She is the “Whirling Shaman.” Following her grandmother Deena’s path, she practices as an energy medicine practitioner, a dancer, and a teacher. As an animist, she cocreates healing with nature and with her clients through movement, ceremony and ritual. She is a Light Body School of Medicine graduate mentored by Dr. Alberto Velodo and Banafsheh Sayyad, a Sufi mystic. Persheng Vaziri writes about and researches documentary films, particularly Iranian documentaries, and World Cinema. She has made documentaries on Iran and Iraq, produced by KCET/Link TV, the National Geographic’s All Roads Project, and Deep Dish TV. She has worked as producer for Link TV. Her personal documentaries are about the immigrant experience, the upheavals of revolution, the Iran-Iraq war, the Kurdistan region, and years of difficult history with the US. Helen BetGivargis, L.Ac., M.S. A former researcher and IVF embryologist and is a licensed Acupuncturist, with over 28 years of practicing Qigong, TaiChi, Yoga, Sufi whirling and Heart Centered meditation. She has completed MBSR certification with a deeper integration of mindfulness with racial justice. She was born and raised in Iran to an indigenous Assyrian Parents in Azerbaijan region of Iran. She has been deeply devoted to Rumi’s poetry and reciting them in her native Persian/Farsi language, the language in which Rumi wrote most of his poems. Helen has developed a meditative and embodiment practice of “The Alchemy of Whirling'' an inner work practice where she integrates the wisdom of 5-Spirit Alchemical work of her mentor Lorie Dechar, and Dance of Oneness, with alchemy of Sufi poetry and music. In her spare time Helen practices Calligraphy Art inPersian, Arabic and Arameic/Assyrian on paper and on silk scarves. https://www.acupuncturetreeoflife.com/

Joanne and Paula have known each other since meeting in New York City in 2008 and bonded over their love of art, positive mindset and their appreciation for strong women. In part one of the episode, Joanne talks to Paula about her art and how she was inspired to create Paint Medicine. Paint Medicine is Paula's intuitive painting sessions that invite people to fully embrace their creative side and let go of whatever is holding them back. FCW Fireside Chat to celebrate International Women's Day
For our first episode, we join, Joanne Morton, Courtney Mclean and Nichelle Stevens sitting around the fire pit talking about their first experiences with FCW Society brunches, the history of the FCW Society and more. We were also talking about the FCW we know. As FCW, we only talk about the cool women we know and all of the cool things they have done or do. This recording was edited a bit however, it was recorded from Joanne's phone so if you listen carefully, you might hear some flames flicker 🔥.
