needed to fill a lot of holes.  A frontline starter would have been ideal, along with an arm or two for the bullpen, and with Aaron Judge sidelined for who-knows-how-long, a righty bat in the outfield would have helped. The Yankees didn't get a starter, but they went and reshaped the bullpen, added an outfielder in Austin Slater, and brought in speedster Jose Caballero who can play multiple positions, including shortstop (despite his recent spree of home runs, Anthony Volpe is something of a liability both at the plate and in the field). The Mets, though, may have made the best moves at the deadline, acquiring bullpen help and centerfielder Cedric Mullins from the Orioles.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

The Yankees Problems Go WAY Beyond Anthony Volpe

Let's face it - this was not a good weekend for Anthony Volpe. He went 1-for-11 against the Mets (yes, the one was a home run), he hit Aaron Judge in the face with a baseball (how is that even possible?), and then his dad got into a shouting match with a fan at Citi Field in a moment that almost immediately went viral. We've talked about Volpe before - yes, he's been struggling for most of the year at the plate, and his defense has taken a hit as well.  But the Yankees have only themselves to blame.Volpe had a terrific spring training in 2023, but there was absolutely ZERO reason to move him up to the Major League level when the season started.  Not with less than 100 at bats at AAA the season before. So while fans may be focusing some of their online frustrations at their shortstop, Jim Monaghan and Chris Swendeman take the position that (finally?) GM Brian Cashman and manager Aaron Boone should REALLY both be on the hot seat.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

The Knicks Crossed A LOT Off of This Year's To-Do List

Despite getting bounced from the NBA Playoffs in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals by the Indiana Pacers, the Knicks (and their fans) have a LOT to be happy about right now.Their opening round series against the Pistons was easily one of the best post-season matchups in years, followed by the elimination of the Boston Celtics in the second round. If you're honest, you know that the Pacers had the better team, and still the Knicks gave Indiana issues right up until the third quarter of Game 6.Meanwhile if you're a Yankees fan. there are six teams whose pitching staffs you should be watching from now to the trade deadline.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

How Did the Knicks Pull THAT One Out?

If you watched the Knicks-Celtics playoff series you know that Boston had 20+ point leads in each of the first two games before New York managed to win both of those games - and in Boston! After losing the first two contests of their Eastern Conference Finals series to the Indiana Pacers, and trailing again by 20, the Knicks reached down deep and somehow found a way to beat the Pacers 106-100.Jim Monaghan and Chris Swendeman talk about how we have a series once again, plus Yankees, Mets, the new Mission Impossible movie, and some thoughts on New York radio legend Richard Neer.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

Juan Soto Picked A Bad Time To Have A Bad Weekend

The Yankees and Mets completed their weekend series on Sunday night with an 8-2 Yankees win, giving the Bombers two of the three games against their crosstown rivals. For Juan Soto, it marked his first return to Yankee Stadium after signing a ridiculous contract with the Mets in the offseason. As expected, Yankees fans gave him a good old "Bronx cheer."  And Mets fans were left wondering how and why their new franchise player came up so empty against his former team.Jim Monaghan and Chris Swendeman also dig into Pete Alonso's recent slump as well as Yankees fans turning on Anthony Volpe.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

Major League Baseball Finally Caves In On Pete Rose

Our Long National Nightmare is finally over.Major League Baseball announced on Tuesday that Pete Rose, MLB's all-time hit leader will now be eligible for induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.Along with Rose are the eight members of the 1919 Chicago "Black" Sox including "Shoeless" Joe Jackson who, along with seven of his teammates were found guilty of fixing the outcome of the World Series that year. The voting on Rose, Jackson, and the others won't happen until December 2027, with possible induction coming in the summer of 2028.Also on tap this week - following a horrible injury to Jason Tatum, the Knicks appear poised to eliminate the Boston Celtics, and the Mets and Yankees head to the Bronx for a 3-game series with Juan Soto in the spotlight. And to wrap things up, we talk about Wolfgang Van Halen's incredible performance with his band Mammoth this past Sunday at Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

Hey, Nick Saban - Leave President Trump Alone. He Already Has Enough To Do.

Former Alabama head football coach Nick Saban isn't happy with the way N-I-L money is changing the landscape of college football.  And neither is Alabama Senator (and former Auburn head coach) Tommy Tuberville. In a post on X/Twitter a few days ago, Tuberville said, " College football is the heart and soul of America — but it’s in danger if we don’t level the playing field."So Saban and Tuberville have appealed to President Donald Trump to get involved.Really? With everything going on in our country and around the world, they want the President to do something to "level the playing field" of college football? And that also begs the question, "Level it for whom?"Jim Monaghan and Chris Swendeman talk about that, plus Gene Simmons, Game One of the Knicks/Celtics series, plus Yankees reliever Devin Williams and Mets outfielder Juan Soto.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)

Fixing the Problem With Yankees Reliever Devin Williams May Be Easier Than You Think

OK, Yankees fans, now it's your turn to dial it back.A week ago, we were talking about the need for Mets fans to back off Juan Soto because he was going to be just fine. Now, after a couple of disastrous relief appearances, it's Yankee fans who want Devin Williams gone...like yesterday. So while Soto has raised his batting average 36 points in the last 10 games to quiet at least some of the naysayers for awhile, Williams is in a deep funk - like an 11.25 ERA kind of funk. This week on the Two-Minute Drill podcast, Jim Monaghan offers what may be a simple fix for Williams, and we put Chris Swendeman on the clock to evaluate the NFL Draft choices made by the Giants and Jets.Follow us on Social Media for more content.YouTube FacebookTwitter (you want to call it X, go ahead)
